‘Roseanne’ Reboot Sprang From ABC’s Heartland Strategy After Trump’s Victory

By New York Times. On the morning after the 2016 election, a group of nearly a dozen ABC executives gathered at their Burbank, Calif., headquarters to determine what Donald J. Trump’s victory meant for the network’s future . . .

They began asking themselves which audiences they were not serving well and what they could do to better live up to the company name — the American Broadcasting Company. By the meeting’s end, they had in place the beginnings of a revised strategy that led the network to reboot a past hit centered on a struggling Midwestern family, a show that had a chance to appeal to the voters who had helped put Mr. Trump in the White House.

On Tuesday night, the strategy proved more successful than the executives had hoped: “Roseanne” premiered to the highest ratings for any network sitcom in almost four years. (Read more from “‘Roseanne’ Reboot Sprang From ABC’s Heartland Strategy After Trump’s Victory’ HERE)

Snapchat Photo of Fake Gun Gets Student Suspended, Arrested

By WND. Nowadays a picture is worth a suspension from school.

At least for a Connecticut high school student who posted an image of a toy gun on his social media. On his own time, and away from school.

Cassidento, a senior at Amity High Regional School, immediately was suspended.

And then he was arrested as a juvenile.

It was an image of an “airsoft gun,” on Snapchat, the report said. (Read more from “Snapchat Photo of Fake Gun Gets Student Suspended” HERE)

High School Senior Suspended After Posting Picture of Airsoft Gun on Social Media

By Noelle Gardner. A high school student was suspended and arrested after posting an image of a toy gun on social media.

Zach Cassidento, a high school senior at Amity High Regional School was suspended and arrested as a juvenile after he posted a picture of a toy gun, or what’s called an “airsoft gun,” on Snapchat.

Zach said, “I didn’t want to put any words and someone misinterpret it as a threat so I figured I posted this picture on my own time, on my property.”

The words “have a nice day” with a happy face is part of the gun’s design. The senior told News 8 his hobby is playing with toy guns and he thought posting the picture was harmless.

Zach added, “I took a picture. It was about half way up the barrel of the gun. It showed the trigger. It showed the magazine. And it cut off just by the stock. It also showed the chamber open with no bullet in there and the warning sticker stating that it is a toy gun.” (Read more from “High School Senior Suspended After Posting Picture of Airsoft Gun on Social Media” HERE)

Teacher Who Questioned Student Walkout Reveals Something That’s Gonna Give School District a Headache

In an interview Tuesday with Tucker Carlson, Julianne Benzel, an AP American History teacher in Sacramento who was put on paid leave for raising questions about the student gun control walkout, mentioned a development that is sure to stir things up in the district.

After giving Carlson a summary of the rather stunning sequence of events surrounding her temporary suspension and rapid reinstatement, Benzel revealed that a student had decided to test whether or not the school had a “double standard” when it comes to causes it officially endorses. The student has petitioned the school to allow him and others to walk out to protest abortion.

The student’s decision to organize a pro-life walkout was in part inspired by the very question that triggered administrators to initially put Benzel on paid leave. As Benzel described in an interview with The Daily Wire, in her classes on Thursday and Friday before National Walkout Day, Benzel asked her students to consider if it is wise policy for the school to allow students to walk out for a political cause. By backing a gun control demonstration, does the school now have to back a pro-life demonstration? Benzel asked students to consider the ramifications and encouraged them to discuss the issue with their parents.

Vegans Protesting Against Restaurant Are Horrified at Owner’s Revenge – and There’s Video

By The Blaze. Vegan animal activists were shocked at how a restaurant owner got revenge against them for protesting his business for weeks – and they recorded their own horrified reaction . . .

On Friday, animal rights activists were protesting Antler, a restaurant specializing in “local seasonal and wild foods” including boar, duck and deer. It was their fourth protest targeting the restaurant.

But one of the co-owners turned the tables on them when he whipped out a deer leg and started butchering it on a table in full view of the vegan protesters.

Michael Hunter, who is also a chef, “brought out an entire animal leg and started cutting it up right in the window on a table reserved for diners,” according to the protesters.

“Once the deer was cooked Michael Hunter, owner of Antler, sat back down at the window to eat the dead deer,” said one of the protest organizers, who opined that he was taunting them with his carnivorous ostentatiousness. Toronto Restaurant Shocks Vegans Protesting Meat

By Blogto. At one point, a couple of police officers arrive and go into the restaurant. They are seen speaking to Hunter as he continues to prepare the meat.

After about a minute, Hunter packs up his tools and meat. Both he and the police officers are then seen smiling as they walk away.

“I’m not sure if the police were telling the owner to stop for trying to anger the protestors, or for ethical or health & safety violations,” said Goldberg. “I just think this is very disturbing.”

When asked about the protest, Antler said by email that “our identity as a restaurant is well known throughout the city as is our ethical farming and foraging initiatives.”

“While we would much rather not be the focus of these protests, we are not at all surprised,” said Hunter. (Read more from “Toronto Restaurant Shocks Vegans Protesting Meat” HERE)

A Democrat Just Suggested a Sickening Idea to Steal Guns From Americans

By WND. A Democratic candidate for sheriff in North Carolina is drawing fire after he suggested authorities should kill Americans to confiscate their firearms and then claimed he was joking.

R. Daryl Fisher, a former Asheville police officer who has been in law enforcement since 1985, was speaking at a Moms Demand Action meeting on March 7, 2018, at the West Asheville Library when he made the controversial comments.

Fisher’s campaign posted the following video of his speech on YouTube:

“Any weapon that is designed for use by the military, I think we should ban,” Fisher said. “You’ve heard people say you have to pry my gun from my cold, dead hands? (shrugs) OK.”

The audience laughs and applauds approvingly as Fisher smiles and adds: “Whenever you pass away, we’ll come get it. I dunno. I’m just saying. Joking just a little bit there.” (Read more from “A Democrat Just Suggested a Sickening Idea to Steal Guns From Americans” HERE)

An NC Sheriff Candidate’s Joke Led Thousands to Say He’s Willing to Kill to Take Guns

By News Observer. . . .R. Daryl Fisher is one of eight candidates running for sheriff of Buncombe County in western North Carolina. He’s one of five Democrats seeking to win the party’s nomination in a primary election on May 8.

The belief that he would kill for the sake of gun regulation arose from a “joke” he made during a meeting with voters in Asheville on March 7. Video was being recorded as Fisher answered questions about gun permits and offered suggestions for gun legislation . . .

The Twitter page for The Red Elephants, a conservative news outlet, posted that 30-second edited version of Fisher’s original video with text saying, “Suggests killing people to take their guns… Daryl Fisher candidate for sheriff in Buncombe County…”

The Red Elephants posted the video on Saturday, and by Monday afternoon it had more than 200,000 views and more than 4,000 retweets. (Read more from “An NC Sheriff Candidate’s Joke Led Thousands to Say He’s Willing to Kill to Take Guns” HERE)

Rapper Tells Gun-Grabbers: ‘You’re Not Woke,’ and ‘You’re Going to Progress Us Into Slavery’

By Bizpac Review. . .Rapper Killer Mike stunned Americans with an unabashed pro-Second Amendment interview for NRATV last week in which he called gun control advocates “lack[ies] of the progressive movement,” but ultimately issued an apology and declared support for Saturday’s March For Our Lives rally after receiving backlash.

“We’re raising a generation of kids where everyone gets’ a trophy. But in real life, everyone doesn’t get a trophy,” Killer Mike, real name Michael Render, told NRATV’s Colion Noir. “In real life, the cops don’t come on time.”

The artist said he instructed his children not to participate in the March 14 national school Walkout Day in support of stricter gun laws, telling them “I love you, but if you walk out that school, walk out my house.”

“You can’t continue to be the lackey,” he added. “You’re a lackey of the progressive movement because you have never disagreed with the people who tell you what to do.” (Read more from “Rapper Tells Gun-Grabbers: ‘You’re Not Woke,’ and ‘You’re Going to Progress Us Into Slavery'” HERE)

March for Our Lives: Hollywood Stars Among Thousands to March in Los Angeles in Support of Stricter Gun Controls

By The Independent. Hollywood celebrities lent their presence and political heft to the March for Our Lives gun control movement, and helped to rally Americans in a day of nationwide protest, by both donating large sums of money, as well as by showing up to march, speak and perform.

At Saturday’s march in Los Angeles, comedienne Amy Schumer, a showing of whose film Trainwreck was the scene of a 2015 shooting in a Louisiana theatre, spoke passionately against gun violence and the National Rifle Association (NRA) lobbying group at a gathering said to be 50,000-strong.

“How do they sleep at night? They call people like me ‘Hollywood liberals,’ like there’s something in it for us. Well, what’s in it for us is knowing we’re doing our part to keep our children alive,” she said . . .

The Los Angeles march was attended by droves of young people, many of whom had participated in the national school Walk-Out last week, and who paraded from downtown’s Broadway to City Hall to hear pop star Charlie Puth and Willow Smith, along with teen activists from Marjory Douglas Stoneman High in Florida, and LA’s Democratic Mayor Eric Garcetti, who is rumoured to be considering a run for the US presidency in 2020 . . .

Former First Lady of California Maria Shriver, ex-wife of actor and former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, also marched, and told The Independent she thought the experience was “energising”. Though there have been anti-gun protests before, she said, “it feels different this time”. Beer Brand Attacked After Posting This ‘Racist Ad’

. . .Heineken experienced a social-media backlash that accused an ad for its light beer as being racist because it said “lighter is better” and the complexions of the people in the clip.

In the clip, a bartender slides a Heineken Light to a woman standing some distance away. Some users noted that the bartender and the woman are both fair-complexioned while two of the three people the bottle passes are black and the other dark-skinned. The slogan “sometimes lighter is better” appears on the screen.

Heineken quickly knuckled under.

“For decades, Heineken has developed diverse marketing that shows there’s more that unites us than divides us,” a company spokesperson told Fox News. “While we feel the ad is referencing our Heineken Light beer, we missed the mark, are taking the feedback to heart and will use this to influence future campaigns.” (Read more from “Beer Brand Attacked After Posting This ‘Racist Ad'” HERE)

WATCH: Actors Read Gun Control Facts That Don’t Fit Liberal Agenda. Their Reactions Are Priceless.

Austen Fletcher, a YouTuber known for his “man on the street” videos, released a new video on Friday showing actors cold reading firearm facts don’t fit the liberal agenda. . .

How did the actors react to the facts?

“I just kind of blindly chose a side on the whole issue without really thinking about facts,” one of the actors admitted after the reading.

“It’s interesting to actually take the time and see what the facts say as opposed to what I personally feel,” that actor added.

“I mean, I’m gonna be honest. For me, I don’t really, like, go to the main news sources ‘cause a lot of it’s always, like, pushed by an agenda, you know what I mean? So, to get the real facts, you always have to do more research,” another [actor] said. (Read more from “WATCH: Actors Read Gun Control Facts That Don’t Fit Liberal Agenda. Bill Maher Repeats ‘Lie’ About Dana Loesch’s Past — Then Loesch Fires Back With the Truth

. . .Maher took aim at conservatives from Hollywood or those associated with Hollywood, such as Scott Baio, James Woods, Pat Sajak, President Donald Trump, among others. He also mocked Stacey Dash and Trump’s inauguration last year for having the band “3 Doors Down” perform while former President Barack Obama had superstars, such as Beyoncé and Stevie Wonder, perform at his . . .

“What you may not know about Dana Loesch is that before her job as NRA spokesmodel, she was a show business wannabe, a homemaker in St. Louis with a mommy-blog and a radio show and dreams of TV stardom,” Maher said.

He then regurgitated a claim from “NCIS” producer Paul Guyot, who alleged last month that Loesch once pitched him the idea for a show about “a hot young mom who does far right radio show.” According to Guyot, Loesch made the pitch 10 years ago and he turned her down . . .

How did Loesch respond?

When #MarchForOurLives Protesters Are Asked What an ‘Assault Weapon’ Actually Is, They Have No Idea

During Saturday’s #MarchForOurLives in Washington D.C., Campus Reform’s Cabot Phillips spoke with a number of protesters and asked them two simple questions.

First, Phillips asked what kind of policy changes need to be made. Nearly all of the protesters said legislators needs to enact a ban on “assault weapons.” But when he followed that up by asking what an assault weapon was, things got interesting.

Here are some of the best answers:

“Yeah, it’s um, assault weapon. It’s like, um — I kind of do, but kind of don’t.”

“No, I guess. But assault weapons, like, does that sound safe to you?”
