Biden Targeted Twitter Because of Elon Musk’s Support for Free Speech

The Federal Trade Commission inappropriately pressured an independent third-party auditing firm to find Twitter had violated the terms of its settlement agreement with the FTC, a motion filed last week in federal court reveals. That misconduct and the FTC’s own repudiation of the terms of the settlement agreement entitle Twitter to vacate the consent order, its lawyers maintain.

This latest development holds significance beyond Twitter’s fight with the FTC, however, with the details providing further evidence that the Biden administration targeted Twitter because of its owner Elon Musk’s support for free speech on his platform.

I “felt as if the FTC was trying to influence the outcome of the engagement before it had started,” a CPA with nearly 30 years of experience with the Big Four accounting firm Ernst & Young (EY) testified last month. The FTC’s pressure campaign left EY partner David Roque so unsettled that he sought guidance from another partner concerning controlling ethical standards for CPAs to assess whether his independence had been compromised by the federal agency.

Roque’s testimony prompted attorneys for Twitter to seek documents from the FTC to assess whether the federal agency had repeated its pressure campaign with EY’s successors, but the agency refused to provide any details to the social media giant. Twitter responded last week by filing a “Motion for a Protective Order and Relief From Consent Order.” (Read more from “Biden Targeted Twitter Because of Elon Musk’s Support for Free Speech” HERE)

Biden Administration to Urge All Americans: Get a Coronavirus Booster Shot Now

All Americans will be urged by the Biden administration to get a coronavirus booster shot this autumn ahead of what it claims is a new wave of infections, a White House official said Sunday.

Reuters reports the official said while the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports an increase in infections and hospital admissions from the virus, overall levels remain low, however caution is urged.

Moderna and other coronavirus vaccine makers Novavax, Pfizer and German partner BioNTech SE have all reportedly created versions of their shots ready and aimed at the XBB.1.5 subvariant.

On Thursday, Moderna said initial data showed its updated coronavirus vaccine is effective against the “Eris” and “Fornax” subvariants in humans.

Pending approval from health regulators in the United States and Europe, the Reuters reports details companies expect the updated shots to be available in the coming weeks for the autumn vaccination season. Biden Makes Unexpected, Incredible Admission About His Inflation Reduction Act

President Biden admitted Thursday that Democrats’ signature Inflation Reduction Act wasn’t as much about actually reducing the then-record-high inflation facing the nation as he originally touted to the American people.

“I wish I hadn’t called it that. It has less to do with reducing inflation than it does providing for alternatives that generate economic growth,” Biden said during an appearance at a campaign fundraiser in Park City, Utah according to the press pool report.

“And so, we’re now in a situation where if you take a look at what we’re doing in the Inflation Reduction Act, we’re literally reducing the cost of people being able to make their — meet their basic needs,” Biden said.

“Even when there is inflation there is a way to provide breathing room,” he added, citing negotiating medical prices as one example.

Biden’s comments are a sharp turn from what he said in July 2022 ahead of the Inflation Reduction Act’s passage through Congress on a party line vote. (Read more from “Biden Makes Unexpected, Incredible Admission About His Inflation Reduction Act” HERE)

Biden Admin’s New Climate Rule Would Cause Rolling Blackouts in Huge Swath of America, Analysis Finds

Proposed Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rules regulating carbon dioxide emissions for power plants would lead to blackouts in a large slice of the Midwest and impose costs of nearly $250 billion, according to new analysis by the Center of the American Experiment (CAE).

The EPA’s proposed regulations would require fossil fuel-fired power plants to adopt developing technologies, such as carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) and hydrogen blending, in order to significantly bring down their greenhouse gas emissions over the coming decades. CAE filed comments this week in response to the EPA’s proposals, highlighting in its analysis that the EPA has overestimated the efficacy of wind and solar while exposing the 45 million people living in the area served by the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) power grid to elevated blackout risks.

The EPA “does not appear to have the expertise necessary to enact such a sweeping regulation on the American power sector,” CAE wrote in its comments.

CAE’s analysis found that the EPA’s modeled MISO grid could result in massive blackouts across the 15 states it serves, with one stress test scenario estimating that nearly one in five MISO-served households would be without power. Additionally, CAE calculated that building up enough capacity to avoid its projected blackouts in the MISO region would cost $246 billion in total by 2055. Back From the Dead: Supreme Court Reinstates ‘Ghost’ Gun Restrictions

The Supreme Court granted a request on Tuesday from the Biden administration to reinstate a federal regulation targeted at limiting the production of “ghost guns” that are difficult for law enforcement to trace.

By a 5-4 decision, the justices stalled a July 5 ruling by U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor in Fort Worth, Texas, which blocked the 2022 rule nationwide pending the administration’s appeal. Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, and Brett Kavanaugh said they would have denied the application for a stay.

The Biden administration introduced the regulations last year to tackle what it cited as a dramatic uptick in the availability of ghost guns, which are known as firearm-making kits available online that people can assemble or sometimes even 3D print at home.

The regulations, implemented by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, require creators or sellers of the kits to obtain a special license, mark products with traceable serial numbers, and conduct background checks while maintaining records. Those rules led to challenges in court, and so far, two federal judges have sided in favor of the government. Biden Admin Is the ‘Single Largest Donor’ to Taliban-Controlled Afghanistan Since Botched Withdrawal, Watchdog Says

The Biden administration is the “single largest donor” of taxpayer money to Taliban-controlled Afghanistan since the U.S. evacuated forces in 2021, according to a report from the Special Inspector General for Afghan Reconstruction (SIGAR) on Tuesday.

The U.S. appropriated over $2.35 billion in funds for Afghanistan reconstruction and humanitarian efforts since 2021, following the disordered withdrawal of American forces in the region, according to the SIGAR report. John Sopko, head of SIGAR, warned Congress in April that he “cannot assure this committee or the American taxpayer we are not currently funding the Taliban,” and said that the Biden administration has blocked investigative efforts as to whether the Taliban is being sustained by American tax dollars.

“The Taliban are comfortable accepting foreign support insofar as they can closely monitor the organizations, including restricting and controlling them, and claim some credit for the provision of the benefits,” reads the SIGAR report. “Despite Taliban promises made since gaining power in August 2021 to be more inclusive, counter terrorism, respect human rights, and not pose a security threat to the region, the U.N. says that the Taliban ‘shows no signs of bending to pressure for reform or compromise.’”

The U.S. first appropriated the aid package in 2021, despite multiple warnings from federal lawmakers and agencies that the funds could be misused, according to the Washington Free Beacon. Efforts by Congress to track the money have been stonewalled, and investigative efforts by SIGAR have been largely ignored by the Biden administration and the State Department. Biden Admin Blasted Over Report of Suspected Cartel Gunmen Crossing Border, Eluding Capture

A report about suspected cartel gunmen illegally crossing into the United States and eluding capture over the weekend sparked a fresh wave of condemnation against the Biden administration for its handling of the southern border.

Bill Melugin, a national correspondent for Fox News, broke the news on Tuesday in a post to X showing grainy, black-and-white images of men holding rifles running through a thicket. . .

The post quickly went viral, eliciting comments from Republican lawmakers and others who criticized the Biden administration for not doing more to secure the border.

“Joe Biden has empowered these vicious, deadly cartels giving them free rein over our border,” said Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX). “Our communities are forced to suffer the dangerous consequences of his refusal to follow the law.” (Read more from “Biden Admin Blasted Over Report of Suspected Cartel Gunmen Crossing Border, Eluding Capture” HERE)

White House Censorship of Social Media Violates First Amendment Rights

On March 26, 2021, White House digital director Rob Flaherty e-mailed Facebook, asking what sort of restrictions the social-media company was going to put on the New York Post.

“I’m curious — NY Post churning out articles every day about people dying. What is supposed to happen to that from Policy perspective. Does that article get a reduction, labels?”

What we were “churning out” was the occasional news piece about the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine based on the information we had at the time (even as we also advocated for taking it in editorials).

So for those keeping score at home, social-media censorship of The Post included:

Biden Admin Told Facebook That Censoring ‘Bad Content’ Was ‘Our Primary Concern’

Former Biden Director of Digital Strategy Robert Flaherty told Facebook in a June 2021 meeting that suppressing content was the administration’s top priority regarding speech it did not agree with, according to documents reviewed by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

The White House regularly met with Facebook to discuss content moderation, often having disagreements, according to the memos obtained by the House Judiciary Committee. One point of contention was that President Joe Biden’s administration preferred to censor information while Facebook wanted to combat it with more information.

“You guys are much longer on inform, we’re much longer on reduce,” Flaherty noted at the meeting, according to a transcript of the meeting reviewed by the DCNF.

“What do you mean by that?” asked a Facebook executive, whose name is redacted.

“We’re keen on what platforms are doing to reduce the spread of bad information, that platforms are not funneling people towards bad content,” Flaherty said. “That’s our primary concern.” (Read more from “Biden Admin Told Facebook That Censoring ‘Bad Content’ Was ‘Our Primary Concern'” HERE)

School Archery, Hunting Programs Blocked by Biden Admin From Receiving Federal Funding

The Biden administration’s Education Department is blocking school archery and hunting programs from receiving federal funding, Fox News Digital reported.

Last year, the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 was amended to prevent federal school funding from being used to provide “training in the use of a dangerous weapon.” The amendment, included in gun control legislation passed and signed into law in June 2022, aimed to “promote safer, more inclusive and positive school environments for all students, educators, and school staff,” the Education Department stated in a press release.

The legislation, the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, passed the House in a 234-193 vote and the Senate in a 65-33 vote, with many Republicans crossing party lines to support the measure following mass shootings in Buffalo, New York, and Uvalde, Texas.

Republican Senators John Cornyn of Texas and Thom Tillis of North Carolina penned a letter to Education Secretary Miguel Cardona this month stating that they believe the Department of Education is misinterpreting the BSCA provision regarding school funding. The senators noted that it was intended to prevent education funds from being used for school resource officer training, which is funded under a different provision.

“We were alarmed to learn recently that the Department of Education has misinterpreted the BCSA to require the defunding of certain longstanding educational and enrichment programs — specifically, archery and hunter education classes — for thousands of children, who rely on these programs to develop life skills, learn firearm safety and build self-esteem,” the senators wrote.
