Celebrities Who Blamed Trump for Fake Attack on Jussie Smollett

By Breitbart. Left-wing Hollywood wasted no time in politicizing and blaming President Donald Trump and his supporters for an alleged hate crime attack on Empire actor Jussie Smollett — an encounter that police now reportedly believe to have been staged. . .

Smollett had previously claimed that at 2am in downtown Chicago, he was attacked by two men, had a rope wrapped around his neck, and chemicals thrown on him and claimed he was called racial and homophobic slurs. He also said that the attackers yelled “This is MAGA country!” at him.

Left-wing Hollywood, of course, used the alleged attack to cast blame on President Trump and the United States in general.

Empire co-creator Lee Daniels said, “We have to love each other regardless of what sexual orientation we are because it shows we are united on a united front and no racist fuck can come in and do the things that they did to you.”

Jussie Smollett angrily denies complicity in attack

By Boston Herald. Attorneys for “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett issued a statement Saturday denying that he orchestrated his Jan. 29 assault, and saying he is “angered” and “devastated” by recent developments in the case.

Chicago police want to interview Smollett, after learning new evidence from two Nigerian brothers who were released on Friday night. Local media outlets have reported that the brothers admitted to police that Smollett paid them to carry out the attack. Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi issued a statement earlier Saturday saying that the new evidence “shifted the trajectory of the investigation.”

Smollett’s attorneys denied that he was involved, saying “Nothing is further from the truth and anyone claiming otherwise is lying.”

Smollett told police on Jan. 29 that two men had attacked him, poured bleach on him, put a rope around his neck, and used racial and homophobic slurs. Police scoured hundreds of hours of surveillance video in search of clues in the case, eventually tracking down the two brothers on Wednesday night. Ocasio-Cortez Is Living the High Life in Luxury DC Apartments

Democratic Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) made a big deal about not being able to afford rent in both New York City and Washington, D.C. She said that, without her $174,000 salary as a Congresswoman, she wouldn’t be able to afford two apartments. She even had a celebrity chef offer to let the Congresswoman-elect to stay with his family until she got on her feet.

Fast forward a couple months later and Ocasio-Cortez is now living in luxury apartments in Washington, D.C.’s Navy Yard neighborhood, where rent for a studio apartment exceeds $2,000 a month, the Washington Free Beacon reported.

From the Free Beacon:

Her office pushed back against the notion that it was hypocritical for Ocasio-Cortez, who has made housing affordability one of her top policy concerns, to move into a luxury building. A spokesman pointed out that her office also uses a car with an “internal combustion engine that runs on fossil fuels,” even though she thinks their use should be eliminated.

Many sympathized with Ocasio-Cortez’s stated difficulty with finding an apartment in D.C., where rents have been on the rise in recent years. Affording a second residence in the capital has proven to be a challenge for lawmakers on both sides of the aisle, with some choosing to live together with colleagues or to bunk up in their congressional office as cost-saving measures.

Why Isn’t Trump Using the Most Obvious and Effective Executive Actions for the Border?

The goal is to stop illegal immigration and the cartels, not to build partial fencing as an end in itself. Like many solutions to life’s problems, fencing is extremely helpful as part of a broader solution, but almost meaningless if we ignore the cause of this crisis and downright moot if we make that cause worse. This is the key to understanding the border emergency declaration mixed with signing this awful omnibus-amnesty bill.

The president is right. We have a national emergency. The amnesty provision in the bill he is signing is the national emergency. In fact, it is an international emergency that will spawn the worst global human trafficking crisis ever seen and make the American people pay for it in both money and security. It openly invites any illegal alien to contract with cartels to smuggle in more illegal teenagers and children and then obtain amnesty merely by association with the teenager or child. The power of avoiding deportation, as I mentioned yesterday, will be such an incentive that it will create an entire market for the cartel smuggling, even worse than the current crisis.

Today, Trump’s declaration of a national emergency at the border is not designed to actually deal with the real emergency at the border and finally stop illegal immigration and combat the cartels. It is designed to distract his base from the betrayal of signing this amnesty bill and focus on his partial, watered-down strategic fencing, when this issue has long become much more severe than a lack of fencing in some areas.

Signing this bill pours gasoline on the emergency, and the emergency declaration is a non-sequitur to that very problem he is asserting.

Trump is right that there is an emergency at our border unlike any other period of illegal immigration in this country. It is an emergency that largely began during his own presidency, long after he made a border wall the focal point of his enforcement agenda. The challenge at the border thanks to the courts has changed. The emergency is not the lack of fencing. The emergency is our own policies, policies that this administration has reluctantly continued and has no road map to ending. I’ve written six reasons why this border invasion is quantitatively and qualitatively worse than before, but here is a quick summary:

Unlike past waves of Mexican migration, where hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants were immediately returned, the Central American immigrants have been treated as de facto refugees and asylees and released into our nation at huge cost to our communities.

Because the Central American wave is driven by lawfare, they surrender to Border Patrol rather than trying to sneak in.

Once the cartels know the migrants want to surrender to agents, they are now shoving hundreds of them at once at the border agents. Worse, what is fueling this wave of migration is the DACA amnesty Trump is continuing, plus the court rulings that establish a rule that if you come with a child or if you are a teenager, you are essentially not an illegal alien and you get to stay. We’ve had over 60 waves of these large groups in just the first four months of this fiscal year, something we’ve never experienced before. This places a strain on the agents that has never happened before and essentially shuts down the Border Patrol as a deterrent to the cartels.

While the agents are busy serving as a bed and breakfast and transportation hubs, that is when the cartels are bringing in their criminals, drugs, and more importantly, as DEA Special Agent Robert Murphy told me, the drug producers and traffickers who actually make and move the product.

This is a very simple case for Trump to make to the American people, because the data, evidence, and anecdotes all back this up. The problem is that the policy solutions that should be dictated by his declaration should address the cause of this crisis, not just building a small area of fencing with a few billion dollars. And Trump’s signing of a bill that openly invites all illegal aliens in this country to sponsor more children to come here illegally is the biggest emergency of all.

The reason why a border wall works in Israel is because infiltrators don’t want to meet an Israeli soldier. They will be prosecuted, at bare minimum. Thus, a border wall is enough of a deterrent because of the likelihood that the crosser will get caught in the process of traversing the barrier. This is the same reason why the fences in Yuma worked back when we had the Mexican migrants who were either turned back or prosecuted. The illegal aliens did not want to get confronted by agents; they wanted to sneak into the country. It’s impossible to sneak in when climbing a tall fence; thus, the fencing worked.

That is no longer the case, since we’ve invited in everyone in the world to come as teenagers or with teenagers and young kids. They want nothing more than to surrender to agents from on top of the fence. They are coming from all over the world. There are now caravans from Venezuela waiting to come. They will just come to points of entry or climb the fence, as they are doing every day, including over the 18-foot bollards in Yuma that once worked to deter the traditional illegal immigrants from Mexico. As Yuma County Sheriff Leon Wilmot, said on my podcast earlier this month, “You have to have all elements of enforcement to have an effect.” He lamented how his deputies are taking kids to the hospital after they are dropped over the 18-foot fence and this administration refuses to prosecute the parents because of political concerns “like we would prosecute any American parent for engaging in such criminal behavior.”

Who will pay for the effects of this bill Trump is supporting? Former ICE Director Thomas Homan warned in an interview with CR, “This section of law will cause a surge of UACs who will be smuggled by criminal organizations that have been bankrolled by this legislation. More children will be abused and more M-S 13 members will enter and their smugglers in the U.S. [will be] protected.” The MS-13 problem is exclusively because of the UAC loophole that is being expanded, not fixed, in this bill.

Which brings us back to Trump’s emergency declaration.

When a sick patient comes into a hospital, the urgent job of emergency room personnel is to triage, try to stop the bleeding, then treat the illness or wound. The final step is to inoculate the patient from future bouts of illness. The fence, in this case, is not the emergency element; it is the inoculation. The emergency need is to disregard illegal nationwide court injunctions and follow the president’s unquestionable 212(f) and Article II powers to shut down cross-border migration. It’s an emergency need to end the asylum and UAC and Flores nonsense. It’s an emergency need to stop sanctuary cities. It’s an emergency need to have a military buildup and actually treat the cartels like a defense issue tactically.

Once we do all of that, then, frankly, we won’t even need a fence, because the flow will be shut down. Nonetheless, it’s important to eventually build one, so that if a future Democrat president renews all the invitations to come here illegally, at least there is a wall to slow them down. But that is not the urgent resuscitation; it is the long-term inoculation. If Trump is going to expend such political capital on executive action, why not take that action and direct it towards what is actually causing the emergency and what would solve it? How about we stop violating the Constitution by handing out American Social Security numbers to Obama’s illegally amnestied aliens? Why won’t Trump end Obama’s amnesty, and why is he continuing it even longer than the court asked?

This is the real problem with the executive action. We can make a strong case that the border situation is the biggest emergency we have had in years. But the actions of signing this amnesty bill, with no legitimate border security provisions, and then declaring an emergency just to reprogram a couple billion in DOD funding for a campaign promise, without simply using Article II powers to directly shut off the illegal immigration fueling all of this, drastically undermines the case.

If this is indeed an emergency, which I believe it is, Trump needs to demonstrate it holistically. It’s better policy and better politics. (For more from the author of “Why Isn’t Trump Using the Most Obvious and Effective Executive Actions for the Border?” please click HERE)

Report: Chicago Police Have Made Explosive Conclusion About Alleged Racial Attack on Jussie Smollett

By The Blaze. New explosive details are emerging out of the investigation into the claims from “Empire” star Jussie Smollett that he was the subject of a racial and homophobic attack by assailants yelling President Donald Trump campaign slogans.

The wheels of justice began to grind much more quickly after Chicago police discovered the two “persons of interest” that were caught by surveillance cameras on the night of the alleged attacks.

. . .

“Multiple soucres tell @ABC7Chicago Eyewitness News Jussie Smollet and the 2 men who are being questioned by police staged the attack,” he tweeted, “allegedly because his character was being written out of the show Empire.”

The two men are reportedly of Nigerian descent, and their homes were raided by police on Wednesday evening, according to Charles De Mar of CBS Chicago, who spoke to the families of the men.

Smollett had vehemently denied the speculation from many that the attack was a hoax. It appears he will have to answer to law enforcement about those claims.

Lawyer for Nigerian Brothers Does Not Deny That Attack Was Staged

By TMZ. Attorney Gloria Schmidt was at the Chicago police station Friday night, after her clients, Ola and Abel Osundairo, were released from custody. Schmidt said the “new evidence” that triggered the release of her clients was something they knew and presumably told cops.

Our photog asked Schmidt flat out if the “attack” was staged, and she answered obliquely, saying there were moving parts and she didn’t want to speculate. . .

She said she didn’t want to speak for her clients because they had a story to tell “when the time is right.” That clearly sounds like they have inside information about what went down at Jussie’s apartment building. (Read more from this story HERE)

Trump Makes HUGE Statement About Declaring a National Emergency, Shocks GOP

By Politico. The surprise announcement Thursday that President Donald Trump will use his emergency powers to try and build his border wall blindsided some Republicans, confused others and sent the Senate GOP into a general state of shock.

The news, delivered by Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on the Senate floor, came after weeks of warnings from his own party not to declare a national emergency at the border. . .

“I wish he wouldn’t have done it,” said Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), who McConnell interrupted on the Senate floor to make his announcement. “If [Trump] figures that Congress didn’t do enough and he’s got to do it, then I imagine we’ll find out whether he’s got the authority to do it by the courts.”

“In general, I’m not for running the government by emergency, nor spending money. The Constitution’s pretty clear: spending originates and is directed by Congress,” said Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), who like almost everyone else on Capitol Hill wants more information. “So I’m not really for it.” (Read more from “Trump Makes HUGE Statement About Declaring a National Emergency” HERE)

Report: Trump Declaring National Emergency for Border Funding

By Daily Wire. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said on Thursday that President Donald Trump will sign a spending bill to avoid another government shutdown and is declaring a national emergency to secure the funds needed to build the border wall.

“He’s prepared to sign the bill, he will also be issuing a national emergency declaration at the same time,” McConnell said. “And, I’ve indicated to him that I am going to support the national emergency declaration. So, for all of my colleagues: the president will sign the bill. We’ll be voting on it shortly. And, with that, I ask the chair to lay before the Senate the conference report to accompany House Joint Resolution 31.”

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement: “President Trump will sign the government funding bill, and as he has stated before, he will also take other executive action – including a national emergency – to ensure we stop the national security and humanitarian crisis at the border. The President is once again delivering on his promise to build the wall, protect the border, and secure our great country.”

“If Trump follows through, lawmakers and the White House would dodge their second partial shutdown since December, sparing about 800,000 federal workers from more financial pain,” CNBC reported. “But the emergency declaration would quickly spark lawsuits challenging the president’s authority, creating yet another fight over his key campaign promise.”

“The emergency declaration would allow Trump to redirect funds from other parts of the government to the project without congressional approval,” CNBC added. “The move could in part assuage conservative critics who argued the president should not accept the latest congressional plan, which denied him the funding he demanded for the border barrier.”

Former Air Force Officer Accused Of Being Iran Spy, Charged With Espionage

By Daily Wire. On Wednesday, former Air Force intelligence office Monica Witt was charged with espionage for allegedly defecting to Iran and helping create a cyber-spying operation which targeted her former colleagues.

CBS News reports that Witt is accused of defecting to Iran in 2013 and sharing highly-classified U.S. intelligence about a classified Department of Defense program. Authorities claim Witt collaborated with the elite Iranian military unit, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

The FBI’s wanted listing says that Witt was indicted by a grand jury on February 8, and charged with “Conspiracy to Deliver National Defense Information to Representatives of a Foreign Government and Delivering National Defense Information to Representatives of a Foreign Government.”

“Monica Witt is charged with revealing to the Iranian regime a highly classified intelligence program and the identity of a U.S. Intelligence Officer, all in violation of the law, her solemn oath to protect and defend our country, and the bounds of human decency,” assistant attorney general John Demers wrote in a statement.

Witt, 39, had high-level security clearances and was in the Air Force from 1997 to 2008, then became a Defense Department contractor until 2010. She also reportedly went abroad several times on counterintelligence missions. (Read more from “Former Air Force Officer Accused of Giving Information to Iran, Charged With Espionage” HERE)

Former Air Force Officer Charged With Espionage, Accused of Helping Iran

By CBS News. The Department of Justice charged former U.S. Air Force special agent and counterintelligence specialist Monica Witt with espionage, accusing her of defecting to Iran in 2013 and revealing highly-classified U.S. intelligence to the government in Tehran.

In a grand jury indictment unsealed Wednesday, prosecutors said Witt, 39, provided the Iranian government information about a classified Defense Department program and helped Tehran’s intelligence services target her former colleagues in the U.S. intelligence community. According to authorities, Witt collaborated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, an elite military unit charged with exerting Tehran’s influence around the world.

“[Witt] appears to have switched her allegiance to thinking that the United States, where she was born and raised and worked, was not where her allegiance was anymore,” assistant attorney general John Demers told CBS News Wednesday. Witt’s actions, the FBI said, put the life of the officer whose identity she revealed at risk.

The government issued an arrest warrant for Witt, who remains at large. U.S. officials believe she is still in Iran. (Read more from “Former Air Force Officer Charged With Espionage, Accused of Helping Iran” HERE)

Trump Breaks His Silence on Proposed Border Deal

President Donald Trump said Tuesday he was not “happy” with the border deal negotiated by bipartisan committees in the House and Senate to fund border security and avert a government shutdown.

“Am I happy at first glance? I just got to see it. The answer is no, I’m not. I’m not happy,” Trump told reporters in the White House just before a Cabinet meeting. But he added that he is “thrilled” with the direction his administration is going, “because we’re supplementing things, and moving things around, and we’re doing things that are fantastic and taking from far less, really from far less important areas.”

Congress must reach a deal to fund the government by Friday, or else a second government shutdown of this year will be triggered. A bipartisan group of lawmakers assigned to committees in the House and the Senate to draft a deal behind closed doors presented their agreement Tuesday. The proposed deal would give Trump far less than the $5.7 billion he requested to build a wall, and it would specifically prohibit the construction of concrete barriers. Instead, the deal would reportedly appropriate $1.375 billion for physical barriers and the construction of 55 miles of fencing, while also reducing the number of overall ICE detention beds from 49,057 to 40,520. Under this deal, the wall would not be built and Congress would limit the ability of immigration enforcement to enforce the law.

President Trump did not say he would reject the deal. He did predict that the government would not shut down and insisted that his administration would finish construction of the wall.

“The bottom line is we’re building a lot of wall,” Trump said.

It is unclear how Trump intends to finish the wall. His comment about “moving things around” seems to echo a Politico report from Monday night that the White House is considering an executive order to shift money from Army Corps of Engineers’ flood projects and disaster relief to fund construction of the wall. Trump also reiterated his right to declare a national emergency to fund the wall, though he did not definitively say whether he would do so. Insanely Creepy Stories That Prove Your Phone Is Listening to Everything You Say

1. Four years ago we moved from a place we’d lived at for several years. A couple of months ago I opened Safari on my phone and was going to search for a restaurant. The auto-complete on the first letter suggested the obituary of our next-door neighbor who had passed away three years ago (a year after we moved). I was very chat-over-the-fence close to him while we were neighbors but didn’t cope well with his sickness. I never even knew his last name until Google taught it to me in the bizarre auto-complete from the letter ‘R’. That unsettled me a bit. . . .

[2.]Not mine, but my sister was watching a documentary or some sort of program on Netflix, and the program involved a funeral. They were picking out a headstone, and different funeral arrangements, the usual. The next morning, she wakes up, and every ad in her Facebook feed is for headstones and other funeral related items. No deaths in the family or any other potential search that could’ve sparked it. . .

[3.] I had bought cookie dough and my mom joked she was going to eat it raw I told her she could get sick. Couple hours later opened up Google and there’s an article about how eating raw cookie dough is dangerous. I never googled this subject. . .

[4.] Went to go pick up a dress with my friend yesterday – we had looked online for pics of it, and couldn’t find any. Today, instagram “suggests” a pic of a girl in that exact dress. . .

[5.] I was literally thinking about buying a sleeping mask because I’ve been having trouble sleeping due to being very light sensitive. What’s the first ad I see on Instagram? HEY THERE! WANNA BUY A SLEEPING MASK???

Cory Booker Says the Earth ‘Can’t Sustain’ People Eating Meat. Liz Cheney Fires off Meat-Eaters’ Response in One Tweet.

On Tuesday, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) had a pointed response to Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ), who is a vegetarian and was quoted saying that the earth “can’t sustain” people eating meat. Cheney tweeted, “Hey @CoryBooker I support PETA – People Eating Tasty Animals. @BeefUSA#WyomingBeefCountry.”

As The Daily Wire reported, Booker had spoken to VegNews about his belief that ”industrially produced animal agriculture” was having a deleterious environmental impact on the earth. VegNews reported:

While claiming he does not want to lecture Americans on their diets, Booker says Americans need to be nudged into fake cheese because the planet cannot sustain the “environmental impact” of the food industry. “You see the planet earth moving towards what is the Standard American Diet,” Booker said. “We’ve seen this massive increase in consumption of meat produced by the industrial animal agriculture industry.”

. . .

Booker co-introduced the Green New Deal, which had its own problems with cows. He stated:

Climate change is a pressing and serious environmental and economic crisis that threatens the way of life for our kids and grandkids. This challenge must be met with a commitment from the federal government that is commensurate with the level of commitment we saw in this country during the original New Deal. And that’s exactly the type of determination this proposal brings. Communities of color, low income communities, indigenous communities and our family farmers are on the front lines of climate change, and I’m particularly encouraged that this blueprint addresses climate change in a way that promotes both economic and environmental justice.”

Photo of ‘the View’ Co-Host Joy Behar Dressed as a ‘Beautiful African Woman’ Resurfaces

A long forgotten video clip from ABC’s “The View” resurfaced on Wednesday that showed co-host Joy Behar trying to explain a Halloween costume from when she was younger.

The clip was shared by The Wrap media editor Jon Levine. Behar was seen discussing a New York Times op-ed about the resurgence of curly hair during the show in 2016. Behar showed her colleagues and the audience a picture of herself with curly hair when she was 29 years old.

The co-hosts appeared surprised by her drastically different look. Raven-Symoné, a former co-host, asked, “Joy, are you black?”

. . .

Behar explained that the picture was taken at a Halloween party where she dressed up as a “beautiful African woman” and stressed that it was her actual hair. . .

The video resurfaced as Democrats in Virginia face intense scrutiny over their use of blackface decades ago. On Friday, Governor Ralph Northam offered an apology after a photograph emerged on his medical school yearbook page that featured a man in blackface and another in a KKK robe. He reversed course the next day, claiming he wasn’t in that photo but did admit to wearing blackface when dressing up as Michael Jackson for a costume contest.
