Obama Takes a Subtle Presidents Day Jab at Trump’s Best Argument for 2020; Here’s What Trump Had to Say

By Washington Examiner. Goodwill between presidents took a back seat on Presidents Day 2020.

Former President Barack Obama appeared to take a rare political jab at his successor in a tweet Monday that cast aspersions on President Trump’s claims that he deserves credit for recent economic gains, a key reelection platform for the 45th president. . .

The tweet was a rare swipe at Trump by Obama, who has largely stayed out of the 2020 election cycle. Obama has yet to endorse any candidate seeking the Democratic presidential nomination, but his input about the economy nonetheless provides ammo to the entire field as they seek to counter Trump’s 2020 campaign, which has been touting record economic growth in the face of controversies such as the Russia investigation and impeachment.

During the Great Recession, which began under President George W. Bush, the unemployment rate surged and peaked at around 10% in 2010 before it began a steady fall under Obama. The downward trend has continued under Trump. The unemployment rate as of January sits at a low 3.6%, with 225,000 new jobs added that month.

Trump often touts the low unemployment numbers while on the campaign trail, but Democrats and other critics have pointed out that the decline in unemployment started while Obama was president. (Read more from “Obama Takes a Subtle Presidents Day Jab at Trump’s Best Argument for 2020” HERE)

Obama Attempts to Take Credit for Current Economy, Here’s What Trump Had to Say

By Daily Wire. President Donald Trump responded to former President Barack Obama trying to take credit for America’s booming economy on Monday by calling him a con artist. . .

The Wall Street Journal asked 68 economists who was responsible for the booming economy and the economists suggested that it was “President Trump, and not Obama, who should be taking a bow.” . . .

The unemployment rates for blacks, Hispanics, and Asians have all hit all-time record lows under the Trump administration and more than 6.2 million Americans have been lifted off of food stamps.

“The surge of minority women getting jobs has helped push the U.S. workforce across a historic threshold. For the first time, most new hires of prime working age (25 to 54) are people of color, according to a Washington Post analysis of data the Labor Department began collecting in the 1970s,” The Washington Post reported. “Minority hires overtook white hires last year. Women are predominantly driving this trend, which is so powerful that even many women who weren’t thinking about working — because they were in school, caring for kids or at home for other reasons — are being lured into employment, according to The Post’s analysis.” (Read more from “Obama Attempts to Take Credit for Current Economy, Here’s What Trump Had to Say” HERE)

Trump Mocks Elizabeth Warren’s ‘Really Bad Night’

By New York Post. President Donald Trump weighed in on the New Hampshire primary as results trickled in Tuesday night — mocking Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s showing, ‘King’ Tom Steyer and the Democratic candidates who dropped out.

Trump knocked the Massachusetts lawmaker as results indicated neither she, nor Joe Biden, would be winning any of the Granite State’s 24 delegates.

“Elizabeth Warren, sometimes referred to as Pocahontas, is having a really bad night. I think she is sending signals that she wants out,” Trump tweeted.

“Calling for unity is her way of getting there, going home, and having a ‘nice cold beer’ with her husband!” Trump added.

Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi Join Effort to Take President Trump Down in 2020

By Washington Examiner. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and former President Barack Obama have joined a 2020 “unity” movement. And it’s deeply dividing.

The goal: “Defeat Donald Trump and his Republican enablers.”

Fresh off the House’s impeachment vote of the president, Pelosi has penned a fundraising letter for the Democratic Unity Fund that aims to raise millions to defeat Trump, maintain Democratic control of the House, and turn the Republican Senate blue.

“We all know what’s at stake in this election. Right now, we have a president who clearly has no respect for our Constitution, our democracy, or the rule of law. Every day he makes more false promises while his policies continue to hurt hardworking Americans in every corner of our country. We simply cannot afford four more years of a Donald Trump presidency,” she penned.

“That’s why President Obama and I are proud to work with the DNC to ensure that our future nominee and Democratic candidates running for every level of office have the resources they will need to win back the White House, flip the Senate, and hold our valuable House majority,” she added. Trump 2020 Campaign Raised $46 Million in Final Quarter of 2019

By Newsweek. Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. on New Year’s Day announced that the president’s re-election campaign had raised $46 million in the last quarter of 2019—making the 4th quarter the campaign’s best since the beginning of the 2020 election cycle.

Despite being impeached by the Democrat-led House in mid-December, Trump’s campaign ended the year with $102.7 million cash on hand. The amount only represents fundraising for Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. and does not include finances raised by the Republican National Committee (RNC) or any other joint fundraising committees. The fourth quarter ran between October 1 and December 31.

“President Trump’s unprecedented fundraising is testament to his wide grassroots support and his stellar record of achievement on behalf of the American people,” Brad Parscale, the manager for Trump 2020 campaign, said in a statement emailed to Newsweek.

“Democrats and the media have been in a sham impeachment frenzy and the President’s campaign only got bigger and stronger with our best fundraising quarter this cycle,” he added. “The President’s war chest and grassroots army make his re-election campaign an unstoppable juggernaut.” (Read more from “Trump 2020 Campaign Raised $46 Million in Final Quarter of 2019” HERE)

Biden Wants to Nominate Obama to the Supreme Court

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden told reporters on Saturday he would nominate former President Barack Obama to the Supreme Court “if he’d take it.”

“Biden asked here in Washington, Iowa, if he would ever nominate former President Obama to serve on the Supreme Court. ‘If he’d take it, yes,’” reported Wall Street Journal reporter Ken Thomas on Twitter. . .

On the campaign trail, Biden has on several occasions mentioned his loyalty to Obama including paying tribute to the former 44th president on “National Best Friends Day.” (Read more from “Biden Wants to Nominate Obama to the Supreme Court” HERE)

Is He Talking About Biden? Obama Says World Problems Are Due to ‘Old Men Not Getting out of the Way’

Former President Barack Obama said Monday that most of the world’s problems are due to “old men not getting out of the way.”

Obama spoke at a private event on leadership in Singapore where he said that many issues the world faces stem from older men not knowing when to step down.

“If you look at the world and look at the problems, it’s usually old people, usually old men, not getting out of the way,” he said, the BBC reported.

“It is important for political leaders to try and remind themselves that you are there to do a job, but you are not there for life, you are not there in order to prop up your own sense of self importance or your own power,” the former president said.

Obama’s critique of elderly men in politics comes as the former president continues to refrain from endorsing former Vice President Joe Biden for president of the U.S. Biden has attempted to explain Obama’s silence by telling reporters in April that he asked Obama not to endorse him. Report: Obama Warned He Would Intervene to Stop Bernie, Had Cutting Words for Biden

Former President Barack Obama once warned he would intervene to stop Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., from winning the Democratic presidential nomination, according to a new report that sheds light on Obama’s personal views of the jam-packed primary field with no clear front-runner.

Obama has largely stayed on the sidelines to date, refraining from any endorsements though he has issued general warnings to the party to avoid calls for radical upheaval in their policy pitches. These warnings were seen as a swipe at candidates like Sens. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and Sanders.

But a new Politico Magazine report gives a clearer picture of what Obama is worried about — claiming he has said in private he’d speak out against Sanders if it looked like he could actually win.

“Back when Sanders seemed like more of a threat than he does now, Obama said privately that if Bernie were running away with the nomination, Obama would speak up to stop him,” the report says. An Obama spokesperson, however, reportedly noted that the former president has stated that he would get behind the Democratic nominee regardless of who it is. . .

“I can’t really confirm that,” the adviser said, regarding the possibility of Obama trying to stop Sanders. “He hasn’t said that directly to me. The only reason I’m hesitating at all is because, yeah, if Bernie were running away with it, I think maybe we would all have to say something. But I don’t think that’s likely. It’s not happening.” (Read more from “Report: Obama Warned He Would Intervene to Stop Bernie, Had Cutting Words for Biden” HERE)

Senate Republicans Begin to Dig into Biden’s Sketchy Ukraine Dealings

Republican Senators Chuck Grassley, Iowa, and Ron Johnson, Wisc., want some answers on how much, if any, influence Hunter Biden’s job at a Ukrainian energy company had on decisions made by the State Department under President Barack Obama.

In a letter dated Wednesday, the two senators asked Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for a wide range of records to “better understand what actions, if any, the Obama administration took to ensure that policy decisions relating to Ukraine and Burisma were not improperly influenced by the employment and financial interests of family members.”

“In April 2014, Vice President Biden reportedly became the ‘public face of the administration’s handling of Ukraine,’” the lawmakers write. “Around the same time, the Vice President’s son, Hunter Biden, and his business associate, Devon Archer, both began serving on the board of Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian energy company.”

Hunter Biden’s former employment at Burisma is at the center of the current impeachment debate raging in Washington, D.C. At a 2018 Council on Foreign Relations event, Biden said that he — while still vice president — pressured then-Ukranain President Petro Poroshenko to fire then-Ukrainian Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin while Shokin was leading an investigation into the company by threatening to withhold $1 billion in U.S. loan guarantees. House Democrats’ impeachment probe has examined whether or not president Trump pressured Ukrainian authorities to look into the Burisma investigation with military aid.

In their Wednesday letter, Grassley and Johnson refer to a recent story from reporter John Solomon saying that, during the 2016 election cycle, a U.S. representative for Burisma — Karen Tramontano — tried to set up a meeting with Undersecretary of State Catherine A. Novelli to discuss ending the corruption allegations against the company.

“Although it is not clear if Under Secretary Novelli met with Karen Tramontano on March 1, 2016, as planned, later that month Tramontano and other members of Burisma’s legal team reportedly met with Ukrainian prosecutors,” the letter notes, referring to another report from Solomon from September. “According to what appears to be contemporaneous notes by one of those Ukrainian prosecutors, during that meeting, Burisma’s legal team apologized about what they alleged to be ‘false information’ promoted by the U.S. Government about the prosecutors’ handling of the investigation of Burisma.”

The two also note other documents that “show other meetings that Burisma board members Hunter Biden and Devon Archer scheduled with high-ranking State Department officials” in 2015. The letter also points out that “just one day after Tramontano was scheduled to meet with Under Secretary Novelli about Burisma, Devon Archer was scheduled to meet with Secretary of State John Kerry.”

The lawmakers then ask the department to provide “all State Department records relating to Hunter Biden, Devon Archer, [their business partner] Christopher Heinz, and Karen Tramontano” as well as “all State Department records relating to Burisma Holdings” and those related to some of Biden’s other business ventures. They also ask whether or not the State Department has asked the Office of the Legal Adviser or the Office of the Inspector General to “review potential concerns and conflicts of interest related to Hunter Biden’s work for Burisma while Vice President Biden reportedly acted as the United States’ top official in Ukraine? If not, why not?”

Johnson is the chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, and Grassley chairs the Senate Finance Committee. The senators asked that the department provide the information in two weeks, giving a deadline of November 20. Obama’s Ukraine Ambassador Allegedly Lied Under Oath in Impeachment Inquiry, Congressman Suggests

Marie Yovanovitch, who was appointed to be the U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine by former President Barack Obama, allegedly made false statements under oath during her October 11 closed-door testimony in House Democrats’ impeachment inquiry.

“Before the contents of the whistleblower complaint were known publicly, a Democratic congressional staffer contact the former American ambassador to Ukraine to discuss what the staffer described as ‘quite delicate and time sensitive questions,’” Fox News’ Tucker Carlson exclusively reported.

“This show has obtained exclusively an email for that Democratic staffer for the House Foreign Affairs Committee sent by private email to the former American ambassador Marie Yovanovitch,” Carlson continued. “Yovanovitch, you know, is a key player in the Democrats’ impeachment probe and was recalled from her post in Ukraine by President Trump in May 2019 following allegations of serious partisanship and political bias.”

The email Carlson obtained states:

I’m writing to see if you would have time to meet up for a chat — in particular, I’m hoping to discuss some Ukraine-related oversight questions we are exploring. I’d appreciate the change to ground-truth a few pieces of information with you, some of which are quite delicate/time-sensitive and, thus, we want to make sure we get them right.

Obama Won’t Endorse Biden, but He’ll Endorse ‘Racist’ Trudeau

Former President Barack Obama took the unusual step of making an endosement in a foreign election Wednesday, giving his unqualified support to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau — but he still hasn’t endorsed his former Vice President, Joe Biden, for the 2020 Democratic nomination. . .

“I was proud to work with Justin Trudeau as President. He’s a hard-working, effective leader who takes on big issues like climate change. The world needs his progressive leadership now, and I hope our neighbors to the north support him for another term,” Obama wrote.

The Canadian election is next Monday and so far, Trudeau’s Liberal Party, which holds a majority in Parliament now, is neck and neck with the Conservatives. If the Liberal Party doesn’t pull out a victory, Trudeau will lose his status as Prime Minister.

Canadian state television is predicting that neither party will win a majority and that whomever serves as Prime Minister will preside over a coalition government — something Justin Trudeau doesn’t necessarily want to do. His closest allies in the election are the New Democrats Party and the Green Party and both have taken shots at Trudeau in recent weeks as the election draws to a close. WATCH: Susan Rice Blasts Trump for Keeping Transcript on Top-Secret Server — Then Admits Obama Did the Same

Former national security adviser Susan Rice slammed President Donald Trump for storing the notes from his phone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on a top-secret server — then admitted the Obama administration stored communications on the same server.

Speaking at the Texas Tribune Festival, Rice tore into the Trump administration for “unprecedented” actions, claiming officials have attempted to “bury” information.

“What [the Trump administration] did instead of storing it in the normal system, which is protected and classified, even though there was no classified substance in that actual discussion,” Rice said. “Instead of putting it where it normally resides, they hid it on a very highly sensitive, highly compartmented server that very few people in the U.S. government have access to in order to bury it.”

Then Rice was asked by the moderator how often the Obama administration did what she is criticizing the Trump administration for doing.

“We never moved them over unless they were legitimately, in the contents, classified,” she admitted
