U.S. Veteran ‘Arrested Countless Times’ for Simple Sign About God

A First Amendment battle has erupted over an Army veteran’s campaign to hold “God Bless the Homeless Vets” signs to raise awareness of homelessness among those who served in the nation’s military. . .

Actually more than one court, as the Foundation for Individual Rights and Express announced it has filed, already, two lawsuits on behalf of Jeff Gray, a U.S. Army veteran and retired truck driver.

It’s because he “has been repeatedly stopped, detained, searched, and arrested by the police. His alleged crime? Holding signs — in front of city halls across the United States.”

The cases, based on the First Amendment’s right to speak outside government buildings, so far are against Alpharetta, Georgia, and two police officers, and against the police chief in Blackshear, Georgia, FIRE reported.

“I have been harassed, trespassed, handcuffed and arrested countless times for peacefully exercising my First Amendment rights,” Gray explained in the announcement made by FIRE. “My intention is to ensure that all Americans from the wealthiest millionaire to the poorest homeless person can exercise these rights without fear of consequence from our government.” (Read more from “U.S. Veteran ‘Arrested Countless Times’ for Simple Sign About God” HERE)

UN Looking To Push Religious Communities To ‘Fully Comply’ With LGBTQ Agenda

The United Nations is releasing a report in June regarding the “perceived contradictions” between religious freedom and sexual orientation and gender identity, or SOGI, laws and is looking to push governments to “fully comply with their obligations under international human rights law to protect and empower LGBT+ persons,” according to a U.N. announcement.

The U.N. closed a call for LGBT+ and religious freedom organizations to submit input to the report earlier this month and is scheduled to introduce its findings at the 53rd Human Rights Council meeting in June, according to the announcement. The announcement explains that while there are “perceived contradictions” between the LGBT+ community and religious freedom, the report aims to find ways to “protect LGBT+ persons’ access to faith and spirituality” while also indicating that religious beliefs that would contradict this are not “justified” under the protection of human rights.

“Religious and spiritual narratives have also historically been used to promote, enable, and condone institutional and personal violence and discrimination against individuals based on sexual orientation or gender identity (real or presumed); repress sexual and gender diversity; and promote cis-gendered and heteronormative norms of sexual orientation and gender identity,” the announcement read. “These practices cannot be justified under the rubric of Freedom of Religious Beliefs, or indeed any other human right, to circumvent and defeat the rights of marginalized populations.”

The person in charge of the special report is Victor Madrigal-Borloz, an expert on protection against violence and discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity and a professor at Harvard Law School. Madrigal-Borloz has long been an LGBTQ advocate and recently welcomed Pope Francis’ declaration that homosexuality is “not a crime,” despite the pontiff’s further clarification that in religious circles it is still considered sinful.

U.S. Military Shoots Down Chinese Spy Balloon; Senator Says China Sent Balloon to Send ‘a Message’: They Believe U.S. Is ‘in Decline’

By Townhall. The U.S. military shot down the Chinese surveillance balloon on Saturday as it made its way over the Atlantic Ocean.

Shortly after the government announced the Chinese spy balloon was shot down, President Joe Biden said he authorized the Pentagon to do so days ago.

“I ordered the Pentagon to shoot it down on Wednesday as soon as possible,” Biden told reporters on Saturday, adding “they decided without doing any damage to people on the ground they decided that the best time to do that was when it got over water outside within a 12 mile limit.”

Biden continued to claim that he ordered them to shoot down the balloon on Wednesday, adding “they said to me let’s wait for the safest place to do it.”

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that the president did give him orders to take the balloon down on a few days ago, however, the military decided to wait until the surveillance balloon was no longer a risk to American lives. Rubio Says China Sent Balloon to Send ‘a Message’: They Believe U.S. Is ‘in Decline’

By ABC News. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, the top Republican on the Senate Intelligence Committee, said Sunday that despite China’s claims otherwise, they sent a balloon into the U.S. to send a message about the country’s sway across the globe.

“The key part here is they knew exactly what they were doing and there was a message behind it,” Rubio told ABC “This Week” co-anchor Jonathan Karl.

“They understood that it [the balloon] was going to be spotted, they knew the U.S. government would have to reveal it, that people were gonna see it over the sky. And the message they were trying to send is what they believe internally, and that is that the United States is a once-great superpower that’s hollowed out, it’s in decline,” Rubio said.

The balloon’s presence over Montana caused the Federal Aviation Administration to issue a ground stop for the Billings airport on Wednesday. But U.S. officials only announced the vessel was over the country late Thursday, after it had already flown down from Alaska. The military chose to wait to strike the balloon until the risk to civilians was minimized, defense officials have said. Another Chinese Spy Balloon Discovered; China Claims Balloon Is Researching Weather; ‘Shoot Down the Balloon!’: Trump Calls for Chinese Spy Balloon to Be Destroyed

By Patrick Reilly. Another Chinese spy balloon is currently making its way over Latin America, Pentagon officials said Friday night.

“We are seeing reports of a balloon transiting Latin America. We now assess it is another Chinese surveillance balloon,” Pentagon spokesperson Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder said in a statement. . .

The report of a second balloon comes after Pentagon officials announced Thursday that a high-altitude balloon had been spotted flying over sensitive sites in the western US to collect information. . .

“While we won’t get into specifics in regards to the exact location, I can tell you that the balloon continues to move eastward and is currently over the center of the continental United States,” Ryder said Friday, adding that the balloon will likely be over US airspace for “a few days.”

Ryder described the balloon as “maneuverable,” noting that it “has changed its course, which is again why we’re monitoring it.” He said military officials will continue to assess their “options,” without ruling out shooting it down eventually. (Read more about the Chinese spy balloon HERE)

Chinese Spy Balloon Researching Weather Says Foreign Ministry

By Breitbart. The Chinese Foreign Ministry on Friday initially denied any knowledge of the huge surveillance balloon floating through American airspace, then claimed it was a weather research “airship.”

The Pentagon responded to baffled questions about why the incredibly well-funded U.S. military was unable to detect, thwart, or destroy the balloon by claiming that attacking it could jeopardize people on the ground in Montana.

“I have noted relevant reports. We are gathering and verifying the facts,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said when asked about the balloon.

“China is a responsible country and we always act in accordance with international law. We have no intention to violate the territory or airspace of any sovereign country,” she insisted. (Read more from “China Claims Alleged Chinese Spy Balloon Is ‘Civilian Airship’ Researching Weather” HERE)

‘Shoot Down the Balloon!’: Trump Calls for Chinese Spy Balloon to Be Shot Down

By Breitbart. Former President Donald Trump is calling for the Chinese spy balloon floating over the United States to be shot down.

“SHOOT DOWN THE BALLOON!” Trump posted on Truth Social Friday morning, after the Pentagon confirmed Thursday evening that a Chinese spy balloon had been floating over the U.S. for several days.

Pentagon Press Secretary Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder said in a statement Thursday:

The United States government has detected and is tracking a high-altitude surveillance balloon that is over the continental United States right now. The U.S. government, to include NORAD, continues to track and monitor it closely. The balloon is currently traveling at an altitude well above commercial air traffic, and does not present a military or physical threat to people on the ground. Instances of this kind of balloon activity have been observed previously over the past several years. Once the balloon was detected, the U.S. government acted immediately to protect against the collection of sensitive information.”

A senior defense official told reporters during a briefing, “We are confident that this high-altitude surveillance balloon belongs to the [People’s Republic of China].” (Read more from “‘Shoot Down the Balloon!’: Trump Calls for Chinese Spy Balloon to Be Shot Down” HERE)

Nikki Haley to Hit Trump on Age Issue, Say Its Time for a New Generation of GOP Leaders

After Donald Trump called 2024 soon-to-be presidential rival Nikki Haley “overly ambitious,” she took to Twitter to revive a proposal she floated over a year ago that every person serving in public office be required to take a cognitive test.

Her message was clear: It’s time for the GOP to move beyond the creaky old leadership that’s left it struggling for victories over the last three national elections.

Ms. Haley, 51, wants to lead that shift to a new generation but first, she’ll have to topple her former boss, the 76-year-old Mr. Trump, whom she served as ambassador to the U.N. and who remains the fundamental force in Republican politics.

She first broached the idea of a cognitive test in 2021 and reminded voters of her call in the wake of Mr. Trump’s dismissive affront, posting on Twitter a link to her 2021 proposal.

“We seriously need to have a conversation that if you’re gonna have anyone above a certain age in a position of power — whether it’s the House, whether it’s the Senate, whether it’s vice president, whether it’s president — you should have some sort of cognitive test,” she said. “This shouldn’t be partisan. We should seriously be looking at the ages of the people that are running our country and understand if that’s what we want.” (Read more from “Nikki Haley to Hit Trump on Age Issue, Say Its Time for a New Generation of GOP Leaders” HERE)

‘Look Up’: DoD Spokesperson Gets Snarky With Reporter

Pentagon press secretary Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder told a reporter Friday that Americans can simply look at the sky to determine the whereabouts of an alleged Chinese surveillance balloon after Ryder refused to provide an updated location.

“Does the public not have the right to know?” a reporter asked.

“The public certainly has the ability to look up in the sky and see where the balloon is,” Ryder responded.

Lying George Santos Admits He ‘F–Ked Up,’ Gushes Over Don Lemon, Gripes About Botox

Disgraced Long Island Rep. George Santos openly admitted that he “f–ked up” and “lied to everyone” — while clearly relishing the notoriety the scandal has brought him, a secret recording reveals.

The truth-averse freshman Republican congressman made the frank admission Monday while telling a volunteer that he was not being hired for a $50,000-a-year staff job — while also gushing over texts from CNN’s Don Lemon and chatting about his Botox bill.

In surreal exchanges, Santos told ex-reporter Derek Myers that he couldn’t hire him because he had been accused of making illegal recordings in the past and feared he would do the same to him.

Myers said he’d go to jail rather than tattle about their chats — but then gave the audio to Talking Points Memo (TPM).

In Monday’s meeting in the Capitol, Santos sounded sympathetic to Myers, comparing the stain on the ex-reporter’s reputation to his own political scandal for lying on his resume. (Read more from “Lying George Santos Admits He ‘F–Ked Up,’ Gushes Over Don Lemon, Gripes About Botox” HERE)

U.S. Officials Respond to Beijing’s Explanation for Why Spy Balloon Is Hovering Over Several States

U.S. officials on Friday disputed claims from the People’s Republic of China that a Chinese surveillance balloon detected over the northern United States was a “civilian airship” that had blown off course.

A senior U.S. Defense official told Fox News that the balloon was launched from mainland China. The Pentagon does not believe that this was a weather balloon that flew off course. There was no “force majeure” that caused the Chinese surveillance balloon to enter U.S. airspace, as China’s foreign ministry spokesperson had claimed.

“This was intentional,” the senior U.S. official said.

The balloon is currently flying at 60,000 feet, which is higher than most U.S. warplanes or aircraft can fly. Multiple Republican lawmakers and former President Trump – who declared his candidacy for president in 2024 in November – have called on President Biden to shoot it down. . .

“The airship is from China. It is a civilian airship used for research, mainly meteorological, purposes,” a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said. “Affected by the Westerlies and with limited self-steering capability, the airship deviated far from its planned course.” (Read more from “U.S. Officials Respond to Beijing’s Explanation for Why Spy Balloon Is Hovering Over Several States” HERE)

Daddy Issues: Hunter Biden’s Ridiculous Legal Letter Is Trying to Distract From the Real Scandal — His Dad; Hunter Biden’s Lawyers Admit That His ‘Computer Data’ Is Real

By New York Post. . .Hunter is in the news, playing the victim, trying to make it all about him. In this, he’s got a lot in common with the Biden administration, which would have you believe that the Justice Department’s seemingly endless criminal investigation is all about Hunter, not about President Biden’s knowledge of and participation in the lucrative Biden family business of cashing in on his political influence. . .

But, in signature Biden bluster, he audaciously claims that he is the wronged party because the trove was published without his consent — as if what matters is how we found out about the laptop rather than the damning information on the laptop.

Again, who cares? On its face, the erratic and unreliable Hunter’s story seems implausible. He abandoned the laptop at a repair shop and ignored the repairman’s calls to retrieve it. Legally, his consent was no longer relevant. More to the point, as far as the investigation is concerned, Hunter’s pining would only matter if the government stole his laptop. That’s not what happened.

Still more significant: The government and Republican Sens. Chuck Grassley and Ron Johnson were already investigating Hunter Biden’s shady activities before the laptop came to light. To be sure, there would be nothing wrong with prosecutors using laptop evidence to bolster their case; but they hardly need that evidence to prove tax violations (over which there were longstanding liens on Hunter’s properties), and to prove that he made a false statement on an application that gun purchasers must complete, by representing that he was not an illegal drug user.

Because Hunter is just a sideshow, though, let’s cut to the chase — President Biden. Under our law, constitutional violations are personal. That is, only the person whose privacy has been violated by, say, an illegal search has the right to seek suppression of that evidence. As we’ve seen, Hunter has no credible claim in that regard because there was no illegal search by the government. Even he doesn’t claim that it was the feds who took his laptop from him and then publicized the contents. Hunter Biden’s Lawyers Admit That His ‘Computer Data’ Is Real

By Daily Caller. Attorneys for Hunter Biden admitted in a letter submitted Wednesday to the Department of Justice that data obtained from his laptop is authentic.

Biden’s attorneys admitted in the letter that data retrieved from the laptop by John Paul Mac Isaac, a computer store owner from Wilmington, Delaware, is authentic. They asserted that Mac Isaac unlawfully possessed the laptop, even though Mac Isaac has produced paperwork showing that Biden dropped the computer off at his repair shop and signed over custody.

“Mr. Mac Isaac has admitted to gaining access to our client’s personal computer data without Mr. Biden’s consent. Mr. Mac Isaac has admitted to copying that data without Mr. Biden’s consent, and Mr. Mac Isaac has admitted to distributing copies of that data to the political enemies of Mr. Biden’s father, without Mr. Biden’s consent. These unlawful actions caused the widespread publication, manipulation, and exploitation of Mr. Biden’s most personal information,” attorney Abbe Lowell alleged to Assistant Attorney General for National Security Matthew Olsen. Poll: Nearly Half of Americans Consider Biden’s Handling of Classified Docs ‘Major Scandal’

Nearly half of Americans consider President Biden’s handling of classified documents a “major scandal,” a Rasmussen Reports survey released this week found.

The survey noted that a special counsel is investigating how classified documents — from Biden’s time as vice president during the Obama administration — ended up in multiple locations, including his Delaware home. When asked if it is a major scandal, minor scandal, or no scandal at all, nearly half, 48 percent, agreed it is a “major scandal.”

Nearly a quarter, 24 percent, consider it a “minor” scandal, and another 24 percent consider it “no” scandal at all. Four percent remain unsure.

Nearly three-quarters of Republicans, 73 percent, consider it a “major scandal,” as do 50 percent of independents and 23 percent of Democrats. A plurality of Democrats, 40 percent, do not believe it is scandal at all. (Read more from “Poll: Nearly Half of Americans Consider Biden’s Handling of Classified Docs ‘Major Scandal’” HERE)
