‘That Is Retarded’: Ben Shapiro Goes After Fellow AmericaFest Speakers, Candace Owens; Erika Kirk Makes 2028 Presidential Endorsement During Speech

By Daily Caller. The Daily Wire co-founder Ben Shapiro criticized fellow media figures and speakers Thursday during his speech at AmericaFest.

Turning Point USA opened its annual AmericaFest conference Thursday at the Phoenix Convention Center, presenting the four-day event as a celebration of faith, freedom, and the legacy of founder Charlie Kirk. Speaking at the event, Shapiro said media figures must take responsibility for their words, actions, hiring decisions, and guest choices, adding that hosts owe audiences tough, fact-driven questioning regardless of whether they agree with the guest.

“We have a duty to take responsibility for what we say and do. If we hire awful people, we’re responsible for that. I have some experience there, as you might suspect. That means that if we offer a guest for your viewing, we owe it to you to ask the kinds of questions that actually get at the truth,” Shapiro said. “If we agree with a guest, that’s fine, but we should own it. So, for example, if you host a Hitler-apologist, Nazi-loving, anti-American piece of refuse like Nick Fuentes. You know, the Nick Fuentes who said that the Vice President of the United States is a, quote, fat, gay race traitor married to a jeet.”

Erika Kirk Makes 2028 Presidential Endorsement During AmFest Speech

By Daily Caller. Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk used her speech Thursday at AmericaFest 2025 to map out Republican strategy for the next two election cycles.

TPUSA’s annual AmericaFest conference kicked off Thursday at the Phoenix Convention Center, with organizers framing the four-day gathering as a celebration of faith, freedom, and the legacy of founder Charlie Kirk. During her speech, Kirk told the crowd that Republicans are shifting away from a narrow focus on individual contests and toward a broader, long-term state strategy aimed at locking in durable electoral gains.

“For both 2026 and 2028, we’re investing in states and not just in races. So, what I mean by that is we are building the red wall,” Kirk said. “Arizona, Nevada, New Hampshire, that’s going to be very important to us. We’re going to ensure that President Trump has Congress for all four years. Daily Wire Liars? As Ben Shapiro Publicly Negotiated a Debate with Candace Owens, He Obtained an Order Gagging Her

On April 5, Candace Owens publicly invited her former Daily Wire colleague Ben Shapiro to a debate about “Israel and the current definition of antisemitism.” It was Owens’ criticisms of U.S. financing of Israel, and her criticisms of Israel’s war in Gaza, that caused her departure from the Daily Wire two weeks earlier.

Both Shapiro and Daily Wire CEO Jeremy Boreing responded by saying they would like to arrange the debate requested by Owens. That night, Shapiro appeared to accept her offer, writing on X: “Sure, Candace. I texted you on February 29th offering this very thing.” The Daily Wire co-founder added: “Let’s do it on my show this Monday at 5pm at our studios in Nashville; 90 minutes, live-streamed.”

After Owens objected to the format and timing, she and Boreing exchanged several tweets in which they appeared to be negotiating, and then agreeing to, the terms and format for the debate. Owens had suggested the debate be moderated by Joe Rogan or Lex Fridman. Shaprio said he wanted no moderator. They ultimately agreed to the terms, with Boreing offering a series of conditions, including a no-moderator debate, and with Owens publicly accepting.

Two weeks later, many readers of both Shapiro and Owens noticed, and complained, that the debate had not yet happened. On April 24, Owens addressed those inquiries by explaining that the Daily Wire had yet to propose dates, while reiterating her strong desire to ensure the debate happened.

But the debate was never going to happen. That is because the Daily Wire — in secret and unbeknownst to its readers — sought a gag order to be placed on Owens after she had called for a debate. They did this under the cover of secrecy, before a private arbitrator, at exactly the same time that they were claiming in public that they wanted this debate and were even negotiating the terms with her. To this date, the Daily Wire has not informed its readers, seeking to understand why the much-anticipated debate had not yet happened, that they had sought and obtained a gag order against Owens. Conservatives (Appropriately) Turn on Ben Shapiro With Brutal Reviews of ‘Woke’ Movie Flop

Actress Gina Carano’s first major role since being fired from Disney’s The Mandalorian … was Terror on the Prairie—the story of a frontier woman who must protect herself against a ruthless gang of outlaws hell-bent on revenge.

The film—which only grossed $13,115 during its limited theatrical run—is part of efforts by conservative pundit Ben Shapiro’s publication The Daily Wire to produce films for conservative audiences without what they view as covert liberal messaging. . .

The following review from Terror on the Prairie’s IMDb page is just one example of a conservative accusing the far-right darling of making a “woke movie.” . . .

Carano’s film has proven to be such a failure with conservative audiences it’s even been ranked poorly on a site run by conservatives who keep their eyes peeled for “wokeness” in movies.

Largest U.S. Christian University Blocks Ben Shapiro From Speaking on Campus. Then Officials Release Statement.

Officials at Grand Canyon University, the largest Christian university in the United States, last week blocked conservative commentator Ben Shapiro from speaking on campus as part of an upcoming Young Americans Foundation event.

Now, the university is facing criticism after officials released a lengthy statement explaining the decision to bar Shapiro. . .

In a scathing statement Friday, YAF spokesman Spencer Brown revealed that GCU officials told students the university would not “provide a venue” for Shapiro’s upcoming speech.

School administrators reportedly also said that Shapiro’s speech style is divisive and “cut throat.” Additionally, YAF reported that GCU president Brian Mueller personally approved denying Shapiro a venue, believing the university would dodge negative media attention.

Brown said in a statement: “By caving to an unseen mob and ignoring the popularity of Shapiro among its student body, Grand Canyon University just played itself and deserves whatever negative response this brings. GCU has abandoned the sentiment of its own proclaimed values, deluded itself into acting like the liberal campuses it claims to differ from, and blindly accepted the Left’s ludicrous argument that Shapiro’s presence somehow damages students, campuses, or debate.” (Read more from “Largest U.S. Christian University Blocks Ben Shapiro From Speaking on Campus. Socialist Darling Compares Debate to ‘Catcalling’; Twitter Goes to Town

Thursday after Daily Wire editor-in-chief Ben Shapiro challenged Democratic House nominee Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to a debate, socialist darling Ocasio-Cortez responded by comparing Shapiro’s offer, which included a payment of $10,000 to either her campaign fund or charity, to “catcalling.”

Twitter had some things to say about her analogy.

Ben Shapiro Wrecks Ocasio-Cortez in Bombshell ‘Interview’

. . .As disastrous as Ocasio-Cortez’s performance was, it did have the redeeming quality of giving conservative commentator Ben Shapiro ammunition for his own satirical interview with the Democrat candidate for Congress in New York’s 14th Congressional District.

And the reception for Shapiro’s satirical “interview” said more about Ocasio-Cortez’s candidacy than a hundred thumbsucking sit-downs with the establishment media ever will.

If a Democrat “It” girl can’t make it through a series of softball questions from a liberal host with a liberal audience like Trevor Noah and “The Daily Show” without embarrassing herself, she wouldn’t have a prayer against a conservative who was really trying to do damage. (Hoover showed a lot of class on PBS.)

Ocasio-Cortez is, unfortunately, probably a lock to win her race in New York, in a district where Republicans are so rare as to be an endangered species. But her real use to liberals diminishes with her every turn in the public eye.

Ben Shapiro Files Police Report Against Transgender Reporter Who Threatened Him [+video]

Breitbart News Senior Editor-at-Large Ben Shapiro filed a police report Sunday alleging battery against transgender Inside Edition reporter Zoey Tur.

The report follows a tense exchange between Mr. Shapiro and [Mr.] Tur on HLN’s “Dr. Drew On Call” over Caitlyn Jenner’s receipt of ESPN’s Arthur Ashe Courage Award. [Mr.]. Tur grabbed the back of Mr. Shapiro’s neck and said, “You cut that out now, or you’ll go home in an ambulance,” after Mr. Shapiro called [him] “sir” . . .

Mr. Shapiro later alleged that [Mr.] Tur had threatened him after the appearance, saying, “I’ll see you in the parking lot.” CNN security escorted Mr. Shapiro to his car after ensuring [Mr.] Tur had left the premises, according to Breitbart News.

Primetime Propaganda

Ben Shapiro has a new book out, called  Primetime Propaganda: The True Hollywood Story of How the Left Took Over Your TV.  It chronicles the very deliberate insertion of leftist thought into television programming, and leaves no doubt this is far more than simply a case of people with similar world-views allowing their biases to seep unconsciously into their work.

Shapiro took an interesting approach to preparing his book: he arranged interviews with Hollywood liberals and politely asked them about their biases, while wearing his Harvard Law baseball cap.  They assumed he was a friendly liberal interviewer and let it all hang out.  (Sorry, I haven’t made an Anthony Weiner joke yet today, and that just bubbled out of me.)

Conservatives often wonder how even the lowest-information voter could believe some of the colossally silly things they believe.  It’s not that mysterious.  They believe those things because they have been programmed to believe them, or at least reject alternative ideas with knee-jerk reflexes.  Primetime Propaganda offers a series of frank interviews with the people who wrote the cultural operating system for American decline.
