. . .[W]ith Election Day less than a week away, some liberals will try and use early voting to demonstrate how things might not be so bad. What I’m about to say is meant as an exercise in crushing their hopes and dreams into dust. It’s to smother with a pillow their hope that no red tsunami is coming.

In two liberal strongholds, Clark County, Nevada, and Miami-Dade, Florida, Republicans are winning the early vote—and it has some Democrats in complete panic mode.

First, let’s head to Florida (via ABC News):

Not great, Bob! Registered Republicans are outpacing Democrats in the breakdown of the more than 3.5 million Florida voters who had cast ballots as of Thursday morning, according to data posted on the state Division of Elections website — an unusual pivot in early-vote trends for the traditionally purple state.

In what may be an ominous sign for Florida Democrats with less than a week until Election Day, Republicans across the state lead with 216,302 more votes than the Democrats, mostly cast in-person. Democrats have a 128,660 count edge in vote-by-mail numbers.

Disgusting: Major Christian Leaders Asked Jan. 6 Committee to Investigate Christian Nationalism

A group of prominent Christian leaders, including the heads of major denominations, say they submitted a letter earlier this year to the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, urging members to examine Christian nationalism and arguing the ideology played a crucial role in the insurrection.

Organizers of the letter, which has not previously been disclosed, told Religion News Service they were approached by a committee investigator on the topic. The resulting statement, dated June 2, was facilitated by Christians Against Christian Nationalism, an effort orchestrated by the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty.

“The ideology of Christian nationalism helped motivate and intensify the insurrection,” the letter reads in part. “We ask the Committee to thoroughly investigate the role that Christian nationalism played in the attack. This investigation into Christian nationalism is important so that history does not repeat itself and so that we understand this threat to our country’s historic commitment to religious liberty and the importance of defeating it.”

Representatives for the House committee did not immediately respond to requests to confirm the faith leaders’ account of why the letter was drafted, or to clarify whether the committee pursued their request and investigated Christian nationalism specifically.

The letter notes the Christians Against Christian Nationalism campaign began at least 18 months before the insurrection took place. That is why, signatories argued, they “recognized the presence of Christian nationalism at the Capitol on that fateful day.” The letter also referenced a report published in February by the BJC and the Freedom From Religion Foundation detailing the role Christian nationalism played in the attack. Man Charged in Capitol Riot Sentenced to 8 Months in Prison

By ABC 3 Wear-TV. A Pensacola man charged in relation to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot was sentenced to 8 months in prison Thursday.

Jesus Rivera, the first of four Northwest Florida men to be charged in the U.S. Capitol riot, was found guilty of Disorderly and Disruptive Conduct in a Restricted Building; Violent Entry and Disorderly Conduct in a Capitol Building, and Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building; and Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building back in June.

CNN: Democrats Have to Run on Abortion and Jan 6 Because They ‘Can’t Fight on the Economy’

A CNN reporter admitted that Democrats are being forced to run on the issues of abortion and the Jan. 6 rioting at the U.S. Capitol because the economy is so bad.

The CNN panel was discussing Democrats’ chances in the midterm elections when reporter Kasie Hunt made a blunt assessment on the only messaging available to candidates on the left.

“The one thing I will say is that if you talk to and you listen to what vulnerable Democrats, especially in House seats, are starting to say … is that they don’t feel that the party has really come up with a good economic message from the top,” said Kasie Hunt.

Shots Fired at Family Home of Republican Congressional Candidate While His Children Were Inside: Report

Federal law enforcement officials have launched a criminal investigation into gunshots that were fired late last month at the family home of North Carolina congressional candidate Pat Harrigan (R), a former Green Beret.

News of the shots that hit Harrigan’s parent’s home in Hickory, North Carolina, broke Thursday afternoon after the family disclosed the incident in an interview with The Associated Press.

Harrigan’s campaign said that Harrigan’s children were inside the home when the shooting happened and that a shot hit the home within a few feet of where the children were sleeping.

WBT News reported that the FBI was involved in the investigation and that other agencies may be involved.

Ben Carson Sounds Alarm Over CDC Recommending COVID Vaccine for Children

Dr. Ben Carson told the Daily Caller on Thursday that the decision to add the COVID-19 vaccine to the childhood immunization schedule was “disappointing” and that “we have no idea what the long term implications are.”

A panel of vaccine experts working for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention voted unanimously on Oct. 20 to recommend that children between the ages of six months and 18 should receive two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Although the vote did not establish a mandate, several states follow the CDC’s recommendations.

“So many of the states decide on their mandates based on those recommendations, and it would be a good thing to follow the science,” the former neurosurgeon and 2016 presidential candidate told the Caller. “The science tells us that the risk of death or severe complications from COVID for children is 0.025%. That’s approaching zero.”

Elon Musk Cancels ‘Days of Rest’ for Twitter Employees as Layoffs Loom: Report

Twitter’s “days of rest” for employee are now a thing of the past under new owner Elon Musk, according to a report Thursday.

Twitter began offering one companywide paid rest day per month, in addition to normal paid time off, during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. The policy was meant to help reduce burnout among staffers.

But Musk has eliminated future “days of rest” from Twitter’s calendar this week, sources familiar with the situation told Bloomberg. The move came as Musk swiftly overhauls Twitter’s workplace culture after completing his $44 billion deal to buy the firm last week.

The Post has reached out to Twitter for comment on the change.

Musk interrupted one of Twitter’s “days of rest” even before he became the company’s owner and CEO. In April, employees reportedly learned that Musk had rejected an offer to take a seat on Twitter’s board of directors just before a scheduled day off — a development that left workers stressed out instead of relaxed. Obama Warns ‘Demonizing’ Opponents Leads to Violence as Biden Calls Republicans Threat to Democracy

Former President Barack Obama warned Democrats not to demonize their political opponents Wednesday even as President Joe Biden delivered a speech attacking “MAGA Republicans” and tying them to last week’s assault on Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband.

Obama told a rally in Phoenix, Arizona, that demonizing opponents with “over-the-top” rhetoric could result in physical violence:

“One thing is clear, and that is this increasing habit of demonizing political opponents, of just yelling and thinking not just that I disagree with someone, but that they’re evil and wrong,” Obama said. “That creates a dangerous climate. And when we have politicians and elected officials in leadership positions who continue to promote over-the-top rhetoric or make light of it … more people are going to get hurt.”

Obama did not specifically mention Biden, his former vice president. Elon Musk Agrees to Restore Twitter Censorship Tools After Meeting With Leftist Groups

Elon Musk has agreed to restore Twitter content moderation tools that had been blocked for some workers by the end of the week, according to leaders of leftist groups including the ADL and NAACP who met with Musk eager to expand censorship on the platform.

Bloomberg reports that Twitter’s new owner Elon Musk recently promised civil rights leaders that he will restore access to content moderation tools that some staff had been locked out of by the end of the week.

During a Zoom meeting with the heads of some of the country’s leading leftist organizations, including the NAACP, Color of Change, and the ADL, Musk committed to restoring access to the tools.

Civil rights organizations raised worries about Musk’s plan to eliminate censorship on the platform and restore the accounts of users who had been expelled. According to Bloomberg, Twitter recently limited the number of people with access to the dashboard of tools that the Trust and Safety team utilizes to enforce policy actions.

Breitbart News recently reported that following Musk’s recent announcement that Twitter would be unbanning a number of blacklisted users, he has since stated that they won’t be allowed to return to the platform for “at least a few more weeks,” or in other words, until after the midterm elections have passed. Election Commission Deputy Director Accused of Election Fraud, Sending Ballots to State Rep’s Home

The deputy director of the Milwaukee Election Commission was fired after allegedly sending fake ballots to a state representative, the city’s mayor announced Thursday.

Kimberly Zapata, the deputy director of the city’s election commission, allegedly directed the fictitious military ballots from a state election website to the state representative, and has been “forthcoming about her actions,” Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson tweeted. Republican State Rep. Janel Brandtjen found Oct. 28 that three military ballots had been sent to her residence, all featuring the first name “Holly” with different surnames.

Brandtjen surmised that the ballots likely did not reference real individuals, delivering them unopened to the Waukesha County Sheriff for investigation.

“It does not matter that this alleged crime did not take place at work,” Johnson insisted, saying he learned of the matter Wednesday. “It does not matter that City of Milwaukee ballots were not part of this. Nor does it matter that there was no attempt to vote illegally or tamper with election results.”

Court: Green Bay, Wisconsin Must Let GOP Poll Watchers Observe the Entire Early Voting Process

A Wisconsin judge issued a temporary injunction on Wednesday that will allow Republican poll watchers in Green Bay to observe the entire early voting process throughout the 2022 election cycle. The ruling came less than 24 hours after the Republican National Committee (RNC) took legal action against the city for barring GOP observers from supervising certain parts of the in-person absentee voting procedures.

In his order, Brown County Circuit Court Judge Marc Hammer ruled that Green Bay election officials must “provide observer access to the witness certification process and to the electors depositing his or her ballot in the ballot box during the in-person absentee voting window,” adding that the city must develop a “viable process” adhering to the ruling by 2 p.m. on Wednesday. Under state law, in-person absentee ballot voting is permitted at a municipal clerk’s office prior to Election Day.

In the lawsuit filed by the RNC on Tuesday, the plaintiffs alleged that Green Bay City Clerk Celestine Jeffreys had violated a Wisconsin statute that, as described in the suit, requires “municipal clerks [to] allow the public to observe all public aspects of the in-person absentee ballot voting process.” According to the national GOP group, Jeffreys had divided the in-person absentee ballot voting process into two different parts of the building, with one being in her office and the other in the hallway outside her office.
