Meh: New Poll Shows Voters Aren’t Thrilled Obama Is Back

President Obama officially jumped back into politics last week ahead of the 2018 midterm elections. By berating Republicans and President Trump during a speech at the University of Illinois, the former President is trying to get voters to the polls in November.

“As a fellow citizen I’m here to deliver a simple message and that is that you need to vote, because our democracy depends on it,” Obama said. “Just a glance at recent headlines should tell you that this moment really is different, the stakes really are higher.”

But according to a new poll from Rasmussen Reports, voters aren’t exactly thrilled Obama is back.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 38% of Likely U.S. Voters say they are more likely to vote for a candidate whom Obama campaigns for, while 36% say they are less likely. Twenty-four percent (24%) feel an Obama endorsement has no impact on their vote.

Sixty-five percent (65%) of Democrats say they are more likely to vote for a candidate endorsed by Obama, while 57% of Republicans are less likely to vote for such a candidate. Among voters not affiliated with either political party, 26% say more likely, 36% say less likely and 35% say about the same.

Obama Reminds Us Why Donald Trump Is President

“How hard can that be? Saying that Nazis are bad,” former President Barack Obama asked a crowd in Illinois over the weekend. Well, probably no harder than saying the words “radical Islam,” I imagine. Or maybe it’s slightly less difficult than not sending billions of dollars to Holocaust-denying terror regimes that have both the means and intent to murder Jews—in 2018, not 1942. And it’s definitely a lot easier than not meeting, posing, then smiling for a picture with Louis Farrakhan. But thanks for the lecture.

Obama may well find the presence of a few hundred pathetic white supremacists more perilous than a deadly worldwide ideological movement with millions of adherents. But just as Obama’s sins do not excuse President Trump’s inexplicable answer to the Charlottesville riot, Trump’s words don’t excuse the most divisive modern president, a man whose unilateralism and contempt for the process and the Constitution helped create the environment America now find itself in.

While Obama’s self-reverential speech was crammed with revisionism, the most jaw-dropping contention from the former president was probably a defense of his record on free speech: “I complained plenty about Fox News,” the scandal-ridden Obama explained, “but you never heard me threaten to shut them down, or call them ‘enemies of the people.’”

That’s the thing. We often hear Trump’s hyperbolic, and sometimes destructive, attacks on the press. Thankfully, as of yet the president hasn’t applied the power of the state to inhibit anyone’s free expression. And this is no thanks to liberals’ eight-year efforts to empower the executive branch when that was useful to them.

It’s worth remembering that it was Obama who called out the Supreme Court during a State of the Union speech for defending the First Amendment in the Citizens United case, and his allies who still argue that state should be able to ban political documentaries — and, yes, books. Let’s also not forget Obama’s Internal Revenue Service admitted then apologized for cracking down on conservative political groups. It was the Obama administration that blamed the Benghazi attack on free speech, apologizing to tyrannies for the excesses of free expression, and then, for good measure, threw the amateurish videomaker behind “The Innocence of Muslims” into jail. Obama Speech: The 5 Most Spectacularly Hypocritical Moments in His Anti-Trump Tirade

Barack Obama officially began campaigning for the Democrats Friday with his most antagonistic speech yet, aimed squarely at President Donald Trump and the Republican Party.

Arguing that President Trump is “a symptom, not the cause” of the politics of division and resentment, Obama waylaid the GOP, calling on the #Resistance to vote to “restore some semblance of sanity to our politics.”

But several times in his speech, Obama fired criticisms at Trump that are directly applicable to things Obama did. His teeth-grinding hypocrisy and lack of self-awareness were front and center in moments like these:

Who’s the “demagogue?”

Obama accused Trump and the Republican Party of engaging in a politics of division and “fear and resentment.”

Even though your generation is the most diverse in history with a greater acceptance and celebration of our differences than ever before, those are the kinds of conditions that are ripe for exploitation by politicians who have no compunction and no shame about tapping into America’s dark history of racial and ethnic and religious division. Appealing to tribe, appealing to fear, pitting one group against another, telling people that order and security will be restored if it weren’t for those who don’t look like us or don’t sound like us or don’t pray like we do, that’s an old playbook.

It’s as old as time. And in a healthy democracy, it doesn’t work. Our antibodies kick in, and people of goodwill from across the political spectrum call out the bigots and the fear mongers and work to compromise and get things done and promote the better angels of our nature. But when there’s a vacuum in our democracy, when we don’t vote, when we take our basic rights and freedoms for granted, when we turn away and stop paying attention and stop engaging and stop believing and look for the newest diversion, the electronic versions of bread and circuses, then other voices fill the void.

A politics of fear and resentment and retrenchment takes hold and demagogues promise simple fixes to complex problems. No promise to fight for the little guy, even as they cater to the wealthiest and most powerful. No promise to clean up corruption and then plunder away. They start undermining norms that ensure accountability and try to change the rules to entrench their power further. They appeal to racial nationalism that’s barely veiled, if veiled at all. Sound familiar?

This, from the 2008 candidate who attacked blue-collar Americans as “bitter” and saying they “cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren’t like them.” This from the president who called free speech by groups that opposed him a “threat to our democracy.” This from a president who said his political opponents were “unpatriotic,” or “un-American,” or “crazies.” President Obama was the definition of the politics of resentment and demagoguery.

Taking credit for Trump’s economy?

Obama criticized the booming Trump economy and argued that he should get the credit for the advances made by Trump’s tax cuts and regulatory repeal.

Ten years ago this week a crisis that resulted in the worst recession in any of our lifetimes and caused years of hardship for the American people. For many of your parents, for many of your families. Most of you weren’t old enough to fully focus on what was going on at the time, but when I came into office in 2009, we were losing 800,000 jobs a month. 800,000. Millions of people were losing their homes. Many were worried we were entering into a second great depression.

So we worked hard to end that crisis but also to break some of these longer term trends. The actions we took during that crisis returned the economy to healthy growth and initiated the longest streak of job creation on record. And we covered another 20 million Americans with health insurance and cut our deficits by more than half, partly by making sure that people like me who have been given such amazing opportunities by this country pay our fair share of taxes to help folks coming up behind me.

And by the time I left office, household income was near its all-time high, and the uninsured rate hit an all-time low, poverty rates were falling. I mention this just so when you hear how great the economy is doing right now, let’s just remember when this recovery started. I’m glad it’s continued, but when you hear about this economic miracle that’s been going on, when the job numbers come out, monthly job numbers and suddenly Republicans are saying it’s a miracle, I have to kind of remind them, actually, those job numbers are the same as they were in 2015 and 2016 and — anyway. I digress.

President Obama presided over the worst economic recovery since the Great Depression. His health care legislation, Obamacare, drove up insurance costs for millions of Americans. His deficits were “halved” only after Obama passed an $800 billion fiscal stimulus for jobs that weren’t shovel-ready in his first year in office, ballooning the deficit to historic new heights. The national debt grew from $11 trillion to $20 trillion under Obama’s presidency. And critics of Obama’s pathetic economic numbers were constantly told his below-average two percent GDP growth was the “new normal,” an idea President Trump is busy proving wrong.

Criticizing Republicans on Russia?

Lecturing Republicans on what it means to be a conservative Republican, Obama said the Trump administration was “undermining our alliances, cozying up to Russia.”

They’re undermining our alliances, cozying up to Russia. What happened to the Republican party? Its central organizing principle in foreign policy was the fight against communism, and now they’re cozying up to the former head of the KGB.

Actively blocking legislation that would defend our elections from Russian attack. What happened?

Obama may not be aware, but “the 1980s are now calling to ask for their foreign policy back because the Cold War’s been over for 20 years.” And how’d his administration’s “reset” with Russia turn out? Russia annexed Crimea, invaded Ukraine, meddled in Syria, and interfered in the United States election in 2016. Don’t forget that Obama’s team was warned about Russian interference in 2014 and did nothing to prevent it.

Restoring “honesty” and “lawfulness” in government?

Making a plea for bipartisan resistance to Trump, Obama said something incredible.

But I am here to tell you that even if you don’t agree with me or Democrats on policy, even if you believe in more libertarian economic theories, even if you are an evangelical and our position on certain social issues is a bridge too far, even if you think my assessment of immigration is mistaken and the Democrats aren’t serious enough about immigration enforcement, I’m here to tell you that you should still be concerned with our current course and should still want to see a restoration of honesty and decency and lawfulness in our government.

It should not be Democratic or Republican. It should not be a partisan issue to say that we do not pressure the attorney general or the FBI to use the criminal justice system as a cudgel to punish our political opponents. Or to explicitly call on the attorney general to protect members of our own party from prosecution because an election happens to be coming up. I’m not making that up. That’s not hypothetical.

It shouldn’t be Democratic or Republican to say that we don’t threaten the freedom of the press because they say things or publish stories we don’t like. I complained plenty about Fox News, but you never heard me threaten to shut them down or call them enemies of the people. It shouldn’t be democratic or Republican to say we don’t target certain groups of people based on what they look like or how they pray.

“Honesty and decency and lawfulness in our government.” President Obama was a lawless president. He used his “pen and phone” to circumvent the will of Congress. He sicced his IRS on conservative organizations for opposing his agenda. He ran a gun-running “Fast and Furious” program that put illegal firearms in the hands of violent criminals. His administration spied on Fox News reporter James Rosen. His communications director Anita Dunn said the Obama White House would treat Fox News “the way we would treat an opponent.” Obama lied about keeping your doctor, lied about the Iran nuclear deal, lied about NSA spying, lied about how easy it is to buy a gun, and lied repeatedly throughout his presidency.

And of course, Obama’s administration abused its power to spy on the Trump campaign, interfere with an election, and use police state tactics against duly elected president.

Bringing people together?

Here’s Obama trying to portray himself as the elder statesman in the room, reaching across the aisle and bringing America together:

I’ll be honest, sometimes I get into arguments with progressive friends about what the current political movement requires. There are well-meaning folks passionate about social justice who think things have gotten so bad, the lines have been so starkly drawn, that we have to fight fire with fire. We have to do the same things to the Republicans that they do to adopt their tactics. Say whatever works. Make up stuff about the other.

I don’t agree with that. It’s not because I’m soft. It’s not because I’m interested in promoting an empty bipartisanship. I don’t agree with it because eroding our civic institutions and our civic trust and making people angrier and yelling at each other and making people cynical about government, that always works better for those who don’t believe in the power of collective action.

You don’t need an effective government or a robust press or reasoned debate to work when all you’re concerned about is maintaining power. In fact, the more cynical people are about government, the angrier and more dispirited they are about the prospects for change, the more likely the powerful are able to maintain their power.

But we believe that in order to move this country forward, to actually solve problems and make people’s lives better, we need a well-functioning government. We need our civic institutions to work. We need cooperation among people of different political persuasions. And to make that work, we have to restore our faith in democracy. We have to bring people together, not tear them apart. We need majorities in Congress and state legislatures who are serious about governing and want to bring about real change and improvements in people’s lives. And we won’t win people over by calling them names or dismissing entire chunks of the country as racist or sexist or homophobic.

Whenever the opportunity arose to unite the country, President Obama instead offered politicized lectures that divided America. Obama implied those who disagreed with his policies were racist. He told Latino voters to “punish” their “enemies.” He attacked Christians on Easter. His administration ignored or downplayed violence at Black Lives Matter protests. He accused Republicans of being the “most potent recruitment tool” for ISIS. He said a vote for Mitt Romney in 2012 would “turn back the clock 50 years for women, gays and immigrants.” But now he’s “bipartisan” and telling Democrats not to dismiss Trump supporters “as racist or sexist or homophobic.”

President Obama wanted to motivate Democrats to go vote in November and retake Congress to stop Trump’s presidency. Instead, he reminded America just how much better off the country is now that he is not president and why we need to keep Democrats out of power. Obama’s CDC Director Arrested, Accused of Sexual Abuse – Report

Tom Frieden, the former director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention under President Barack Obama, was arrested in New York City on Friday on charges of sexual abuse and harassment.

Frieden, 57, allegedly groped a woman inside his Brooklyn apartment, the New York Post reported.

Frieden, who led the CDC from 2009 to 2017, turned himself in for allegedly grabbing a 55-year-old woman’s backside in October 2017, police told the Post.

“He was arrested for forcible touching, for sexual abuse and harassment, for touching her buttocks without permission,” a New York police spokeswoman said.

The Washington Post reported that Frieden headed up the CDC longer than any director since the 1970s.

He oversaw the agency during the outbreaks of the Ebola and Zika epidemics, as well as the 2009 H1N1 swine flu pandemic.

Frieden resigned his position after President Donald Trump took office.

In an outgoing interview with The Washington Post, the doctor spoke proudly of his work at the CDC.

“Fundamentally, Americans are healthier and safer because of the work CDC has done over the last eight years,” he said. “Americans are safer because we have better capacities in place, better infrastructure in place in this country and around the world to find threats early, stop them quickly and prevent them wherever possible.”

Frieden continued, “We’ve done that through laboratory work that looks at microbial genomics so we can stop outbreaks sooner. We’ve done that by training the next generation of public health specialists — more than 1,000 of them, fresh out of college and graduate school — deployed out to state and local governments. These people will be protecting Americans for decades to come.”

The Post asked what scared him the most.

“The biggest concern is always for an influenza pandemic. Even in a moderate flu year, (influenza) kills tens of thousands of Americans and sends hundreds of thousands to the hospital,” Frieden said.

“So flu, even in an average year, really causes a huge problem. And a pandemic really is the worst-case scenario. If you have something that spreads to a third of the population and can kill a significant proportion of those it affects, you have the makings of a major disaster.”

According to the Washington Examiner, since leaving the CDC, Frieden has worked at a nonprofit group called Vital Strategies, in charge of the group’s Resolve to Save Lives initiative.

The nonprofit’s website states its goal is to “save 100 million lives by implementing proven solutions to prevent heart disease and stroke, the world’s leading cause of death. And we are helping the world prevent the next disease outbreak by catalyzing country action to find, stop and prevent new disease threats.”

The effort is being funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. (For more from the author of “Obama’s CDC Director Arrested, Accused of Sexual Abuse – Report” please click HERE)

The Obama Admin Interfered in Two Elections, and Crickets

Thursday on his nationally syndicated radio program, LevinTV host Mark Levin pointed out the hypocrisy of the Democrats’ hysteria over foreign interference in American elections.

Levin reminded listeners that the State Department under the Obama administration used taxpayer dollars to build a campaign to oust Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the Israeli parliamentary election.

“Now if the Israeli government had a Robert Mueller, I suppose they could’ve indicted Obama … for interfering with their election. Would anybody have had a problem with that?” Levin said.

Listen:

“Here we have the Obama administration knowingly interfering in an election in Israel, and providing $350,000 of our tax dollars. Shortly thereafter, ladies and gentlemen, the Obama administration would interfere with our election. … Here we have the Obama administration caught red-handed, and I do mean red-handed, and nothing,” Levin said.

Levin added that no Obama official, including Obama himself, has ever been held to account for that interference.

“History is a bitch to the Left, isn’t it? … They hate it, unless of course they can spin it. … There are no lengths to which the Left won’t go to achieve its outcome.” (For more from the author of “The Obama Admin Interfered in Two Elections, and Crickets” please click HERE)

CNN Host Wonders Why Obama Is Partying While Dems Are in Disarray

Former President Barack Obama and wife Michelle were spotted dancing at a Beyoncé and Jay-Z concert over the weekend in Maryland. CNN’s Jake Tapper thought it was pretty bad timing. The Democratic Party is currently dealing with a schism that has pitted moderates or mainstream lawmakers against young progressives. Statistics show that the party is well outpaced by Republicans on the national and local level. Yet, there was Obama dancing the night away.

Does Tapper have a point? Should Obama be doing more to address his party’s concerns? They could certainly use some help. When Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez defeated Rep. Joe Crowley in shocking fashion in New York, top Democrats panicked. Some, like House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, tried to downplay the young progressive’s victory. Sure, Ocasio-Cortez may represent those radical New Yorkers in the 14th congressional district, but the country as a whole? Don’t get “carried away,” Pelosi said. WATCH: Senior Obama Official Caught Doing Something REPULSIVE to Random Woman; Conviction Hidden!

By Daily Wire. New surveillance footage released on Friday shows one of Obama’s former senior officials taking a picture up a woman’s skirt in July 2016 at a D.C. Metro station.

William Mendoza, who was Obama’s director of the White House Initiative on American Indian and Alaska Native Education, pleaded guilty to a single count of attempted voyeurism after he resigned from his position in November 2016, the Daily Mail reported earlier this year.

Mendoza, who was making $140,000 a year working for Obama, was only given a 90-day suspended prison sentence in addition to a $100 fine and one-year probation.

CNN Gets Slapped With Reality Asking About the Last Time a President Sided With America’s Enemies

It’s as if the past eight years never happened. In the wake of the Russia collusion hysteria engulfing the Democratic Party and the liberal media, the Left is becoming obsessed with this notion that Donald Trump committed treason. It reached a boiling point after Trump’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki. It was not Trump’s best moment. There could have been legitimate criticism lobbed his way. Instead, we got a meltdown of epic proportions. The outrage machine was set to 11. So, as Russia-Trump-Treason Theater reached its 90th Act, in which not a shred of solid evidence to corroborate collusion has been found, CNN decided to ask “what happened the last time a President chose America’s enemies over its friends?” The piece discusses Reconstruction and Andrew Johnson, as if we have to go that far to find what this person thinks is an example of an American president chose our enemies over our allies. Uh, do you remember Barack Obama and the Iran deal? Yeah, that seems like a prime example:

Yeah, that’s another stepping of the rake right there, but let’s go into this piece for a little bit. It’s quite…entertaining:

Donald Trump likes to compare himself to Andrew Jackson, but the Andrew he really resembles is Andrew Johnson. What they have in common are delusions of personal grandeur and a tainted ascent to the presidency. Trump was elected by a minority of the American electorate, with help from the vagaries of the Electoral College system and from considerable Russian interference.

Johnson became president thanks to an assassin’s bullet. While Johnson immodestly compared himself to Jesus and Moses, Trump claims he is the best at everything, even boasting recently on Twitter that his popularity among Republicans exceeds that of Abraham Lincoln.

Obama Knowingly Funded Designated Al-Qaeda Affiliate

By Daily Wire. A new report released on Wednesday revealed that the Obama administration knowingly provided an Islamic terrorist-financing organization with hundreds of thousands of dollars despite the fact that the group had been designated as a terrorist-financing organization for a decade by the U.S. government.

Obama officials approved the release of well over $100,000 even after they were informed that the Khartoum-based Islamic Relief Agency (ISRA) was affiliated with Osama bin Laden and Maktab al-Khidamat (MK), which eventually became al-Qaeda.

ISRA, also referred to as the Islamic African Relief Agency (IARA), received a $200,000 taxpayer-funded grant from the Obama administration, which released at least $115,000 to the terrorist-financing organization. . .

World Vision had informed the USAID in 2014 that ISRA was on the designated terrorist organization list and subsequently had to wait for an assessment from the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) before they could receive the money.

OFAC confirmed in January 2015 that ISRA was a designated terrorist organization and rejected World Vision from obtaining “a license to engage in transactions with [ISRA].” (Read more from “Obama Knowingly Funded Designated Al-Qaeda Affiliate” HERE)

Obama Administration Knowingly Funded a Designated Al-Qaeda Affiliate

By National Review. The Middle East Forum has discovered that the Obama administration approved a grant of $200,000 of taxpayer money to an al-Qaeda affiliate in Sudan — a decade after the U.S. Treasury designated it as a terrorist-financing organization. More stunningly, government officials specifically authorized the release of at least $115,000 of this grant even after learning that it was a designated terror organization.

The story began in October 2004, when the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) designated the Khartoum-based Islamic Relief Agency (ISRA), also known as the Islamic African Relief Agency (IARA), as a terror-financing organization. It did so because of ISRA’s links to Osama bin Laden and his organization Maktab al-Khidamat (MK), the precursor of al-Qaeda.

According to the U.S. Treasury, in 1997 ISRA established formal cooperation with MK. By 2000, ISRA had raised $5 million for bin Laden’s group. The Treasury Department notes that ISRA officials even sought to help “relocate [bin Laden] to secure safe harbor for him.” It further reports that ISRA raised funds in 2003 in Western Europe specifically earmarked for Hamas suicide bombings.

The 2004 designation included all of ISRA’s branches, including a U.S. office called the Islamic American Relief Agency (IARA-USA). Eventually it became known that this American branch had illegally transferred over $1.2 million to Iraqi insurgents and other terror groups, including, reportedly, the Afghan terrorist Gulbuddin Hekmatyar. In 2010, the executive director of IARA-USA and a board member pled guilty to money-laundering, theft of public funds, conspiracy, and several other charges. Obama Says ‘Violent’ and ‘Bullying’ Men in Politics Are Having THIS IMPACT on Him

By The Blaze. Former president Barack Obama wants women to become more politically involved, saying Wednesday that “men have been getting on my nerves” lately.

Obama made the comments during the second day of his visit to South Africa, during a town hall before members of the African Leadership Academy in Johannesburg.

“Every day I read the newspaper and just think like ‘Brothers, what’s wrong with you guys?’” Obama said. “What’s wrong with us? We’re violent, we’re bullying. Just not handling our business.” . . .

Obama said that the increased inclusion and empowerment of women in politics would create better policy, both in Africa and in the world generally, and warned the students not to shy away from politics because of corruption or conflict. . .

“The one thing you can’t do is pretend that politics doesn’t matter and say to yourself ‘that’s too corrupt, that’s too broken, I’m not going to get involved in it’ because at some point if you are ambitious about what you are doing in your home country, you will confront politics.” (Read more from “Obama Says ‘Violent’ and ‘Bullying’ Men in Politics Are Having THIS IMPACT on Him” HERE)

Obama Rebukes Identity Politics

By National Review. During a speech celebrating Nelson Mandela’s would-be 100th birthday, President Obama condemned the idea that only people from marginalized groups can comment on marginalized groups’ issues.

Obama made the comments when he was discussing the best way to interact with those with whom we disagree.

“Democracy demands that we’re able to also get inside the reality of people who are different than us, so we can understand their point of view,” he said. “Maybe we can change their minds, maybe they’ll change ours.”

“You can’t do this if you just out of hand disregard what your opponent has to say from the start,” he continued. “And you can’t do it if you insist that those who aren’t like you because they are white or they are male, somehow there is no way they can understand what I’m feeling, that somehow they lack standing to speak on certain matters.”

It might not seem like all that big of a deal, but what Obama did in that last statement was rebuke a way of thinking that has actually become quite pervasive in social-justice circles. In these circles, it’s often the case that men have no authority to speak out about certain issues just because their men, or that white people have no authority to speak out on certain issues just because they’re white.
