Meghan McCain Schools Joy Behar on Immigration After Ridiculous ‘Nazi Germany’ Comparison

Once again, Meghan McCain was the lone voice of reason on “The View” this week, this time as the ladies were discussing immigration. She is one courageous woman to hold the only point of rationality in a room full of agitated ignorance. To breakout applause, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, and Whoopi Goldberg were opining on the Trump administration’s policy of separating children and families at the border in order to discourage illegal immigration and groundless claims for asylum.

Behar called the policy of separating children from their parents “vicious” and likened it to Nazi Germany, although it is completely within the bounds of asylum law in this country. When a family requests asylum at a port of entry, they must demonstrate a “credible fear” of harm if they return to their home country. Many do. But Border Patrol officers say migrants are being coached to use “magic words” so they will fall within the statute of credible fear. . .

Meghan McCain sat in dignified silence through all of the rantings and then spoke up. “I disagree with a lot of what everyone’s saying.” She attempted to connect the dots of how we got to such a draconian “zero tolerance” policy, but she was essentially shouted down by the others who claim to know just fine, thank you very much, exactly how we got here.

I’m sure no one was listening, but Meghan had the final word: “We are a nation of borders and laws. If we are a nation without borders and laws, then we are not a nation.”

What is a nation? It’s a group of people with common descent, shared history and culture, and a bounded piece of land to call our own. It just so happens that the American nation is unique in all the world. No other country is an ideal always in the making. Millions of people long to come here because they want to be part of that ideal. The ideal only lives and they can only come if there’s a “here” to come to. A nation that cannot control its borders is not a nation. (Read more from “Meghan McCain Schools Joy Behar on Immigration After Ridiculous ‘Nazi Germany’ Comparison” HERE)

Comey’s FBI Was Protecting the Legitimacy of the Presumed Clinton Presidency

In late October of 2016 James Comey knew Donald Trump’s candidacy was as dead as a doornail. That must be distinctly understood or nothing wonderful can come from the story I am going to relate. Time soothes the edges of old emotions. We forget the shock of that election night. Almost two years now of articles and TV takes, even books, make Trump’s election seem understandable, even sometimes inevitable.

But that’s not how it was then. When FBI director Comey and the FBI dropped their late October Anthony Weiner surprise, they did so fully confident that Hillary Clinton would win. What we now know for certain from the Department of Justice inspector general report that came out Thursday is that the FBI chose to disclose the Weiner email fiasco to protect a Clinton presidency, a foregone conclusion, from potential claims from Trump that the FBI had rigged the election. . .

Comey gave us a taste of this back in April when George Stephanopoulos asked if he was assuming Clinton would win. He said: “I don’t remember consciously thinking about that, but it must have been. I was operating in a world where Hillary Clinton was going to beat Donald Trump. I’m sure that it was a factor. I don’t remember spelling it out, but it had to have been. That she’s going to be elected president, and if I hide this from the American people, she’ll be illegitimate the moment she’s elected, the moment this comes out.”

Whatever acid trip Comey was on that makes him feel only now that somehow this reality must have unconsciously affected his decision-making, the IG report presents much more self-aware choices. Take this testimony from Comey himself. The norm he talks about is not revealing information that can affect an election in the days leading up to it:

And so I said okay, those are the doors. One says speak, the other says conceal. Let’s see what’s behind the speak door. It’s really bad. We’re 11 days from a presidential election. Given the norm I’ve long operated under, that’s really bad. Open the second one. Catastrophic. And again this is something reasonable people can disagree about, but my view was to conceal at that point given all I had said would be catastrophic. Not just to the Bureau, but beyond the Bureau…

Trump BLASTS ‘Fake News’ Media for This Huge Claim

By The Daily Caller. President Donald Trump slammed the “fake news” media’s reporting on the G7 summit in a Friday tweet.

Trump specifically addressed reports that he did not get along with other world leaders like Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the 2018 G7 Summit. . .

The president responded to similar criticism during the G7 Summit when a reporter asked about the alleged tensions between the leaders. When Trump found out the reporter was from CNN, he called the network “the worst” and asserted that the relationship with other leaders was at a “10.”

Trump blasts ‘Fake News Media’ for G7 reporting, posts photos of smiling at summit

By Fox News. President Trump hit back at criticisms over his interactions with world leaders at the G7 summit last weekend in Canada, claiming Friday on Twitter that the “fake news media” were “once again, WRONG!”

“I have a great relationship with Angela Merkel of Germany, but the Fake News Media only shows the bad photos (implying anger) of negotiating an agreement – where I am asking for things that no other American President would ask for,” the president wrote alongside a series of photos that showed smiling interactions with the German chancellor and other leaders.

Those images were in stark contrast to a viral photo of Trump at the summit which showed what appeared to be a frustrated Merkel leaning in toward the president and national security advisor John Bolton. Trump, smirking, had his arms crossed in the photo.

Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau butted heads during the summit over tariffs. During the event the president agreed to participate in a group statement on trade – only to reverse course after Trudeau criticized Trump’s tariff threats at a summit-ending news conference.

At that event – which occurred after Trump had already left – the prime minister said that Canada wouldn’t be “pushed around” by the U.S. The declaration led to a subsequent tweetstorm from the president in which he lamented that “Fair Trade is now to be called Fool Trade.” (Read more from “Trump blasts ‘Fake News Media’ for G7 reporting, posts photos of smiling at summit” HERE)

Watch: Analysts Claim Trump Admin Is Operating Concentration Camps

Two MSNBC analysts falsely claimed on Friday that the Trump administration is operating concentration camps for illegal immigrant children who are separated from their parents.

Guests Stephanie Cutter and Michael Steele made the remarks, which went completely unchallenged by host Stephanie Ruhle. . .

“We can’t find a solution to this problem without harming children? Without putting them in concentration camps?” Cutter asked, according to the Free Beacon.

“I call this a concentration camp for kids,” Steele said. “When you give kids 22 hours of lock-up time and two hours of airtime, what else can it be? And if this is where this country’s going, the American people need to wake up and pay attention, because your kids could be next.”

‘We Do Not Separate Babies From Adults’: DHS Denies Allegation It ‘Ripped’ Breastfeeding Baby From Mother

Department of Homeland Security officials on Friday flatly denied a widely reported allegation that border authorities forcibly separated a breastfeeding baby from her mother while she was awaiting prosecution for entering the country illegally.

“We do not separate babies from adults,” a DHS official told reporters during a background briefing. “It’s a bright line.”

CNN first reported that an illegal immigrant from Honduras claimed federal authorities took her daughter while she breastfed the child at an immigration detention center in McAllen, Texas, on Tuesday. The CNN report was picked up by several national media outlets, including the Huffington Post, The Daily Beast and Vox, sparking further condemnation of the Trump administration’s policy of separating migrant families caught crossing the border illegally.

The CNN report did not quote the mother herself, but rather an attorney with the Texas Civil Rights Project who had reportedly interviewed the woman. A Customs and Border Protection spokesman denied the allegations in a statement to CNN on Wednesday. . .

Also Friday, the Department of Justice confirmed that 1,995 migrant children were separated from 1,940 adults from April 19 through May 31. The adults in that group were prosecuted for illegal entry, immigration violations, and in some cases, other criminal conduct. DOJ officials did not release a breakdown of the children’s ages or the charges brought against the adults. Steve King Reveals a Drastic Action the GOP Is Considering – Against Speaker Paul Ryan

Rep. Steve King (R-Texas) said Friday that there was a growing movement among members of the House Republicans to remove Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) from his position as House speakership. . .

“I also have got information that there are–I’ll say ‘members’–I say that plurally, with knowledge, that are considering introducing a motion to vacate the chair,” he added. “If they do that, that will throw this place into a tizzy and force the kind of election for a Speaker that may bring out someone who is a lot stronger on this.”

The most recent discontent came when Ryan propagated the details of an immigration compromise bill that many saw as conceding too many demands of the out-of-power Democrats. . .

“From the time that Paul Ryan announced that he would be retiring at the end of this Congress, his juice has been diminished day by day by day,” King continued. “It’s not a personal thing. It’s just a function of how things work.

“He has less power, less influence, and yet he’s still leading us into this amnesty piece,” he explained, referring to the immigration compromise bill. “People are acting like he’s the Speaker of the House who will be deciding who can chair which committees, who can be seated on which committees, and whose bills move forward in the next Congress.” (Read more from “Steve King Reveals a Drastic Action the GOP Is Considering – Against Speaker Paul Ryan” HERE)

Rep. Makes Stunning Accusation Over One IMPORTANT Text Revealed in IG Report; Anyone Who Voted Trump a “Lazy POS”

By The Blaze. Rep. Ron DeSantis lobbed an accusation at the Department of Justice over a text between anti-Trump FBI agents that was revealed in the Inspector General’s report released Thursday. . .

“The following is in the IG report,” DeSantis tweeted. “Why didn’t Rosenstein disclose this to Congress when we asked for the texts?”

“August 8 2016 Strzok-Page texts,” he added, then posted their exchange.

“Page: [Trump’s] not ever going to become President, right? Right?!” said one text according to the report.

“Strzok: No. No he’s not. We’ll stop it,” was the response from the FBI agent.

IG Report: Do You Support Trump? Then You’re a Lazy POS, According to (At Least One) FBI Employee

By The Blaze. A conversation between the two anonymous employees on the morning of Nov. 9, 2016 (the day after Donald Trump won the presidential election), indicates a mood of remorse over investigating Hillary Clinton, and a distain for Americans who voted for President Trump.

One of the employees, an attorney, is referred to in the probe only as “FBI Attorney 2.” The other “FBI Employee” was not involved in the Clinton investigation, but had quite a bit to say. Here is the exchange between the two:

11:02:22 FBI Employee: “All the people who were initially voting for her would not, and were not, swayed by any decision the FBI put out. Trump’s supporters are all poor to middle class, uneducated, lazy *POS that think that he will magically grant them jobs for doing nothing. They probably didn’t watch the debates, aren’t fully educated on his policies, and are stupidly wrapped up in his unmerited enthusiasm.”

Then the attorney responded: “And it’s just hard not to feel like the FBI caused some of this. It was razor thin in some states…plus, my god damned name is all over the legal documents investigating his staff.”

In case you didn’t read that closely the first time, the attorney said: “My [g**] damned name is all over the legal documents investigating his staff.” (Read more from “IG Report: Do You Support Trump? Then You’re a Lazy POS, According to (At Least One) FBI Employee” HERE)

Meet the Other FBI Staffers Who Texted About the Clinton Email Investigation

. . .Perhaps the most shocking information in the IG’s report is the revelation that Lisa Page and Peter Strzok were not the only amorous agents with a habit of texting. There were also “Agent 1” and “Agent 5,” who were involved in the Clinton investigation and, according to the IG’s report “were in a relationship at the time and are now married.” Their communications make for a searing indictment of the culture of the FBI and paint a portrait of the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email practices as fiasco.

Agent 1 was one of the key players in the investigation—one of just four “case agents” on the probe—and he not only expressed his political support for Clinton, he advocated against subjecting Hillary to an FBI interview. A few days before the Clinton confab, he sent an instant-message in which he complained about how many agents and attorneys were prepping for the questioning: “… very aggravating making this flow with 20+ voices for disparate information anyway.” Fair enough. But then, as the message goes on he suggests that he has a certain lack of enthusiasm for the whole affair. “We have nothing—shouldn’t even be interviewing” . . .

Asked by the IG about these comments, Agent 1 insisted he hadn’t meant his message: “I don’t want to make it sound like there was no reason to interview her.” As for explaining his “adamantly opposed” comments, Agent 1’s memory seemed to give out.

There are reasons to think that Agent 1 was dissatisfied because the organization was phoning in a politically determined investigation. But there are also reasons to think his unhappiness flowed from an admiration for Hillary. Take his message to Agent 5 after completing the questioning of Clinton: “done interviewing the President.”

And then there’s this heartfelt string of missives from Agent 1 to Agent 5 on November 8, 2016—election day: “You should know; … that I’m … with her.” (The IG helpfully adds in a footnote that “’I’m with her’ was one of the Clinton campaign slogans.”) (Read more from “Meet the Other FBI Staffers Who Texted About the Clinton Email Investigation” HERE)

Mark Meadows on IG Report: ‘Rosenstein Must Be Held Accountable for His Obstructionist Conduct’

House Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows (R-NC) released a statement on Thursday, charging that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein “must be held accountable for his obstructionist conduct” after the Inspector General (IG) report was released.

Inspector General Michael Horowitz released his highly-anticipated report, which detailed the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation. The report reveals a previously undisclosed text exchange between FBI agent Peter Strzok and his mistress Lisa Page. Strzok told Page that “We’ll stop it,” when asked about Donald Trump potentially being elected president. . .

The House Freedom Caucus chairman then chastised Rosenstein for hiding the text suggesting that Strzok will stop Trump from becoming president.

Meadows continued:

Even more disturbing is the idea that Congress is just now learning of information we should have received from the DOJ months ago. Why are we just now learning of a text message where Peter Strzok discusses “stopping” Donald Trump from becoming President? Why did Rod Rosenstein and the Justice Department hide this text message from investigators? There is absolutely no excuse. The fact that we are finding out about this text in an OIG report once again confirms that Mr. Rosenstein has zero interest in anything even approaching transparency.

FBI Vows to Train Employees to Avoid Bias After Devastating Report

The FBI will make its employees undergo bias training, Director Christopher A. Wray promised Thursday, after a devastating report found the bureau made bad decisions, has a culture of leaking sensitive information, and may have skewed campaign-season decisions because of bias. . .

The inspector general also said the FBI was rife with people leaking to the press, or holding other cozy relationships that should worry the bureau. Some employees accepted sports tickets, went on golf outings, or had their dinners paid for by reporters. . .

The FBI has been under fire for its operations during the 2016 campaign, when it was conducting several investigations into matters surrounding Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, and also began a probe into Republican candidate Mr. Trump.

Mr. Trump fired FBI Director James B. Comey for his handling of the probe, and others have also been disciplined.

The new report said that while bias didn’t appear to affect the big decisions in the handling of the initial investigation into Mrs. Clinton’s email practices, they couldn’t rule out a role for bias in pushing the FBI to focus on the Russia probe in October 2016, rather than go back to review a new set of emails found on the laptop of Anthony Weiner, who was married to Mrs. Clinton’s top personal aide, Huma Abedin.
