People in This Small Ohio Town Couldn’t Open Their Cars or Garages for Weeks. The Mystery Has Been Solved.

By Daily Wire. For weeks, residents in North Olmsted, Ohio, just outside of Cleveland, couldn’t use their key fobs to open their cars or garage doors.

The problem started in late April, according to WKCY3. The media outlet interviewed resident Cory Branchick, who said when the problem first started she assumed the battery in her key fob had died. . .

Branchick told the outlet that 10 of her neighbors were having the same issue, and residents who lived on other streets in the area were also experiencing the problem. Some residents only had their key fob stop working, others couldn’t operate their garage doors, while still others found both had stopped working. . .

North Olmsted City Councilman Chris Glassburn said something must be interfering with fobs’ radio frequencies and suggested maybe the utility companies’ equipment in the area was responsible. AT&T and First Energy investigated, but found nothing. First Energy even turned off residents’ power, yet the interfering frequency remained. . .

Glassburn had set out with a retired communications employee and searched for the source. Using a de-amplifier, they found the signal and were able to enter the residents’ home with permission from a neighbor. In the home they found a homemade device had been causing the interference. Key Fobs and Garage Openers Mysteriously Stop Working in North Olmsted Neighborhood

By WKYC 3. “It can’t be some small device that’s causing this interference,” said North Olmsted City Councilman Chris Glassburn.

Glassburn says key fobs and garage openers are radio transmitters. He believes something in the area is interfering with the devices’ radio frequencies.

What is it exactly? It’s been weeks and no one knows. . .

There’s been many theories about what could be behind the issue. People have speculated it could be the airport, or maybe even NASA. (Read more from “Key Fobs and Garage Openers Mysteriously Stop Working in North Olmsted Neighborhood” HERE)

Men Burn Church, Kill 6 During Sunday Mass

By BBC. Gunmen have killed six people including a priest as Mass was being celebrated in a church in Dablo in northern Burkina Faso, officials say.

The attackers, said to number between 20 and 30, then burned down the church.

The town’s mayor, Ousmane Zongo, said that there was panic as other buildings were burned down and a health centre looted.

Jihadist violence has flared in Burkina Faso since 2016, and this is the third attack on a church in five weeks. (Read more from “Men Burn Church, Kill 6 During Sunday Mass” HERE)

GOP Voters Reveal What Trump’s ‘Top Priority’ Should Be For 2020

By Breitbart. Ahead of the 2020 presidential election, Republican voters say President Trump’s top priorities ought to be building a wall along the United States-Mexico border and reducing all immigration to the country.

The latest Harvard/Harris Poll finds that when Republican voters are asked to rank the issues which should be Trump’s biggest priorities, building a wall at the southern border and reducing all immigration top the list.

Ranking as the top priority for Republicans, conservatives, and Trump supporters, 22 to 25 percent of these voters said building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border should be the president’s number one goal today. . .

Even among all U.S. voters, building a border wall and reducing all immigration to the country ranks as the fourth top priority. For swing voters, building a border wall and reducing all immigration are the third and fourth top priorities, following stimulating jobs and passing an infrastructure bill.

Recent polls found similar popularity for reducing all immigration to the U.S. among GOP voters and conservatives. In a Reuters/Ipsos Poll last month, GOP voters called immigration the “most important problem” facing the nation and a Harvard Institute of Politics poll found that young GOP voters were the most skeptical of immigration. Defense chief’s border visit will highlight Trump priority

By Fox News. Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan is making his second trip to the U.S.-Mexican border to highlight what President Donald Trump calls a national emergency, after freeing up $1.5 billion more in Pentagon money to support wall construction.

Shanahan was flying to the Texas border town of McAllen on Saturday with the acting chief of Homeland Security Department, Kevin McAleenan, for a trip that demonstrates Shanahan’s attention to border security, a top Trump priority, amid questions from some in Congress about whether the border mission is an appropriate and wise use of military resources.

As a prelude to the trip, the White House on Thursday announced that Trump intends to nominate Shanahan as defense secretary, ending months of speculation about Pentagon leadership. He has served in an interim capacity since Jan. 1, an unprecedented period of uncertainty at the helm of the Pentagon.

Shanahan has supported the use of active-duty troops, in addition to the National Guard, to bolster Customs and Border Protection efforts to handle surging numbers of Central American migrants seeking to cross the border. But recently he has hinted at impatience with the lack of a long-term strategy for ensuring border security, which is the responsibility of DHS. Democrats Escalate Battle Over President Trump’s Taxes — Here’s What They Just Did

By The Blaze. The House Ways and Means Committee issued subpoenas to obtain six years of President Donald Trump’s taxes after Treasury Secretary Mnuchin denied their request on Monday.

Committee Chairman Richard Neal (D-Mass.) issued a subpoena to Mnuchin and also to Internal Revenue Service Commissioner Charles Rettig.

Mnuchin had first denied the request by saying he was going to ask for guidance from the Department of Justice, and then said that the committee’s request did not have the proper rationale for a “legitimate legislative purpose.”

Critics of Mnuchin say that he’s thumbing his nose at the oversight duty of Congress, while others say Democrats are overstepping their bounds with a politically motivated demand. (Read more from “Democrats Escalate Battle Over President Trump’s Taxes — Here’s What They Just Did” HERE)

Key House Democrat Issues Subpoenas for Trump’s Tax Returns

By CNN. House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard Neal has issued subpoenas for President Donald Trump’s tax returns, the committee told CNN on Friday, an escalation in the fight for the President’s personal financial records and the latest step this week in Democrats’ battle for information from the Trump administration.

Neal sent subpoenas to both IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig and Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin. A Treasury spokesman confirmed to CNN it has received Neal’s subpoena request.

Neal, who has unilateral subpoena power, took the step days after the Treasury Department formally denied Neal’s request for six years of the President’s personal and business tax returns earlier this week.

While Neal did not need a subpoena to eventually move to court, he issued the subpoenas on the advice of House counsel whom he consulted throughout the process about how to build the strongest legal case. (Read more from “Key House Democrat Issues Subpoenas for Trump’s Tax Returns” HERE)

Here Are the FACTS About Pelosi’s and Nadler’s So-Called ‘Constitutional Crisis’ Over the Mueller Report

Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., says that the United States is in a “crisis” because the administration is violating the Constitution in its standoff with House Democrats over the Mueller report.

The facts, however, tell a different story.

“If your question is will the administration violate the Constitution of the United States and not abide by the request of Congress in its legitimate oversight responsibilities, that remains to be seen,” the speaker told reporters at her weekly press conference on Thursday. “Every day they are advertising their obstruction of justice by ignoring subpoenas” and other objections to House Democrats’ demands.

Pelosi went on to say that she agrees with House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., in his assertion that the United States is supposedly now in the middle of a “constitutional crisis” because “the administration has decided that they are not going to honor their oath of office.”

So, are the Trump administration’s actions really a violation of the Constitution? Let’s do a quick fact-check here. What does the Constitution say about this particular situation? Not that much.

Here are the facts:

Attorney General Barr released a redacted version of a confidential report on the Mueller report, which he was under no statutory obligation to do.

Nadler subpoenaed the full, unredacted Mueller report and its underlying evidence from the Department of Justice.

The Department has objected to this, saying that the requested materials contain grand jury information that is protected by section 6(e) of the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure.

That section of the rules says that grand jury information cannot be made public without a court order, which has not been issued.

Despite all this, the DOJ has allowed a dozen members of Congress to come and view a less-redacted version in a secure location at the Department.

None of the six permitted Democrats have come forward so far to take advantage of that offer.

The Department of Justice has reiterated its invitation for Nadler to come view the less-redacted report and work out a compromise in compliance with federal rules.

House/DOJ talks fell apart, and House Democrats scheduled contempt proceedings against Barr.

In response to the contempt proceedings, the White House invoked executive privilege over the contested portions of the Mueller report.

The House of Representatives’ own website acknowledges that the “Constitution says nothing about congressional investigations and oversight,” but says that Congress’ oversight powers were rather implied by historical understanding of the Founders, who got their understanding of it from Congress’ forerunners in the British parliament.

There’s no specific language in the document that gives Congress the ability to issue subpoenas, nor is there anything that outlines how the executive branch is supposed to respond to congressional subpoenas that demand information that can’t be released without a court order.

And given the nature of the situation, the argument could very easily be made that the executive branch has already more than upheld its constitutional obligations to Congress’ implied oversight powers by its repeated offers to allow leaders from both parties from both chambers to come and view the document, minus the secret grand jury information.

At most, we appear to be looking at a constitutional question — not a crisis.

McKinney, 16, who uses the name “Alec,” is being charged under her legal name of Maya Elizabeth.

According to the report, McKinney and the other shooting suspect, Devon Erickson, 18, appeared at Douglas County Courthouse Wednesday. McKinney sat next to her mother, who reportedly remained at the table in the courtroom alone, crying, after her daughter was removed. . .

The Post reported:

McKinney’s attorney offered some clarity to his client’s gender identity during the court hearing after Douglas County Sheriff Tony Spurlock identified the Juvenile suspect as a boy immediately after the shooting and then as a girl during an early Wednesday morning news conference.

Suspected STEM School Shooters Appeared in Court While Classroom Heroes Were Lauded by Family and Friends

By The Denver Post. John Castillo stared through teary eyes across a Douglas County courtroom Wednesday at the teens suspected of killing his son when gunfire erupted inside of STEM School Highlands Ranch the day before.

For more than two hours Wednesday, Castillo sat through the initial court hearings for the teens arrested in connection to the shooting. Investigators suspect that the two teens brought handguns into the school of 1,800 students and opened fire inside — killing Castillo’s son, Kendrick, and injuring eight others.

The shooting has once again plummeted the U.S. into discussions about gun violence, access to firearms and school safety. Politicians gave condolences and expressed outrage. Parents wrote online of the fear they felt sending their kids to school. STEM School students still struggled to understand how their calm campus became the most recent example of violent tragedy. Two vigils were held Wednesday night.

One of the shooting suspects, Devon Erickson, sat hunched in his chair throughout his hearing where he was advised of the charges he is being held on. As the proceeding continued, the skinny 18-year-old with shaggy black and pink hair curled farther into himself — his bangs nearly touching the defense table by the end.

Alec McKinney — who is charged under the legal name of Maya Elizabeth McKinney but uses male pronouns and the name Alec — sat up straight in [her] chair. (Read more from “Suspected STEM School Shooters Appeared in Court Wednesday While Classroom Heroes Were Lauded by Family and Friends” HERE)

Accused Transgender Shooter Demands Court Call Her a “He”

Lawyers for the second suspect in the Colorado school shooting, Maya McKinney, who is listed in court records as a female, asked the court to use the pronoun “he.”

The 16-year-old McKinney is transgender and was transitioning from female to male at the time of Tuesday’s shooting at the STEM School Highlands Ranch in Highlands Ranch, Colo., that left one student dead and eight others wounded. McKinney reportedly identifies as a male and goes by the name Alec. (Read more about the alleged transgender shooter HERE)

Writer Wore a MAGA Hat Into an Ultra-Liberal Vegan Restaurant. Here’s What Happened.

As a case study in American political tribalism in the age of President Trump, a Los Angeles writer wore a MAGA hat to an ultra-liberal vegan restaurant in the city to see what sort of adventures would unfold. Quite shockingly, people actually proved his thesis wrong.

The article by Joel Stein in Los Angeles Magazine confronts the fact that Americans hate each other in the age of President Trump, a fever he himself admits to having been inflicted with at times. . .

In light of all this, Stein devised a little social experiment: wear the iconic Make America Great Again hat to the ultra-liberal Café Gratitude in Larchmont, which he describes as a “vegan hipster restaurant.” It’s a restaurant so liberal that when the establishment sold a “Make America Grateful Hat,” customers complained that it took President Trump’s evil too lightly. . .

“Before I left, I asked the black waiter, Darick Thomas, how he felt about my hat,” Stein continues. “‘I don’t care. At all. Really. At all! I look at a hat and that doesn’t tell me who the person is,’ he said. “‘I’m not against Trump. He says some smart things; he says some dumb things.'”

Throughout Stein’s whole time at the restaurant, only one person, a patron, openly expressed disapproval of his MAGA hat. “Is that guy wearing a f***ing MAGA hat?” the patron asked at the counter. Couple Dies of Bubonic Plague After Eating Raw Marmot

By Breitbart. Nine tourists were left stranded in a remote region of Mongolia after an unidentified local couple died from the bubonic plague.

The ethnically Kazakh couple died on May 1 after ingesting raw marmot kidney — traditionally believed to have health benefits, according to Ulaanbaatar’s World Health Organization spokesperson Ariuntuya Ochirpurev. . .

Unfortunately, marmots are known carriers of Yersinia pestis, the bacterium that culled Europe as the “Black Death” in the middle ages. Once contracted by humans, it is extremely contagious and can be spread by coughing.

After their deaths, a six-day quarantine locked down the area, preventing nine tourists from Germany, Russia, and Switzerland from leaving. They, as well as 24-year-old American Peace Corps volunteer Sebastian Pique, were invited to the governor’s office on Friday to have the situation explained.

“After the quarantine [was announced], not many people — even locals — were in the streets for fear of catching the disease,” Pique said. Fortunately, as no other cases have been reported, the quarantine is expected to lift on Monday. (Read more from “Couple Dies of Bubonic Plague After Eating Raw Marmot” HERE)

Mongolian Couple Die of Bubonic Plague After Eating Marmot

By The Guardian. Each year in Mongolia at least one person dies of the plague, mostly due to consuming such meat, according to the US National Center for Zoonotic Disease.

The Black Death wiped out millions of people in the Middle Ages but cases are now very rare. Its most common form is bubonic, which is spread by fleas and causes swelling of the lymph node. The more virulent form is pneumonic plague, which can be transmitted between humans through coughing. (Read more from “Mongolian Couple Die of Bubonic Plague After Eating Marmot” HERE)

Obama’s Spy Czar Nukes Assertion That Trump Campaign Wasn’t Spied On

The cat is out of the bag. You cannot put the toothpaste back in the tube. It seems like the Obama administration spied on the Trump campaign. The only thing left is figuring out the final cast of characters. James Comey, Rod Rosenstein, and some other familiar faces should be yanked back onto the Hill to discuss everything. From this apparent spy operation against the Trump campaign to FISA abuses, there are rumblings that the impending IG report on these abuses will be “scorching.” So, is there panic? There might be, especially after former Director of National Intelligence under Obama, James Clapper, nuked the FBI’s position that no spying occurred against the Trump team in 2016. The New York Times reported that some woman named Azra Turk was sent over by the FBI (or CIA) to oversee the spying operation, which also included longtime CIA operative Stefan Halper trying to infiltrate the campaign. Ms. Turk reportedly was a “honeypot” trying to pump information out of George Papadopoulos, who said he has no gripes with the Times’ piece other than he thought Turk was CIA. Yeah, former CIA director under Obama, John Brennan, is also on the list of people who need to get the hell back to the Hill to answer questions.

Yet, Michael Goodwin of the NY Post also noted how it’s a bit disturbing that the liberal media takes all of this at face value. How do we know this wasn’t a plot to stop Trump from being elected? How do we know nothing illegal occurred? All should be answered in due time. With Attorney General William Barr at the helm at DOJ, I have confidence that this will happen.

. . .

But Clapper had already come in like a wrecking ball, saying what happened to the Trump campaign fits the dictionary definition of—wait for it—spying. Of course, he also spun it to make it seem less pernicious, but it’s becoming clear that some unprecedented operation was executed against a rival presidential campaign (via Free Beacon):

James Clapper, a CNN contributor and former Director of National Intelligence, admitted last Friday that what the Obama administration did to the Trump campaign “meets the dictionary definition of spying.”

Why This Rifle Maker Keeps Its Base of Operations in One of the Most Anti-Gun Parts of the Country

Indianapolis- It’s right there for all to see—and with pride: Henry—Made In America, or Not At All. That’s the mantra of Henry Repeating Arms, a gun manufacturer based out of Bayonne, New Jersey. Yes, I know. What’s the gun maker doing sticking around in one of the most anti-gun states in the country? It’s a question that the company’s president, Anthony Imperato, answered and it made total sense. We’ll get to that in a bit, but what kind of firearms does this company make? They’re lever action rifles and shotguns commonly seen in any Western film. Think Battle of the Little Big Horn. Okay—bad example, but the Clint Eastwood classic film “Unforgiven,” or “Pale Rider,” would feature rifles that Henry doles out on a daily basis. All parts are made in America, a phrase that’s become perilously close to ornamentation as more companies ship their production overseas. For Henry, that’s not an option. And it likes to be seen as a beacon, an example of an American company that’s thriving while still making its product in the good U.S. of A.

Townhall caught up with Mr. Imperato at the National Rifle Association’s Annual Meeting in Indianapolis, Indiana, where we got to learn a little more about his company. . .

As for Henry itself, it’s not Proctor and Gamble, but it employs 535 people in Wisconsin and New Jersey. Imperato said it’s not massive, but it’s “535 jobs that the state of Wisconsin and NJ are happy to have…well, maybe not the state of New Jersey,” he added with a chuckle. Of the 535 employees, 300 are based in Wisconsin, while 235 work out of the Garden State.

So, why stay, to put it bluntly, in an anti-gun hellhole? It’s very simple. It’s a family history. It’s also the fact that 235 people would probably have to find new jobs. That’s not acceptable either.

“I’m in the gun business because my grandfather had a police equipment gun shop in Lower Manhattan that dates back to 1911,” Imperato said of why he remains in the Tri-State area. “So, we’ve been on the east coast in the gun business for over 100 years, and with that–that whole region Connecticut, Massachusetts, etc. is considered gun valley, and if you want to lump New Jersey into it, now you can,” he added.
