Monica Lewinsky Writes About Her Affair with President Clinton

By Vanity Fair.

Monica Lewinsky writes in Vanity Fair for the first time about her affair with President Clinton: “It’s time to burn the beret and bury the blue dress.” She also says: “I, myself, deeply regret what happened between me and President Clinton. Let me say it again: I. Myself. Deeply. Regret. What. Happened.”

After 10 years of virtual silence (“So silent, in fact,” she writes, “that the buzz in some circles has been that the Clintons must have paid me off; why else would I have refrained from speaking out? I can assure you that nothing could be further from the truth”), Lewinsky, 40, says it is time to stop “tiptoeing around my past—and other people’s futures. I am determined to have a different ending to my story. I’ve decided, finally, to stick my head above the parapet so that I can take back my narrative and give a purpose to my past. (What this will cost me, I will soon find out.)”

Clearing the Air

Maintaining that her affair with Clinton was one between two consenting adults, Lewinsky writes that it was the public humiliation she suffered in the wake of the scandal that permanently altered the direction of her life: “Sure, my boss took advantage of me, but I will always remain firm on this point: it was a consensual relationship. Any ‘abuse’ came in the aftermath, when I was made a scapegoat in order to protect his powerful position. . . . The Clinton administration, the special prosecutor’s minions, the political operatives on both sides of the aisle, and the media were able to brand me. And that brand stuck, in part because it was imbued with power.”

Impeachment manager: Clinton treated Monica like ‘deranged stalker’

By Bob Unruh.

Former Republican Rep. James Rogan, who served as one of the House managers of the impeachment case against Bill Clinton, says the White House launched a full-fledged attack on onetime intern Monica Lewinsky when word came out about the president’s sexual escapades with her.

“History shows that Ms. Lewinsky was treated horribly by the White House: When her relationship with the president first blared across the headlines, the White House began a full-court press strategy to destroy her: White House operatives portrayed her as a deranged stalker to any reporter willing to listen,” said the former California congressman.

Rogan has documented the case against Clinton, how it developed and how it was handled in Washington in his “Catching Our Flag: Behind the Scenes of a Presidential Impeachment.”

The book details what happened when the media force-fed America and the world a steady diet of Lewinsky’s blue dress, a wagging presidential finger and the parsing of phrases such as “the meaning of ‘is.’”

He describes how on his first day on the House Judiciary Committee, Rogan knew if the scandal ever led to impeachment proceedings, future accounts would suffer from faulty memories or faulty motives.

Bill Clinton Says We May Not Be Alone

During an appearance on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Wednesday, the 42nd president was pressed by host Jimmy Kimmel about whether he saw any classified information while in office proving the existence of aliens.

While Clinton said he had “all the Roswell papers reviewed” and found no clear evidence that aliens exist, he also said he wouldn’t be shocked if intelligent life exists outside our planet or even if extraterrestrials one day visit Earth.

“We know now we live in an ever-expanding universe,” Clinton said. “We know that there are billions of stars and planets literally out there — and the universe is getting bigger. We know from our fancy telescopes that just in the last two years more than 20 planets have been identified outside our solar system that seem to be far enough away from their suns — and dense enough — that they might be able to support some form of life.”

Top Democrat Sees Another Train Wreck Coming for Own Party

Photo Credit: WNDA former high-ranking Clinton administration official and law partner with Hillary Clinton sees potential political disaster for Democrats in 2014 over Obama administration health-care policies.

But it’s not just Obamacare that has Webb Hubbell, former chief justice of the Arkansas Supreme Court and associate attorney general of the U.S., concerned about the political fortunes of his party. It’s what he calls “tinkering with Medicare, the tried and true social insurance program that so many older Americans rely on – which so many future older Americans will rely on, too.”

“You have to wonder why the administration would hand the Republicans such a gift,” he writes in a commentary piece in WND today.

What concerns Hubbell, who served 21 months in prison in the 1990s after pleading guilty to federal charges of overbilling clients at the Rose Law Firm where he was partnered with Hillary Clinton and Vince Foster, is a proposal from the Department of Health and Human Services to allow insurance companies to limit Medicare coverage for certain classes of drugs, including anti-rejection medications for transplant patients and medications to treat depression and schizophrenia in the elderly.

“The proposal isn’t based on a needs analysis but on an actuarial cost study that has drug companies, patient advocates and both Democrats and Republicans in Congress all up in arms,” says Hubbell. “And when Republicans and Democrats agree on anything, we all stand up and take notice.”

Romney: Bill Clinton ‘Embarrassed the Nation, Breached his Responsibilities as an Adult’

Mitt Romney revisited Bill Clinton’s White House escapades during an interview with NBC’s David Gregory on Sunday, saying the former Democratic president “embarrassed the nation” and “breached his responsibility as an adult and a leader.”

The 2012 Republican nominee for president made the remarks while discussing the resurgence of talk surrounding Bill Clinton’s sexual dalliances with many women, including White House intern Monica Lewinsky. Led largely by Republican senator and 2016 presidential hopeful Rand Paul, Republicans have tried to put Hillary and other Democrats on the defensive, calling Bill Clinton a sexual predator who disrespects women.

By Dylan Stableford.

Mitt Romney believes former President Bill Clinton “embarrassed the nation” with the Monica Lewinsky scandal, but doesn’t think it will be a factor in 2016 if Hillary Clinton runs for president.

“I think Hillary Clinton, if she becomes a nominee, will have plenty to discuss about her own record,” Romney said on NBC’s “Meet The Press” on Sunday. “I don’t imagine that Bill Clinton is going to be a big part of it.”

But the former Massachusetts governor and 2012 Republican nominee was asked to comment on the 42nd president in light of the GOP’s recent “resurrection” of the Clinton White House.

“He embarrassed the nation,” Romney said of Clinton. “He breached his responsibility, I think, as an adult and as a leader in his relationship. And I think that’s very unfortunate. But I don’t think that’s Hillary Clinton’s to explain. She has her own record, her own vision for where she would take the country. And I think that’s something which will be debated extensively during the 2016 campaign.”

Bill Clinton’s sexual relationship with Lewinsky, then a 22-year-old White House intern, led to his impeachment in 1998 and subsequent trial. Clinton was eventually acquitted of the impeachment charges.

After 20 Years of Denial, Clinton Admits Pot Smoking, Thinks it’s ‘Funny’ (+video)

Photo Credit: AP/Steve HelberMore than 20 years after saying he “didn’t inhale,” Bill Clinton is setting the record straight about his youthful pot smoking.

“I didn’t say I was holier than thou, I said I tried. I never denied that I used marijuana,” Clinton told Fusion TV’s Jorge Ramos in an interview aired Tuesday night.

Back in 1992, in the midst of his first presidential campaign, Clinton famously equivocated when asked about his drug use, saying that during his days as a Rhodes Scholar in England, “I experimented with marijuana a time or two, and I didn’t like it, and didn’t inhale, and never tried it again.”

Obama Gushes Over Bill Clinton at Awards Ceremony

Photo Credit: Getty ImagesPresident Obama heaped praise on President Bill Clinton at the White House Wednesday — after reports of lingering friction between the two men.

“Lifting up families like his own became the story of Bill Clinton’s life,” Obama said, lauding Clinton before eventually placing a Medal of Freedom around his neck. “He made life better and easier for so many people across the country.”

“Thank you so much, President Clinton,” Obama gushed – expressing appreciation for advice Clinton gave him “on and off the golf course” and for putting up with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s travel schedule.

The homage to Bubba and his record in office came just weeks after a new book, “Double Down,” described a 2011 golf game between the two men, where Obama reportedly told an aide, in reference to Clinton: “I like him … in doses.”

Clinton, according to the same book, referred to Obama as “luckier than a dog with two d—-” during his reelection campaign.

Ted Cruz: Clintons Fleeing Obamacare (+video)

Photo Credit: APSen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said on Wednesday that “nobody can defend” the Affordable Care Act following its troubled roll out, suggesting that recent comments by Bill Clinton should serve as a smoke signal to Democrats.

“Three and a half years ago it might have been possible for reasonable minds to differ,” he said on Fox News on Wednesday regarding the ACA. “Today, nobody is saying that. Nobody can defend it because millions of people are losing their jobs or are at part-time work.”

Cruz emphasized that millions of Americans have had their health insurance plans changed or cancelled in recent months, which has resulted in widespread criticism of President Barack Obama.

Bill Clinton Bluntly Criticizes Obama: Live Up to Your Healthcare Plan Promise

Photo Credit: APA blunt critique from Bill Clinton on President Obama’s handling of the rocky ObamaCare rollout is prompting the White House to pledge another set of health law fixes — though in doing so, it could inadvertently build the case for those calling for a delay in the law’s implementation.

Aside from scrambling to fix the broken HealthCare.gov website, the administration is now trying to deal with the millions of Americans who have received cancellation notices. On Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said the president’s team is trying to figure out a way to offer relief to some of those policyholders.

The statement comes after former President Clinton, in an interview with the site Ozy.com, said Obama should live up to his promise to Americans that if they like their health plans, they can keep them.

“So I personally believe, even if it takes a change to the law, the president should honor the commitment the federal government made to those people and let them keep what they got,” Clinton said.

Asked Tuesday if Obama agreed, Carney said: “The answer’s yes.”

Clinton: Obama Luckier than a Dog With Two…

Photo Credit: Reuters/APBill Clinton trotted out a crude anatomical joke about President Obama, saying “he’s luckier than a dog with two d—-” to describe his comeback in last year’s presidential election, according to a new book.

Clinton made the dirty canine quip “again and again” to friends, according to “Double Down,” the latest campaign book by Mark Halperin and John Heilemann.

The book, which like its predecessor “Game Change” about the 2008 election, appears to have heavy sourcing from within the Clinton camp, describes lingering tensions between Obama and Clinton.

After a 2011 golf game with Bill Clinton, according to the book, Obama told an aide: “I like him … in doses.”

Obama’s Negative Polling Worse than Clinton’s in 1995 Shutdown

Photo Credit: Breitbart Gallup released a poll last week showing President Barack Obama’s negative polling among Americans during the current government shutdown is substantially worse in comparison to the numbers the last Democratic president, Bill Clinton, had during his administration’s shutdown in 1995.

According to Gallup:

A majority of Americans, 57%, say they now view President Obama more negatively as a result of the shutdown, while 28% see him more positively. By contrast, during the December 1995 shutdown, 49% of Americans viewed Clinton more negatively and 35% more positively. Clinton’s overall approval rating would tumble to 42% by the end of the 1995-96 shutdown, but rebounded later in 1996.
