By Martin Gould and Ashley Martella.  The GOP could face a revolt from within its tea party grassroots base if it nominates an establishment candidate without true conservative, anti-big government values, one of America’s leading conservative pundits tells Newsmax.TV in an exclusive interview.

Specifically, columnist and former Republican presidential candidate Pat Buchanan told Newsmax that the nomination of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, the architect of a state insurance plan that many say inspired Obamacare, could prompt the tea party movement to form a third party.

“It’s a real possibility because the tea party folks and the Republican conservatives and social conservatives and others are very apprehensive of Mitt Romney and they don’t feel he is really one of us,” Buchanan told Newsmax.

By Aaron Goldstein (American Spectator):  Notwithstanding the fact that not a single ballot has been cast in any of the Republican primaries, there seems to be a concerted effort by the liberal media to bestow the GOP nomination upon former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney.

According to the Detroit Free Press, “Mitt Romney’s steady-as-she-goes campaign for the presidential nomination is beginning to look inevitable.” The Washington Post tells us that Romney “is suddenly attracting new support from major donors and elected officials… as people across the GOP grow more accepting of the presidential contender as the party’s standard-bearer.” Doyle McManus of the Los Angeles Times declares, “It’s beginning to look as if the former Massachusetts governor will win the nomination almost by default.”

Isn’t it peculiar that Romney is “beginning” to look like the inevitable, Republican nominee at the very moment that Herman Cain is resonating amongst conservatives and surging in the polls? Can the liberal media (and for that matter some GOP donors and elected officials) really be this spooked by Cain? Well, he sure does mess up their “Tea Partiers hate having a black man in the White House” narrative quite nicely. It’s kind of difficult for the liberal media to credibly cast Republicans as racist if they nominate a black man. In fact, casting such aspersions against Tea Partiers would look really, really stupid. Without the Tea Party there would be no Cain surge.

As for Romney, let’s just say he has long way to go before he earns the respect of the Tea Party. At best, Romney is tolerated, as was the case when he received a lukewarm reception at a Tea Party Express rally in New Hampshire last month. At worst, Romney is viewed with outright hostility and suspicion. Back in May, FreedomWorks, a Tea Party umbrella group, stated they were looking to thwart Romney’s path to the GOP nomination. Their communications director Adam Brandon said at the time, “Romney has a record and we don’t really like it that much.” In June, a Tea Party group led by former Alaska GOP Senate candidate Joe Miller launched a “Stop Romney” campaign in New Hampshire. As Miller put it, “We will never get behind Mitt Romney. On issues like gun rights, gay rights, abortion, immigration, and health care, Romney has flipped more than John Kerry flopped.” Earlier this month, another Tea Party organization (this one led by gospel singer Lloyd Marcus) launched its own campaign to “Stop Romney.” Clearly, Romney has his work cut out for him and it’s going to take more than one speech for Tea Party activists to embrace his candidacy.

But this is hardly Romney’s only problem.

By Leila Fadel.  Large caches of weapons from Libya are making their way across the Egyptian border and flooding black markets in Egypt’s already unstable Sinai Peninsula, according to current and former Egyptian military officials and arms traders in the Sinai.

Egyptian security officials have intercepted surface-to-air missiles, most of them shoulder-launched, on the road to Sinai and in the smuggling tunnels connecting Egypt to the Gaza Strip since Moammar Gaddafi fell from power in Libya in August, a military official in Cairo said. Arms traders said the weapons available on Sinai’s clandestine market include rockets and antiaircraft guns.

The seizures raise fresh concerns about security along the sensitive area that borders the Gaza Strip and Israel, at a time when unrest is roiling the region. The addition of shoulder-fired antiaircraft missiles to arsenals of Palestinian fighters in Gaza could add significantly to the threat against Israel, whose helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft frequently patrol the strip, which is controlled by the militant Islamist group Hamas.

“We don’t want to see Egypt as a pathway to smuggle weapons,” said Sameh Seif el-Yazal, a retired Egyptian general in military intelligence who said several surface-to-air missiles have been intercepted on the desert road from Libya to the Egyptian city of Alexandria and north on to Gaza. “We believe some Palestinian groups made a deal with Libyans to get special weapons such as shoulder-fired surface-to-air missiles.”

Concerns about security in the Sinai have been growing in Egypt and among Israeli and American officials, who have called on Egypt to do more to protect the sensitive area, which borders the Gaza Strip and Israel. In the months since Egypt’s January-February revolution, the pipeline that feeds natural gas to Israel has been attacked seven times by militants. A cross-border attack by assailants in August killed eight Israeli civilians and prompted an Israeli counterstrike that killed six Egyptian troops, including three who later died of their wounds

By Elizabeth Harrington.  As part of its 2012 Diversity Visa program, the U.S. State Department is considering 5,662 applicants from countries deemed ‘State Sponsors of Terrorism’ – Iran, Syria, Sudan and Cuba.

In 2011, the State Department awarded 2,427 Diversity Visas to people from Iran, Syria and Sudan.

The annual program randomly awards 50,000 permanent resident visas to people from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States, which include the State Sponsors of Terrorism. The Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) congressionally mandates the Diversity Visa program, which began in 1994.

According to the State Department, 100,021 applicants in total, who were randomly selected, “have been registered and notified and may now make an application for an immigrant visa.”

For 2012, the State Department, along with registrations from people in other countries, selected 4,453 applicants from Iran; 292 from Cuba; 757 from Sudan; and 160 from Syria. (Total: 5,662.)

The U.S. State Department defines state sponsors of terrorism as follows: “Countries determined by the Secretary of State to have repeatedly provided support for acts of international terrorism are designated pursuant to three laws: section 6(j) of the Export Administration Act, section 40 of the Arms Export Control Act, and section 620A of the Foreign Assistance Act. Taken together, the four main categories of sanctions resulting from designation under these authorities include restrictions on U.S. foreign assistance; a ban on defense exports and sales; certain controls over exports of dual use items; and miscellaneous financial and other restrictions. Designation under the above-referenced authorities also implicates other sanctions laws that penalize persons and countries engaging in certain trade with state sponsors.”

By Alex Mason.  A new study released by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) indicates that almost 20% of homosexual men have the AIDS virus. An even more shocking aspect of the new study shows that nearly half of those men are unaware of their infected status.

While the new findings correspond to older research on the topic, this new study is the largest study ever conducted regarding AIDS infections among homosexual men.

According to a calculation by the Kaiser Family Foundation, a pro-homosexual research organization in Washington D.C., less than half of 1 percent of Americans have the AIDS virus. However, according to Kaiser Family Foundation spokeswoman Jennifer Kates, homosexual men continue to be infected at much higher rates.

“We don’t have a generalized epidemic in the United States. We have a concentrated epidemic among certain populations,” Kates said.

This is quite a revealing statement. Of course, what Ms. Kates means is that the AIDS virus is at epidemic proportions among homosexual men. For perspective, imagine if 20% of women had breast cancer and half of them weren’t even aware of their status. Such a statistic would be staggering.

The key difference is that the AIDS virus is totally preventable if individuals abide by biblical sexual ethics.
