Trump Slams Mexico With 5% Tariff to Stop Illegal Alien Crisis

By Mike Murphy. President Donald Trump announced new tariffs against products imported from Mexico late Thursday, saying in a tweet that they would stay in effect until the illegal immigration problem was solved. “On June 10th, the United States will impose a 5% Tariff on all goods coming into our Country from Mexico, until such time as illegal migrants coming through Mexico, and into our Country, STOP,” Trump said. “The Tariff will gradually increase until the Illegal Immigration problem is remedied at which time the Tariffs will be removed. Details from the White House to follow.” In a separate statement, Trump blamed Mexico for not doing enough to stop illegal immigrants from crossing into the U.S., saying “Mexico has not treated us fairly.” Trump said the tariffs will rise to 10% on July 1 if the crisis persists, and by another 5% for every successive month up to 25% by Oct. 1, unless “Mexico substantially stops the illegal inflow of aliens coming through its territory.” (Read more for how Trump plans to stop the illegal alien crisis HERE)

Tariff Goes Into Effect June 10

By Joanna Tan. The U.S. will impose a 5% tariff on all Mexican imports from June 10 — and more duties will be added in the coming months if Mexico does not take action “reduce or eliminate the number of illegal aliens” crossing into the U.S., the White House said Thursday.

It comes as U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer on Thursday sent a letter to congressional leaders, kick starting the process of approving updates to the North American Free Trade Agreement.

U.S. President Donald Trump first announced the Mexico tariffs via Twitter. (Read more about Trump stopping the illegal alien crisis HERE)

Full White House Statement

To address the emergency at the Southern Border, I am invoking the authorities granted to me by the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. Accordingly, starting on June 10, 2019, the United States will impose a 5 percent Tariff on all goods imported from Mexico. If the illegal migration crisis is alleviated through effective actions taken by Mexico, to be determined in our sole discretion and judgment, the Tariffs will be removed. If the crisis persists, however, the Tariffs will be raised to 10 percent on July 1, 2019. Similarly, if Mexico still has not taken action to dramatically reduce or eliminate the number of illegal aliens crossing its territory into the United States, Tariffs will be increased to 15 percent on August 1, 2019, to 20 percent on September 1, 2019, and to 25 percent on October 1, 2019. Tariffs will permanently remain at the 25 percent level unless and until Mexico substantially stops the illegal inflow of aliens coming through its territory. Workers who come to our country through the legal admissions process, including those working on farms, ranches, and in other businesses, will be allowed easy passage.

Watch: Climate Warriors Are Asked How We Can Save the Planet. Their Answers Will Leave You Speechless.

By The Blaze. “Slightly Offens*ve” host Elijah Schaffer attended a climate change march in Los Angeles to ask attendees for their ideas in finding solutions for what they called the “climate catastrophe.” . . .

Here are some of their answers:

“All this travelling, constantly moving, by car, by plane, [is] wasting and putting all this crap out there in the air. There are diesel engines, or gas, or you know, there’s non-gas alternatives, and we can use all that.”

“Everybody knows that there’s a climate crisis, but what’s the solution? Elon Musk? He says let’s go to Mars, abandon Earth. Some people say let’s kill everybody. Let’s build a wall at the border because as the planet gets hotter people are going to want to escape violence and plagues and death and famine, and so come to the U.S. — so just build a wall, send people to camps, kill people and that’s a way to deal with the climate catastrophe. I think that morally that’s kinda f***ed up.”

“We talk about what’s happening to the environment. We talk about how we can change, you know. My family, like, we have a compost system, like we recycle, like I come to these marches. What was the question?”

Biden Nearly Flunks Climate Change on Greenpeace Report Card

By Bloomberg. Joe Biden got a D-minus on a climate change report card ranking Democratic presidential candidates released Thursday by the liberal environmental group Greenpeace.

Biden, the Democratic front runner, has yet to release a detailed plan on how he will combat climate change. But the scorecard evaluated 19 candidates on their commitments to ending the use of fossil fuels and support for environmental policies based on statements, legislative records and published plans. Some candidates also responded to a 29-question survey from the environmental group.

“If he wants to translate his front-runner status in the polls to actual leadership on climate, we need him to come out with a bold, concrete plan in line with the scale of the crisis we’re facing,” said Janet Redman, climate campaign director for Greenpeace USA.

The Biden campaign didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. During a campaign swing in New Hampshire earlier this month, the candidate called for an “environmental revolution,” though he has yet join many of his Democratic campaign opponents in signing onto the Green New Deal. The Second Amendment Sanctuary Movement Comes to a New State

Local officials in Paris, Maine, voted to declare their town a “Second Amendment sanctuary,” joining a pro-gun movement that is sweeping liberty-loving jurisdictions across the United States.

Paris’ board of selectmen approved a sanctuary resolution Tuesday night, according to the Lewiston Sun Journal.

“A lot of us believe it’s a right that we have and a right we’d like to keep,” Board Chairman Rusty Brackett said of the pro-gun-rights decision, which he added was mostly symbolic at this point, a local CBS affiliate reports.

“I don’t even want to say, ‘If push comes to shove,’ but ideally, if push comes to shove, do we have the right to say, ‘No, not in Paris?’” Brackett also said. “We’re a constitutional town.”

Local governments and law enforcement officials throughout the country have responded to state-level gun control laws by declaring Second Amendment “sanctuaries” that pledge to protect citizens’ gun rights by not enforcing measures that they say run afoul of the Constitution.

The movement has seen a lot of traction in western states including New Mexico, Nevada, and Washington, but the Paris selectmen’s decision brings it to America’s easternmost state.

Maine legislators have been considering gun laws that would include a so-called “red flag” confiscation bill, which would allow judges to take someone’s guns away if that person were deemed to be a threat to themselves or others. A similar bill was passed by Maine lawmakers last year, but was vetoed by Republican Governor Paul LePage.

While gun control groups see the confiscation effort as a means of preventing potential tragedies, gun advocates warn that such measures are ripe for abuse. Gun Owners of Maine President Todd Tollhurst warned that last year’s bill would have allowed spurned romantic partners to have someone’s guns confiscated by court order.

“So basically anyone can attack your gun rights,” Tolhurst said in a Bangor Daily News report. “All they have to do is tell a little lie that cannot be discovered.”

Paris, Maine, isn’t the only New England locality that has considered the sanctuary option for its citizens’ gun rights; a Rhode Island state senator is encouraging municipalities in his home state to declare themselves Second Amendment sanctuaries as well. Did Anyone Catch This Tweak That Mueller Made About the Russian Collusion Findings?

By Townhall. So, Robert Mueller is gone. Poof…into the wind he goes. After two years, he finally concluded that there was no collusion and reiterated his position on obstruction, though he gave the entire Democratic Party a massive smoke signal to push for impeachment on that front. It’s it new. Meh. Not really. Since 2019 the Democrats have been slowly building up towards impeachment proceedings. Heck, Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY), his posse, and his politically motivated subpoenas over Trump’s taxes and bank records are all but a massive game of impeachment bingo. The Democrats are throwing up whatever against the wall and sees what sticks, even if it’s nowhere near as explosive as Russian collusion, which has been debunked. Or has it? Mueller used the phrase “insufficient evidence” to describe that aspect of his report today in a presser, where he took no questions. That’s odd. That’s a bit different than what’s in the report on this matter: “the investigation did not establish that members of the Trump Campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities.”

Eric Trump Accuses Mueller of Dividing the Country Following Public Statement

By Yahoo. On Lou Dobbs Tonight, Eric Trump accused Robert Mueller of dividing the country following the former special counsel’s first public statement since the partial release of the Mueller Report. In his statement, Mueller said there was insufficient evidence to bring a charge of conspiracy, and on the issue of obstruction, he was very clear that Donald Trump was not exonerated of a crime. But Eric obviously sees things differently as he contradicted Mueller.

“I think the guy’s done a tremendous amount to divide this country,” Eric said. “It wouldn’t take anybody two and a half years to come up with the fact that there’s no collusion, that there’s no obstruction.”

After Promising to Respect Women’s Space, Biden Has Creepy Interaction with Young Girl – and It’s on Video

By The Blaze. Presidential candidate Joe Biden was criticized for once again getting too close to a young girl after he promised to respect women’s personal space and act more appropriately. . .

In videos of the campaign stop, Biden tells the girl, “I bet you’re as bright as you are good looking.”

After she answers that she’s interested in journalism, so Biden grabs her and whisks her away to the back of the room where the reporters are covering the event. . .

Biden has been accused by a former Democratic lawmaker of inappropriately touching and smelling her before a campaign event. After she made her accusations, numerous women released statements offering other inappropriate behavior from the former vice president.

Where’s Joe? Biden’s campaign pace called into question

By Fox News. It’s been more than one week since Joe Biden held a public campaign event.

After launching his Democratic presidential campaign in late April, the former vice president came out of the gate with a busy schedule, holding events in all four of the states that kick off the primary and caucus calendar, as well as stops in California. And Biden started and closed that campaign swing with speeches in his native Pennsylvania, which is also a crucial general election battleground state.

But Biden hasn’t held a public campaign event since his large kickoff rally in Philadelphia on May 18. Since then, he’s only headlined a top-dollar fundraiser in Nashville, Tenn., and two more in Florida.

And while a bunch of his rivals for the 2020 Democratic nomination are stumping this holiday weekend, Biden’s off the trail.

“Joe Biden has no public events scheduled,” read a release from his campaign. (Read more from “Where’s Joe? Biden’s campaign pace called into question” HERE)

Trump Supporter Confronts Justin Amash for Endorsing Impeachment, and It Gets Very Heated

Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) was confronted by a Trump supporter at his town hall meeting who wanted answers after the Republican Libertarian called for the impeachment of President Donald Trump. . .

“This is what Mueller and the Democrats have all tried to, and the deep state, the bureaucrats, I don’t know if you’ve ever dealt with a bureaucrat, but it’s just mind-boggling that we have to deal with them,” the woman said, “I have a lot of experience.”

“How come you’ve become a Democrat when we voted for you as a Republican because you just drink the same Kool-Aid as all the Democrats?” she asked. . .

“First I have one of the most constitutionally conservative and fiscally conservative voting records in the whole Congress,” Amash answered to great applause.

“And in fact, I have voted to spend less than any member of Congress in either chamber since I’ve been in Congress,” he explained,” so I’ve voted for less spending. When I got elected as part of the Tea Party movement, people cared about limited government, they cared about fiscal conservatism, making sure that our government wasn’t spending too much. Obama Administration’s Actions Against Press Worse Than Previously Known

By Daily Wire. On Thursday, the Columbia Journalism Review reported on the results of a Freedom of Information Act request for documents related to the Obama Justice Department’s attempts to crack down on leaks to reporters which reveal that the Obama administration’s actions against the press “were broader than previously known.”

The report — which begins by warning against the threat the Trump administration poses to the freedom of the press — presents an alarming picture of the previous administration’s efforts to surveil the press and track down sources of leaks (h/t Ed Morrissey). . .

“In 2013, the Justice Department launched a brazen attack on press freedom, issuing sweeping subpoenas for the phone records of the Associated Press and several of its reporters and editors as part of a leak investigation,” the authors report. While those subpoenas have long been understood as “a massive intrusion into newsgathering operations,” they note, the recently unearthed 2014 report reveals that the subpoenas targeting AP “told only part of the story.”

The Office of Professional Responsibility’s report on the Obama Justice Department’s subpoenas of AP phone records reveals that “the DOJ’s actions against the AP were broader than previously known, and that the DOJ considered subpoenaing the phone records of other news organizations, including The Washington Post, The New York Times, and ABC News,” the authors explain. The report also reveals “how narrowly the DOJ interprets the Media Guidelines, the agency’s internal rules for obtaining reporters’ data.” (Read more from “Obama Administration’s Actions Against Press Worse Than Previously Known” HERE)

Report Reveals New Details About DOJ’s Seizing of AP Phone Records

By Columbia Journalism Review. A new report obtained by the Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University and the Freedom of the Press Foundation (where the authors work) under the Freedom of Information Act shows that the DOJ’s actions against the AP were broader than previously known, and that the DOJ considered subpoenaing the phone records of other news organizations, including The Washington Post, The New York Times, and ABC News. Moreover, they reveal how narrowly the DOJ interprets the Media Guidelines, the agency’s internal rules for obtaining reporters’ data.

In May 2012, the AP published several articles about a successful CIA operation that thwarted a Yemen-based bomb plot. These articles contained classified information and their publication prompted a leak investigation. In February 2013, then Deputy Attorney General James Cole approved a request by DOJ attorneys to subpoena the telephone records of the AP as part of this investigation. . .

The report, which was submitted to then–Attorney General Eric Holder in 2013, reveals that the leak probe was broader than previously understood. It reveals, for example, that, while the Justice Department obtained telephone toll records for 21 telephone numbers, the agency in fact issued “30 subpoenas to obtain telephone toll records for 30 unique telephone numbers.” The report reveals that those 30 subpoenas were intended to target seven reporters and editors, and covered a period of six weeks spanning April 1, 2012 to May 10, 2012.

The report also shows that, at least at one stage of their investigation, Justice Department attorneys considered subpoenaing the records of The Washington Post, The New York Times, and ABC News. What’s more, the report strongly suggests that the attorneys went so far as to obtain “telephone numbers and other contact information” for reporters and editors at those organizations who had worked on articles about the Yemen bomb plot. The report records, however, that the attorneys ultimately decided against issuing additional subpoenas. (Read more from “Report Reveals New Details About DOJ’s Seizing of AP Phone Records” HERE)

Disabled Girl Who Was Horribly Shamed Online by Abortion Activists Dies ‘After Living Life to the Fullest’

The Cornelius girl whose facial deformity made her both a target of social media trolls and a symbol of public acceptance of people with disabilities has died, her mother said.

A Twitter user early last year included a photo of Sophia Weaver in a tweet “as the poster child to abort bc she’s disabled.” Sophia’s mother, Natalie Weaver, complained and the social media platform eventually apologized and clarified its rules on hate speech.

Sophia had Rett syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that occurs mostly in girls and affects the abilities to speak, walk, eat and breathe, the Associated Press has reported. . .

Weaver posted an update early Friday: “‪Our #SweetSophia left this earth last night as she spent every day of her life, surrounded by love & adoration…. Once we pull ourselves from this heart shattering pain we will continue to help others in her memory.” . . .

Weaver had advocated for her daughter, and for the public acceptance of other children with disabilities and facial deformities, well before the Twitter incident. She’s co-founder of the nonprofit Advocates for Medically Fragile Kids NC. Left-Wing Pastor Denounces ‘Straight White Men’ During Christian College Commencement Prayer — and Gets Cheers from Crowd

A left-wing pastor from a progressive church denounced “straight white men” in his commencement benediction last weekend at Baylor University, a private Christian college in Waco, Texas.

Dan Freemyer — pastor of missional engagement at Broadway Baptist Church in Fort Worth, which calls itself “fully affirming of women in lay and professional ministry roles and fully inclusive of LGBTQ+ persons” — got in a mention of the graduates’ “privileges” during his prayer Saturday morning along with an environmental appeal before turning his attention to skin color.

“And God, give them the moral imagination to reject the old keys that we are trying to give them to a planet that we’re poisoning by running it on fossil fuels and misplaced priorities,” he prayed. “A planet with too many straight white men like me behind the steering wheel while others have been expected to sit quietly at the back of the bus.” . . .

Rod Dreher, writing for the American Conservative, called Freemyer’s benediction “appalling” before asking, “I wonder how many straight white men are Baylor donors? I wonder how many straight white male and female parents of high school students will understand the meaning of this signal, and look elsewhere for their children’s Christian college education?” (Read more from “Left-Wing Pastor Denounces ‘Straight White Men’ During Christian College Commencement Prayer — and Gets Cheers from Crowd” HERE)

Senator Reveals What John McCain Was Saying During Trump’s Inauguration Ceremony

Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar said the late Sen. John McCain compared President Donald Trump to notable dictators aloud during the president’s 2017 inauguration ceremony.

Speaking in Iowa on a campaign stop ahead of the 2020 presidential election, Klobuchar said she was seated next to Democratic Sen. Bernie Sanders and longtime Republican McCain, who “knew more than any of us what we were facing as a nation.”

“I sat on that stage between Bernie and John McCain, and John McCain kept reciting to me names of dictators during that speech because he knew more than any of us what we were facing as a nation,” Klobuchar said. “He understood it. He knew because he knew this man more than any of us did.”

McCain and Trump publicly squared off multiple times since the 2016 Election. Trump jabbed at the senator for his vote that killed the Obamacare repeal and raised eyebrows by mocking his capture while serving as a fighter pilot in Vietnam, saying he likes “people who weren’t captured.”

McCain’s August 2018 death brought the pair’s fraught relationship into focus, as Trump was asked not to attend the funeral and McCain’s daughter Meghan took aim at the state of the country under the president in her eulogy for the massive crowd of Washington heavyweights.
