Dems Scuttle Vote on AOC-Endorsed Congressional Pay Hike After It Fails to Get Enough Support… Again

House Democrats are again delaying plans to move forward on a spending proposal to increase Congress’ pay for the first time in a decade, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) told reporters Tuesday.

At a weekly press briefing, Hoyer explained that there wasn’t enough support among House members to move forward with the “Cost of Living Adjustment” (COLA) proposal this week, saying that “we don’t have the votes.”

At the Tuesday briefing, Hoyer also cited a lack of GOP support as a reason for not moving forward. Hoyer also echoed concerns already voiced by Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) about serving in Congress only becoming a possibility for the wealthy if pay doesn’t increase at some point.

The original pay hike proposal was included in a spending bill appropriating the budget for the Legislative Branch and was initially tabled after public pushback. That bill will not be brought for a vote this week either, Hoyer explained at the briefing. However, he also explained that he is still trying to reach a deal with GOP leadership on the matter.

Politico reported Monday night that efforts to advance COLA on a bipartisan basis appeared to be in trouble due to a lack of Republican votes in favor of the proposal.

One of the most vocal proponents of a congressional pay increase has been far-left freshman House member Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) who claims that a cost-of-living-driven pay increase to Congress’ $174,000 salary is necessary to keep lawmakers from turning to lobbying or other means of cashing in on their service after they leave.

However, voters just don’t see eye-to-eye with her or the other pay increase proponents on this issue. According to a recent Politico/Morning Consult poll released earlier this month, almost three-quarters of registered voters — 72 percent — are against the idea of increasing congressional salaries to some extent. Only 14 percent of respondents supported the idea.

Last week, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said that the Senate wouldn’t be working on the issue, but Hoyer nevertheless persisted, calling the idea “the right thing to do to ensure that the Congress reflects all of America — not just the wealthy.”

Other members of Congress have been far less enthused with the idea.

“Instead of writing a budget or reforming our bankrupt entitlement programs, House Democrats are angling for a pay raise,” Sen. GOP Rep Warns: Our Troops Are Not ‘Spiritually Ready’ for Battle

The FY20 National Defense Authorization Act is incomplete, Rep. Mark Green argued on Tuesday. He’s hoping Congress will consider his amendment to tackle the alarming rate of active-duty and veteran suicides. About 20 service members and veterans take their lives every day, he explained, in part because they are not spiritually prepared for war.

His amendment would direct the Department of Defense to assess the availability and usage of the assistance of chaplains, houses of worship and other spiritual resources for members of the Armed Forces of all self-identified religious affiliations in order help counter the tragic rate of military suicides, Green explained in a press release. The congressman served in the military for 24 years.

“In the past year, the rates of active-duty military suicides have increased dramatically,” he said. “It is our duty to ensure warriors and veterans are mentally, emotional, and spiritually prepared for war.

“Every commander can tell me how well their equipment is ready to deploy. Things like marksmanship, and training on various maneuver tasks are all measured. But I am confident not a single commander in the military could measure the spiritual readiness of those soldiers who self-identify as spiritual or religious. The data is clear, treating spiritual wounds can save lives.” . . .

Bubonic Plague in Los Angeles? Is California on the Verge of Becoming a Third-World State?

Tucker Carlson had historian Victor Davis Hanson on last week, where the latter said that California is on the verge of becoming the nation’s first Third World state. From trash being illegally dumped to city hall becoming a rat-infested den in the city of LA, it all points to the decay suffered when Democrats run things. Even police stations in the city are loaded with rats; one was fined $5,000 over its conditions that left one officer stricken with typhoid fever. It’s to the point where there is a possibility that bubonic plague—yes, the black death—may be present in the city. This isn’t new. . .

Oh, yeah, and bubonic plague could be roaming the streets (via Daily Wire):

“We have a complete breakdown of the basic needs of civilization in Los Angeles right now,” Pinsky told Fox New host Laura Ingraham. “We have the three prongs of airborne disease, tuberculosis is exploding, rodent-borne. We are one of the only cities in the country that doesn’t have a rodent control program, and sanitation has broken down.”

Pinsky said bubonic plague — also known as the “Black Death,” a pandemic that killed off millions in the 14th century — is “likely” already present in Los Angeles. The plague is spread by infected fleas and exposure to bodily fluids from a dead plague-infected animal, with the bacteria entering through the skin and traveling to lymph nodes.

“This is unbelievable. I can’t believe I live in a city where this is not Third World. This is medieval,” Pinsky said, according to Fox News. “Third World countries are insulted if they are accused of being like this. No city on Earth tolerates this. The entire population is at risk.”

Talk Show Host: There Are over 100,000 Concentration Camps in Nearly Every State

Leftist Rosie O’Donnell defended socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) false claim that the Trump administration is operating concentration camps on the southern border during an interview on Monday night and claimed without evidence that there are “over 100,000” concentration camps “in nearly every state.”

NewsBusters’ Kyle Drennen reported that O’Donnell made the remarks while appearing on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.”

“Rosie, you’re going to be doing a vigil called Lights for Liberty, July 12th, demanding an end to the detention camps,” Cohen said.

“Yeah, the concentration camps, even though there’s lots of controversy about the word,” O’Donnell responded. “But actually, legitimate scholars who study genocide say, yes, these are, in fact, the criteria for concentration camps, they meet them.”

“There are over 100,000 camps in nearly every state,” O’Donnell continued. “There’s between 10,000 and 13,000 children, that could fill Radio City Music Hall twice. That’s how many children unaccompanied alone in these camps.”

Elon Musk: Here’s Why World Population Will Start to Collapse Soon

By Breitbart. SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk reiterated a theory on Friday that he’s promoted in the past: that the world is not only not heading rapidly toward an unsustainable population by mid-century, but it’s also poised for a population collapse.

In a tweet noted by Business Insider, the billionaire PayPal co-founder, responding to a post by World of Engineering citing a projected world population of 9,346,399,468 by 2050, refuted the warnings of overpopulation.

“1950 (historical) world population – 2,556,000,053,” World of Engineering tweeted Thursday. “Current world population – 7,712,343,478[;] 2050 (projected) world population – 9,346,399,468.”

“Real issue will [be] an aging & declining world population by 2050, *not* overpopulation,” Musk responded. “[Jørgen] Randers estimate far more accurate than UN imo,” Musk added, linking to a Wikipedia article containing several population projections, including by Randers.

In a follow-up tweet, Musk agreed with a follower that the population will be an “inverse pyramid,” writing: “Yes, demographics, stratified by age, will look like an upside down pyramid with many old people & fewer young.”

Elon Musk Says SpaceX Will Try Its ‘Most Difficult Launch Ever’

At 2:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday, a Falcon Heavy rocket lifted off from Cape Canaveral, Florida.

This morning’s launch attempt marks SpaceX’s third-ever with Falcon Heavy. The rocket design debuted in February 2018, has three reusable boosters, and is considered the planet’s most powerful launch system in use today.

What makes this mission, called Space Test Program-2 (STP-2), so challenging is what’s stacked inside the rocket’s nose cone: 24 government and commercial satellites that together weigh about 8,150 pounds (3,700 kilograms). When fully fueled, a Falcon Heavy rocket weighs about 1,566 tons (1,420 metric tons), or more than 300 adult elephants’ worth of mass. Video Footage of Jussie Smollett with Rope Around His Neck Released by Chicago Police

Chicago police released hundreds of files and nearly 70 hours of video footage on Monday from the investigation into Jussie Smollett’s claim back in January that he was attacked by two men — a claim that police later characterized as a hoax.

In one of the videos, police body-cam footage showed Smollett — with his face blurred — wearing a white rope that he told detectives his attackers looped around his neck. When one of the officers asked Smollett if he wanted to take the rope off of his neck, the 37-year-old actor did while stating: “Yeah. I do. I just wanted you all to see it.” . . .

Investigators went on to tell him that they were recording the visit, to which he said: “I don’t want to be filmed.” The officers then turned off their body cams.

Many files contained surveillance-camera footage that police collected as they launched what they initially called a hate-crime investigation. They also included footage from what appeared to be the route police said the two brothers who participated in the alleged staged January attack took to and from the scene.

The release marked the latest chapter in a story that began with Smollett’s allegations that he was the victim of a racist and homophobic attack. He eventually was arrested on charges that he lied to police, but prosecutors later dismissed the charges. Google Censors Video Exposing Google

Google-owned video platform YouTube took down a video from Project Veritas showing a senior employee at the company appearing to admit that the company plans to interfere in the next presidential election to stop Donald Trump.

The video, which is still available on the Project Veritas website featured undercover footage of a top Google employee, Jen Gennai, stating that the company shouldn’t be broken up because only they can prevent the “next Trump situation.”

Elizabeth Warren is saying we should break up Google. And like, I love her but she’s very misguided, like that will not make it better it will make it worse, because all these smaller companies who don’t have the same resources that we do will be charged with preventing the next Trump situation, it’s like a small company cannot do that.

This corroborates other leaks from Google. Earlier this year, former Google software engineer Mike Wacker published emails appearing to show that a manager at the tech giant told one of their subordinates that the company had to stop “fake news” and “hate speech” because “that’s how Trump won.”

Eric Swalwell’s Race-Baiting: ‘If You’re Hispanic,’ Trump Will ‘Cage Your Children’

Political attacks seem to get coarser and coarser, but 2020 Democrat Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) seemed to redefine disgusting race-baiting rhetoric over the weekend. On Saturday, he warned all Hispanic Americans that President Donald Trump would break up their families, put their children in cages, and “erase” their existence in the census.

“If you’re Hispanic, there’s nothing [Donald Trump] wont do to break up your family, cage your children, or erase your existence with a weaponized census. And there’s nothing we won’t do in the streets, courts, and at the ballot box to stop him,” Swalwell tweeted.

In this one tweet, Swalwell repeated the blatant lie about “kids in cages,” and used race-baiting in a ridiculous attempt to demonize Trump and gain support for his longshot presidential bid. He also seemingly insulted all Hispanic Americans — by suggesting that none of them are legal inhabitants of this country. Perhaps he should meet prominent Republican Senators Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), former presidential candidates who are themselves Hispanic and legal citizens who oppose illegal immigration. . .

As for “kids in cages,” this frequently repeated Democrat smear comes from a viral photo of a child in a cage. That photo did not come from Trump’s immigration policy, but rather from an orchestrated protest against the Trump administration. Other photos came from 2014, during the Obama administration.

Last May, Trump tweeted, “Democrats mistakenly tweet 2014 pictures from Obama’s term showing children from the Border in steel cages. They thought it was recent pictures in order to make us look bad, but backfires. HILARIOUS: Trump Reveals the Dem Candidate He’d Like to Face in 2020

Trump, who has continued to launch criticisms at Clinton even after defeating her in the 2016 presidential race, offered rare praise of the former secretary of state while once again labeling Biden as “sleepy.” . . .

This is not the first time Trump has claimed that he would prefer running against Biden – who consistently leads a crowded Democratic field and has enjoyed success in head-to-head polls against Trump – to other candidates in 2020.

Biden Vows to Repeal Trump Tax Cuts on ‘Day One’ If He Captures White House

By Fox News. Former Vice President and current presidential candidate Joe Biden promised Saturday that on “Day One” of a Biden presidency he would repeal President Trump’s 2017 tax cuts and close $500 billion on tax loopholes.

Speaking at the South Carolina Democratic Party Convention, Biden said that “Income inequities are at an all-time high and made worse by Trump’s tax cuts and enormous giveaways to the top one-tenth of the 1 percent … and it’s time we start to reward work over wealth.”

Outlining his policy proposals in this visit to the early primary state, Biden said the GOP-backed tax cuts, which have been heavily criticized in some quarters as beneficial only to the rich, have no socially redeeming value. He vowed to “put that money to good use.”

Biden promised that, among other things, residual funds from the tax break would be put toward initiatives such as green energy research and development, two-year college tuition grants and a public-option health insurance plan. New Documents Regarding Omar’s Possible Marriage to Brother Released

By Breitbart. The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported Saturday that an extensive investigation into the question of why Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) was married to one man but filed a joint tax return with another could not determine whether she had married her brother.

Omar was found earlier thismonth to have violated Minnesota campaign finance laws by using campaign funds to pay for out-of-state travel not related to her state legislative duties, and for legal expenses related to her personal tax returns. She was ordered to reimburse her campaign and pay a civil penalty of $500 to the state.

The Star Tribune report reported:

New investigative documents released by a state agency have given fresh life to lingering questions about the marital history of Rep. Ilhan Omar and whether she once married a man — possibly her own brother — to skirt immigration laws. . .

Since the recent findings of the campaign finance board that discovered Omar had improperly used campaign money to pay a lawyer to fix her tax filings, the Star Tribune searched public records — including available databases, the marriage and divorce filing, business licenses, university records and other documents — and could find little publicly available information about Elmi. The search of records could neither conclusively confirm nor rebut the allegation that he is Omar’s sibling.

New Documents Shed Light on Ilhan Omar’s Marriage to Her Alleged Brother

By Daily Wire. Newly discovered official documents released on Sunday suggest that Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) lived with her current husband Ahmed Abdisalan Hirsi during the entire time that she was legally married to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, the man that critics allege is her brother. . .

However, Omar’s timeline of events appears to conflict with newly uncovered documents from The Washington Examiner’s Tiana Lowe, who notes that the evidence suggests that Omar has always been in a marital relationship with Hirsi, even when she was married to Elmi.

The Washington Examiner reports:

Public documents, for instance, place Hirsi and Omar living in a home together in the Cedar Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis in 2009, the year Elmi and Omar married, and two years before Omar claims she reconciled with Hirsi.

In legal documents, including 24 traffic violations and misdemeanor charges against Hirsi obtained by the Washington Examiner, Hirsi listed his address at a single Cedar Riverside address consistently in 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011. Four minor cases against Omar show that in 2007, 2009, and 2012, she listed her address at the same Cedar Riverside address.
