And That’s When the Mic Was Taken Away: David Hogg Thought Canadians Could Donate Money to American Political Campaigns

Well, David Hogg (yeah, remember him) is back at it again. This time forgetting whom his audience was at a premiere for Michael Moore’s latest film Fahrenheit 11/9, which deals with the 2016 election. He, along with Cameron Kasky and Emma Gonzalez, formed the Parkland Three, an anti-gun activist wing that was started after the tragic shooting at their high school, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, which left 17 people dead. It placed the National Rifle Association in the crosshairs—again. CNN held a town hall event with the students and surrounding community, which was more of a kangaroo court for liberals to bash gun owners, NRA members conservatives, Republicans, and rural America—pretty much half the country. Since then, other news has taken precedent, but they scored some legislative wins, with Florida increasing the age to purchase firearms to 21. Vermont did the same thing—and both states have pro-NRA governors. It’s also a grossly unconstitutional provision. Other localities in blue America, like Deerfield Illinois and Boulder Colorado, passed ordinances banning so-called assault weapons (i.e. the widely owned and circulated AR-15 rifle).

Well, he wasn’t as effective in Toronto, Canada, where he seemed to forget that he was…in Canada. He told the audience to turn their “shame” into action by voting…in American elections. Oh, and he didn’t know that Canadians couldn’t donate to American political campaigns. That’s illegal, something that even Moore pointed out before taking the microphone away from Hogg. Moore’s film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival this month (via Real Clear Politics):

“I have a question for you guys: Who’s ready to save America? Who’s ready to make America the country we say it is on paper and make it the actual country that it wants to be?,” Hogg asked the Canadian crowd. “I think the most important thing to realize, however, is the problems we face as a country, whether it be water in Flint, Michigan or the amount of mass incarceration of people of color that can’t vote.”

“I think Canadians can donate to political campaigns in the U.S.? They can’t? Well, uhh, vote here. Learn from us, don’t let this happen here. We’ll need to come to you guys if we stay on this track.”

This State’s Residents Support Free Health Care for Illegal Aliens

Recent “man on the street” interviews showed that many Californians support giving illegal immigrants free health care coverage.

The state’s Democrat gubernatorial candidate Gavin Newsom said during an interview last month he is “very proud” that while he was mayor of San Francisco, the city implemented this policy in a cost-effective way.

“[It was] fully implemented, regardless of pre-existing conditions, ability to pay, and regardless of your immigration status,” Newsom said on “Pod Save America.”

“We proved it could be done without bankrupting the city. I’d like to see that extended to the rest of the state,” he said.

A bill introduced in the spring in California’s Assembly would make illegal immigrants eligible for Medi-Cal, the state’s low income health care program, the Sacramento Bee reported.

“There are an estimated 1.8 million undocumented adult immigrants in California who are uninsured. Roughly 1.2 million of them are low-income and thus would qualify for Medi-Cal,” according to the news outlet.

Prager University’s Will Witt interviewed several Californians at Manhattan Beach near Los Angeles to see what they thought.

“I found that most people believe in a utopia,” Witt explained on “Fox & Friends” over the weekend. “We know as more conservative people, utopias don’t exist.”

“This is kind of the trend in California,” he observed “Free universal health care is just free, and it’s just the government paying for it, but they don’t understand it’s a burden on the taxpayers.”

One woman Witt interviewed said, “I don’t see a problem with everyone getting higher income and having more taxes.”

Another two people he spoke with agreed there should be health care for all and that illegal aliens pay as high of taxes as American citizens.

Even a man wearing a shirt with the phrase “Earned Not Given” on it said “I think everyone should get free universal health care.”

“It’s crazy that people think this,” Witt argued. “California already has such a burden on our taxpayers, and this plan is supposed to cost about $400 billion.”

“I mean business owners are fleeing California because of the high taxes,” he said. “This is only another step in the destruction of California.”

Politifact reported that California has the highest top tier income tax rate in the nation at 13.3 percent.

California also has the most costly sales tax in the nation at 7.25 percent.

Additionally, the state’s gas tax is the second highest in the nation, averaging 73 cents per gallon, second only to Pennsylvania at 77 cents, and well above the nation average of 52 cents, according to the Pasadena Star-News.

CNBC reported in March that Californians are leaving the Golden State in large numbers due to the high cost of housing and steep taxes.

According to CNBC during the 12-month period from July 2016 to July 2017, “California saw a net loss of just over 138,000 people, while Texas had a net increase of more than 79,000 people. Watch: High School Cheerleader Beats up Bully After Being Sucker-Punched — With Phone In-Hand

A video of a California high school cheerleader beating up a much larger female bully after being sucker-punched has gone viral.

The teen, the younger sister of YouTube personality Sierra Sprague, tells a girl in a yellow t-shirt multiple times that she does not want their confrontation to turn physical. “Nobody wants to fight, no one wants to fight with you guys,” says the cheerleader, uniform on and bows in her hair. . .

The cheerleader immediately attacks the girl, throwing punches and slamming her much larger attacker to the ground, all with her phone in-hand.

3 Arrested After Politician and His Wife Found Murdered in Home

Three people have been arrested in connection with the murder of the mayor of a tiny North Carolina community and his wife.

The bodies of Leggett Mayor Gary Skelton and his wife, Jackie Skelton, were discovered Thursday after Jackie Skelton did not report to work, WRAL reported.

“We were able to solve this double-homicide in less than eight hours,” Edgecombe County Sheriff Cleveland “Clee” Atkinson said Friday, according to the Charlotte Observer.

The couple had been attacked in their home Wednesday night, WRAL reported, but authorities did not provide details about the attack or their investigation.

Two of the suspects were from Tarboro, a town about 7 miles from Leggett. The third was from Rocky Mount, about 15 miles from the murder scene.

Keith Earl Williams, 25, of Tarboro, was charged with first-degree murder. Williams had been released on parole from state prison on Aug. 28 where he was serving time after April 2017 convictions for possession of a firearm by a felon and assault with a deadly weapon, the Observer reported.

On Friday evening, police announced that Mitchell Brinson, 18, of Tarboro, was also charged with first-degree murder.

The third arrest was announced Saturday. Police charged Dakeithia Nesha Andrews, 30, of Rocky Mount, with conspiring to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, according to the Observer.

“The terror that they had to have felt, going through what they were going through, it’s unimaginable,” said Leggett Town Commissioner Teresa Summerlin told WRAL.

“It is unimaginable what they came home to last night, that’s what sickens me to my core, how they must have felt. It sickens me and they were the epitome of good people, they were awesomely good people.”

“They would have given them the shirt off their back,” Summerlin said, according to WNCN. “For this to happen in this small a community. The work that man has done for this community. People just don’t realize he has invested so many man hours.”

Michael Cloer of Englewood Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, who was the Skeltons’ pastor, said the couple moved to Leggett, population 55, to enjoy the quiet life, WTVD reported.

“They came here because they wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle,” Cloer said. “They bought a big home, remodeled it, they loved to entertain guests, they were just outgoing, friendly, community people.”

He said Skelton enjoyed the community he led.

“All these years I’ve known Gary, he has never mentioned that he was the mayor of any town. That’s not how he is,” Cloer said.

Rep. Maxine Waters Talks About Threatening Trump Supporters ‘All the Time’

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) recently joked about her now-infamous comments to her supporters earlier this year urging them to harass Trump supporters in public. Over the weekend, she joked that she threatens Trump’s constituents and supporters “all the time” but wasn’t doing it “that time.”

“I said, if you see them anywhere, if you see them in a restaurant, if you see them in a department store, even at a gasoline station, just tell them, you’re not welcome here or anywhere,” she said, recapping the controversial remarks she made in June.

“And of course the lying president said that I had threatened all of his constituents. I did not threaten his constituents and supporters. I do that all the time, but I didn’t do that that time,” she quipped to laughs from the crowd at the Stonewall Young Democratic Club awards event.

Waters also noted that she is unfazed by the many Democrats who are discouraging impeachment talk ahead of the midterm elections.

Maxine Waters Vows to ‘Get’ Pence Once Trump Impeached

By Washington Times. Rep. Maxine Waters promised a crowd of young Democrats over the weekend that she would go after Vice President Mike Pence once President Trump is removed from office.

The California congresswoman accepted a lifetime achievement award from the Stonewall Young Democrats on Saturday in Los Angeles, telling the enthusiastic crowd that Mr. Trump threatened Americans’ way of life and deserved to be impeached.

“I’m gonna get him,” Ms. Waters said, according to a video published by progressive activist and attendee Edward Garren. “I’m in this fight and I’m not gonna move.

Watch: D.C. Cop Schools Lefty Protestor Trying to Expel Conservative From Anti-Kavanaugh Rally

Turning Points USA was at an anti-Brett Kavanaugh rally this week. Its founder and leader Charlie Kirk did what he does best: owning liberals. Kavanaugh is a federal judge nominated to fill the vacancy left by the now-retired Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy. It will give conservatives a solid 5-4 majority. It’s because of this that this nomination has garnered significant liberal opposition, with absurd talking points spewed by the Left. You’d think Kavanagh feeds on dead babies with how they’re painting him. In reality, he’s a solid conservative, mainstream, and a SCOTUS nominee with impeccable legal credentials. He’s eminently qualified to be the next jurist on the high court.

Turning Points did a video of Kirk walking around an anti-Kavanaugh rally, which was a sad display of willful ignorance. Kavanaugh has the votes to be confirmed. He will be confirmed when his nomination is voted out of committee—and the liberal hysteria will start all over again, especially with the GOP’s ace blocking of Obama nominee Merrick Garland. Besides Hillary Clinton losing 2016, the SCOTUS fight is another source of sour grapes for these people.

Kirk tries to talk to as many attendees as possible. Being on Fox News, he’s recognized by some, though he’s also not shy to hide his conservatism. Organizers for the rally warned attendees not to talk with him. One organizer tried to boot him from the area, even calling the Capitol Police. When they arrived, they simply told the woman that her right to free speech doesn’t trump his right; Kirk thanks the officer in the video.

Protesters have disrupted the Kavanaugh hearings with their antics; over 70 were arrested on Tuesday alone. They’re delusional. In the video, one speaker suggests their protests are making Kavanaugh mad. Nothing could be further from the truth.

U.S. Mayor Refuses to Cooperate With ICE

By IJR. Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms announced on Thursday that her city would permanently end its cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) requests to detain people. . .

“We will not be complicit in an immigration policy that intentionally inflicts misery on vulnerable populations,” she said, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Bottoms said she would transfer the remaining ICE detainees from her city’s detention center as part of an executive order she signed that day. Only five ICE detainees remained after Bottoms signed an executive order months earlier that blocked new ones from entering her city’s jail.

Assaults on ICE, Border Patrol Surge as Illegal Aliens Get More Violent

By Washington Times. Assaults on ICE agents reached a decade high in 2017, and assaults on Border Patrol agents have also surged in recent years, according to new government numbers that seem to back up agents’ claims that illegal immigrants are increasingly looking to fight rather than flee.

The new numbers, reported by Homeland Security’s inspector general, could even be underselling the problem, investigators said, because the government doesn’t do a good job of tracking incidents, and agents and officers don’t always report them properly.

But the report does signal renewed danger particularly on the southwest border, where agents say a surge in illegal immigration in recent years generally correlates with growing violence.

Prosecutors, meanwhile, often refuse to bring charges or win cases against the perpetrators, the audit found.

At the border, the most frequent method of attack was projectiles — usually large rocks — which accounted for half of assaults. Obama Takes Direct Shot at Trump, Calls Him out by Name Publicly for First Time Since Leaving Office

After taking a few indirect swipes at his successor since leaving office last year, Barack Obama mentioned President Donald Trump by name for the first time in public at an event in Illinois on Friday.

According to The Hill, his address took place at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and focused on the deep division within American politics and society.

He said some of the tension is being caused by frustrated Americans who are “genuinely, if wrongly, fearful of change,” but attributed a more sinister motive to much of the rest of the nation’s socioeconomic tension and resentment.

“More often it’s manufactured by the powerful and the privileged who want to keep us divided and keep us angry and keep us cynical,” he said. “Because it helps them maintain the status quo and keep their power and keep their privilege.”

He told the students gathered for the address that they “happen to be coming of an age during one of those moments.”

In a remark that drew applause from the audience, Obama said that the current administration is “a symptom, not the cause” of that division.

“It did not start with Donald Trump,” he said.

With the radical changes in technology, culture and elsewhere in recent years, Obama said Trump has been able to use the tactics he described in more effective ways.

“He’s just capitalizing on resentments politicians have been fanning for years,” Obama said. “A fear, an anger that’s rooted in our past, but it’s also born out of the enormous upheavals that have taken place in your brief lifetimes.”

He went on to describe some of the changes he believes many Americans have found loath to accept.

“Think about it,” he said. “You’ve come of age in a smaller, more connected world where demographic shifts and the winds of change have scrambled not only traditional economic arrangements, but our social arrangements and our religious commitments and our civic institutions. Most of you don’t remember a time before 9/11 when you didn’t have to take off your shoes at an airport.”

As The Hill reported, Obama’s address Friday was expected to launch a series of campaign stops during which he will rally for Democrat candidates and policies.

“He will make a pointed case in his speech on Friday, and on the trail this fall, that this moment in our country is too perilous for Democratic voters to sit out,” said Obama spokesperson Katie Hill.

She added that the former president will build on previous concerns he has raised since Trump’s inauguration.

Just Blew It: Nike Favorability Drops by Double-Digits

Well, in their infinite wisdom, Nike decided to make former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick the face of their Just Do It campaign. The ad has been released. The tagline is “Believe in something, even if it means sacrificing everything. #JustDoIt.” Kaepernick is a source of controversy, a vehicle for the left wing social justice activism that struck the NFL two years ago when he started to take a knee during the national anthem. There were a multitude of reasons but race relations and police brutality seem to be the top issues for why he and other players started this nonsense. No doubt the cause is worth a discussion. I totally disagree with their take, but it’s worthy of a discussion. All that good will went out the window as soon as you start trashing the flag. Kaepernick’s anti-police stance also drew a backlash. These players see their side getting attention. Everyone else sees them trashing the flag, our veterans, and those who have died in service to the country. It’s unpatriotic. It’s not appropriate—and the NFL knows it. When President Trump torched the players for kneeling, he won a solid cultural victory.

So, with Nike becoming more or less a hipster brand, they put this left wing activist as the face of their new campaign. How did it fare? It cost them billions as market shares tanked upon its announcement. It cost them billions, though it’s not going to sink the company. It did, however, cause the net favorability of Nike to drop by double-digits and no boosts were registered within key demographics for the brand. That’s, uh, not good. Quite a hefty loss for trying to keep Kaepernick relevant Morning Consult has the numbers:

Nike’s Favorability Drops by Double Digits: Before the announcement, Nike had a net +69 favorable impression among consumers; it has now declined 34 points to +35 favorable.

No Boost Among Key Demos: Among younger generations, Nike users, African Americans, and other key demographics, Nike’s favorability declined rather than improved.

Purchasing Consideration Also Down: Before the announcement, 49 percent of Americans said they were absolutely certain or very likely to buy Nike products. That figure is down to 39 percent now.

Senator Thought He Had a Kavanaugh Bombshell. It Was a Total Dud.

Day two of the Brett Kavanaugh hearings were once again riddled with theatrics. Guy will have a more in-depth analysis later, but let’s discuss Sen. Cory Booker’s nonsense stand to release documents supposedly relating to racial profiling that were deemed confidential. He called it his Spartacus moment. Give me a break—it was more 2020 posturing. He didn’t violate a Senate rule by doing this, which comes with the risk of expulsion from the body, though he said he was willing to do so for the sake of the republic. There are not enough eyes to roll on this one. This set off more Democrats whining and complaining about document releases and transparency when, again, everyone knows they’re not going to support this man. They’ve already made up their minds, which is why the Senate GOP shouldn’t entertain their nonsense motions on this front. This clown show over documents lasted nearly an hour (via Fox News):

New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker injected chaos into Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court confirmation hearing Thursday by releasing confidential Kavanaugh emails with the backing of fellow Democrats in possible violation of Senate rules, calling it an act of “civil disobedience” and drawing condemnation from the Republicans on the committee. . .

After announcing plans to do so, Booker released 12 pages of emails — which had been marked “committee confidential” — online for the public to read. The emails included internal post-9/11 discussions surrounding issues of racial profiling.

In the end, it was cleared prior to its release by the Bush team and the committee, so nice acting job there, Cory. Also, the big bombshell in those documents only showed that Brett Kavanaugh is reasonable, mainstream, and against racial profiling after the 9/11 terror attacks. The documents were from his time in the Bush administration, which has become a focal point for Democrats since they know there are scores of documents, immaterial ones, whose review could delay the whole process.
