COVID Cancellations Return: High Schools Cancel Football Games

Two California high schools have canceled their upcoming football games over COVID cases among students in the latest instance of new COVID measures cropping up as the school year starts.

Esparto High School, which is located west of Sacramento, canceled its football game, which was scheduled for Friday, after six players contracted COVID and seven more players were out due to injuries.

“Ensuring the well-being of students is not only a moral obligation but also a legal and ethical responsibility,” the district’s superintendent, Christina Goennier, told FOX40.

The local county health officer, Dr. Aimee Sisson, expressed support for the school’s’ decision to cancel the game. (Read more from “COVID Cancellations Return: High Schools Cancel Football Games” HERE)

Jordan Investigates Trump Special Counsel Prosecutor Over ‘Abusive’ Tactics

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) announced on Thursday that his panel is investigating alleged prosecutorial misconduct in special counsel Jack Smith’s documents case against former President Donald Trump and two of his aides.

A letter sent to Smith on Thursday cites media reports about allegations that Jay Bratt, a senior prosecutor involved in the special counsel’s inquiry, used “abusive” tactics. Jordan specifically raised concerns about Bratt allegedly bringing up a judgeship application in an attempt to improperly pressure a lawyer for Trump’s associate and co-defendant Walter Nauta. In addition, the chairman noted that Bratt later filed a motion alleging conflicts of interest involving the same lawyer, Stanley Woodward.

“The Department’s mission is to ensure impartial justice by upholding the rule of law, requiring all Department employees — including Mr. Bratt — to maintain the highest standards of ethical conduct,” Jordan wrote. “Mr. Bratt’s attempt to bully Mr. Nauta in cooperating, first by extorting his attorney and then by alleging a conflict of interest that precludes his attorney from the case, seriously calls into question your team and your ability to remain impartial and uphold the Department’s mission.”

The chairman demanded various documents and records related to Woodward, his representation of Nauta and others, as well as his application to fill a vacancy on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. A deadline of 5 p.m. on September 21 was given. (Read more from “Jordan Investigates Trump Special Counsel Prosecutor Over ‘Abusive’ Tactics” HERE)

Chinese Influence Network Used A.I. To Impersonate US Voters

Microsoft on Thursday said it has detected a Chinese-controlled network of social media accounts that uses A.I. technology to impersonate American voters and spread propaganda to influence U.S. politics.

Microsoft’s report said the suspected Chinese influence network was similar to past operations that have been linked to the Chinese Ministry of Public Security.

The difference with the new network is that it began using generative A.I. in March 2023 to “mimic U.S. voters” and produce content that was “more eye-catching than the awkward visuals used in previous campaigns by Chinese nation-state actors, which relied on digital drawings, stock photo collages, and other manual graphic designs.”

“These images are most likely created by something called diffusion-powered image generators that use A.I. to not only create compelling images but also learn to improve them over time,” Microsoft said.

The influence network engaged in “a broad campaign that largely focuses on politically divisive topics, such as gun violence, and denigrating U.S. political figures and symbols.” (Read more from “Chinese Influence Network Used A.I. To Impersonate US Voters” HERE)

Harvard Physicist Fends off Critics After Study Reveals Possible ‘Interstellar’ Life

Harvard physicist and professor, Dr. Avi Loeb, takes exception to critics about his theories of possible alien life in the universe, especially those he calls “theologians who argue that they don’t need to look through Galileo’s telescope because they know the answer.”

“The root of the problem is having an opinion and a prejudice and behaving as if you are the adult in the room,” Loeb told Fox News Digital when asked about critics of his theories.

That was just one of many rebukes that Loeb had for scientists who have bashed his recent study, which has quickly made headlines around the country.

Loeb’s claims are based on a recent trip that he took to the South Pacific Ocean, during which he gathered hundreds of metallic “spherules.” Those spherules were made of beryllium, lanthanum, uranium and other rare elements that the professor said indicated their possibly interstellar origins.

The object from which the spherules came were “moving very fast outside the solar system,” Loeb said, “at 60 kilometers per second, faster than 95% of all stars in the vicinity of the sun. It also maintained its integrity down to the lower atmosphere, being able to sustain stress far more than encountered by all other space rocks that were catalogued by NASA over the past decade, 272 of them.” (Read more from “Harvard Physicist Fends off Critics After Study Reveals Possible ‘Interstellar’ Life” HERE)

US Insanity: First State to Recognize ‘Transgender History Month’

The California Assembly made history Wednesday after passing a resolution to recognize August as Transgender History Month, making the Golden State the first in the nation to take the progressive plunge.

“I believe that as Californians our strongest defense against the anti-trans agenda is just to tell the truth. Let’s tell the truth about transgender people’s lives, and let’s lift up the history of the transgender Californians who left their mark on our great state,” said Assembly member Matt Haney, the San Francisco Democrat who authored the bill, according to FOX 40 in Sacramento.

The development comes amid a slew of outrage surrounding school gender policies in the state, including state Attorney General Rob Bonta’s lawsuit against the Chino Valley Unified School District [CVUSD] Board of Education “to immediately halt the enforcement” of its mandatory gender identity disclosure policy.

A judge temporarily blocked the district from enforcing the policy on Wednesday.

Set to be initially recognized next year, Transgender History Month recognizes the contributions and history of the trans community while, in the hopes of some supporting the idea, raising awareness about the community’s lived experiences. Major US Airport Becomes Shelter for Illegal Aliens as Liberal City Overwhelmed by Crisis

Chicago leaders are facing backlash over hundreds of migrants being housed at O’Hare International Airport, one of the nation’s busiest airports.

Chicago reporter William Kelly joined “Fox & Friends” Thursday to discuss what the city has been experiencing as a result of the influx of migrants.

More than 400 migrants are reportedly being housed in a section of the airport, hidden from public view behind black curtains, up from 31 at the beginning of August.

Kelly said the airport is one of only 18 migrant shelters in Chicago and that homeless Americans are no longer allowed to stay at the airport. The city previously struggled with an influx of homeless people at the airport but initiated a crackdown earlier this year after then-Mayor Lori Lightfoot faced criticism.

“Mayor Johnson campaigned as the people’s mayor. Sadly, the people are telling me that he’s the migrants’ mayor,” said Kelly. (Read more from “Major US Airport Becomes Shelter for Illegal Aliens as Liberal City Overwhelmed by Crisis” HERE)

Hunter Biden Claims He Was ‘Embarrassed’ by Laptop in Deposition — But Still Denies It or Contents Are His

Hunter Biden testified recently that he was embarrassed by “offensive” content published from his laptop after he dropped it off for repair at The Mac Shop in Wilmington, Delaware on April 12, 2019 – but still denies that the laptop or its contents are his.

The First Son provided confusing and often contradictory testimony under oath on June 29 during a six hour deposition related to a defamation action brought by John Paul Mac Isaac, the owner of the now defunct computer repair shop, who accuses Hunter of falsely insisting the laptop was not his, or was stolen, or that his information was hacked.

Hunter is countersuing Mac Isaac, accusing him of illegally distributing his personal data, and invading his privacy.

Portions of Hunter’s deposition are revealed for the first time in the opening brief of a motion filed by Mac Isaac, in Delaware Superior court late Thursday, to dismiss the countersuit with prejudice.

Hunter refused to admit in his deposition that he visited The Mac Shop twice in April 2019, despite Mac Isaac presenting evidence that Hunter signed a work order and provided his contact information. General Calls Delays in Afghanistan Withdrawal an Example of ‘American Arrogance’

Retired Gen. Frank McKenzie said he believes the delay in withdrawing troops from Afghanistan can be attributed to “American arrogance.” He spoke to his many regrets about the withdrawal that led to the deaths of 13 U.S. service members in August 2021.

McKenzie, the head of United States Central Command at the time of the withdrawal, said in an interview with Fox News’s Jennifer Griffin that he regretted the U.S.’s decision to “stay on until the very end,” saying that often pushing that choice could land, and did land, the country in an “extremist situation.”

“I think it’s a case of American exceptionalism or American arrogance, depending on your perspective, to believe that you can actually withdraw, beaten from the field of battle, and still maintain a large political platform in the country you’re actually retreating from,” McKenzie said in the interview, which aired Thursday.

“I go back to the basic decision to wait so very late to begin to bring people out — after we had already given away Bagram Airfield, after we had already drawn down to a very low footprint in the country,” he continued. “I think those were the decisions that led to the scenes at the airport in Kabul.” (Read more from “General Calls Delays in Afghanistan Withdrawal an Example of ‘American Arrogance’” HERE)

There’s a Huge Warning Sign That the Housing Market Could Be Headed For Trouble

The housing market could face even greater trouble in the future as both supply and demand slip following low mortgage rate applications and a tight supply of homes, according to multiple sources.

The number of mortgage applications declined 2.9% in the week ending Sept. 1 compared to the previous week, bringing it to the lowest level since 1996 and showing a drop in the demand for new homes, according to a Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) press release. The supply of new homes for sale is also dropping and inventories have remained below pre-pandemic levels, culminating in a drop in both supply and demand and indicating possible danger in the housing market.

“The decline in mortgage applications reflects the reality that the income for many families simply cannot shoulder the mortgage payments of a new home given the combined impact of sharply higher mortgage rates combined with the surge in home prices,” Joel Griffith, a research fellow at the Thomas A. Roe Institute for Economic Policy Studies at The Heritage Foundation, told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Existing home sales fell 2.2% in July from June and 16.6% year-over-year, coming to only 4.07 million sold in the month, according to the National Association of Realtors (NAR). Part of that drop in demand can be attributed to rising costs for existing homes, which increased 1.9% in July year-over-year and exceeded $400,000 — which it has only done in three other months.

“When you go from record low mortgage rates to levels that we haven’t seen for almost 20 years, you destroy both the demand and supply,” Mohamed Aly El-Erian, an economist and chief economic advisor at Allianz, told CNBC in August. “And that’s the irony, that supply has come down and demand has come down as well. That is the way you destroy a housing market.” (Read more from “There’s a Huge Warning Sign That the Housing Market Could Be Headed For Trouble” HERE)

‘Defund the Police’ Democrat Gets Violently Attacked, Now Demands Holding Criminals ‘Accountable’

A Minnesota DFL Party official who championed defunding the police during the George Floyd riots has since changed her position after being violently attacked this week.

Shivanthi Sathanandan, the Second Vice Chairwoman for the DFL, posted an image of her bloodied face from the attack on Tuesday, explaining that she was carjacked at her home while her children were present.

“Four very young men, all carrying guns, beat me violently down to the ground in front of our kids,” she wrote in a Facebook post that included a photo she took of herself. “The young men held our neighbors up at gunpoint when they ran over and tried to help me. All in broad daylight.”

“Look at my face in the picture. This is the face of a mother who just had the s[***] beaten out of her. A mother whose only thought was, ‘let me run far enough and fight hard enough so that my kids have a chance to get away,’” she continued. “This is the face of a mother who just listened to her four year old daughter screaming non-stop, her 7 year old son wailing for someone to come help because bad guys are murdering his Mama in the back yard, her neighbors screaming in outrage… all while being beaten with guns and kicks and fists.” (Read more from “‘Defund the Police’ Democrat Gets Violently Attacked, Now Demands Holding Criminals ‘Accountable’” HERE)
