Newborn Baby Girl Named After Officer Who Saved Her Life

A newborn baby girl in Texas now shares a name with the police officer that saved her life.

Officer Natisha Lucas of the Pearland Police Department responded to a medical call from a pregnant mother on Tuesday. When Lucas arrived at the scene she found the mother in shock with the newborn baby suffering from an unknown medical complication. What Officer Lucas did next saved a life. Per the police department’s Facebook post:

The mother (still in shock) directed Officer Lucas’ attention to the newly born baby who was experiencing an unknown medical complication. Officer Lucas responded by administering first aid which led to the baby responding by moving and crying. The Pearland EMS arrived on scene and assumed care for both mother and child and transported the two to Memorial Herman for medical evaluation.

When Officer Lucas later visited the mother and baby at the hospital, the mother told Lucas she had named her baby girl A’Miracle Natisha.

Mother and baby are both fine and “resting comfortably,” according to KPRC-TV.

North Carolina Hospital Celebrates Its Smallest-Surviving Baby Ever

Born three months premature at 10 ounces and 10-inches long, baby E’layah Faith is the smallest surviving baby born at Carolinas Medical Center, and one of the smallest surviving babies ever born anywhere in the world.

Tuesday would have been her due date, and to celebrate her medical team took a moment to congratulate her parents and reflect on this milestone.

“I was scared because she was so little,” Said E-layah’s mother, Megan Smith. “They had this mask on her for the oxygen, and her face was covered– it weighed more than her” . . .

To help keep E-layah breathing and growing, her medical team provided a special incubator with oxygen and intravenous nutrition until her body was finally ready for the outside world.

“We trickled in a tiny bit of breast milk,” said Dr. Andrew Herman with Levine Children’s Hospital. “It’s our job to get them to grow as quickly as we can, as safely as we can.” (Read more from “North Carolina Hospital Celebrates Its Smallest-Surviving Baby Ever” HERE)

Miracle Baby Comes Back from the Dead 30 Minutes After Life Support Is Switched Off

Eighteen-month-old Bella Moore-Williams’ parents could only watch helplessly as their sedated daughter took what they thought was her last breath.

Mother Francesca, 41, and father Lee, 44, wept and took one last photograph with her brother Bobby, five, before her ventilator was switched off.

They had also made prints of her hands and feet as a memento and invited family members to the hospital to say farewell.

Doctors had told them three times that it was unlikely she would survive after they diagnosed a genetic disease.

But 30 minutes later, she began kicking and screaming. (Read more from “Miracle Baby Comes Back from the Dead 30 Minutes After Life Support Is Switched Off” HERE)

Woman Who Killed Her Baby Has Conviction Overturned, Court Says Six-Day-Old Baby Isn’t a Person

A New York court recently ruled that a Long Island woman who killed her baby in a car accident cannot be convicted because her baby was not a person yet.

The Times Union reports Jennifer Jorgensen previously was found guilty of second-degree manslaughter for causing the death of her baby daughter in a car crash. She also was indicted for driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol and endangering the welfare of a child, according to the report.

Jorgensen was in her third trimester when the car accident occurred in May 2008. Her daughter was delivered by C-section after the head-on collision and died six days later, according to the report.

In October, the New York Court of Appeals reversed Jorgensen’s conviction, ruling that she was not guilty because she fatally injured her daughter before she was born . . .

Conservative blogger Warner Todd Huston notes that as outrageous as the ruling may seem, the court is right that current state laws do not recognize unborn babies as “persons.” Jorgensen is no longer being held accountable for her baby’s death because, in the eyes of the state, her unborn daughter did not have the rights of personhood when her reckless behavior fatally injured her child. Baby’s Best Friend! Pet Labrador Adopts the Role of Mom in This Adorable Video

This pooch is more than just man’s best friend and he proved it by taking on the parental responsibilities and tucking the family’s newborn baby into bed.

The heart-warming video, which is believed to have been filmed in America, shows the baby catching up on his sleep with his face down on the sofa.

The attentive pet Labrador approaches, and after noticing that the baby does not have his blanket wrapped around him, sets about putting that right . . .

He starts on one side and with a single swift movement covers the youngster’s legs before moving further along the sofa.

The pooch then begins flicking more of the blanket towards the baby so that he is completely covered before he then uses his nose to tuck him in. (Read more from “Baby’s Best Friend! Pet Labrador Adopts the Role of Mom in This Adorable Video” HERE)

Miracle: How Jaxon, the Baby Given Days to Live When He Was Born With Most of His Skull Missing, Has Defied the Odds

Born with most of his brain and skull missing, baby Jaxon Emmett Buell was not expected to live. In fact his parents had been told to abort him when doctors discovered his condition.

But he has defied all odds – and now he has just celebrated his first birthday.

Baby Jaxon’s devout Christian parents, Brandon and Brittany Buell, were told by doctors that he had an extreme brain malformation, which meant he would probably not survive the pregnancy.

But Jax Strong – a nickname he has earned on social media – is now one years old. His inspirational story has captivated families across the U.S., with nearly 90,000 people ‘liking’ his page on Facebook and 18,000 people sharing his story.

Jaxon was diagnosed as having Anencephaly, a neural tube birth defect in which a child is born without parts of the brain and skull, but doctors were still unsure of how severe his condition would be. In Brazil, a blind woman was able to “see” her unborn son thanks to 3D printing technology. 30-year-old Tatiana Guerra is 20-weeks pregnant and never thought she would get the chance to see her son’s facial features. However, through touch, Guerra was able to feel her unborn babies face.

According to the Daily Mail, in a video created as part of a campaign for the diaper brand Huggies, Guerra asks her doctor if her son looks like her. The doctor responds: “If you could touch him, would that let you know what he’s like?” She said yes and then the doctor handed her a 3D-printed image wrapped in a white cloth and says: ‘That’s your son’.
