Loretta Lynch Releases Statement Slamming Comey Before Interview

On Sunday, former Attorney General Loretta Lynch released a statement slamming former FBI Director James Comey just hours before a blockbuster interview of him with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos is set to air.

In a 330-plus word statement, Lynch highlighted what she claims are her career accomplishments before turning her attention to Comey’s upcoming interview. Addressing the issue of the criminal investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server, Lynch wrote:

I have known James Comey almost 30 years. Throughout his time as Director we spoke regularly about some of the most sensitive issues in law enforcement and national security. If he had any concerns regarding the email investigation, classified or not, he had ample opportunities to raise them with me both privately and in meetings. He never did.

Lynch’s statement comes just hours before Comey’s interview with Stephanopoulos is set to air on ABC News. In the interview, Comey addresses his decision in October 2016 to announce that he was reopening the investigation into Clinton’s use of a private email server, just days before the election.

“I was operating in a world where Hillary Clinton was going to beat Donald Trump,” Comey says in the interview. “And so I’m sure that it was a factor. Articles of Impeachment Drafted for Rosenstein

By The Daily Wire. On Friday, Fox News reported that articles of impeachment have been drafted for Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, although they have not yet been officially filed.

Fox News’ congressional reporter Chad Pergram reported that the articles of impeachment have been drafted although it is not clear which lawmaker drafted the articles and it’s not clear if they will go to a committee or to the floor.

What Happens If Trump Fires Rosenstein?

By Politico. Figuring out whether or when President Donald Trump will try to fire special counsel Robert Mueller is Washington’s favorite parlor game of the moment.

The easiest way for Trump to fire Mueller is to order someone else to do it — and the most obvious person to start with is Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who stepped in to oversee the federal probe into the Trump campaign’s ties with Russia after Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself last year.

When President Richard Nixon tried something similar in 1973, Attorney General Elliot Richardson resigned after refusing Nixon’s demand to fire Archibald Cox, who was investigating Watergate. Richardson’s deputy also rebuffed the order and resigned, leaving then-Solicitor General Robert Bork to ultimately carry out the deed. The bloodletting in the top ranks of the Justice Department came to be known as the Saturday Night Massacre.

Rosenstein said in congressional testimony last year that he would refuse to fire Mueller unless he’d engaged in some misconduct. “I would follow the regulation. If there were good cause, I would act. If there were no good cause, I would not,” Rosenstein told the House Judiciary Committee last December.

But an array of Trump allies — everyone from onetime campaign manager Corey Lewandowski to former strategist Steve Bannon — have urged Trump in recent days to fire Rosenstein, who authorized the raid earlier this week on longtime Trump lawyer Michael Cohen, provoking growing speculation that the deputy attorney general might be on his way out. Democrat Letters to Trump Reveal a Likely Source of Leaks About EPA’s Scott Pruitt

Democratic lawmakers sent letters to the White House and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that revealed a likely source of leaks to the media regarding Administrator Scott Pruitt.

Democrats want EPA to handover documents in an effort to substantiate allegations EPA Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations Kevin Chmielewski made. Chmielewski detailed allegations previously reported from news outlets related to Pruitt’s first-class travel, living arrangements, and giving raises to close aides.

Chmielewski featured prominently in a recent The New York Times story on Pruitt’s removing or reassigning of five agency officials, including the former deputy. Many claims made in NYT’s article are also made by Chmielewski in Democrats’ letter.

“The new information provided by Mr. Chmielewski, if accurate, leaves us certain that your leadership at EPA has been fraught with numerous and repeated unethical and potentially illegal actions on a wide range of consequential matters that you and some members of your staff directed,” five Democratic lawmakers wrote in their letter.

Liberal Thugs in NYC Threaten Foreign Tourist, Take His MAGA Hat at Knife Point

By The Daily Caller. A New York City tourist from Denmark had his Make America Great Again hat stolen at knife point Thursday and was physically threatened when he tried to take it back.

The 18-year-old unnamed victim was headed for the subway near Union Square when he was accosted by two men who grabbed him from behind,” The New York Post reported.

Tourist Mugged at Knifepoint for MAGA Hat

By The New York Post. A Danish tourist on a school trip was robbed at knifepoint by two thugs who snatched his “Make America Great Again” cap — and threatened him when he tried to get it back, authorities said . . .

“I began to shake, and as I heard the word knife I let the hat go,” he said.

Andersen said he bought the hat in New York — but never thought it would make him the victim of a crime.

Leaked Emails Show Democrats Planning Nationwide Protests, Here’s the Ridiculous Reason Why

Democrats believe President Donald Trump will take action to stop the Russia investigation this weekend and are contacting local organizers around the country to plan protests, leaked emails to The Daily Caller News Foundation show.

Connecticut Democratic Rep. Jim Himes sent an email out to field organizers in Norwalk and other towns in his home state Friday outlining his concerns that the president will fire either Attorney General Jeff Session, FBI Director Rod Rosenstein, or special counsel Robert Mueller . . .

The leaked email, authored personally by Himes, says that the congressman believes “that in the next 48 hours, it is more likely than not that the President acts against Attorney General Sessions, Deputy AG Rosenstein, and/or Special Counsel Mueller. His intent will be to end Mueller’s investigation.” . . .

“In both cases, constitutional order and rule of law are at stake. As a consequence, it is important that we speak and act in a coordinated manner,” Himes wrote to Connecticut party officials, referencing the need for organizers to begin planning.

New Details Emerge About Investigation Into Trump’s Lawyer

DOJ: Michael Cohen ‘Under Criminal Investigation’

By CNN. . .The revelation comes amid a courtroom drama that unfolded Friday, as Cohen’s attorneys and Trump’s attorneys began a fight hours before with the US Attorney’s Office in Manhattan over a massive raid of Cohen’s records.

Cohen’s attorneys have filed a temporary restraining order in the matter, asking the court to stop federal prosecutors from using some of the records they seized. Cohen did not appear in court Friday morning and has not been charged with a crime.

In response to Cohen’s motion to prevent prosecutors from using evidence collected in Monday’s raids of his home and office, the US attorney in New York asserted the raids were authorized by a federal judge to seek evidence of conduct “for which Cohen is under criminal investigation.” . . .

But the filing contains the first details released by the Justice Department on the searches, which covered Cohen’s residence, hotel room, office, safety deposit boxes and two cell phones. Previous search warrants allowed New York federal prosecutors to search multiple email accounts, the filing said. Democrats’ Stunning New ‘Ideological Purity Test’

Traditional marriage is in the crosshairs of the progressive left again this week, as a sitting U.S. senator suggested secretary of state nominee Mike Pompeo was unfit for office because he opposes same-sex marriage, and a New Yorker column expressed horror over the successful expansion of Chick-fil-A in New York City.

On Thursday, Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., questioned Pompeo as part of the confirmation process and used part of his time to pepper Pompeo about his views on marriage and whether be believes “gay sex is a perversion.” He refused to accept Pompeo’s contention that he did not believe in same-sex marriage but would treat all subordinates equally.

National Organization for Marriage Communications Director Joseph Grabowski says this is the latest sign of a troubling litmus test being imposed by the left.

“I think this is a demonstration of an ideological purity test that unfortunately is becoming common in the Democratic Party. We’ve already seen it on the life issue and a woman’s so-called right to have an abortion. Now we’re seeing it also with respect to beliefs about marriage that people can hold personally,” said Grabowski, noting that as recently as 2008, both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton publicly opposed same-sex marriage.

Booker couched his comments as being in the interest of State Department employees who might have same-sex spouses, but Grabowski says the implication was clear that “somehow this view that Mr. Pompeo holds as a matter of personal belief, as a matter of religious conviction, disqualifies him from public service.” (Read more from “Democrats’ Stunning New ‘Ideological Purity Test'” HERE)

Coffee Shop Attacked, Vandalized, Closed After Posting Happy Sign Libs Didn’t Like

Vandals smashed a window. The words “white coffee” were spray painted in a cruel joke on the building’s exterior. . .

The reason the shop known as Ink! Coffee was in liberal crosshairs was that it committed the sin of “gentrification” — and maybe the bigger sin of being proud of it — two sins that are apparently unforgiveable to the modern liberal . . .

It was a clapboard sign on the sidewalk like a million other signs that have stood outside coffee shops and restaurants, carrying messages like the day’s specials or happy hour drink prices. This one said, “Happily Gentrifying the Neighborhood Since 2014.”

As Helen Raleigh wrote in a piece published by The American Conservative on Tuesday:

“The sign didn’t go over so well with some residents, many of whom congregated outside the little coffee shop in an angry mood. Hundreds showed up during a subsequent weekend to protest against the gentrification of their neighborhood, which they said had pushed out longtime minority residents. The shop building was sprayed with graffiti; at least one window was broken; the offending sign was carted off. The protesters demanded that the shop be shut down. Some wanted it replaced with a community center dedicated to helping residents with housing and other issues stemming from rising living costs in their neighborhood.”

Remember the Girl With the Armed Graduation Photo? ABC Journalists Called the Cops on Her

A photo of a young woman wearing a T-shirt supporting President Donald Trump and displaying a concealed weapon is wrong in so many ways to many on the left . . .

The photo Brenna Spencer posted on her Twitter account Saturday to commemorate her upcoming graduation from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga certainly stirred up plenty of emotions . . .

One critic of the picture alleged that Spencer broke the law by having her weapon visible at Chattanooga’s Hunter Museum of American Art. Spencer was standing outside of the museum when the photo was taken.

That same person even posted a screenshot of an article from ArtNews.com, which lists the Hunter Museum of American Art as being among the museums that does not allow citizens to carry firearms on its grounds.

WTVC, the ABC News affiliate in Chattanooga, contacted the Chattanooga Police Department about the legality of Spencer’s picture, but didn’t receive a reply to their request for a comment. Father Gives Thug Instant Justice for Allegedly Trying to Snatch 3-Yr-Old Daughter

By The Daily Caller. A father in California caught a man allegedly attempting to kidnap his 3-year-old daughter and left him with a bloody face.

The man’s daughter was playing at a park outside of Sacramento, Calif., while her mother and the mother’s boyfriend were walking their dog nearby. Yonel Hernandez-Velasco, 26, allegedly walked up to the girl, grabbed her hand and began “skipping” away with her, The Sacramento Bee reported.

The mother then called the girl’s father, Fred Cantrell Jr., who lives across the street from the park. When he heard what was happening, he rushed over and confronted Hernandez-Velasco who was reportedly acting “aggressively.”

Hernandez-Velasco pulled out a pair of handcuffs, which he tried to use as brass knuckles, and began running at Cantrell Jr. The girl’s father immediately punched Hernandez-Velasco in the face, knocking him to the ground.

California Dad Decked Man Who Allegedly Tried to Kidnap His Daughter, 3, Report Says

By Fox News. A quick-thinking father decked a man who was allegedly attempting to kidnap his 3-year-old daughter and punched him twice during the confrontation, The Sacramento Bee reported.

The girl had been playing at the park– 33 miles northeast of Sacaramento– while her mother and the mother’s boyfriend were walking their dog nearby . . .

The suspect pulled out a pair of handcuffs from his pocket and used them as brass knuckles, authorities said. The suspect allegedly charged at Cantrell who punched him. The suspect fell to the ground, got up and charged Cantrell for a second time and was punched again, the news release said. After the second punch, the suspect remained on the ground until authorities arrived.

A group of boys who had been playing basketball told police the suspect had approached them asking to buy their basketball, The Bee reported. When they refused, he allegedly showed them his pair of handcuffs and said he could handcuff one of them and drag them into the pond.
