Obama’s White House Deleted Evidence of Border Crisis Before Trump Took Office

By The Daily Caller. The Obama administration deleted hundreds of speeches and statements on the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) website just hours before President Donald Trump officially entered office, according to research released Tuesday.

A collection of 190 transcripts of speeches on ICE’s website was deleted on Jan. 18 and late in the evening on Jan. 19, 2017, according to research conducted by the Sunlight Foundation, a nonpartisan organization that advocates for government transparency. Statements made by high-ranking ICE officials regarding controversial immigration topics such as sanctuary cities, E-Verify, treatment of detainees, and other issues were included in the reported deletions.

“With a couple of clicks of a mouse, access to a federal government web resource containing 12 years of primary source materials on ICE’s history was lost,” the Sunlight Foundation wrote, noting that archived speeches dating back from 2004 were among those deleted.

Speeches from former acting ICE Director Thomas Homan, a public supporter of Trump’s immigration policies, were among those prominently included in the deletion list.

A February 2016 speech delivered to the Senate Judiciary Committee by Homan was among those removed. Then the executive associate director of Enforcement and Removal Operations, Homan spoke about the “Unaccompanied Minor Crisis,” telling lawmakers how the agency and the Obama White House were working to manage the surge of young illegal children reaching the southern border en masse. A California Desert Town Sees Surge in Migrants as Border Crisis Worsens

By The LA Times. . .The scene that unfolded recently in this desert city about 100 miles from the U.S.-Mexico border exemplifies how the immigration crisis has spilled over into communities farther north.

With a historic flow of Central American families fleeing poverty and violence, federal officials earlier this spring began releasing migrants on their own recognizance from inundated detention centers in growing numbers. About 175,000 have left custody since Dec. 21.

Nonprofit and faith-based organizations in Riverside and San Bernardino counties are among those that have stepped in to help the asylum seekers. But the mounting costs have raised doubts — among local officials and advocates alike — about how long they can keep doing so.

Many of the drop-offs have taken place in Blythe, a city of about 20,000 along the Colorado River across from Arizona. Since March, said Riverside County spokeswoman Brooke Federico, 2,600 migrants have arrived here. (Read more from “A California Desert Town Sees Surge in Migrants as Border Crisis Worsens” HERE)

State to Allow Non-Doctors to Perform Abortions

Gov. Janet Mills signed a bill Monday permitting non-doctors to perform abortions in Maine.

The law will allow physician assistants and advanced practice registered nurses to perform abortions, according to a press release from Mills’ office.

“Allowing qualified and licensed medical professionals to perform abortions will ensure that Maine women, especially those in rural areas, are able to access critical reproductive health care services when and where they need them from qualified providers they know and trust,” Mills, a Democrat, said in a statement. . .

Democratic Maine House Speaker Sara Gideon sponsored the bill, “An Act to Authorize Certain Health Care Professionals to Perform Abortions.” It is set to go into effect in September, according to The New York Times. . .

Planned Parenthood President Leana Wen praised the legislation and Mills’ actions in a Tuesday tweet.

WATCH: U.S. Mosque Leader Says ‘Wife Beating’ Is a Way to Remind a Woman She ‘Misbehaved’

A clip unveiled by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) this week shows Michigan-based Shiite Imam Bassem al-Sheraa “educating” students on the role of “wife-beating.”

According to the video, the imam tells the class at the Az-Zahraa Islamic Center in Detroit that when the Quran references such a physical act toward one’s wife, it is a “beating” that should be conducted without causing pain or any red markings; but as a reminder to the woman that she “misbehaved in cases when words (of admonishment) do not make her change her ways.”

“It is just like when your child reaches to touch the electrical socket or a fire, what do you do? You go like that,” Sheraa explained. “It is just like when your child picks up something dangerous and is about to eat it. You hit his hand like that as a reminder. That is what ‘beating’ means.” . . .

In late January, he also came under fire for what many deemed an “anti-Semitic” lecture uploaded to YouTube in which he claimed that Jews have distorted sacred texts and sanctioned the killing of prophets, MEMRI noted.

“He accused the Jews of employing tricks and fraud in matters of religion and morality, and of amassing gold and spreading usury,” the report continued, underscoring that Jews have used their “peculiar philosophy” to attain power and control the modern banking system, and that Jewish women have long founded and managed “dens of female iniquity” and ran European brothels. Hope Hicks to Testify Before House Judiciary Panel Next Week

By Breitbart. Former White House Communications Director Hope Hicks will testify before the House Judiciary Committee on June 19th in a closed-door setting, reports NBC News. . .

The letters from the White House to the Judiciary panel are the latest effort by the White House to thwart congressional investigations into President Donald Trump. The president has vowed to fight “all of the subpoenas” as Democrats have launched multiple probes into his administration and personal financial affairs.

Last month, House Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) issued subpoenas for Hick and Donaldson as part of his panel’s investigation into potential wrongdoing and corruption by the president and his associates.

The White House has claimed executive privilege over documents and testimony, invoking the power to keep information from the courts, Congress, and the public to protect the confidentiality of the Oval Office decision-making process. Judiciary Panel to Interview Ex-Trump Aide Hicks

By AP. . .The panel subpoenaed Hicks last month as part of its investigation into obstruction of justice and special counsel Robert Mueller’s report.

The interview will be held June 19 and a transcript will be released, according to one of the people. It is a significant breakthrough for the committee, as President Donald Trump has broadly fought attempts at congressional oversight.

Hicks, a longtime aide to Trump, is mentioned throughout Mueller’s report. (Read more from “Judiciary Panel to Interview Ex-Trump Aide Hicks” HERE)

House Oversight Committee Votes to Hold Barr in Contempt

The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on Wednesday voted to hold Attorney General William Barr and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross in contempt, citing their refusal to comply with subpoenas for documents related to the Trump administration’s decision to add a citizenship question to the 2020 census.

The vote fell mostly along partisan lines, with 24 Democrats voting “aye” and 15 Republicans voting “no.” Rep. Justin Amash (R-MI) voted “yes” with Democrats. . .

Earlier this week, the full House had planned to vote on holding Barr and former White House counsel Don McGahn in contempt for not testifying to the Judiciary Committee and providing a fully-unredacted version of the special counsel report on Russian interference and underlying documents for the report.

However, the vote was called off after Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY) reached a deal with the Justice Department to begin receiving the underlying documents. The House instead voted on a resolution giving Nadler and committee chairmen more power to enforce subpoenas.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is hoping to ward off calls for impeachment proceedings from membersof her own caucus by encouraging them to continue investigating the administration. (Read more from “House Oversight Committee Votes to Hold Barr in Contempt” HERE)

Joe Biden Promises to ‘Cure Cancer’ If He’s Elected President in 2020

Former Vice President and presidential hopeful Joe Biden made a promise on Tuesday to “cure cancer” if he defeats incumbent President Donald Trump in 2020.

“I promise you if I’m elected president, you’re going to see the single most important thing that changes America — we’re gonna cure cancer,” announced Biden during a campaign speech in Ottumwa, Iowa.

On Wednesday’s radio program, Glenn Beck, Pat Gray and Stu Burguiere reacted to Biden’s audacious campaign promise and discussed the Democratic front-runner’s chances against President Trump in a hypothetical general election.

“If he gets elected, Joe Biden said ‘we’re going to cure cancer.’ That’s going to be the big takeaway of his presidency,” Stu said. “We used to do that as a joke. Remember? We would run fake candidates, like Ernie Velveeta and Harold Flamblasky, and they would all promise to cure cancer. Now, Joe Biden is really doing it.” . . .

“Joe Biden is going to cure cancer — he’s already cured it, really. You just have to elect him before he’ll tell you how he’s going to cure it,” he joked. (Read more from “Joe Biden Promises to ‘Cure Cancer’ If He’s Elected President in 2020” HERE)

Again, Was There Outrage When Obama Used a Former Japanese Internment Camp to Detain Illegals?

I guess the signal flare was fired. The horn was blown. The call to arms was shouted: all morons assemble! Also, if there was ever an example of the Democrat-media complex at work, this is a prime one. The Trump administration is going to use Fort Sill in Oklahoma to hold illegal aliens. Fort Sill was a former Japanese internment camp and the U.S. military has used it for 150 years. It’s not draconian. It’s nothing new. As Democrats freaked out over this development, they seem to have forgotten that Obama has used it to house illegals and it’s temporary. It’s mostly a stopover for detained migrants while the Department of Homeland Security searched to find their relatives. Ed Morrissey at Hot Air has more:

The “former Japanese internment camp” in this case is Fort Sill in Oklahoma, which has also housed the U.S. military for 150 years. But “Trump administration to house child illegals at military post” doesn’t have the same ring to it, does it?

. . .The Obama administration used Fort Sill from June to early August in 2014 to house unaccompanied child illegals during the border crisis of that year. Here’s a story from a local TV affiliate in Oklahoma at the time marking the transfer of all children from the base and closure of the facility.

Robert Mueller Used Cell GPS to Track Trump Associates

By The Washington Times. Robert Mueller says he was able to pinpoint security company executive Erik Prince’s precise location for several hours in January 2017 by matching his mobile phone signal to a cell site near Trump Tower in New York City. . .

The Prince narrative is one instance in unredacted sections of the report in which Mr. Mueller’s team explicitly discloses cellphone tracking. It raises the question of whether the FBI applied the process to other investigative subjects — a phone’s GPS signal can disclose its exact location within a few feet. One of the first requests the FBI makes when confronting subjects is to ask for their electronic devices.

The fact Mr. Mueller could pinpoint Mr. Prince’s exact whereabouts suggest he used GPS readouts, which prosecutors can subpoena from cellular service providers.

“I got the distinct impression that they had all my electronic communications and they operated with a confidence borne of a complete complement of the communications of everyone else,” Michael Caputo, a former Trump campaign adviser, told The Washington Times. . .

Trump-Russia’s most infamous “whereabouts” question centers on Michael Cohen, a former Trump attorney who is now in prison for tax fraud. The Democratic Party-financed dossier alleged that Cohen participated in election interference by traveling to Prague in August 2016 to meet with operatives of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Alan Dershowitz: ‘The Mueller report should never have been written’

By Fox News. Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report on the Russia investigation should never have been written, according to Alan Dershowitz.

The Constitution does not explicitly provide for special counsels or special prosecutors, Dershowitz said Tuesday on “The Ingraham Angle.”

He added such offices are “inconsistent” with the founding document, adding that there wasn’t a pretense for the several-hundred-page conclusion to the investigation into President Trump.

Dershowitz also claimed Democrats have no legal right to have Mueller testify before them.

“Prosecutors have a right to say only one thing: We have concluded there’s no evidence sufficient to charge the president with Russian collusion or obstruction of justice, period. I’m taking no questions, I’m making no public report. I’m giving my findings to the attorney general. (Read more from “Alan Dershowitz: ‘The Mueller report should never have been written'” HERE)

Border Crisis: Texas Town Overrun with Crime and Disease, and This Mayor Has Had ENOUGH

“From my standpoint, I don’t even know why we have federal elected officials,” said Uvalde, Texas, Mayor Don McLaughlin in an exclusive interview with CR.

Uvalde, Texas, is a small town of 17,000 inhabitants, and they are now overrun by illegal immigrants and an international cartel smuggling operation. Uvalde is 40-60 miles from the border, but it might as well be right at the border. “We are in no man’s land. The state is not doing anything; the federal government is not doing anything,” said the mayor, who is begging the politicians to get involved. “We are getting nothing. I’ve lived here all my life and have never seen anything like this. The people in the communities are getting scared. What is coming that we don’t see? Who knows? People up north and in D.C. have no clue what is going on here. They don’t realize that these people are not being screened for diseases. We’re fed up.”

Situated at the crossroads of major highways coming up from border towns in the Laredo and Del Rio border sectors, Uvalde has now become a dumping ground for migrants coming north. And they are not just coming from Central America. Del Rio has received hundreds of African migrants in recent weeks. Uvalde has a Border Patrol holding facility, and according to McLaughlin, whenever it is full, if the city doesn’t take charge, many immigrants are released in a Walmart parking lot. Mayor McLaughlin said his city must pick up the tab to have them bused to San Antonio. On Friday, local media reported how San Antonio has now received hundreds of African migrants.

“In Uvalde, Border Patrol told us if we didn’t have buses ready right at the holding facility, they would have released them in a parking lot at a Walmart or a Stripes. This is what’s happening in outlying areas, but thanks to our working relationship with Border Patrol, we make sure to have buses ready. We just don’t have the facilities for them. We have to pay for these buses out of our pockets, and are citizens are mad.”

But it’s the people they don’t see who concern residents of Uvalde the most. “In addition to those being released in parking lots to get bused into San Antonio, what we are really concerned about is the increased foot traffic to our community. We have checkpoints on highway 90 and 83. The migrants are walking around the checkpoints. Now we are starting to see more calls to police of people walking through the neighborhoods, [of] finding car doors open [and] storerooms open. The Border Patrol is seeing this on their cameras, but they just don’t have the agents to respond. The foot traffic around the checkpoints has increased by 100 percent.”

McLaughlin is worried about crime. “With the Border Patrol so busy with the family units, we are seeing an increase in the bad guys. Our DPS and local authorities in surrounding communities are having more car chases. When they crash the cars, all of the smugglers bail out. Border Patrol can’t always respond, so we need to take officers and deputies to track down these people. Three weeks ago, we had a group come right in middle of town, they bailed out and we had to put all our schools on lockdown. We caught all eight individuals, but it took all day.”

In addition, McLaughlin said that there are often dozens of illegal immigrants piled on freight trains coming into his town. He said Border Patrol often lacks the resources to to check the freight trains, but recently they have caught as many as 35 in a single group. “These are the bad guys with criminal records. According to Border Patrol, 99 percent of these guys on those trains are bad guys and have criminal records. They can’t get in any other way, so they’re sneaking in on freight trains.”

McLaughlin noted that he called his Republican congressman, William Hurd, as well as the two Texas senators, the governor, and the state attorney general, but can’t get any meaningful response from them. “I don’t hear any of them prioritizing this issue. We had a citizen last week who was just on his property right where they stopped the freight train. Some of the illegals got off the train, got on his property, and confronted him. One of them started to get aggressive and the guy threatened him. That night he and his family couldn’t sleep. His grandkids won’t even come over any more to swim in the pool unless he sits there with a shotgun. That’s how much traffic we’re getting here right in Uvalde. He’s a farmer who’s been here all his life and is now thinking of moving.”

“There are ranchers around here seeing more break-ins and vehicles being stolen. It’s just a sad situation. We’ve dealt with immigration all our life, but we never had a problem of this magnitude. And most of them who used to come through were congenial people and we didn’t have to worry. Now they are aggressive. Some are coming to hunting camps and robbing the hunters.”

I heard a similar story earlier this year from county officials in New Mexico on how they see a huge change in the attitude of some of the migrants coming in through this wave from the past, even though they’ve been dealing with illegal immigration for many years.

Then of course there are the drugs. “Border Patrol is so busy with the families that the cartels are increasing the flow of narcotics with impunity,” warns McLaughlin.

Finally, there are the health issues. “They are taking them into a 10×10 room and asking them if they are OK. They have no idea what diseases they are carrying. We had two people quarantined here in Uvalde with the mumps, and there might be a third case. They are not doing anything to check these people for other diseases.”

Hidalgo County, Texas, already has 46 confirmed cases of mumps in the country. As I reported before, while Border Patrol screens out those in need of triage, there is no mechanism to ensure that all these migrants who don’t exhibit apparent symptoms of diseases in front of them are safe to be released.

Now, with the influx of Africans, particularly into the Del Rio Sector, the mayor said there is widespread concern of other diseases such as Ebola.

The small-town mayor is simply stupefied that major Texas state and federal politicians of both parties are not making a bigger deal of what’s going on. “Why don’t they hold a press conference attracting national attention? It’s going to take someone being killed in our community before we get the national attention.”

The tragedy of towns like Uvalde and similar areas in Texas is that they have a great history of doing immigration the right way. “We’re close to 90 percent Hispanic, and our community does not want these people in town. They get very upset they are being released here. They ought to be doing it like their grandparents did. They did it legally. These people are mad as hell.” (For more from the author of “Border Crisis: Texas Town Overrun with Crime and Disease, and This Mayor Has Had ENOUGH” please click HERE)

DOJ and Nadler Reach Deal over Subpoenaed Documents, Averting Contempt Vote for Now

Contempt of Congress proceedings against Attorney General William Barr are suspended for the time being following news that the Department of Justice has reached a subpoena compliance agreement with House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y.

“I am pleased to announce that the Department of Justice has agreed to begin complying with our committee’s subpoena by opening Robert Mueller’s most important files to us, providing us with key evidence that the Special Counsel used to assess whether the President and others obstructed justice or were engaged in other misconduct,” Nadler said in a Tuesday statement. “The Department will share the first of these documents with us later today. All members of the Judiciary Committee—Democrats and Republicans alike—will be able to view them. These documents will allow us to perform our constitutional duties and decide how to respond to the allegations laid out against the President by the Special Counsel.”

Previously, the Department and committee Democrats had been locked in a standoff over the committee’s subpoena for the full, unredacted Mueller report and all its underlying evidence. The DOJ said that it could not comply with the original request because some of the subpoenaed information was protected by federal rules and could therefore not be released without a court order.

When the committee threatened Barr with contempt of Congress charges, the White House responded by invoking executive privilege over the information in question.

In a letter sent to Nadler last week, however, the Department of Justice said that it was willing to resume negotiations with House Democrats, but only if the contempt proceedings against the attorney general are halted and reversed. That letter was in response to an offer from the committee to narrow the subpoena’s scope.

The announcement comes just a day before a contempt vote was expected on the House floor.

“Given our conversations with the Department, I will hold the criminal contempt process in abeyance for now. We have agreed to allow the Department time to demonstrate compliance with this agreement,” Nadler’s statement continues.

“If the Department proceeds in good faith and we are able to obtain everything that we need, then there will be no need to take further steps,” Nadler warns the department. “If important information is held back, then we will have no choice but to enforce our subpoena in court and consider other remedies.”

“We are pleased the Committee has agreed to set aside its contempt resolution and is returning to the traditional accommodation process,” said Department of Justice spokesperson Kerri Kupec in a statement emailed to Blaze Media. “The Department of Justice remains committed to appropriately accommodating Congress’s legitimate interests related to the Special Counsel’s Investigation and will continue to do so provided the previously voted-upon resolution does not advance.” (For more from the author of “DOJ and Nadler Reach Deal over Subpoenaed Documents, Averting Contempt Vote for Now” HERE)
