Hillary Clinton Lambastes Republicans in Arkansas Homecoming

A Democrat is not likely to win this state in the 2016 presidential election, not even one with the last name Clinton.

But on Saturday, Hillary Rodham Clinton returned to Arkansas where she and her husband began their political ascent, delivering a fiery critique of Republican policies and a pep talk of sorts for Democrats who suffered dramatic losses in the midterm elections.

Mrs. Clinton lambasted Republicans as “the party of the past” and tried to portray the extreme comments of one candidate, the businessman and reality TV star, Donald Trump, as representative of the entire party.

“There’s nothing funny about the hate he is spewing at immigrants and their families,” Mrs. Clinton said of Mr. Trump who addressed Arkansas Republicans in Hot Springs, Ark. on Friday. But, she added, of the other Republican candidates, “The sad truth is if you look at many of their policies, it can be hard to tell the difference.”

Mrs. Clinton denounced comments made by Mr. Trump (who she referred to as the “Republican frontrunner”) about Senator John McCain’s war record and she said it was “shameful” how long it has taken other Republican candidates “to start standing up to him.” (Read more from “Hillary Clinton Lambastes Republicans in Arkansas Homecoming” HERE)

Chattanooga: The Effects of Our Suicidal Immigration Policy

The deadly terror attack that killed four Marines in Chattanooga will undoubtedly weigh on Americans sitting around the dinner table and present questions for many heading into the weekend. Why have we not learned the lessons of 9/11?

This past month, liberals looked throughout the country to destroy every last vestige of Civil War history in the pursuit of a peaceful utopia. In the state of Tennessee, liberals are in the process of disinterring the grave of confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest. But nobody is willing to discuss the biggest existential threat to our national security, despite yet another sad reminder with the Islamic terror attack that killed four Marines in Chattanooga, Tennessee yesterday.

When are we going to stop letting in Islamic terrorists through our front door?

In an open country, we will always have criminal threats from a portion of our native population. There is a limit to what can be done to prevent violent attacks. But immigration is elective. It is optional. We should never be admitting entire classes of people from the most volatile Islamic countries at a time like this.

After 9/11, when the bipartisan 9/11 Commission identified the obvious root cause of the attack as an immigration problem, we doubled down on stupidity. The U.S. has admitted roughly 1.6 million individuals from predominantly Muslim countries since 9/11 – twice the rate of immigration from that part of the world relative to the previous decade.

The Most Important Lesson of Chattanooga Terror Attack

The Islamic terrorist who murdered four marines at a recruiting station, Mohammad Youssduf Adbulazeer, was an immigrant from Kuwait. Let’s be honest, not a single person has been killed in this country in recent history from a killer acquiring inspiration from the confederate flag and generals. Yet, we have had countless Islamic terror attacks on our soil since 9/11 that have been directly inspired by the Islamic ideology and the teachings of Sharia.

We could joke about the lack of outrage and desire to ban Islamic paraphernalia and flags in light of the Chattanooga attack with the same alacrity the Left exhibited following the Charleston shooting. But the more serious question is why we won’t address the core issue of Islamic immigration. Talk about “immigration reform,” for once!

We can waste trillions of dollars and incur thousands of casualties refereeing endless Islamic civil wars oversees. We can tip the scales of power from ISIS to Iran in response to this terror attack. But what will that accomplish if we have already let in so many ticking time bombs through our front door and continue to do so on a daily basis?

We can talk about the absurdity of gun-free zones on military installations, and that is a valid point. As Mark Levin observed last night, the Iranian Islamists can be trusted with nukes but our military cannot be trusted with guns on their own bases. But the most fundamental problem is suicidal immigration. And it’s time we wake up as the political class gears up for new waves of immigration from the Middle East.

Here’s why.

Growing Radicalism Among American Muslims, Particularly Young Males

According to a new poll commissioned by the Center for Security Policy, 51% of Muslims in America believe “Muslims in America should have the choice of being governed according to sharia.” Twenty-nine percent agree that violence against those who insult Mohammad is acceptable and 25% agree that violence against America can be justified as part of Global Jihad. Among males under the age of 45 that number rises to 36%. Twenty-nine percent of males under 45 believe that violence against America is justified in order to make Sharia the law of the land. With an estimated 3 million Muslims in this country (projected to triple by 2050), that could mean there are hundreds of thousands of radicalized ones.

The more precipitously Muslim immigrants are admitted to this country, the less likely they will assimilate and the more likely they will cluster in cities and cultivate a climate of Jihad. The numbers speak for themselves. This is by no means the majority of Muslims, but 25% support for Jihad is an awful lot of security risks, especially among young males.

With so many security threats already brought here in the unforced error of suicidal immigration – the FBI is investigating homegrown terror in all 50 states – the least we can do is immediately prevent more bad decisions in the future. There are two immediate courses of action that must be taken: preventing a mass wave of Syrian refugees and clamping down on the terrorist funding of Mosques in America.

Broken Refugee System

One of the most imminent threats to our country is the broken refugee system. As we’ve noted here many times, our refugee system has been abused to become a magnet for endless waves of radical Muslims. There has been a terror infestation among the Somali refugees in Minneapolis. After admitting over 100,000 Somali refugees from 1993-2013, we are still bringing in up to 10,000 more each year. Of the 15,470 Somali refugees brought in since fiscal year 2014, 99.7% have been Muslim.

Now Obama plans to bring in thousands of Syrian refugees. At present, we’ve admitted over a thousand Syrians the past two fiscal years and more than 94% of them are Muslims. Syrian refugees, much like Iraqi refugees, represents a prima facie threat. There are hundreds of thousands of people displaced from their homes in an Islamic civil war that involves so many disparate factions. Just because they are displaced doesn’t mean they don’t harbor radical Islamic views. Why are we doing this?

Where We Go From Here

It’s time for Congress to:

Block all Syrian refugees until a proper vetting system is presented to Congress by this administration. The Chattanooga jihadist’s family emigrated here from Kuwait after the Gulf War. It’s a mistake to bring people in from parts of the world that are going through upheaval when we have strong concerns about Islamic terror.

Block the expansion of 3,000 Special Afghan Visas that are included in the NDAA – a bill that might get a final vote in Congress next week.

Designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a terror group and prevent them from funding mosques inside of this country. If we are going to admit so many Muslim immigrants, the least we can do is not have our enemies radicalize them in a subversion campaign.

When political correctness became a fad, it started out as a cute gesture. Then it became obnoxious. Next it became tyrannical. Now it has become dangerous and downright suicidal.

It’s time to choose priorities… while we still can. (“Chattanooga: The Effects of Our Suicidal Immigration Policy”, originally posted HERE)

Arizona Defends Denying Driver’s Licenses to ‘Dreamers,’ Judge Suggests it’s “Racism”

Arizona’s legal team came to Pasadena on Thursday to defend the state’s refusal to issue driver’s licenses to so-called Dreamers, and found that one member of the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals was in no mood for legal maneuvering.

Under court order, Arizona began issuing licenses and ID cards in February for the estimated 22,000 immigrants covered by the federal Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, known as DACA. President Obama’s program gives Dreamers, the young immigrants who entered the U.S. illegally before their 16th birthday and who meet other requirements, a reprieve from deportation and the ability to receive work permits. . .

Pregerson asked why Arizona continued to try to deny benefits to Dreamers. “Does it come down to racism? Does it come down to discrimination against these people? What else does it come down to?” he asked.

[Since Obama’s unconstitutional executive amnesty in 2012,] states have steadily dropped their objections to giving licenses to Dreamers. The penultimate holdout, Nebraska, ended its objections in May. Only Arizona continues to fight.

“The state wants to enjoy a prerogative it simply does not have,” Dreamer Coalition attorney Karen Tumlin told the three judges. “This case is about discrimination, pure and simple.” (Read more from “Arizona Defends Denying Driver’s Licenses to ‘Dreamers,’ Faces Skeptical Judge” HERE)

Poll: Most Hispanic Voters Don’t Think a Path to Citizenship Is Solution

More than 60 percent of registered Hispanic voters do not think a pathway to citizenship for illegals would benefit the country, and most do not see it as the best way to solve the country’s immigration problems, a new poll shows.

Of the 62 percent who felt a pathway to citizenship for illegals would not benefit the country, 33 percent felt it would hurt the economy, 7 percent felt it would overly burden public schools and 10 percent felt it would create public safety issues, the McKeon & Associates Wednesday poll found.

“The economy is still the issue,” Michael McKeon told The Daily Caller News Foundation. “When 33 percent think immigration will hurt the economy, that’s what’s on their mind.”

“It’s going to be very interesting to see if Republicans choose people with government experience to create jobs, or people like Trump who did it in the private sector,” he added . . .

McKeon and Associates surveyed 804 registered voters with Hispanic surnames in the United States July 15. An overwhelming majority identified themselves as Democrats, and most said they were between the ages of 31 and 60. About 20 percent of the interviews were conducted in Spanish, and the rest in English. (Read more from “Poll: Most Hispanic Voters Don’t Think a Path to Citizenship Is Solution” HERE)

Seattle Mayor Offers Plan to Help Followers of Sharia Law Buy Houses

For some Muslims, it can be hard to buy a house, and Mayor Ed Murray plans to do something about it.

On Monday, Murray’s housing committee released its recommendations for ways the city can increase housing in the city. Most ideas were what you’d expect, including increasing the city’s housing levy and implementing new rules and regulations to foster development of market-rate and lower-income housing.

One suggestion would help followers of Sharia law buy houses. That’s virtually impossible now because Sharia law prohibits payment of interest on loans. The 28-member committee recommended the city convene lenders and community leaders to explore options for increasing access to Sharia-compliant loan products.

More and more lenders are offering Sharia-compliant financing, according to a USA Today report. The sector has grown to more than $1.6 trillion in assets worldwide over the past three decades, and analysts see potential for continued growth as the number of Muslims in the United States and Europe grows.

It’s unclear how many Muslims in Seattle would benefit from Murray’s plan. The Washington state chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) estimates more than 30,000 Muslims live in the greater Seattle area, and Chapter Executive Director Arsalan Bukhari on Tuesday said it’s “fairly common” for some not to seek loans. Gun-Free Zones Shot Up, 4 Marines Killed in Chattanooga While Obama Praises Islam

By CBS News. A gunman unleashed a barrage of gunfire at two military facilities Thursday in Tennessee, killing four Marines and wounding two other service members and a police officer, officials told CBS News.

The shooter also was killed. Law enforcement sources told CBS News that the shooting suspect was identified as 24-year-old Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez. According to a U.S. law enforcement source, Abdulazeez was born in Kuwait and came to the United States in 1996. It’s unclear if and when he became an American citizen.

A U.S. official told CBS News that Abdulazeez was not on law enforcement radar concerning possible terror links or aspirations. The FBI was not aware of him as being any kind of threat.

Officials will try to find out if Abdulazeez was motivated or influenced by ISIS.

The group has been calling for “lone wolf” style attacks in the U.S. on the military and police during the month of Ramadan, which concludes Friday. Over the Fourth of July holiday, federal law enforcement officials warned of the potential for an attack. Obama Praises Islam on Day 4 Marines are Massacred by Muslim Terrorist

On the very day of the Chattanooga massacre, Barrack Hussein Obama issued the following statement in celebration of the Muslim holiday, Eid-ul-Fitr:

Michelle and I would like to extend our warmest wishes to Muslims in the United States and around the world celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr. As Muslims mark the end of the month, they are reminded that Ramadan is a time to reflect spiritually, build communally, and aid those in need. While Eid marks the end of Ramadan, it marks a new beginning for each individual – a reason to celebrate and express gratitude on this holiday.

For millions of Muslims, the morning of Eid is marked with the call to prayer echoing through cities and towns across the globe. Millions of people head to local mosques for special Eid prayers followed by festive gatherings, gift exchanges, and feasts among friends, neighbors and families. The diversity of traditions paint the vibrant images we see from around the world capturing the spirit and excitement of Eid – colorful dresses or white garments decorating the masses of people standing in lines for prayer, lanterns and ornaments lighting up bazaars and neighborhoods, intricate henna designs painted on hands of young girls and women, and an abundance of delectable foods and aromatic cuisines.

As Muslim Americans celebrate Eid across America, the holiday is a reminder to every American of the importance of respecting those of all faiths and beliefs. This past year New York City Public Schools announced adding Eid to their official school calendars alongside Christmas, Hanukkah and other holidays – an acknowledgement of the great diversity and inclusiveness that adds to the richness of our nation. During this year’s White House Iftar, I had the opportunity to meet inspiring young Muslim Americans who are leading efforts for greater understanding and unity across diverse communities. Following the Iftar, one of the young attendees helped spearhead an effort that raised more than $75,000 for the churches burned in the wake of the shooting at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina. Americans of all faiths and beliefs must stand together to protect our democracy and strengthen our country as a whole.

Michelle and I hope today brings joy to all of your homes, both here in the U.S. and around the world. From my family to yours, Eid Mubarak!

Islamic Terrorist Kills 4 Marines in Terror Attack Targeting Military in Tennessee

By Robert Richardson. An Islamic Terrorist attacked two military recruiting facilities in Chattanooga, Tennessee today, killing at least four Marines and wounding a soldier and a police officer.

Although the FBI and the mainstream media immediately tried to deny the attack was terror related, there are a number of reports that ISIS associated twitter accounts started tweeting #CHATTANOOGA right before the shooting started. FBI Special Agent in Charge Ed Reinhold said authorities were still investigating a motive.

Investigators “have not determined whether it was an act of terrorism or whether it was a criminal act,” Ed Reinhold, FBI special agent in charge, told reporters. “We are looking at every possible avenue, whether it was terrorism — whether it was domestic, international — or whether it was a simple, criminal act.” (Read more from this story HERE)

Ouch: ESPN’s Decision to Give ‘Caitlyn’ Jenner the Courage Award Just Backfired Big Time

Woman Involved in Bruce Jenner’s Car Crash Decries ESPY Award

By Des Bieler. Caitlyn Jenner made news Wednesday night when she took the stage at the ESPYs to receive the Arthur Ashe Courage Award. Some found her words powerful and moving while some questioned why she was there in the first place.

Count Jessica Steindorff among those who thought that the award should have gone to someone else. She was among those involved, as was Jenner, in a February traffic accident in Malibu, Calif., that claimed a woman’s life.

Steindorff is suing Jenner over the incident, as are the stepchildren of the woman, Kim Howe, who died. Steindorff had this to say to Entertainment Tonight about the former Olympic gold medalist and “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star receiving the award:

“I find it difficult to understand how the culture we live in can honor a person who is responsible for taking a life and injuring several others with both an award and a reality show,” Steindorff told ET. “For an individual who is such a positive role model in many aspects of her life, Caitlyn has failed to do the right thing and take responsibility for her actions.”

“I would hope that someone who seems to greatly value the importance of human existence would be more sensitive to the fact that she ended another person’s life. Sadly we are living in a tabloid society,” she added.

The ESPY Bruce Jenner Courage Award Spectacle

By Norvell Rose. It was indeed a spectacle. But the fallout from Wednesday night’s ESPY Award presented to Caitlyn Jenner — the transgendered woman formerly known as Bruce — is certainly not what a cable net that relies on its fans for success wants to see. The homepage homage to Caitlyn’s “courage” has been blasted with sharply negative comments on the ESPN website.

Western Journalism published a pre-show piece on the Arthur Ashe Courage Award given to Jenner — that post was entitled “Receiving The ‘Courage’ Award From ESPN Could Be The Worst Thing To Happen To Caitlyn Jenner.” Ironically, putting the used-to-be-a-man cultural celebrity in the center-stage spotlight during the nationally televised ABC show last night may have been pretty bad for ESPN as well…if posted reaction is any indicator.

Among the many news outlets gushing with morning-after praise about the high-profile award and Jenner’s long acceptance speech is The Washington Post. The paper noted that Jenner’s moment (actually many moments) in the spotlight was among the “Best of the 2015 ESPYs.”

Then, there are comments such as the following about Jenner’s tearful celebration of self and emotional plea for acceptance of other transgendered people:

“…to give an award like the Arthur Ashe award for Courage to a guy that just feels he’s a woman or whatever the case may be is an absolute travesty and a total misuse and black mark for that award.” (Read more from “Ouch: ESPN’s Decision to Give ‘Caitlyn’ Jenner the Courage Award Just Backfired Big Time” HERE)

Obama’s Next Big Amnesty

With much of Obama’s amnesty for illegal aliens on hold as a result of the court’s injunction, the legislator-in-chief is looking for every remaining opportunity to fundamentally transform America from the Oval Office in his lingering days. His next conquest is the dismantling of law and order and criminal justice laws that have helped lead to a miraculous decline in violent crime over the past two decades.

On Monday, Obama announced his plan to commute the sentences of 46 drug offenders serving time in federal prison, bringing the total number of commutations to 86 since he has taken office. He even had time to write them a personal letter as he ignored the family of Kate Steinle and other victims of violent crime, such as Kevin Southerland who was gruesomely stabbed to death on the subway right in the nation’s capital. While libertarians and some conservatives are supportive of targeted changes to drug laws, everyone should be gravely concerned about where this is coming from and where it’s headed.

More than Petty Drug Crimes

During his announcement, Obama noted that these individuals were not “hardened criminals” and were in prison only for “non-violent drug offenses.” This is part of the broader red herring argument propagated by the bipartisan “criminal justice reform cartel” – that there is an epidemic of 19-year-olds locked up in federal prison caught smoking marijuana once in their lifetime. But the reality is that most people serving in federal prison have done some serious drug dealing or are connected to violent drug cartels or gangs.

A quick glance at the sentencing history of these 46 individuals reveals that a number of them were dealing or trafficking large amounts of cocaine or methamphetamine. Moreover, Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-VA), Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, is demanding to know how many of these individuals were connected to gangs, the quantity of narcotics they possessed, and whether the prosecutors and victims were notified. Keep in mind that many of these individuals could have initially been charged with greater offenses but entered into a plea bargain.

Given Obama’s disregard for enforcing laws he dislikes and his aggressive desire to transform the country and dismantle law enforcement, this development should put goose bumps on anyone concerned with the rule of law, aka, most Americans outside of public policy circles. If Obama is this alacritous to sign a get-out-of-jail free card with 18 months left to his presidency, it’s clear that this is the tip of the iceberg.

There is nothing stopping Obama from moving onto other categories of offenses and letting people out of federal prison carte blanche. If he is willing to release tens of thousands of violent criminal aliens who don’t even belong in this country, why would he have any compunction about releasing domestic criminals en masse?

In fact, the threat of a mass criminal amnesty from Obama is more of a clear-and-present danger than almost any potential agenda item remaining on Obama’s list to transform America.

A Familiar Pattern, Albeit with More Legitimacy

Much like his immigration amnesty, Obama has embarked on a campaign to delegitimize the laws he disdains by slowly but steadily refusing to enforce them. Then he releases past offenders. Finally, he threatens a mass amnesty if Congress declines to pass legislation along the lines of his priorities.

But unlike with immigration policy, Obama legitimately has plenary power to pardon criminals, pursuant to Article II Section II of the Constitution. It is one of the few absolute powers of the president. If Obama is willing to overturn immigration laws, over which Congress wields absolute power, he will have no problem fully exercising this rare constitutionally legitimate power. Although his policy of pardoning entire classes of offenses, de facto overturning congressional laws, is clearly a violation of the spirit of the pardon power – which was intended to be used with discretion for individuals or for extraordinary times like during the Civil War and Vietnam draft dodging – no court will limit Obama’s pardons no matter how far he takes them.

Also, as it relates to criminal justice, there are even more establishment Republicans – as well as an entire movement of libertarians and conservatives – committed to pursuing a “reform” agenda. As we noted before, there are some legitimate issues that need to be addressed, but the way some of these Republicans are pursuing the issue will only facilitate Obama’s dangerous dismantling of law enforcement and will only embolden him to expand his policy of clemency.

Obama has already name-dropped some prominent conservatives like Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) when promoting his liberalization agenda at left-wing venues. But to borrow a phrase from Obama for a moment, “let’s be clear,” Obama is not concerned about the budgetary costs of prisons; he is fully committed to pushing the long-held agenda of the ACLU to undo the two-decades’ worth of gains against violent and high-level crime. Conservatives are forewarned.

Time for Conservative Supporters of Criminal Justice Reform to Exercise Caution

According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, the rate of violent crime has declined from 79.8 to 23.2 victimizations per 1,000 persons age 12 or older since 1993. Before Republicans rush to judgement about undoing federal sentencing laws, they might want to consider the recent reversal of this trend during the Obama era. Coupled with Obama’s clemency agenda, federalization of law enforcement, and the coming time bomb of left-wing federal judges, now might not be the best time to loosen some of these laws.

As we noted earlier this week, most federal drug offenses are of a larger magnitude than some of the state offenses that have recently been liberalized across the country. Also, a huge percentage of federal drug offenses are perpetrated by illegal immigrants.

Now is not the best time to buttress and legitimize Obama’s criminal justice agenda. It’s a time to enforce immigration laws and demand a fence at the border. Simply building a double-layered security barrier at the Tucson sector of our southern border would prevent roughly a million pounds of Marijuana from entering our country every year. Fewer illegal immigrants and less drugs entering through our southern border is not a full panacea, but it would go a long way in reducing the prison population and the focus on drug crimes – without outsourcing our safety and security to ACLU post-constitutional judges.

When defending the decision to vest the power to pardon in the hands of the president, Alexander Hamilton observes in Federalist #74 that such consequential power in the hands of one man “would naturally inspire scrupulousness and caution; the dread of being accused of weakness or connivance, would beget equal circumspection.” Sadly, in our post-constitutional society with an obsequious media and an impotent Republican opposition, Obama feels no such dread and will not exercise any caution or circumspection. He will exercise a fundamental transformation of this nation’s ideal of law and order.

The least Republicans can do is withdraw from any negotiations over criminal justice “reform” with this president until he guarantees a curtailment of his clemency agenda. The best they can do is exercise their Article I power of the purse to thwart some of these releases from federal prison. Unfortunately, congressional Republicans are not willing to exercise their Article I powers even to a small degree compared to Obama’s willingness to utilize every inch of his Article II powers – and then some. Obama Has Officially Declared War on Coal

The Obama administration [proposed] new regulations Thursday designed to reduce the impact of coal mining on the nation’s streams . . .

The proposed regulations, long anticipated, will maintain a 100-foot buffer zone adjacent to streams to prevent debris from being dumped into the water. But the rules will set clearer guidelines for companies.

A summary of the regulations obtained by The Associated Press says the rule would update reclamation practices that require companies to restore streams and return mined areas to conditions before the mining was done. (Read more from “Obama Has Officially Declared War on Coal” HERE)

Believe It or Not, U.S. States Can Help Stop Iran in the Face of Obama Complicity

While there is never a replacement for fighting federal malfeasance at a federal level, there are often at least partial solutions at the state level. States might seem distant from the debate over Obama’s alliance with Iran, but they actually wield power over billions in assets and funds that could be used to indirectly thwart, at least in part, the Iran deal with the devil. States can fight back by divesting from companies that do business with Iran. Now is the time for these much-vaunted GOP governors, particularly those running for president, to step up to the plate.

In 2010, Congress passed the Comprehensive Iran Sanctions, Accountability, and Divestment Act with near unanimous support and it was signed into law by President Obama. Section 202 of the bill explicitly grants states the authority to divest from companies that do business with Iran’s energy sector. Thirty states, beginning with Florida in 2007, passed some sort of divestment law banning state pension funds from being invested in companies that do any sort of business with Iran. With several trillion dollars of state and local pension funds at stake, this has been a serious leverage point against companies seeking to do business with Iran.

In addition to divesting from investments in these companies, 11 states have laws against entering into contracts with those companies and entities that do business with Iran, according data compiled by United Against Nuclear Iran.

Not only should these states continue their divestments even if Congress fails to block the deal, they should expand the sanctions.

Now is the time for presidential candidates like Chris Christie, John Kasich, Bobby Jindal, and Scott Walker to shine. Scott Walker especially has an opportunity to go on offense because Wisconsin has yet to pass anti-Iran legislation.

There are also a number of red states that currently have no divestment legislation where conservatives could easily mount an anti-Iran campaign. Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, and West Virginia are all good targets.

Part of what is fueling this rapid push to remove sanctions is that the global business community is hungry to do business with a large country that has been untapped. A strong message from the states would go a long way in disrupting their pursuit of appeasement and would help build momentum and outrage against the immoral alliance with Iran.

Obama and his allies will undoubtedly sue the states in court for thwarting new federal laws over international commerce. And indeed, section 25 of the deal (page 18) directs the federal government to “take appropriate steps” to ensure that states are not blocking implementation of sanctions relief. This provision is also in a 14-page draft resolution UN Ambassador Samantha Power plans to submit before the UN Security Council early next week. [As an aside, this is exactly the sort of anti-sovereignty language that conservatives fear in international agreements such as TPP and TISA.] But this is not federal law; it is an international treaty that is counter to federal laws on the books and can only be overturned via ratification with two-thirds support in the Senate. This deal will never be properly ratified, and is thereby null and void as it relates to existing federal sanctions and the ability of states to uphold federal law.

There is not much time for this to work. The Obama administration is acting with lightning speed to implement this colossal disaster. If there was ever an opportunity for governors to show some leadership, that time is now.

Any takers? (“How States Can Help Stop Iran”, originally posted HERE)
