Democrats: The Only Way to Save Democracy Is One-Party Rule

At this point, it would save everyone time if Democrats could simply point to a policy agenda item that isn’t going to save democracy — if such a thing exists.

If Republicans vote, they are killing democracy. If they don’t vote, they are killing democracy. The only way to “save democracy,” writes The Washington Post’s Max Boot, is to empower one-party rule — a position that probably sounds counterintuitive to anyone with a middle-school education. “Now you need to vote to literally save democracy again,” contends President Joe Biden, or we will lose our “fundamental rights and freedoms like the right to choose, the right to privacy, the right to vote — our very democracy.”

Chilling stuff. But it doesn’t end there. You will remember that by failing to “reform” the filibuster, which would entail authorizing the thinnest of fleeting majorities to shove through massive generational “reforms” without any national consensus or debate, we are also killing democracy. This has been the position not only of left-wing pundits and the New York Times editorial board, but also senators tasked with defending their institution. I wonder if they will support this democracy-saving fix next session, as well?

Then again, if we don’t nationalize the economy to avert a climate crisis, we are also killing democracy. “We’ve got to save democracy in order to save our species,” Jamie Raskin explains. And if we don’t empty the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to temporarily keep gas prices low to help Democrats win in 2022, we are killing democracy. “We find ourselves in a situation, where keeping gas prices low is key to preserving and strengthening the future of our democracy,” MSNBC’s Chris Hayes says.

We must allow the president to unilaterally create trillion-dollar spending bills and break existing private sector contracts by fiat. For democracy. We must pack the court to “save democracy.” We must create a Ministry of Truth to help with “strengthening democratic institutions.” We must vote for a Pennsylvania candidate who can’t cobble two consecutive coherent sentences together because the “fate of our democracy” is at stake, says our former president. Tucker Carlson Reveals Trump Call With Arizona Senate Candidate

Former President Donald Trump encouraged Arizona Republican Senate candidate Blake Masters to talk about election fraud in a phone call revealed as part of a new documentary from Fox News host Tucker Carlson.

The conversation, shown in a Tucker Carlson Original streaming on Fox Nation, took place after Masters said in a debate this month against Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly that there was no evidence of the vote count being rigged in favor of President Joe Biden in 2020.

Trump urged Masters to take cues from Kari Lake, a Republican candidate running for governor in Arizona, who has made election integrity a top priority in her campaign.

‘Ready to Defend Every Inch of NATO Soil:’ U.S. Military Sends Elite Troops to Eastern Europe Amid Russia/Ukraine War: Report

By Daily Wire. U.S. military forces have deployed one of the nation’s most elite groups of airborne division soldiers to Europe for the first time since World War II, vowing to fight alongside Ukrainian troops in the war against Russia, according to a report.

CBS News reported Friday that the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Division, a group trained to deploy anywhere in the world and fight within hours, deployed approximately 4,700 soldiers from Fort Campbell, Kentucky, to Romania, where soldiers stand ready to reinforce NATO’s eastern flank on a moment’s notice.

“We’re ready to defend every inch of NATO soil,” the division’s Deputy Commander, Brigadier General John Lubas, told the outlet, adding their presence is necessary because of the group’s unique light infantry force capabilities.

“We bring that mobility to our aircraft and our air assaults,” Lubas said.

Division soldiers, nicknamed the “Screamin’ Eagles,” are now the closest American forces to the ongoing fighting in Ukraine since Russian President Vladimir Putin launched military operations there earlier this year. Since then, Russian troops have advanced on the Crimean Peninsula and scaled the Black Sea coast into the Kherson region, including Mykolaiv and Odesa port cities. Russia Hits Homes in Ukraine, Warns of “Uncontrolled Escalation”

By NDTV. Under pressure in the south of Ukraine, Russia fired missiles and drones into Ukrainian-held Mykolaiv on Sunday, destroying an apartment block in the ship-building city near the front and said the war was trending towards “uncontrolled escalation”.

Mykolaiv lies roughly 35 km (22 miles) northwest of the front line to occupied Kherson, the southern region where Russia has ordered 60,000 people to flee a Ukrainian counter offensive “to save your lives”.

Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, who some Russian nationalists have blamed for Moscow’s setbacks since the Feb. 24 invasion, discussed the “rapidly deteriorating situation” in calls with French, British and Turkish counterparts, the ministry said.

He also spoke by phone with U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin for the second time in three days. The Pentagon’s readout of the call said Austin told Shoigu he “rejected any pretext for Russian escalation.”

Without providing evidence, Shoigu said Ukraine could escalate by using a “dirty bomb” – conventional explosives laced with radioactive material. Ukraine does not possess nuclear weapons, while Russia has said it could protect Russian territory with its nuclear arsenal. Judge Orders Fauci, Psaki Deposed in Social Media Censorship Lawsuit

A federal judge has ordered Dr. Anthony Fauci and former White House press secretary Jen Psaki to be deposed for a lawsuit that claims top officials in the Biden administration colluded with social media companies to censor debate about the COVID pandemic and The Post’s expose on the Hunter Biden laptop.

Fauci, Psaki and other other administration officials — including Surgeon General Vivek Murthy — must testify about their communications with the tech companies as part of the lawsuit brought in May by Republican attorneys general Eric Schmitt of Missouri and Jeff Landry of Louisiana.

The attorneys general sought the testimony of Fauci, the chief medical adviser to President Biden, because of his high profile position and his public comments rejecting the theory that the virus leaked from a lab in Wuhan, China, as well as his claims about the efficacy of mask wearing.

“Plaintiffs urge that his comments on these important issues are relevant to the matter at hand and are further reasons why Dr. Fauci should be deposed,” US District Court Judge Terry Doughty wrote in his 28-page order issued on Friday. Felon Accused of Fatal Shooting at Dallas Hospital Was Out of Prison Early Despite Violent History

The man accused of fatally shooting two medical workers at Methodist Dallas Medical Center in Texas on Saturday was on parole after being released from prison years early despite his long criminal history.

The arrest warrant affidavit for Nestor Oswaldo Hernandez, 30, states that during his girlfriend’s labor, he became erratic and accused her of cheating on him. He then hit her with a handgun before opening fire on the first two medical workers who walked into the room.

A Methodist Health System (MHS) police officer who responded to the scene shot and wounded Hernandez. It was then that Hernandez was transported to another hospital for treatment. The Dallas Police Department and MHSPD later announced they arrested Hernandez for capital murder.

At the time of the shooting, Hernandez was out on parole for a 2015 aggravated robbery in which he taped a woman’s hands and eyes, leaving her with a broken nose and fractured eye, before stealing her cell phone, vehicle, and at least $3,000 in cash. Hernandez pleaded guilty to the incident in 2015 and was sentenced to eight years in prison but was allowed back into society with parole parameters in October 2021.

‘Big Mistake!’: Trump Drops Truth Bomb After DeSantis Endorses GOP Candidate He Disavowed

Former President Donald Trump fired off a foreboding Truth on Sunday night, reacting to a Washington Examiner exclusive that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) is recording a robocall for a Republican candidate whom Trump has rejected.

That candidate is Joe O’Dea, the underdog Senate contender in Colorado who is trailing Sen. Michael Bennet (D-CO) in public opinion polls and last week made waves when he vowed to “actively campaign against” Trump and spoke favorably of other party heavyweights, including DeSantis.

Sharing the article written by Washington Examiner senior political correspondent David Drucker on his Truth Social platform, Trump added a brief message. “A BIG MISTAKE!” Trump said in all capital letters. Report: Kansas Democrat Governor Sponsors All-Ages Halloween Drag Show

Vulnerable Democrat Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly’s Department of Commerce used tax dollars to sponsor an all-ages Halloween drag show that took place over the weekend, the DailyMail.com reported on Monday.

The Wichita event was called the “DADA Ball,” advertised a “free, all-ages evening of music, fashion, drag & dancing,’ and had several sponsors including the Kansas Creative Arts & Industries Commission, which is a part of the Kansas Department of Commerce. Kelly’s Lt. Gov. David Toland leads the department. . .

The DailyMail.com obtained images of the event showing “scantily-clad drag performers dancing at the Wichita event in front of both adults and young children.”

Hispanic Voters Believe Nation Heading in Wrong Direction: Report

A new national poll that surveyed approximately 1,300 Hispanic voters revealed about half of those surveyed believe the United States is on the wrong track, citing key issues impacting their views on the current political climate — particularly with regard to crime, healthcare, and inflation.

WPA Intelligence, a conservative polling firm that collaborated with Visto Media on behalf of the Latino advocacy group Bienvenido, conducted a poll of 1,288 Hispanic voters with a 3% margin of error earlier this month. The firm built out the sample before the 2022 midterm elections to gauge which side the demographic would likely swing at the polling station less than two weeks away.

According to the poll, about 56% of Hispanic voters said they are frustrated with the current state of the country and that the nation has gone off on the wrong track. . .

WPA officials said the poll used a verified voter Pew Research study of the 2020 Hispanic Vote where 38% supported former President Trump and 59% marked their ballots for Biden. Half of Trump’s Hispanic voters supported him in 2016, while the other half were from voters who either gave his Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton their vote — or did not cast a ballot. Mail-in Ballots Found in Dumpster in California

An investigation is under way after mail-in ballots and voter information guides for the Nov. 8 election were found inside a dumpster at a Lake Elsinore apartment complex, officials said.

The Riverside County Registrar of Voters received a report about the discovery on Wednesday, Oct. 19, the registrar’s office said in an emailed statement. The U.S. Postal Service confirmed the report.

It’s unclear how many ballots and guides were found in the dumpster or where the apartment complex in question is located. A resident reported on social media that at least 100 pieces of election-related mail were in the trash.

The ballots and guides were recovered and mailed the same day, the registrar’s office and postal service said. Elections officials and postal service inspectors are investigating and the matter has been referred to law enforcement, according to Patrick Munar, a registrar’s spokesperson.
