Councilman Brags He ‘Chased NRA Members Underground,’ Quickly Learns He’s Not so Smart

A New York City councilman boasting about chasing “NRA members underground” is under fire for comments that many likened to those once made by brown-shirt fascists.

Justin Brannan, a New York City Councilmember from Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, tweeted out a celebratory comment about how “we’ve successfully chased the @NRA underground in #Brooklyn. Now they’ve gotta sneak around behind our backs and book catering halls under fake names just to have a meeting.”

Gloating about depriving fellow citizens of their right to gather “sounds about right,” to the 39-year-old Democrat.

Brannan, a former professional musician, was responding to a story from the Brooklyn Reporter detailing how the Brooklyn Friends of the NRA had to reschedule their event two times over the last few months over objections by local residents and elected officials.

The Real Reason Republicans Are Retiring? Fear of Assassination, According to GOP Lawmaker

Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Ala., said a wave of his fellow Republicans are retiring because they may fear being assassinated.

Brooks made the remark while speaking on “The Dale Jackson Show” about the first Republican congressional baseball team practice since House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., was shot and injured last year, according to Roll Call .

“One of the things that’s concerning me is the assassination risk may become a factor,” he said of Republican lawmakers retiring.

Brooks pointed to the number of members on the Republican baseball team who are not running for re-election. Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., and Reps. Ryan Costello, R-Pa., Pat Meehan, R-Pa., Dennis Ross, R-Fla., and Tom Rooney, R-Fla., have announced their retirements. (Read more from “The Real Reason Republicans Are Retiring? Previously Lost Peter Strzok, Lisa Page Texts Leaked to Media

By The Washington Examiner. A pivotal array of previously missing text message exchanges between Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, two FBI officials who in their conversations displayed a bias against President Trump, sent to Congress with redactions this week have been leaked to the media.

Hours after five congressional committees received the recovered text messages, the Daily Caller News Foundation obtained them and subsequently published them.

These text messages were exchanged between Dec. 14, 2016, and May 17, 2017, a critical time period that stretches from the presidential transition period to the first several months of the Trump administration, during which former national security adviser Michael Flynn resigned under pressure and former FBI Director James Comey was fired. . .

“Having a tough time processing tonight, Lis. Feeling a profound sense of loss,” Strzok wrote several days after Comey was terminated.

“I feel that same loss,” Page said in response. “I want to see what the FBI could become under him! His vision of greatness for our strong but flawed organization. I’m angry. Angry and mourning.” (Read more from “Previously Lost Peter Strzok, Lisa Page Texts Leaked to Media” HERE)

Read the Strzok-Page Texts the DOJ Handed over to Congress

By The Daily Caller. Many of the text messages in the 49 page release are shorthand and are not entirely clear to the outside interpreter. The congressional committees that obtained the messages Thursday will likely siphon through them to see if, as GOP lawmakers currently believe, there is any evidence of political bias on the part of Strozk and Page.

Strzok was the chief investigator during the investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server and, notably, watched over the FBI’s investigation into Russian influence in the 2016 presidential election.

A group of House Republicans are calling for the Department of Justice to investigate Strzok and Page for their potential involvement in a potential interference scheme in the Clinton private email case.

A number of the text messages released thus far between Strzok and Page have caused congressional Republicans to raise their eyebrows.

For example, Strzok told Page that he wanted to have an “insurance policy” in the off chance that Trump defeated Clinton in the 2016 election. (Read more from “Read the Strzok-Page Texts the Doj Handed over to Congress” HERE)

Michigan Candidate Under Attack for Warning About Islamic ‘Civilization Jihad’ in U.S.

Michigan state senators criticized a gubernatorial candidate on Thursday for making claims about a “civilization jihad” the Muslim Brotherhood started in the U.S.

State Sen. Patrick Colbeck on Thursday defended statements in which he claimed the Muslim Brotherhood orchestrated a cultural jihad in the U.S. and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Dr. Abdul El-Sayed also had ties to the Muslim Brotherhood via the Muslim Student Association, according to The Associated Press. Colbeck’s defense came two days after Buzzfeed reported he made similar accusations at an event United West hosted — the senator garnered harsh criticism from Democratic state senators.

“There’s a lot of pressure being applied in our society right now. You’re seeing Muslim legislators in the state legislature. And you’re seeing also a push at the local level at city councils,” Colbeck said at the event where he presented a slideshow featuring “Civilization Jihad Techniques” as a subject.

“But we also have somebody [who] I will likely be running against in the general election, Dr. Abdul El-Sayed, whose parents apparently have ties to Muslim Brotherhood back in Egypt. This is scary stuff. They’re already advertising him as the first Muslim governor. So this is a big deal,” he added.

Democratic state senators decried his comments and the defense thereof as cowardly, unsubstantiated, and a ploy to garner attention for his candidacy. (Read more from “Michigan Candidate Under Attack for Warning About Islamic ‘Civilization Jihad’ in U.S.” HERE)

LAPD Officer Arrested for Trying to Smuggle Immigrants Across Border

By CBS News. A Los Angeles police officer has been arrested on federal charges alleging he tried to smuggle two illegal immigrants into the United States this week in southeastern San Diego County.

Mambasse Koulabalo Patara has been charged with violating immigration laws, according to a federal complaint filed Wednesday.

He was arrested early Tuesday morning at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint in Pine Valley, located about 12 miles north of the U.S.-Mexico border.

According to the complaint, at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, Patara drove up to the checkpoint with two male passengers in a 2006 Toyota Corolla.

While being interviewed by Border Patrol agents, Koulabalo showed them his LAPD badge and stated he was off-duty, the complaint states. Agents later patted him down and found his service-issued gun in his waistband, the complaint reads. (Read more from “LAPD Officer Arrested for Trying to Smuggle Immigrants Across Border” HERE)

Feds Struggle to Cope with Growing Wave of Unaccompanied Child Migrants

By The Daily Caller. Unaccompanied children continue to be one of the government’s biggest and most complex immigration challenges, Trump administration officials said Thursday.

In testimony before a Senate Homeland Security subcommittee, senior officials with the Departments of Homeland Security (DHS) and Health and Human Services (HHS) told lawmakers that federal agencies are struggling to process and keep track of migrant children after they are caught illegally crossing the southwest border.

Illustrating the point, Steven Wagner, the acting head of HHS’s Administration for Children and Families, revealed that his agency lost track of nearly 20 percent of the migrant children placed with sponsors during a three month period last year.

From October to December 2017, officials at the HHS’s refugee office contacted 7,635 children and their sponsors, but were unable to determine with certainty the whereabouts of 1,475 of them, Wagner said in prepared testimony.

Details of the unaccompanied alien children (UAC) programs came as Congress seeks to evaluate how federal agencies ensure migrant children in their care are tracked as they wind their way through years-long immigration court proceedings. Government watchdogs have found deficiencies in the programs, despite a February 2016 memorandum of agreement between DHS and HHS to establish new guidelines for handling UAC cases. Top Homeland Security Officials Urge Criminal Prosecution of Parents Crossing Border with Children

By The Washington Post. The nation’s top immigration and border officials are urging Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen to detain and prosecute all parents caught crossing the Mexican border illegally with their children, a stark change in policy that would result in the separation of families that until now have mostly been kept together.

If approved, the zero-tolerance measure could split up thousands of families, although officials say they would not prosecute those who turn themselves in at legal ports of entry and claim asylum. More than 20,000 of the 30,000 migrants who sought asylum during the first quarter — the period from October-December — of the current fiscal year crossed the border illegally.

In a memorandum that outlines the proposal and was obtained by The Washington Post, officials say that threatening adults with criminal charges and prison time would be the “most effective” way to reverse the steadily rising number of attempted crossings. Most parents now caught crossing the border illegally with their children are quickly released to await civil deportation hearings. Internet Star Ken Bone Says Son Was Suspended from School for Going to a Gun Range

Ken Bone, the man who became Internet famous for asking questions during one of the 2016 Presidential debates (and for wearing a now-iconic red pullover), says his son was suspended from school pending an investigation after Bone posted a photo of him and his son getting time in at the gun range.

On Thursday, Bone reposted the photo, noting that his son was now facing an inquiry from school officials.

Bone initially posted the photo as a response to Parkland mass shooting survivor Kyle Kashuv after Kashuv, himself, was questioned by police over a photo of him spending time at the gun range learning how to operate an AR-15. Bone captioned the photo with a story about how he was teaching his son “how to shoot safely,” and suggesting that “maybe those security guys want to talk to him.”

REVEALED: Kanye West Is Watching Conservative Thinker Jordan Peterson’s Videos. Peterson’s Reaction Is Priceless.

A new tweet containing a video posted by Kanye West shows the rapper had his browser opened to a video by massively-influential conservative professor and speaker Dr. Jordan Peterson.

Here’s the tweet:

At the top left, a tab reads, “Why You Need Art in Your Life,” which is the title of a video of a Dr. Peterson lecture . . .

This is a tough break for the Left, recently crushed by West’s profession of “love” for President Donald Trump, whom they despise. Now West is listening to a thought-provoking values-centered professor who’s been known to advocate for freedom of thought and free speech — issues leftists are not exactly crazy about. Not to mention that Peterson first hit the media for pushing-back against the Left’s transgender ideology, an unspeakable sin to the Left. Bill Cosby Found Guilty of Sexual Assault

By CNN. A jury found Bill Cosby guilty of three counts of aggravated indecent assault on Thursday, for drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand at his home in a Philadelphia suburb in 2004.

The 80-year-old comedian faces up to 10 years in prison on each count, but Cosby is likely to serve them concurrently. A sentencing hearing with Judge Steven O’Neill has not yet been scheduled, and Cosby remains out on bail.

Cosby did not audibly react to his conviction, but erupted shortly afterward. Minutes after the verdict, prosecutors asked the judge to revoke Cosby’s bail. They said he is a flight risk and has a private plane.

Cosby, who did not testify in the trial and has sat quietly through the proceedings, stood up and yelled in a booming voice: “He doesn’t have a plane, you asshole. (Read more from “Bill Cosby Found Guilty of Sexual Assault” HERE)

Bill Cosby Found Guilty of Sexual Assault in Retrial

By The New York Times. A jury found Bill Cosby guilty Thursday of drugging and sexually assaulting a woman at his home near here 14 years ago, capping the downfall of one of the world’s best-known entertainers, and offering a measure of satisfaction to the dozens of women who for years have accused him of similar assaults against them.

On the second day of its deliberations at the Montgomery County Courthouse, the jury convicted Mr. Cosby of three counts of aggravated indecent assault against Andrea Constand, at the time a Temple University employee . . .

The impression of change was evident within the trial itself when the defense attacked the credibility of five women who had testified that they, too, believed Mr. Cosby had drugged and sexually assaulted them. Kathleen Bliss, one of Mr. Cosby’s lawyers, called one of the women a failed starlet who slept around. She branded another a publicity seeker. This Is Why Trump Calls Comey a ‘Liar’ and a ‘Leaker’

By WND. Former FBI director James Comey insisted in a Fox News interview Thursday evening he did not violate the law when he had a friend pass on to the media memos of his conversations with President Trump, which had portions that later were determined by the FBI to be classified.

“Special Report” anchor Bret Baier noted that the employment agreement Comey signed with the FBI prohibits the disclosure of any information related to bureau files or acquired by virtue of his employment without prior written permission from the FBI.

“Did you have written permission?” Baier asked.

“No,” Comey said. “And I didn’t consider it part of an FBI file.”

But isn’t a memo of the FBI director’s conversation with the president of the United States considered “work product”? (Read more from “This Is Why Trump Calls Comey a ‘Liar’ and a ‘Leaker'” HERE)

Comey Says Justice Department Watchdog Interviewed Him over Handling of Memos

By Fox News. Former FBI Director James Comey told Fox News on Thursday night that the Justice Department’s Office of the Inspector General has interviewed him about his handling of memos detailing conversations between Comey and President Trump.

Fox News reported last week that the DOJ watchdog was looking into whether Comey gave classified information to unauthorized sources as part of a broader review of the former director’s outside communications, including with the media.

Comey told “Special Report” host Bret Baier that he expected Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz to issue a report about the memos “not on the handling of classified information, because that’s frivolous, but on: Did I comply with policy? Did I comply with my employment agreement?”

Comey, whom Trump fired in May 2017, emphatically denied Thursday that sharing the memos with his legal team constituted a leak of classified information. Instead he compared the process to keeping a “diary.”

“I didn’t consider it part of an FBI file,” Comey told Baier when discussing one of the memos. “It was my personal aide-memoire … I always thought of it as mine.” (Read more from “Comey Says Justice Department Watchdog Interviewed Him over Handling of Memos” HERE)
