Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell Hospitalized

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) was rushed to the hospital on Wednesday evening after falling during a dinner.

“This evening, Leader McConnell tripped at a local hotel during a private dinner,” a spokesperson for McConnell said. “He has been admitted to the hospital where he is receiving treatment.”

No other information was provided. The 81-year-old senator is a polio survivor and has, at times, had issues with balance and sometimes needs to use rails to assist him in walking.

In 2019, McConnell suffered a fractured shoulder after he tripped and fell at his home in Kentucky.

McConnell’s hospitalization comes as Sens. John Fetterman (D-PA) and Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) have both been hospitalized in recent weeks. (Read more from “Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell Hospitalized” HERE)

Pope Francis Brings Heterodox Cardinal Into His Inner Circle

Pope Francis has named progressive Luxembourg Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich to his inner cabinet of advisors despite the cardinal’s rejection of key elements of Catholic moral teaching.

Vatican News noted Tuesday that Pope Francis has rebooted his Council of Cardinals, or “C9” as it is known, which was created to assist the pope in the governance of the universal Church. The new Council retains four of its previous members and adds an additional five, including Cardinal Hollerich, a Jesuit like the pope.

In February 2022, Hollerich, who is also president of the European Bishops’ Commission (COMECE), said that Catholic teaching on the sinfulness of homosexual relations is mistaken and needs to be updated.

“I believe that the sociological-scientific foundation of this teaching is no longer correct,” Hollerich said, while calling for a fundamental revision of the Church’s position.

For its part, the Catholic Church teaches that same-sex attraction is “is objectively disordered.” (Read more from “Pope Francis Brings Heterodox Cardinal Into His Inner Circle” HERE)

Karine Jean-Pierre Doubles Down on Claim That Capital Riots ‘Cost Police Officers Their Lives’ (VIDEO)

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre attacked Fox News host Tucker Carlson again Wednesday after Carlson further discussed new footage from the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the Capitol building.

“We agree with the chief of Capitol Police and the wide range of bipartisan lawmakers, you heard them all yesterday, you guys reported on it, who have condemned the false depiction of the unprecedented violent attack on our Constitution and the rule of law which cost police officers their lives,” Jean-Pierre said.

Jean-Pierre referred to the criticism of Carlson in a letter from Capitol Police Chief Thomas Manger, who criticized Carlson’s use of footage showing Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick walking during Jan. 6 during his show Monday. Sicknick died of natural causes after suffering two strokes on Jan. 6, the D.C. medical examiner ruled, contradicting reports from The New York Times and other media outlets that Sicknick’s death resulted from injuries sustained during the riot. Marine in Kabul Airport Blast Says He Was Told Not to Shoot ISIS Bomber

A Marine who survived the deadly bombing at Kabul’s airport during the 2021 US withdrawal from Afghanistan told lawmakers Wednesday he was told not to kill a suspected ISIS terrorist who he believes was responsible for later killing 13 of his fellow service members and countless Afghans.

Sgt. Tyler Vargas-Andrews recounted to the House Foreign Affairs Committee how his team deployed to Hamid Karzai International Airport on Aug. 26, 2021, and were tracking a man who intelligence officers believed was a suicide bomber “throughout the entirety” of the day leading up to the explosion.

“Intel guys confirmed the suicide bomber … described as clean-shaven, brown-dressed, black vest and traveling with an older companion,” he said. “I asked intel guys why he wasn’t apprehended sooner since we had a full description. I was told the asset could not be compromised.”

Vargas-Andrews recounted his experience during his opening remarks at the committee’s hearing examining the Biden administration’s handling of the final weeks of the 20-year US war in Afghanistan. The chaotic effort brought massive crowds to the airport with fewer than 6,000 US troops deployed to assist.

Vargas-Andrews told the committee that his team continually updated intelligence teams that day on the suspect’s actions, noting the men were an “anomaly in the crowd” and “both had obvious mannerisms that go along with who we believed him to be.” (Read more from “Marine in Kabul Airport Blast Says He Was Told Not to Shoot ISIS Bomber” HERE)

FBI, Pentagon Researched Facial Recognition Tech to Handle ‘Millions of Subjects,’ Documents Say

The FBI and Pentagon worked closely with experts on facial recognition technology that could be used to identify people on footage captured from street cameras or drones.

New information about the government’s research was revealed in a trove of thousands of documents released as part of an open records lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) against the FBI, according to The Washington Post. The facial recognition technology sought would significantly boost the government’s surveillance capabilities.

The program was underwritten by the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Agency (IARPA), part of the U.S. Intelligence Community. An IARPA program manager described the goal of the project in 2019 as to “dramatically improve” U.S. facial recognition tools with “scaling to support millions of subjects.”

The FBI is “committed to responsible use of facial recognition technology ensuring it appropriately respects individuals’ privacy and civil liberties,” the bureau told the Post in a statement. The Department of Defense did not immediately return The Daily Wire’s request for comment.

The research into facial recognition technology has alarmed some on Capitol Hill. Democratic Sen. Ed Markey of Massachusetts introduced legislation on Tuesday that would prohibit the government from using facial recognition technology and other biotech tools, according to Nextgov. Tucker Carlson Said He Hates Trump in Private Text Messages: ‘I Can’t Handle Much More of This’

Fox News host Tucker Carlson sent a series of private text messages to his colleague regarding his relationship with former President Trump, which was released by Dominion Voting Systems as part of its defamation suit against the network.

According to a January 4, 2021, text message, Carlson revealed he has a strong dislike toward Trump.

“I hate him passionately,” a text sent by Carlson to a colleague read. “What he’s good at is destroying things. He’s the undisputed world champion of that. He could easily destroy us if we play it wrong.”

Two days before the January 6 Capitol Hill protests, Carlson wrote that he was very close to being done having to talk about the former president on-air.

“We are very, very close to being able to ignore Trump most nights. I truly can’t wait,” Carlson wrote. (Read more from “Tucker Carlson Said He Hates Trump in Private Text Messages: ‘I Can’t Handle Much More of This'” HERE)

Opportunist and Leftwing Political Activist Alexander Vindman Accused of Trying to Profit off Ukraine War With Defense Contracts

Retired Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, who made waves as a witness during the first impeachment proceedings of former President Donald Trump, is now being accused of trying to profit off the war in Ukraine by pitching lucrative defense contracts through his private company.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., who was one of the sharpest critics of Vindman throughout the impeachment investigation, blasted him as an “opportunist,” and accused him of undertaking continuous efforts to try and personally profit from his attacks against the Trump administration to his reported dealings in Ukraine.

The first impeachment of Trump centered around a July 2019 call in which Trump pressed Ukrainian President Zelenskyy to launch investigations into the Biden family’s actions and business dealings in Ukraine—specifically Hunter Biden’s ventures with Ukrainian natural gas firm Burisma Holdings. The president’s request came after millions in U.S. military aid to Ukraine had been frozen, which Democrats and some witnesses, including Vindman, cited as a quid pro quo arrangement.

“When conservatives speak the truth, the mainstream media panics and desperately attempts to provide cover for the left. They did this for Alexander Vindman, just like they did for Hunter Biden, Dr. Fauci and teachers unions,” Blackburn said, referencing liberal media outlets’ staunch defense of Vindman throughout his time as a witness during the impeachment investigation.

“Alexander Vindman has always been a political activist and opportunist masquerading behind his career. He saw an opening for personal fame and profited by exploiting the media’s outrage against President Trump,” she accused. Stanford’s Class of 2026 Doesn’t ‘Look Like America’; U.S. is “Publicly Committing Suicide”

The demographic profile of Stanford University’s class of 2026 is out, with 1,736 matriculated students in the freshman class of one of the world’s most prestigious universities. But as some perceptive critics were quick to notice, one key demographic is disproportionately underrepresented: While whites make up more than 50 percent of the nation’s adolescent population, per 2019 Office of Population Affairs numbers, they were only 22 percent of Stanford’s class of 2026. A Twitter user by the name of Fischer King was one of the first to flag the disparity, adding: “Now I’m speculating, but admitted white men are likely connected — legacies, or just bought way in. The rural math genius like John Nash — he has no chance.”

Progressive journalist Elizabeth Spiers, on the other hand, suggests this is simply meritocracy at work:

Of course, if Spiers and her counterparts believe that the underrepresentation of whites is simply the result of merit, they would ostensibly be fine with ending affirmative action — after all, the stated purpose of affirmative action was “to further a compelling interest in obtaining the educational benefits that flow from a diverse student body,” as Justice Sandra Day O’Connor wrote in the majority opinion for the Supreme Court’s 2003 ruling on the matter, Grutter v. Bollinger. Now that said “diversity” is apparently attainable without the artificial engineering of race-conscious admissions, we can return to colorblind candidate selection. Right?

Spiers, for her part, goes on to attribute the fact that there are more women than men in Stanford’s class of 2026 — 54 to 46 percent — to the fact “that girls outperform boys in school,” maintaining: “Given that we know that empirically, anyone who is confused about why there might be slightly more women than men is just asserting their own biases.” Excellent: We’ve relegated Ibram X. Kendi’s “all disparities are proof of discrimination” — “when I see racial disparities, I see racism” — to the dustbin of history where it belongs. Overrepresentation of one group, and underrepresentation of another, in a particular institution is no longer proof, in and of itself, of systemic bias. I look forward to Spiers extending that logic to the nation’s prison system, policing, crime, income inequality, marriage rates, Fortune 500 C-suites, the so-called “wage gap,” and heavily male-dominated careers in STEM. Southern Poverty Law Center Defends Attorney Charged With Domestic Terrorism, Blames Police

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) defended one of their attorneys after he was charged with domestic terrorism in Atlanta for violently protesting a new police facility.

SPLC Attorney Thomas Webb Jurgens was one of 23 people charged with domestic terrorism on Monday for allegedly rioting against the construction of a $90 million police training facility.

“An employee at the SPLC was arrested while acting — and identifying — as a legal observer on behalf of the National Lawyers Guild (NLG). The employee is an experienced legal observer, and their arrest is not evidence of any crime, but of heavy-handed law enforcement intervention against protesters,” SPLC said in a statement released Monday night.

“This is part of a months-long escalation of policing tactics against protesters and observers who oppose the destruction of the Weelaunee Forest to build a police training facility. The SPLC has and will continue to urge de-escalation of violence and police use of force against Black, Brown and Indigenous communities — working in partnership with these communities to dismantle white supremacy, strengthen intersectional movements and advance the human rights of all people.”

Biden Guilty of Treason, Declares Horowitz in Scathing Column

Conservative publisher David Horowitz deemed President Joe Biden guilty of treason in a scathing new column on his FrontPageMag.com news site.

Horowitz, the founder of the David Horowitz Freedom Center and best-selling author of several books including “Dark Agenda: The War to Destroy Christian America” and “I Can’t Breathe: How a Racial Hoax is Killing America,” takes aim at Biden in a no-holds-barred column entitled “How Should We Regard the President’s Treason?” In it, he blasts Biden for allowing deadly fentanyl to flow across a porous Mexican border, bungling the COVID pandemic by being weak on China, and botching the pullout from Afghanistan.

“The list of such cover-ups to protect the Chinese Communist dictatorship is long and depressing,” Horowitz writes on the site, which is published by his Freedom Center. “It includes the White House’s stone-walling of congressional efforts to investigate the origins of the pandemic that killed 9 million people globally. It includes similar stone-walling on otherwise inexplicable blunders that turned Afghanistan and its hapless citizens over to the Taliban and China, along with seven multi-billion-dollar air bases and tens of thousands of advanced weapons, and that made hostages of those who helped us during the 20-year war.” (Read more from “Biden Guilty of Treason, Declares Horowitz in Scathing Column” HERE)
