When asked what advice he had for young black men, Dallas Police Chief David Brown said, “we’re hiring.”
He then called on young men to “get off the protest line and put in an application.” Adding that they should “become a part of the solution, and serve their communities.”

After months of speculation, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has just confirmed he is being vetted to be Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s vice president.
The news may be a welcome sign for many who respect the conservative icon and see Trump as needing a Washington veteran to help navigate through the world of politics.
Gingrich, who is best known for writing the “Contract with America,” a conservative congressional agenda put forward in 1994, confirmed the reports while a guest on The Sean Hannity Show. According to Hannity, Trump and Gingrich will be hitting the campaign trail in the next few days.
Hannity led with a brief discussion of a Drudge Report poll indicating the American people most wanted Gingrich to be selected as the vice president.
“Do you know if there’s any vetting going on?” Hannity asked. Gingrich responded, “Well, I certainly hope so!” which drew laughs from the talk show host.
Hannity then directed a more pointed question at the former House speaker: “Are you being vetted?”
“I think they’ve been very clear all along that I’m one of the four or five people that they’re vetting,” Gingrich said.
Hannity pressed Gingrich to reveal when Trump will announce his running mate.
“When do you think that decision will be made?” he asked. “Will it be made at the convention? Will he hold the suspense?”
Gingrich indicated he was speculating when he said, “First of all I have no idea. … My guess is that they’ll do it either Thursday or Friday [before the GOP convention] so that it dominates the weekend news going into the convention.” (For more from the author of “Newt Gingrich Makes Announcement That Many Have Been Awaiting” please click HERE)

While details are still unfolding regarding Thursday night’s horrific attack on Dallas law enforcement, Lynn Mays explains how a heroic officer saved his life while his own life was under attack.
After rapid fire shots went off, Mays recalls, “One police officer that was standing there pushed me out of the way because it was coming our direction … next thing you know we hear ‘officer down.'”

The ambush left five Dallas police officers dead and seven injured, becoming the deadliest single incident for U.S. law enforcement since September 11, 2001, according to CNN.
A suspect who died after a shootout with police also reportedly said he wanted to kill white people — especially white police officers — in response to the recent police shootings in Minnesota and Louisiana.
Two of the attackers were snipers who fired “ambush-style” from high up in a building, according to local authorities . . .
The ambush happened as peaceful protests were taking place in Dallas and was likely planned in advance to some degree. (For more from the author of “WATCH: A Police Officer Saved This Man’s Life During Dallas Ambush” please click HERE)

Hannah Cohen, 19, and her family are suing the TSA after a head injury suffered as the result of a TSA officer tackling her onto the floor. Hannah is a St. Jude’s cancer patient, who is partially deaf and blind in one eye. She is a patient at St. Jude’s, in treatment for a brain tumor discovered 17 years ago.
The horrible incident occurred as she was on a trip home to Chattanooga with her mom Sarah Cohen, after a series of treatments for the tumor at St. Jude’s Hospital.
The family has made the trip for 17 years since the tumor was discovered, and have never experienced any troubles at the airport. This time however, as Hannah and her mom were progressing through a TSA checkpoint at Memphis International Airport, she set off the metal detector.
Hannah, young and in a disabled state, was understandably confused by the TSA agents who suddenly approached her. She tried to avoid them, and moved away confused by the sudden approach of the officers.
Prior to approaching Hannah, the TSA agents told her mother they wanted to do additional screening after the alarms went off.
What was originally intended to be “additional screening” turned into a physical and bloody scuffle.
As Hannah tried to escape what she perceived to be a threat, one of the agents tackled her to the ground, ramming her head into the floor in the process.
“She’s trying to get away from them but in the next instant, one of them had her down on the ground and hit her head on the floor. There was blood everywhere,” recalled her mother.
During the incident, her mother tried to tell the officers multiple times that Hannah had various medical issues and that she was just confused, but was forced back as the agents took her daughter away in handcuffs.
After the misunderstanding-turned-spectacle subsided, Hannah was arrested and booked in the airport’s jail, apart from her mother.
The Cohen family unexpectedly spent the night in the airport, with Hannah isolated, and no access to their luggage.
“Here we were with nowhere to go, not even a toothbrush, our bags had gone to Chattanooga,” Hannah’s mom recounted.
The charges were later thrown out by authorities and Hannah was finally released.
“She’s 19 but she’ll always be my baby. We’ve been through so much.”
The TSA would not comment directly to the incident, but released a statement in the aftermath saying, “Passengers can call ahead of time to learn more about the screening process for their particular needs or medical situation.”
Upset with how things were handled, the Cohen family is planning to bring a lawsuit against the Memphis Airport, Airport Police and the TSA for negligent conduct and injuries suffered by Hannah. The wife of one of the men killed during the attacks in Benghazi, Libya, rebuked Hillary Clinton on Thursday for encouraging the country to “move on” four years after the violence.
Dorothy Woods, the widow of Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods, told CNN’s Erin Burnett in her first interview since the attacks that she found Clinton’s comments to be in sync with other “dismissive” remarks from critics of the Benghazi investigation. The probe has been slammed by Democrats as partisan and more focused on harming Clinton than on finding out the truth about the September 11, 2012, attack.
“Nobody in government can tell me how I feel, what I should feel about it,” Woods said. “She has no right — nor does anyone in government have the right — to tell me it’s time to move on. They’re not in my shoes.” (Read more from “Benghazi Widow Rebukes Clinton for Telling Country to ‘Move On'” please click HERE)

Brexit architect and UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage was enjoying the spotlight at European Parliament Tuesday, as a he told a jeering crowd that he now has had the last laugh. Farage took the moment to preach the benefits of free trade, and to warn the EU of the cost of cutting off trade partnerships with the UK.
“We – between your countries and my country – do an enormous amount of business in goods and services. That trade is mutually beneficial to both of us. That trade matters.”
“If you were to decide to cut off your noses, to spite your faces, and to reject any idea of a sensible trade deal, the consequences would be far worse for you than it would be for us,” Farage told a scoffing crowd of MEPs.
Farage prefaced his argument by getting a rise out of the Parliament: “Now I know that virtually none of you have ever done a proper job in your lives, or worked in business, or worked in trade, or indeed created a job … but let us listen to some simple pragmatic economics.”
Earlier in the floor speech Farage jovially reflected: “Isn’t it funny? You know, when I came here 17 years ago and I said I wanted to lead a campaign to get Britain to leave the EU, you all laughed at me … but I have to say, you’re not laughing now.”
The key question at hand now, according to the Associated Press, is when UK Prime Minister David Cameron will invoke article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty to trigger exit negotiations. In light of this, Farage called for sensibility in the exit proceedings. (For more from the author of “WATCH: Brexit Architect Gives SCATHING Free Trade Defense Speech at EU” please click HERE)
On ABC’s This Week Sunday, host George Stephanopoulos asked Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell whether Republican candidate Donald Trump is qualified to be president of the United States.
“Well look, I think there’s no question that he’s made a number of mistakes over the last few weeks,” McConnell said. “I think they’re beginning to right the ship. It’s a long time until November, and the burden obviously will be on him to convince people that he can handle this job.”
Stephanopoulous, who was communications director for President Bill Clinton, the husband of Trump’s Democratic opponent, pressed the senator about the issue, saying, “I didn’t hear you say whether you thought he was qualified.”
McConnell answered, “Look, that’ll be up to the American people to decide.”
“You know, he won the Republican nomination fair and square. He got more votes than anybody else against a whole lot of well-qualified candidates,” he said. “And so our primary voters have made their decision as to who they want to be the nominee.”
In a recent Washington Post/ABC News poll, 64 percent of the respondents said they didn’t think Trump was qualified to be president.
“I think a good step in the right direction was the changes he made in the campaign,” McConnell said. “He’s beginning to use a prepared script more often, which I think is absolutely appropriate for any candidate, whether you’re a longtime politician like Hillary Clinton or whether you’re new to the game like Donald Trump.”
The Trump campaign is working to raise money in order to compete with Democratic rival Clinton, who has a much larger war chest. McConnell’s closing statements acknowledged that Trump would not be able to win if he was unable to raise more money.
“He needs to be able to compete financially,” the majority leader said. “Where the money comes from, whether it comes out of his own pocket or from others, it doesn’t really make all that much difference. But he’s going to have to have way more than he has now in order to run the kind of campaign he needs to win.” (For more from the author of “Mitch McConnell Faces One Question on Trump That He Won’t Answer” please click HERE)

Earlier this year, Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, a Democrat, issued an executive order to restore voting rights to felons who have completed their prison sentences.
McAuliffe’s action is being challenged in lawsuits from Judicial Watch and Republican leaders of Virginia’s House and Senate. They say McAuliffe violated the state constitution and exceeded his authority by restoring voting rights to 206,000 released felons all at once, rather than individually through an application process.
We take a look at the debate and explain what’s at stake. So what do you think? Leave a comment below. (For more from the author of “Should Released Felons Have Their Voting Rights Restored?” please click HERE)

One of the first witnesses interviewed after the shooting in Orlando Sunday said he and another witness held closed a small exit door in an apparent attempt to prevent the shooter from following their group into an alleyway.
Luis Burbano, an actor based in Orlando, explained the scene of the crime in two interviews with Fox News Channel and ABC News. Burbano said he was in the club while the shooting was ongoing for “no more than a minute, minute and a half.”
Burbano claimed he and a group of around 20 people were able to escape through a small side alley for employees just outside the main building. As the sounds of gunshots began to get closer and closer, Burbano and another witness held closed a small door. Burbano said the entire group was “crammed” in the alley while trying to escape through a hole in a fence.
“We went to this alleyway which led for only employees and … me and this random guy tried blocking the door, cause at that point, like I said, the bullets were getting louder and closer so we blocked this door,” Burbano told ABC News.
“And we did hear banging, and I pray it wasn’t anyone trying to escape, because I would forever feel guilty, but at that point there was about 20 people in front of us crammed in this little alleyway with a big hole in one of the fences and just trying to topple over, just trying to … escape, just run.” (Read more from “Orlando Shooting Witness Explains Why He Held Club’s Door Shut During Escape” HERE)

FBI Director James Comey has warned Democrats that their plans to ban individuals on terrorist watch lists from purchasing firearms threatens to damage FBI terror investigations.
Congressional Quarterly (Paywall) reports that a spokeswoman for the FBI said that “Comey does not take a position on the proposed gun amendment but … has told lawmakers he is focused on the operational side and the FBI does not endorse legislation.”
During a 2015 Senate Appropriations subcommittee hearing, Director Comey said that stopping the sales of firearms could “blow our investigation”
“Well, senator, what we do now is if someone on the watch list purchases or attempts to purchase a firearm, an immediate alert is sent to the agents who are the source of the suspicion about that individual, so they can incorporate that information into their investigation,” Comey said.
“It’s a little bit challenging for us because known or suspected means it hasn’t been adjudicated in every case that somebody is a terrorist,” Comey said. “It’s somebody we’re investigating, so we don’t want to, obviously, blow our investigation. Sorry.”
Here’s video of the testimony:
