IRS Knew Tea Party Was Being Targeted In 2011: Report (+video)

Senior Internal Revenue Service officials knew agents were targeting tea party groups as early as 2011, according to a draft of an inspector general’s report obtained by The Associated Press that seemingly contradicts public statements by the IRS commissioner.

The IRS apologized Friday for what it acknowledged was “inappropriate” targeting of conservative political groups during the 2012 election to see if they were violating their tax-exempt status. The agency blamed low-level employees, saying no high-level officials were aware.

But on June 29, 2011, Lois G. Lerner, who heads the IRS division that oversees tax-exempt organizations, learned at a meeting that groups were being targeted, according to the watchdog’s report. At the meeting, she was told that groups with “Tea Party,” `’Patriot” or “9/12 Project” in their names were being flagged for additional and often burdensome scrutiny, the report says.

The 9/12 Project is a group started by conservative TV personality Glenn Beck. In a statement to the AP, Beck suggested that the revelations were hardly news to him and other conservatives.

“In February 2012, TheBlaze first reported what the IRS now admits to – that they unfairly targeted conservative groups including the 9/12 project,” Beck said, citing his website and TV network. “It is nice to see everyone else playing catch-up and finally asking the same questions that TheBlaze started raising over a year ago.”

Koch Sponsors Pro-Amnesty Buzzfeed Event (+video)

Photo Credit: BreitbartAn event touting itself as an evening of immigration reform discussion with a “diversity of opinion” turns out to be slanted heavily towards “comprehensive immigration reform.” The BuzzFeed Brews Special Edition: Immigration Summit, sponsored by the Charles Koch Institute, will take place Tuesday, May 14th from 6 PM – 8 PM Eastern Time. The Charles Koch Institute is an educational offshoot of the Charles Koch Foundation.

It’s an unusual pairing: BuzzFeed Editor-in-Chief Ben Smith has a reputation for liberal bias (he recently blamed “the right” for conditions of Kermit Gosnell’s abortion clinic) will be the moderator; Charles Koch, founder of the libertarian CATO Institute, is one of the people most reviled by the left.

The goal of the event is described as follows:

[W]e believe one of the best ways to turn conversations into solutions is through the challenge of assumptions and exchange of ideas. Our event on immigration aims to do just that by bringing together a diversity of opinions for a thoughtful dialogue.

At first glance, the panel appears diverse: the six invitees include a Democrat politician, a Republican politician, two members of conservative organizations, one from a liberal Hispanic/Latino organization, and one from a libertarian think tank.

Obama Celebrates Mother’s Day With Free Birth Control (+video)

Obama celebrates Mother’s Day by promoting the federal government’s policy of providing free contraception. Here’s the tweet sent out by the White House:

Of course, no DC observers should be surprised at this. During his Mexican press conference last week, Obama made it clear that he was OK with girls as young as 15 years of age having sex and using the infamous Plan B:

Kidnap Victim’s Mother Says She’d Hug Ariel Castro, Say ‘God Bless You’ (+video)

Photo Credit: ABC NewsThe mother of Gina DeJesus, whom Ariel Castro allegedly abducted and kept as a sex slave in his Cleveland home for a decade, had a surprising answer when asked what she would say to Castro.

“I would hug him and I would say, ‘God bless you.’ I would say, ‘God bless you,’ and I’d hug him. I did not hate him. I forgave him years ago. I said it: I forgive whoever done it, just let her go,” Nancy Ruiz told “20/20” anchor David Muir in an exclusive interview Thursday.

“Because you know what?” Ruiz added. “When you start to hate a person, that eats you up. I don’t have time for that. I have to be, you know, I want to be happy, like I am now.”

Ariel Castro’s cousin, Maria Castro Montes, had a different answer when Muir asked her the same question.

“I wouldn’t be able to look at him. I couldn’t say anything to him. Why? Shame on you? How could you do this? I don’t even want to ask him those questions. I don’t even want to look at him,” Montes said in an exclusive interview Thursday.

The Benghazi Scandal Grows (+video)

Photo Credit: Andrew Harnick CIA director David Petraeus was surprised when he read the freshly rewritten talking points an aide had emailed him in the early afternoon of Saturday, September 15. One day earlier, analysts with the CIA’s Office of Terrorism Analysis had drafted a set of unclassified talking points policymakers could use to discuss the attacks in Benghazi, Libya. But this new version—produced with input from senior Obama administration policymakers—was a shadow of the original.

The original CIA talking points had been blunt: The assault on U.S. facilities in Benghazi was a terrorist attack conducted by a large group of Islamic extremists, including some with ties to al Qaeda.

These were strong claims. The CIA usually qualifies its assessments, providing policymakers a sense of whether the conclusions of its analysis are offered with “high confidence,” “moderate confidence,” or “low confidence.” That first draft signaled confidence, even certainty: “We do know that Islamic extremists with ties to al Qaeda participated in the attack.”

There was good reason for this conviction. Within 24 hours of the attack, the U.S. government had intercepted communications between two al Qaeda-linked terrorists discussing the attacks in Benghazi. One of the jihadists, a member of Ansar al Sharia, reported to the other that he had participated in the assault on the U.S. diplomatic post. Solid evidence. And there was more. Later that same day, the CIA station chief in Libya had sent a memo back to Washington, reporting that eyewitnesses to the attack said the participants were known jihadists, with ties to al Qaeda.

Before circulating the talking points to administration policymakers in the early evening of Friday, September 14, CIA officials changed “Islamic extremists with ties to al Qaeda” to simply “Islamic extremists.” But elsewhere, they added new contextual references to radical Islamists. They noted that initial press reports pointed to Ansar al Sharia involvement and added a bullet point highlighting the fact that the agency had warned about another potential attack on U.S. diplomatic facilities in the region. “On 10 September we warned of social media reports calling for a demonstration in front of the [Cairo] Embassy and that jihadists were threatening to break into the Embassy.” All told, the draft of the CIA talking points that was sent to top Obama administration officials that Friday evening included more than a half-dozen references to the enemy—al Qaeda, Ansar al Sharia, jihadists, Islamic extremists, and so on.

City of Dearborn Settles Case With Christian Protesters Who Were Threatened by Cops After Being Attacked by Muslims (+video)

Just this past week, the City agreed to enter into a settlement, which includes a public apology that will be posted on the City’s website for three years; the removal from the City’s website of a press release and letter from the mayor that contained derogatory comments about the Christians; and a payment to the Christians, the amount of which is confidential. The legal claims against the Arab Chamber defendants will proceed.

The City’s public apology states as follows:

On June 18, 2010, David Wood, Nabeel Qureshi (co-founders of Acts 17 Apologetics) and Paul Rezkalla were arrested by Dearborn police officers at the Dearborn Arab International Festival (“Arab Festival”), while they were engaging in a peaceful dialogue about their Christian faith with several festival attendees. Wood, Qureshi, and Rezkalla were subsequently charged with breach of peace, a misdemeanor offense.

The decision to arrest these individuals was based in part on information provided to the Dearborn police by Arab Festival attendees, workers, and volunteers. When all of the information—including the video captured by Wood, Qureshi, and Rezkalla—was presented to a Dearborn jury, the jury found that these individuals were not guilty of the criminal offense of breach of peace.

The City of Dearborn regrets and apologizes for the decisions to arrest and prosecute David Wood, Nabeel Qureshi, and Paul Rezkalla and the hardship caused to everyone involved.

Through this apology and its acceptance by David Wood, Nabeel Qureshi, and Paul Rezkalla, the parties seek to build a bridge and to confirm to the community that members of all faiths are welcome in Dearborn to peacefully share their views and to engage in religious discussions.

Seventy Year Old Fights Off Home Invader With His Bare Hands (+video)

Photo Credit: Cristiano BettaSeventy-year-old Michael Salame has eight heart stents, nerve damage and apparently quite a right hook, as an alleged home invader found out.

It was about 3 a.m. Saturday when Salame was at home with his girlfriend and heard something outside…

“I went to the other side of the house to call the police department and didn’t want to spook him so I didn’t turn any lights on,” Salame said. “I turned around and there he was, he was inside my house.”

Salame said he was in no mood for visitors.

“He came in and that’s when I grabbed him by the throat and slammed him down on the floor and told him to stay on the floor and not to put his hands in his pockets. I didn’t know if he had a knife or a gun on him,” Salame said.

Seal Team 6 Press Conference: Obama at Fault, Muslim Cleric Prayed at Funeral, Damned Them to Hell (+videos)

The SEAL Team 6 families held an extraordinary press conference today, laying blame directly at the feet of the Obama administration for the service members’ deaths in 2011.

Larry Klayman, the attorney representing the Seal Team 6 families, stated that the dead SEALs were “victims of our political establishment who would rather protect radical Islamists than our own people.”

By way of background, the identity of Osama bin Laden’s killers, Seal Team 6, was classified but Obama and Biden publicized who they were, effectively painting a target on their backs.

They then went into battle with an inadequate helicopter, an inadequate pilot, and pathetic rules of engagement that generally required the soldiers to be fired on before firing back.

To add insult to injury, at their funeral, the Department of Defense had a Muslim cleric offer a prayer that apparently damned the heroic soldiers to hell as infidels, desecrating their memory.

What follows is a full, thirty minute video of the press conference. Included in it is an interview with General Jerry Boykin as well as an interview with Representative Gohmert.

If you don’t have time to watch the full video (not professionally edited, but worth the time to watch it), please take the time to review the short news clip below it.

Here’s the news clip of the press conference:

According to the Washington Times, a Pentagon spokesman responded to the press conference with this statement:

“First, I want to say that we share in the grief of all of the families who lost their loved ones. The loss of 38 U.S. and Afghan military personnel was a tragic loss during a difficult campaign. The 30 U.S. casualties represent the diversity and talent of America and its military; these warriors served in three services (Army, Navy, and Air Force), in special operations and conventional units, and represented Reserve and active-duty units from 20 states.”

Rush Limbaugh Says Obama Has Gotten Away With Benghazi (+video)

On Rush Limbaugh’s program Thursday, he shocked listeners with his take on Benghazi:

“Those of you who listen to this program know exactly what happened in Benghazi, and you know exactly why the White House didn’t want anyone to know about it,” Limbaugh said. “There’s just one remaining question that I have been asking for weeks; no, I’ve been asking this question for months. Where was Obama during all of it? That’s the one thing that nobody knows. Where was Obama when four Americans were under assault and ultimately being killed? And there doesn’t seem to be any curiosity inside official Washington.”

He also said that the media has already dismissed the news as nothing more than a “political effort,” despite widespread coverage in the top newspapers.

“The media is treating it today as a non-event or as a Republican political effort to embarrass our delightful president and our future president, Hillary Clinton,” he said.

Perhaps one of the more surprising elements of Limbaugh’s analysis was his suggestion that the Obama administration has gotten away with a cover-up.

Former Commander of Pacific Fleet: Obama’s Dereliction of Duty is Un-American (+video)

Photo Credit: YouTubeThe former commander of the Pacific Fleet, Admiral James Lyon, Jr., slammed Obama’s dereliction of duty as “un-American” and also characterized his ROE’s (rules of engagement) as nonsense.

Admiral Lyon then went on to examine the Islamic threat to the US. He cites the latest Pew Survey of Muslim countries reflecting that most of their residents want Islamic law, not “freedom and democracy.”

He then states that, even in America, “more than 80% of the mosques preach hatred of Jews and Christian and promote jihad.”

The admiral also talks about the Islamists’ penetration of our government. He states that this has led to the Muslim Brotherhood actually having input into our troops restricted rules of engagement.

Finally, Admiral Lyon asserts that the current CIA Director, John Brennan, is “a convert to Islam, which never seems to get discussed”:
