DeSantis Breaks Silence on Trump’s Attacks

After cruising to victory in last Tuesday’s midterm election, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis answered questions this week, including on what has become something of an elephant in the Republican room — former President Donald Trump’s statements attacking DeSantis that drew the ire of many conservatives.

Asked what he thinks about Trump’s “special announcement” slated for 9:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday night and what his response to “some of the less than flattering comments” Trump made about the GOP governor — for whom Trump said he voted on Election Day — DeSantis broke his silence on Trump’s attacks, but took the high road.

“One of the things I’ve learned in this job is when you’re leading, when you’re getting things done, you take incoming fire,” DeSantis explained. “That’s just the nature of it. I roll out of bed in the morning, I’ve got corporate media outlets that have a spasm — just the fact that I’m getting up in the morning,” DeSantis said, choosing to not directly return the 45th president’s fire.

“I don’t think any governor got attacked more, particularly by corporate media, than me over my four-year term,” DeSantis noted. “And yet, I think what you learn is all that’s just noise. Really what matters is, are you leading? Are you getting in front of issues? Are you delivering results for people? And are you standing up for folks?” DeSantis continued. “If you do that, then none of that stuff matters.”

October’s Border Arrests Are the Third Highest in U.S. History

Despite a general lack of concern among Democrats and corporate media, the U.S.-Mexico border continues to spiral out of control, setting new records for illegal border crossings nearly every month now.

In October, more than 230,000 illegal immigrants were arrested along the southwest border, the third-highest monthly total in U.S. history, according to new data released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

Only May and April of this year have been worse than October, with 235,785 and 241,136 arrests, respectively.

Prior to the Biden administration, monthly arrests at the border rarely exceeded 100,000. In October 2020, for example, roughly 45,000 illegal border-crossers were arrested by CBP. But now it has become commonplace. Every month since March, arrests have surpassed 200,000.

For some historical perspective on the October 2022 numbers, consider that in all of 2017 there were only about 303,000 border arrests, total. And just 46,000 in October of that year. (Read more from “October’s Border Arrests Are the Third Highest in U.S. History” HERE)

Congressman Explodes After Wray Refuses Question on FBI, January 6

FBI Director Chris Wray refused to say Tuesday whether FBI sources had dressed as Trump supporters and entered the U.S. Capitol ahead of protesters on January 6, 2021. . .

“Did the FBI have confidential human sources embedded within the January 6 protesters on January 6 2021?” [Clay Higgins] the Louisiana congressman asked. Confidential human sources are not FBI agents; they are typically insiders in a group or well-connected individuals who have agreed to feed information to the FBI through handlers.

The FBI director said he has to be “very careful” about “when we do and do not and where we have and have not used confidential human sources.” . . .

Higgins pressed Wray on if any FBI confidential human sources were dressed as supporters of former President Donald Trump and positioned in the U.S. Capitol “prior to the doors being open[ed].”

Wray began his response reiterating his previous answer when Higgins exploded: “It should be a no! Hunter Biden Interview Goes South After Host Gets Honest About What Happens ‘Behind the Scenes’

Hunter Biden’s interview on a Twitter Spaces live broadcast devolved into chaos after he was apparently disconnected from the line, and the host launched into a rant about his hands being “tied” on what he was allowed to ask the president’s son.

Hunter Biden appeared on “The Crypto Roundtable Show” with host Mario Nawfal on Tuesday, the day of the week the host typically reserves for topics related to NFTs (non-fungible tokens). Biden, however, had very little commentary to offer on NFTs or cryptocurrency.

Biden appeared on the show alongside “Tron” producer Donald Kushner and talked a little about his drug recovery and how painting around the clock has helped him stay sober, and Kushner promoted his new Web3-inspired Cryptosaurs NFT collection.

Toward the end of the interview, as Nawfal was thanking the men for appearing on the show, it appeared that they both hopped off without saying anything. The perceived slight sent Nawfal into rant, saying his “hands were tied” on what he could ask Biden.

“They just jumped off now,” he said. “So, that gives you an idea of how – behind the scenes, that was tough. … There was a lot of requirements we had to meet. F— that was so stressful. Republicans Vow to Challenge Mitch McConnell for GOP Senate Leader

Republican senators on Tuesday promised to challenge Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) for GOP Senate leader during Wednesday’s scheduled leadership vote, potentially marking the first time McConnell would receive a “no” vote in his tenure as leader.

A gang of Senate Republicans on Friday tried to postpone the election but McConnell’s election lieutenant, Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY), has repeatedly stated the election will occur as planned.

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) stated Tuesday that if McConnell holds the election before the Georgia Senate race is decided, they will object to McConnell’s reelection.

“If the excuse is they are uncontested, they will be contested. I have no doubt about that. If nobody else contests, I’ll contest,” Johnson told a Politico reporter.

Cruz echoed the same strategy. “If leadership refuses to delay the election, if leadership tries to ram through an election tomorrow morning, I think it is extremely likely it will be a contested election,” Cruz said. “That you will see one or more senators run against Mitch McConnell.” (Read more from “Republicans Vow to Challenge Mitch McConnell for GOP Senate Leader” HERE)

DeSantis Leads Trump by Double Digits in Key States, Conservative Polling Memo Shows

By Washington Examiner. Polls conducted for a prominent conservative organization show Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) boasting a large lead over former President Donald Trump in hypothetical one-on-one matches in several key states.

A polling memo from WPA Intelligence, which performed the surveys on behalf of Club for Growth Action, found Trump trailing DeSantis by double digits in the Iowa caucus, New Hampshire primary, Florida primary, and Georgia primary.

The biggest leads for DeSantis are in Florida, with 56% compared to Trump’s 30%, and in Georgia, at 55% against Trump’s 35%. In all four states, the numbers have only gotten better for DeSantis, while support for Trump has waned.

“Republicans need to be united behind a strong candidate and a platform that shows voters real solutions to beat Biden and the Democrats in 2024,” said a statement from Club for Growth President David McIntosh. “Our polling shows that Republican primary voters recognize Trump’s insults against Republicans as hollow and counterproductive, and it’s taking a significant toll on his support.” (Read more from “DeSantis Leads Trump by Double Digits in Key States, Conservative Polling Memo Shows” HERE)

Lara Trump Warns Ron DeSantis to Not Run Against Her Father-In-Law

By Business Insider. Lara Trump has warned Ron DeSantis against running for president in 2024.

“I think that Ron DeSantis is very smart. Look, he’s a young guy. There will be a lot of opportunity for him in the future, and he knows this, to run for president. I think he’s probably waiting to see what my father-in-law does,” she told Sky News Australia host Erin Molan on Sunday. DeSantis is 44 years old, nearly three decades younger than former President Donald Trump, who is 76.

Lara Trump, a Fox News contributor who is married to Trump’s son Eric, suggested DeSantis run for president in 2028.

“I think he’s a smart enough guy to know that it will be great to have all the support of this party, of the America First MAGA movement — whatever you want to call it — fully behind him in 2028 than possibly fracturing it in 2024,” Trump said.

Person Claiming to Be Immigration Worker Tries to Visit Pelosi Attack Suspect in Jail: Authorities

By ABC News 7. A suspicious person trying to visit the man accused of attacking Paul Pelosi, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, was turned away by San Francisco County Jail officials.

The person requested a visit with David DePape on October 31. The San Francisco Sheriff’s Office tells ABC7 News, the person claimed to be an immigration employee and provided a business card, but had no government credentials.

“We don’t know if this was a case of a forgetful ICE agent or a person impersonating a government official,” said Kelvin Wu, a spokesperson for the San Francisco Sheriff’s Office. Projection: GOP Wins House of Representatives

In its latest projection, far-left NBC News says the Republican party will narrowly win the House of Representatives by a narrower than narrow 219 to 216 margin.

If this projection holds, that will bring about a big sigh of relief and one of the rare bright spots in an otherwise disappointing midterm result for the GOP.

What was supposed to be a GOP wave — one I was sure of — turned out to be anything but.

When it was all over, Democrats potentially increased their hold on the all-important U.S. Senate by one seat. Democrats could cement that increase if current Democrat U.S. Senator Raphael Warnock wins Georgia’s December runoff against Republican Herschel Walker. Last week, Warnock did beat Walker by nearly a full point. Because no one topped 50 percent in that race, the state requires a runoff. NBC News Suspends Reporter for Retracted Paul Pelosi Story

NBC Today show correspondent Miguel Almaguer has been suspended pending an internal investigation after NBC News had to retract his reporting[.] . .

In an on-air report that went viral soon after it aired Almaguer suggested Nancy Pelosi’s husband was not in danger when cops arrived at their San Francisco home.

“After a ‘knock and announce,’ the front door was opened by Mr. Pelosi.
