Video: NRA Cites Obama Justice Dept. Memo Stating Registration, Gun Confiscation Necessary

Photo Credit: Getty Images According to a short video produced by the NRA, a Justice Department memo says that an assault weapon ban would not be effective without mandatory gun confiscation and that universal background checks would only work with federal gun registration, Jim Hoft reported at the Gateway Pundit on Monday, citing a blog post at Guns Saves Lives.

“Make no mistake,” the blog post said, “an assault weapons ban of any kind, even with a grandfathering clause is a step towards gun confiscation.”

The post also says that universal background checks are “just the first step” in implementing federal gun registration, which will ultimately lead to confiscation.

Democrats in at least two states — Missouri and Minnesota — have already proposed legislation that if passed into law, would require law-abiding gun owners to surrender rifles, shotguns and pistols deemed to be “assault weapons.” A proposal being considered in Washington State would require local sheriffs to inspect the homes of those with “assault weapons” to ensure they are secure.

Advocates of gun control say they do not want to take guns away from hunters and sport shooters, but another post at Guns Save Lives provides quotes from prominent Democrats advocating confiscation of guns from law-abiding citizens.

Video: John McCain Alleges ‘Massive Cover-Up’ on Benghazi, Asks David Gregory – ‘Do You Care Whether Four Americans Died?’

The extent to which GOP lawmakers are ridiculed by the MSM for trying to get to the bottom of Benghazi is unbelievable. If you missed Sen. McCain on Meet the Press today with David Gregory, it’s well worth watching now.

After explaining to Gregory that there are still a number of unanswered questions regarding Benghazi, McCain concludes by saying there’ s been a massive cover-up. Gregory is confused: “A massive cover-up of what?”

The crux of the interview, however, came when McCain asked Gregory whether he even cared that four Americans died (transcript via NewsBusters):

Video: Frank Luntz’ Focus Group Lauds Ben Carson’s Speech – ‘It’s Not American To Bite Your Tongue’ (+video)

Photo Credit: Getty Images Dr. Benjamin Carson, the pediatric neurosurgeon who attacked political correctness and staked out positions opposite the White House on debt, taxes and health care in a speech in front of President Barack Obama, was a hit with pollster Frank Luntz’s focus group Friday night.

During “Hannity” on Fox News, participants said Carson’s provocative speech at the National Prayer Breakfast last week spoke to them because he seemed “just like me — he was just a regular ordinary person.”

“It’s not American to bite your tongue,” another participant said.

Carson, who told TheBlaze that Obama thanked him for his words, has been asked repeatedly whether his headline-grabbing address might mean a run for political office.

Video: ICE Agent Blows Whistle in Congressional Testimony, Criminal Illegal Aliens Not Being Deported

Chris Crane, president of the National Immigration and Customs Enforcement Council 118, made a number of stunning revelations during his testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday — and he’s begging Congress for help. The ICE union boss argued that agents are no longer allowed to arrest illegal aliens solely for illegal entry or expired visas and morale is at an all-time low.

Most Americans would be shocked to find out that immigration agents are regularly “prohibited from enforcing the two most fundamental sections of United States immigration law,” he said. Instead, the administration has ordered that only illegals charged or convicted of “very serious criminal offenses” may be arrested or charged by ICE agents and officers.

“In fact, under current policy individuals legally in the United States must now be convicted of 3 or more criminal misdemeanors before ICE agents are permitted to charge or arrest the illegal alien for illegal entry or overstaying a visa,” he added. That is unless the misdemeanors involve assault, sexual abuse or drug trafficking.

Even more shocking, Crane said ICE agents or officers who witness a violation of immigration law are prohibited from making arrests and even from asking questions “under the threat of disciplinary action.”

Citing a recent morale survey disseminated throughout federal agencies, Crane said ICE ranks 279 out of 291 in employee morale and job satisfaction. He has previously asked the Obama administration to help address the plummeting morale and dissatisfaction among ICE agents.

Video: Massacre Survivor Tells Senate ‘I’m Not A Victim Of Guns, But Of Lawmakers Who Legislated Me Out Of The Right To Protect Myself And My Family’

Photo Credit: Getty ImagesDr. Suzanna Hupp became a case study in gun control after testifying in front of Congress as a survivor of the 1991 “Luby” massacre in Texas where both of her parents were killed. On Monday, more than a decade later, she spoke once more on the issue, examining it through the lens of the debate currently gripping the nation.

During her first appearance, Hupp explained how a friend had given her a gun when she was 21 and, though she doesn’t like guns or hunting, she agreed to get some training and carry it in her purse.

Not long after, a man crashed his car into a restaurant where she was eating with her family and started shooting people.

“It took me a good 45 seconds to realize that this man wasn’t there to commit a robbery,” she said. “He was there to simply shoot as many people as he possibly could.”

“When I finally realized what was occurring, I thought, ‘I got him,” she said, snapping her hand. “And I reached for my purse. He was maybe 12 feet away…But then I realized a couple of months earlier, I had made the stupidest decision of my life. I took my gun out of my purse and left it in my car, because as you well know in the state of Texas, it’s sometimes a felony offense to carry a gun in your purse.”

Video: CNN Panel- Dorner’s Alleged Murder Spree ‘Exciting,’ Like ‘Denzel Washington Movie’

Panelists MC Lyte, Jack Moore, Editor of BuzzFeed Sports, Lauren Ashburn, Editor-in-chief at The Daily Download, and Mark Lamont Hill joined Brooke Baldwin on CNN today to talk about the social media support for alleged quadruple killer Christopher Dorner.

Ashburn was the only one on the panel who had a problem with the alleged cop killer being celebrated, saying that he crossed a line when he began killing people to get his revenge for his alleged grievences.

The rest of the panel concluded that Dorner “had a point” and that the unfolding story was theatric. Hill said that the saga was “exciting,” “like ‘Django Unchained’ in real life,” and Dorner was similar to a “super hero.”

The fact that a major media outlet could even pose such a question does more to expose the utter vacuous nature of the modern world than anything.

The lines have been blurred between make-believe and reality to such an extent that petulant children in the press demand showbiz at it’s best, while completely ignoring substantive public discourse.

No wonder the media cheerleads a “leader of the free world” whose persona can be summed up by a teleprompter and fist bump.

Serious public discourse, and a real record of accomplishment be damned. Lies, incompetency, and scandal. Never mind. He’s “cool” (whatever that means), and he can read a teleprompter like no other.

Meanwhile, the middle class guy who believes in free markets and seeks to engage in adult conversation is finished. And what did him in? “Watergate,” of course. The guy had an awkward moment on TV, and gasp, took a drink of water in the middle of his speech. So unpresidential!

Are China And Japan Moving Closer To War? Japan Proposes Military Hotline With China (+video)

Local residents took these pictures between February 3 to February 6. At times, the line of tanks and artillery blocked traffic for several miles. And it wasn’t just in Fujian province.

These military vehicles were spotted further up the coast, in neighboring Zhejiang province. According to dissident website, molihua.org, these tanks in Hubei province are being transported from a military base to the coast. The troop movements come after months of escalating tensions between China and Japan over the disputed territory of the Diaoyun, or Senkaku islands and they’re known in Japan. It’s caused international worries that the two countries may be on the cusp of war.

Both sides have scrambled jets and warships in the region. In January, during naval exercise near the disputed waters, Chinese warships reportedly directed their targeting radar at a Japanese vessel. On February 7, State-run Global Times published this article saying there is a “serious possibility” a military conflict may flare up between China and Japan. It continues to say that fewer and fewer people are hopeful for a peaceful resolution to the Diaoyu Island crisis. Are we in a countdown to war between China and Japan? In a State of the Union response sponsored by the Tea Party Express, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul spoke of competing visions of economics: Robin Hood vs. Adam Smith.

Senator Paul insisted that the road ahead is the proven road mapped out for us by Adam Smith.

In telling personal fashion, he described Washington as being worse than he ever imagined, insisting that the spending problem in Congress must be addressed. He also said that Americans should impose term limits on politicians who refuse to rein in wasteful spending.
