Second Amendment Takes Center Stage as Conservatives Rally Around the Republic

Photo Credit: Fox NewsCONCORD, N.H. – An immigration debate is raging and a budget crisis looms in Congress, but the conservative activists gathered outside the New Hampshire Statehouse had just one thing on their minds: guns.

“The Second Amendment is there to protect us from losing the rest of them,” said Adam Brisebois, 34, of Hudson, who cradled his 3-year-old daughter on his right shoulder and a rifle on the left. “If we don’t fight, we’ll lose our rights.”

Thursday’s rally, organized by tea party leaders, drew nearly 500 people, many of them waving signs and carrying loaded weapons, to the state capital. Conservative leaders elsewhere report a wave of similar protests as grass-roots activists from Florida to Colorado seize on a new rallying cry for a tea party movement, which is trying to recover from a painful 2012 election season.

Many activists aren’t happy with the GOP’s sudden embrace of more lenient immigration proposals and they’re monitoring the approaching congressional deadline to avoid massive cuts to military programs. But for now at least, the debate over guns and the perceived threat of losing them tops their list.

It’s an “organic” movement with little coordination from national conservative organizations, according to Amy Kremer, chairman of the Tea Party Express. “It’s happening by itself,” she said.

Outrage: Alaska’s Senators Support Transfer of F-16’s and M1 Tanks to Muslim Brotherhood Government in Egypt

While Egypt burned, Alaska’s United States Senators voted yesterday to table an amendment that would have blocked the sale of advanced military weaponry to the Muslim Brotherhood-controlled Egyptian Government whose leader has recently made headlines for calling the Jews “bloodsuckers” and “descendants of apes and pigs.”

Apparently our delegation is impervious to the fact that the very organization that spawned Osama Bin Laden, and the terrorist organization Hamas, will be the recipients of US arms. The goal of these dangerous extremists is a global caliphate.

One has to wonder how putting such dangerous weapons in the hands of an anti-Semite whose credo calls for jihad and martyrdom will help to stabilize a region that is already in turmoil.

In case you’re wondering, the Muslim Brotherhood’s creed reads as follows: “Allah is our objective; the Quran is our law, the Prophet is our leader; Jihad is our way; and death for the sake of Allah is the highest of our aspirations.”

The amendment in question was put forward by Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky.

U.S. For Sale: Obama Lets China Gobble Up U.S. Energy

Photo Credit: abangbay @ MalaysiaOil And Politics: Beijing plays the debt card as the Obama administration quietly lets China acquire major ownership interests in oil and natural gas resources across the U.S. at the same time it blocks the Keystone pipeline.

Normally, foreign investment in the U.S. is to be welcomed. It creates jobs, boosts economic growth and promotes trade and exports.

But when that investor is an ambitious and increasingly belligerent China to whom we owe over a trillion dollars, eyebrows and concerns need to be raised.

Reversing a Bush administration policy, the Obama administration is encouraging Beijing to acquire equity interests in U.S. energy. In 2005, the Bush administration blocked China on grounds of national security from buying California-based Unocal Corp. for $18.4 billion.

That was then, and this is now.

Judd Uncertain of 2014 Run: McConnell Now At-Risk of Conservative Challenger

Photo Credit: Genevieve719Actress Ashley Judd and Indy Car driver Dario Franchitti are ending their marriage after 11 years, and, yes, the news impacts Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

Judd is weighing whether to jump into politics and challenge McConnell in Kentucky in 2014. She was in Washington for the inauguration and attended an event at EMILY’s List, the group that backs pro-choice Democratic women running for governor or Congress. Judd even carpooled with Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill of Missouri, who demonstrated she knows how to win in a red state after defeating the self-injurious Todd Akin.

In a statement, the former couple said they mutually agreed to end the marriage. Judd tweeted at Franchitti suggesting they plan to remain close — making a reference to “family,” an awfully politically correct tweet.

Given this development, there’s a chance Judd won’t want to jump into a messy political campaign.

Pictures of Enormously Successful 2013 March for Life

Earlier today, Kathleen and I participated in the 40th March for Life in Washington, D.C. Although it was overcast and sometimes snowing, and the temperatures were well below freezing, there was a huge turnout. The numbers appeared to be in the hundreds of thousands.

Participants were optimistic, cheerful, and incredibly friendly.

Here are a few photos we took of the event:

Michigan Teen Helps Save Women From Rapist

SHEPHERD, MI — The kids were home alone. Their dad had stepped out and would be back shortly. But in the few minutes before he returned, their quiet world was upended by a terrifying visit.

It was just before 10 p.m. Wednesday. Acelin Persyn was sitting in the living room inside her family’s small house in Shepherd, a tiny, mid-Michigan town where most people know most everyone else and few lock their doors when they leave. The Persyns’ house sits on South Mission Road, a narrow strip of dirt that runs between miles of frozen fields, farmhouses and winter-idled tractors.

Acelin, a round-faced 11-year-old, was playing with 2-year-old brother Angus Persyn. James Persyn III, a shy 14-year-old with shaggy hair, was in his bedroom with the TV cranked loud to drown out the noise of his younger siblings in the other room.

Their father, James Persyn Jr., 36, had left to pick up his fiancée, Tiffany Ramon, 28. Her shift had just ended at her family’s business, J & M Produce and Nursery, only a few miles away.

Suddenly, the children heard frantic banging on their front door and a woman’s panicked screams.

Obama Sworn In For Second Term During White House Ceremony

President Obama was sworn in for his second term on Sunday, accompanied by his family in a short ceremony in the White House.

Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts administered the oath of office to Obama in the Blue Room, as the swearing-in was watched by a press pool and broadcast by cable networks.

Obama followed presidential precedent in choosing Roberts as chief justice to administer the oath of office to him.

The 44th president used a bible from first lady Michelle Obama’s family to swear in for his second term. The first lady held the bible during the ceremony, as the Obamas’ daughters, Sasha and Malia, stood between her and Roberts.

Video: Ted Nugent Says Barack Obama ‘An Evil, Dangerous Man Who Hates America, and Hates Freedom’

In a recent interview with Guns.com,Ted Nugent called out President Obama on his proposed infringements on the Second Amendment, accusing the administration of “attempting to re-implement the tyranny of King George.”

“If you want another Concord bridge, I got some buddies,” Nugent said.

Promoting the National Rifle Association’s Stand and Fight campaign, the iconic rocker discussed many topics, including the NRA, new gun laws in New York, the US Justice system, Piers Morgan, and President Obama.

Clearly, Nugent believes our freedoms are threatened by the latest machinations coming out of Washington D.C.

“Those that would take away the right to keep and bear arms, or infringe upon it in any way, are enemies of freedom,” he said.

See video:

In his opinion, the definition of the right to keep and bear is quite simple. “’Keep’ means it’s mine, you can’t have it. ‘Bear’ means I have some on me right now, and they’re loaded.”

In response to the Newtown, CT shooter being used as a rationale for new gun control measures, Nugent pointed out that 41 different laws had been broken in the course of the massacre. He then asked, “How insane do you have to be to think that the 42nd law would have had any effect on this madman?”

He also addressed the media’s ubiquitous question as to why anyone “needs” an AR-15.

Nugent said, “I don’t need to answer why I need an AR-15.” Speaking of the Bill of Rights, he continued. “It’s not the declaration of needs. It’s not the bill of needs. I don’t need a Corvette to go to the store for milk and bread, but I want two.”

He ended the interview by saying that he is energized and excited by the fact that there is a growing movement of people who celebrate the spirit of the Second Amendment, and warned of a bellicose undercurrent to the push for new gun control measures.

“When a man can dictate to another man an unarmed helplessness, such a dictator is dangerous.”

But he didn’t stop there, further stating that the President is “an evil, dangerous man, who hates America, and hates freedom.”

Republican Governors’ Plan To Eliminate Income Taxes Comes Under Scrutiny

Several Republican governors are proposing an end to their state income taxes in exchange for closing loopholes including mortgage deductions — plans to make their states more competitive in the U.S. economy but already being criticized by Democrats.

Gov. Dave Heineman, Nebraska, and Bobby Jindal, Louisiana, earlier this week proposed eliminating the tax on residents and corporations.

Meanwhile, Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback proposed lower taxes for all residents in exchange for eliminating the tax deduction for interest paid on home mortgages.

Brownback’s mortgage-interest proposal is to help close a budget shortfall and was rejected last year by the state’s General Assembly.

He has been working for at least a year toward ending state income taxes and announced his plan Tuesday as part of his balanced budget proposal for fiscal 2014 and 2015.
