Ted Cruz Blasts Obama for Failing Venezuela: ‘Negotiating with Tyrants and Bullies Never Works’

Photo Credit: AP Photo/Fernando LlanoSen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, spoke out strongly in support of the political uprising in Venezuela and criticized President Obama for his history of “negotiating with tyrants and bullies” in the country.

Cruz criticized a State Department spokeswoman who explained Tuesday that the United States was open to closer engagement with the regime of President Nicolas Maduro.

“Negotiating with tyrants and bullies never works,” Cruz said, calling for the United States to demand the tyrannical government to stop oppressing its people and censoring the media.

As Obama’s Approval Rating Slips, Democrats are Avoiding Him

When President Obama goes abroad, world leaders come to meet him. When Obama travels at home these days, members of his own party often avoid him.

When Obama speaks Wednesday in St. Paul, Minn., on the economy, Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) “hopes he can join the President,” a spokesman for the former funnyman said. “But it’s uncertain if his schedule will allow for travel since the Senate is in session.”

“Maybe out of an abundance of caution Franken is hesitating to be in the state,” said prominent political handicapper Stuart Rothenberg.

Minnesota is a liberal state by national standards. But a poll this month by the state’s Star Tribune newspaper found Obama’s approval rating there had for the first time turned negative. Half of Gopher State respondents disapproved of Obama’s performance while 43% approved, his worst marks since his election.

Nationally, Democrats hold 55 Senate seats to Republicans’ 45. But most contested Senate races feature Democratic incumbents running states Obama didn’t carry.

Obama Mourns Passing of Harold Ramis, Not Shirley Temple Black

Photo Credit: AP Photo/Jason DeCrowThere are many things to criticize President Obama for — I won’t even list them since you know what they are — but give him credit when he issues a statement about a famous citizen who has passed.

Obama on Tuesday released a statement regarding the death of Harold Ramis, the actor, writer and director who was responsible for such classics as “Ghostbusters” and “Caddyshack.”

“Michelle and I were saddened to hear of the passing of Harold Ramis, one of America’s greatest satirists, and like so many other comedic geniuses, a proud product of Chicago’s Second City,” Obama said.

Governors Erupt in Partisan Dispute at White House

Photo Credit: AP Photo/Charles DharapakThe nation’s governors emerged from a meeting with President Barack Obama on Monday claiming harmony, only to immediately break into an on-camera partisan feud in front of the West Wing.

Louisiana Republican Gov. Bobby Jindal lashed out first, saying if Obama were serious about growing the economy he would approve the Keystone XL pipeline project and take other executive actions.

Instead, Jindal said, Obama “seems to be waving the white flag of surrender” on the economy by focusing on raising the federal minimum wage to $10.10, up from $7.25. “The Obama economy is now the minimum wage economy. I think we can do better than that,” Jindal said.

Jindal’s statements were the kind that Republicans often make on television appearances or at partisan events, but don’t usually come from potential presidential candidates standing yards from the Oval Office. Other governors had been instead expressing wide agreement and appreciation for the president’s time. As Jindal spoke, some of his colleagues began shaking their heads, and Hawaii Democratic Gov. Neil Abercrombie began audibly mumbling to others around him.

Connecticut Democratic Gov. Dannel Malloy took over the microphone from Jindal and responded sharply, “Wait a second, until a few moments ago we were going down a pretty cooperative road. So let me just say that we don’t all agree that moving Canadian oil through the United States is necessarily the best thing for the United States economy.”

In South Carolina, Clinton Forces Try to Tap Obama Magic (+video)

Photo Credit: CNNTo hear some tell it, the 2008 South Carolina primary clash between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton was a few steps away from a full-blown race riot.

“It was unbelievable down here in 2007 and 2008,” said Bridget Tripp, a Democratic organizer from Lexington who supported Obama in that year’s primary. “Bill Clinton was going through downtown Columbia calling Barack Obama a racist.”

It never got that bad, of course. But in the runup to the contest and in its aftermath, the Clinton campaign scrambled to explain away comments that rankled the black community: Hillary Clinton seeming to downplay Martin Luther King Jr.’s role in passing the Civil Rights Act, Bill Clinton’s biting characterization of Obama’s campaign as “the biggest fairy tale I’ve ever seen” and a range of remarks from Clinton allies that seemed to belittle Obama’s achievements.

Bill Clinton’s remarks in particular went over so poorly that South Carolina Rep. James Clyburn, then the state’s highest-ranking African-American in Congress, went on national television and told the former president to “chill.” The morning after Obama’s crushing 28-point victory, Bill Clinton waved it off in glib terms, comparing Obama to Jesse Jackson, just another black candidate with black support.

The loss was a stinging defeat for the Clintons, a Southern power couple who viewed their longstanding friendships in the African-American community as crucial bulwark against any Democratic foe.

Media Expert Tim Graham: Fallon Biased for Obama (+video)

Photo Credit: APNew “Tonight” show host Jimmy Fallon is a “complete tool” for President Barack Obama and the Democrats, says Tim Graham, director of media analysis for the Media Research Center.

Fallon took over from former “Tonight” host Jay Leno, and former “Saturday Night Live” star Seth Meyers has now replaced Fallon as the “Late Night” host. Fallon’s and Meyers’ political leanings have been evident right from the start, Graham said on “The Steve Malzberg Show” on Newsmax TV.

Noting that Fallon is a big gain for Democrats, Graham said, “He’s a funny guy, people love him, but he is a complete tool for the Obamas. Obama can invite himself onto the Jimmy Fallon show and, of course, the Seth Meyers show starts tonight. One of his first guests, Joe Biden. Jimmy Fallon gets Michelle Obama, but Seth Meyers can only get Joe Biden,” Graham said Monday.

Bachmann: ‘Lawless’ Obama ‘Rules by Tweet,’ Congress Must Have Support from Voters to Impeach Him

What will be President Barack Obama’s legacy after he leaves office?

According to former 2012 Republican presidential candidate Michelle Bachmann, Obama set precedents that will lead to the “establishment of lawlessness in the United States.”

“From stem to stern, this president has said, ‘The law doesn’t apply to me,’” Bachmann said in an exclusive interview with The Daily Caller. “It’s almost like when a parent raises a child with no rules. The child gets to do what ever they want to do; there is no discipline and no standards. The president has decided that the laws don’t apply to him. It’s as though the Magna Carta never existed.

“He’s brought the American people to think that some how he has been given a magic scepter that allows him to change the law into what ever Barack Obama wants the law to be, which is the opposite of our form of government,” Bachmann continued. “No man is above the law, including the president of the United States.”

Bachmann pointed to Obama’s autocratic modifications of Obamacare as evidence of lawlessness.

Senior UK Defense Advisor: Obama Is “Chronically Incapable” Of Military Strategy

Photo Credit: The Right News On the heels of former Defense Secretary Robert Gates stinging assessment of Barack Obama’s leadership ability when it comes to our military, a Senior UK defense advisor has said that President Obama is “chronically incapable” of being a military leader and he, “has no sense of what he wants to do in the world…”

Read more below from The Daily Beast:

Sir Hew Strachan, an expert on the history of war, says that the president’s strategic failures in Afghanistan and Syria have crippled America’s position in the world.

President Obama is “chronically incapable” of military strategy and falls far short of his predecessor George W. Bush, according to one of Britain’s most senior military advisors.

Sir Hew Strachan, an advisor to the Chief of the Defense Staff, told The Daily Beast that the United States and Britain were guilty of total strategic failure in Iraq and Afghanistan, and Obama’s attempts to intervene on behalf of the Syrian rebels “has left them in a far worse position than they were before.”

Obama on Keystone Pipeline: ‘We Only Have One Planet’ (+video)

Photo Credit: AP Photo/Jacquelyn MartinPresident Obama conceded Wednesday that the lengthy process of evaluating whether to move ahead with the Keystone XL oil pipeline was probably viewed by Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper as “a little too laborious” but added that economic growth had to be balanced against environmental concerns, as “we only have one planet.”

In a speech last June Obama said that he would not approve the pipeline from Canada if the project would “significantly exacerbate the problem of carbon pollution.”

During a joint press conference with Harper – a strong supporter of Keystone – and Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto, a Canadian reporter recalled those words and noted that a State Department environmental review has found that the pipeline would not have a significant effect on climate change.

What more needed to be done, the reporter asked.
