Mysterious Large Mass Discovered on Moon

A large mass of unknown material has been discovered on the largest crater on the Moon and scientists aren’t sure what it is.

According to an April 2019 study published in the journal Geophysical Research Letters, the researchers believe the mass could contain metal from an asteroid that crashed into the celestial satellite, which resulted in the aforementioned crater, known as the Lunar South Pole-Aitken basin.

“Imagine taking a pile of metal five times larger than the Big Island of Hawaii and burying it underground. That’s roughly how much unexpected mass we detected,” lead author Dr. Peter James, assistant professor of planetary geophysics at Baylor University, said in a statement. . .

“When we combined that with lunar topography data from the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, we discovered the unexpectedly large amount of mass hundreds of miles underneath the South Pole-Aitken basin,” James said. “One of the explanations of this extra mass is that the metal from the asteroid that formed this crater is still embedded in the Moon’s mantle.”

The anomaly – “whatever it is, wherever it came from,” James added – is weighing down the basin floor by more than half a mile. The team of researchers ran computer simulations that show the iron-nickel core of an asteroid could have been placed into the upper mantle of the Moon following impact. Two Former GOP State Senators Found Dead Days Apart

By Townhall. Within the span of two days, two former Republican State Senators were found dead.

Last week, Arkansas State Sen. Linda Collins-Smith was shot and killed outside of her home in Pocahontas, about 130 miles northeast Little Rock. She died of a gunshot wound and her body was found wrapped in a blanket. Her death is being investigated as a homicide. . .

Former Oklahoma State Sen. Jonathan Nichols was found two days later dead in his home in Norman, 20 miles south of Oklahoma City. He died of a gunshot. Investigators say a gun was on the table near Nichols’ body, The Oklahoman reported. Police say the case is still pending investigation, Fox News reported.

Funeral Set for Former Senator

By Arkansas Times. Funeral arrangements were announced today for Linda F. Collins (as the funeral home identified her; she’d been known in her political career as Linda Collins-Smith, but was divorced last fall from retired Judge Philip Smith). She was found dead at her home near Pocahontas earlier this week and the suspected homicide remains under investigation. The obituary at Fears Funeral Home suggested memorials to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis. It noted her career:

Linda accomplished much good during her lifetime. She was a former Arkansas State Representative and former Arkansas State Senator. In addition, she was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. She was a member of the following organizations: Gun Owners of America, Arkansas Hospitality Association, National Federation of Independent Business, Arkansas Chamber of Commerce, Randolph County Arkansas Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, Arkansas Lodging Association, Lower Mississippi Delta Development Council, and the Arkansas Federation of Republican Women. Linda was also proud to be the founder of the Randolph County Tourism Association and a supporter of the Patriots of Act 746, in Arkansas.

Police Raid a Home Hours Before Obtaining a Search Warrant. Three Judges Just Ruled the Evidence Is Admissible.

. . .In a legal decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, three judges determined that even though police illegally entered Paul Huskisson’s home without a warrant, the evidence they obtained during that illegal entrance could be used against him in court.

The story starts on February 5, 2016, when Anthony Hardy was arrested by Drug Enforcement Administration agents. He cut a deal by admitting to his drug offenses, giving up his drugs and guns, and providing the names of two local drug dealers to the authorities. One of those drug dealers was Huskisson, who at that time was unknown to Indianapolis DEA agents.

Hardy told agents he had been purchasing methamphetamine from Huskisson for months and that Huskisson was expecting a large shipment the day after Hardy was arrested. DEA agents listened to phone calls between Hardy and Huskisson about the shipment and recorded those phone calls.

On the day of the shipment, DEA agents were on standby as Hardy, Huskisson, and two other men handed off the drugs. When Hardy came outside and gave the signal, agents rushed into Huskisson’s home to secure the scene. The problem, however, was that they hadn’t received a search warrant to do so.

“Later that night, DEA agents filed the warrant application for Huskisson’s house. The application detailed Hardy’s history of drug deals with Huskisson, as well as the many phone calls between Hardy and Huskisson in the last twenty-four hours,” the judges wrote.

Senate Democrats: Americans ‘Have Obligation’ to Give Amnesty to Foreigners

A group of Senate Democrats say American citizens “have an obligation” to give amnesty to potentially millions of foreign nationals living in the United States who they say have “earned the right” to be in the country.

After House Democrats and seven House Republicans passed an expansive amnesty to any illegal alien claiming to have arrived in the U.S. as a child, Senate Democrats are now demanding the Senate do the same.

Senators Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), Ben Cardin (D-MD), and Tim Kaine (D-VA) are urging the GOP-controlled Senate to pass their amnesty plan, which gives nearly half a million foreign nationals living in the U.S. on Temporary Protected Status (TPS) a pathway to American citizenship.

Cardin said in a statement that Americans are obligated to give foreign nationals permanent legal residency and eventually U.S. citizenship via an amnesty. According to Cardin:

These individuals have lawfully lived and worked in the U.S. as our neighbors, as they sought refuge in the U.S. We have an obligation to take action and give needed predictability and safety to people who are in an uncertain status. We need to stand up for the American values of compassion and diversity that have made this country stronger. [Emphasis added]

Beto O’Rourke: I Will Prosecute Trump If I Win in 2020

Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX) accused President Donald Trump of committing crimes and said if he wins the presidency, he will direct his Justice Department to prosecute Trump.

Partial transcript as follows:

STEPHANOPOULOS: We heard House Speaker Nancy Pelosi say this week, she wants to see the president in prison. Do you think the president committed crimes that could be prosecuted?

O’ROURKE: He did. I think that’s clear from what we have learned from the Mueller report. But I think those crimes might extend beyond what we have seen in the Mueller report; using public office for personal gain, for himself and for his family, the relationship that he has with Vladimir Putin, which has never been properly explained from the invitation as a candidate to have Russia involve itself in our election, his efforts to obstruct justice, the fact that he called Vladimir Putin after the Mueller report was released, called it a hoax, thereby giving him a green light to further participate in our democracy and our elections. If with don’t hold the president accountable we’ll set the precedent that some people in this country, because of their position of power, are in fact above the law. And if we do that, we’ll lose this democracy forever. Regardless of the popularity of the idea or what the polling shows us, we must proceed with impeachment so we get the facts and the truth and at end of the day there’s justice for what was done to our democracy in 2016.

Facebook BANS Conservative Natural News Website

Facebook on Sunday removed the page for Natural News, a far-right conspiracy outlet that had nearly 3 million followers. Facebook did not immediately return a request for comment.

Natural News’ founder Mike Adams wrote on fellow-right wing conspiracy site Infowars that his site was “permanently banned” from posting. He told the Gateway Pundit, another far-right site, that the apparent ban is evidence of a conspiracy against his website. . .

Facebook has previously banned similar pages, including those for Infowars—a move criticized by the right as “censorship” by Silicon Valley.

In May, Facebook issued a new ban against Jones, plus bans against far-right figures like Paul Joseph Watson, Laura Loomer, and Milo Yiannopoulos, as well as anti-Semitie and Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan. (The bans also applied to Facebook-owned Instagram.)

Several American Embassies Defy Orders from Trump Administration to Honor ‘Pride Month’

By The Blaze. After the Trump administration formally denied requests from multiple United States embassies to hoist the LGBT flag in honor of “Pride Month,” several U.S. embassies and diplomatic missions are defying their orders. . .

Several embassies — including in Israel, Germany, Brazil, Latvia, among others — requested permission to honor “Pride Month” by flying rainbow flags. The requests, however, were denied.

American embassies have had official guidelines for honoring LGBT “Pride” events since 2011, when the Obama administration directed U.S. agencies involved in foreign policy to begin promoting LGBT rights. But the official State Department policy was changed last year by Mike Pompeo, a practicing Christian who became secretary of state last April. Trump Admin Tells U.S. Embassies They Can’t Fly Pride Flag on Flagpoles

By NBC News. . .Although the pride flag can and is being flown elsewhere on embassy grounds, including inside embassies and on exterior walls, the decision not to allow it on the official flagpole stands in contrast to President Donald Trump’s claim to be a leader in supporting LGBTQ rights overseas. Trump’s administration has announced a campaign to decriminalize homosexuality overseas and this month issued a tweet and formal statement to “celebrate LGBT Pride Month and recognize the outstanding contributions LGBT people have made.”

The denials to U.S. embassies have come from the office of the State Department’s undersecretary for management, Brian Bulatao, a longtime associate of Secretary of State Mike Pompeo who also worked for him at the CIA. Under State Department policy, embassies that want to fly the flag on their flagpoles are expected to obtain permission from Washington.

During the Obama administration, the government granted blanket permission to embassies overseas to fly the pride flag during June. This year, U.S. diplomats said, embassies were told they can display the pride flag in other places, including inside embassies, but that requests to fly it on the flagpole must be specifically approved. State’s First Openly Gay Deputy Sheriff Found Dead at His Desk in Apparent Suicide

By Fox News. Philadelphia’s first openly gay Deputy Sheriff committed suicide at his desk from an apparent gunshot wound on Friday, just before the city’s weekend of pride celebrations were set to begin.

Dante Austin, 27, was found dead at his desk at the Philadelphia Sheriff’s office. An official cause of death is awaiting confirmation from the local Medical Examiner’s office.

Austin was an Army veteran who also served as the department’s first LGBTQ community liaison and was known as a “fierce advocate.” He was set to be promoted to the position of sergeant next month, according to CBS Philly.

Texas Police Chief’s Body Found After Being Knocked Overboard by Large Wave

By Fox News. he Coast Guard-led search for a missing Texas police chief has ended with the recovery Sunday of his body.

Kemah Police Chief Chris Reed, a paratrooper when he served in the Army, was reported missing after being knocked off his fishing boat Friday into Galveston Bay by the wake of a passing large vessel.

At 7:54 a.m. Sunday a body matching the description of the chief was recovered from the water by a Galveston County Marine Unit boat crew near mile marker 32 on the west end of the Houston Ship Channel, the City of Kemah said. . .

Reed, 50, was out on his boat with his wife.

U.S. Makes HUGE Deal with Mexico

By Fox News. The U.S. has reached an agreement with Mexico that heads off the start of tariffs on Monday.

The deal, announced by President Trump via tweet on Friday night, is said to include plans to return migrants seeking asylum to Mexico, where they will remain until their claims can be processed.

“I am pleased to inform you that The United States of America has reached a signed agreement with Mexico. The Tariffs scheduled to be implemented by the U.S. on Monday, against Mexico, are hereby indefinitely suspended,” he said. “Mexico, in turn, has agreed to take strong measures to….stem the tide of Migration through Mexico, and to our Southern Border. This is being done to greatly reduce, or eliminate, Illegal Immigration coming from Mexico and into the United States. Details of the agreement will be released shortly by the State Department. Thank you!”

Trump had taken a tough position toward Mexico earlier in the day, tweeting, “If we are unable to make the deal, Mexico will begin paying Tariffs at the 5% level on Monday!” Mexico was able to avoid these tariffs on farm and agricultural products, according to Trump’s announcement.

Mexico promises to deploy its National Guard throughout Mexico, particularly at the border, increase actions to dismantle human trafficking operations to smuggle individuals across the border, and take extra steps to coordinate with the American government to share information and “better protect and secure our common border,” according to a statement from the State Department. Trump Calls off Plan to Impose Tariffs on Mexico

By The New York Times. . .The president’s threat that he would impose potentially crippling tariffs on the United States’ largest trading partner and one of its closest allies brought both countries to the brink of an economic and diplomatic crisis — only to be yanked back from the precipice nine days later. The threat had rattled companies across North America, including automakers and agricultural firms, which have built supply chains across Mexico, the United States and Canada.

Businesses had warned that the tariffs would increase costs for American consumers, who import everything from cucumbers to refrigerators from Mexico, and prompt retaliation from the Mexican government in the form of new trade barriers that would damage the United States economy.

But the trade war ended before it began, forestalling that economic reckoning and an intraparty war that Mr. Trump had created by threatening tariffs to leverage the immigration changes he demanded. That tactic had drawn stiff protests from Republicans, including many senators, who have long opposed tariffs and worried the measure would hurt American companies and consumers. This Prediction from Maxine Waters Is Being Thrown Back in Her Face After Deal with Mexico

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) is facing some ridicule from supporters of President Donald Trump after she predicted he would “cave” on the threat to impose tariffs on Mexico. . .

Just hours later, the president tweeted that he had reached an agreement with Mexico and he called off the threat of tariffs.

“Mexico will take unprecedented steps to increase enforcement to curb irregular migration, to include the deployment of its National Guard throughout Mexico, giving priority to its southern border,” read a statement from the state department. . .

Waters, undeterred, retweeted a post claiming that she was correct in her prediction that he would “cave” in order to avoid implementing the unpopular tariffs on Mexico.
