Why Did Media and Democrats Abandon Their Investigation Into Brett Kavanaugh?

By The Federalist. What happened to the multiple allegations of sexual misconduct levied against Brett Kavanaugh during his confirmation battle? The claims ranged from Christine Blasey Ford’s remotely plausible if unsubstantiated allegation of a violent attempted rape to Michael Avenatti’s completely outlandish and also unsubstantiated allegation of hosting serial gang rape parties.

From September 12 to October 6, the claims absolutely dominated all major media. They ran on the front pages of all major newspapers and filled the hours on cable and network news. Magazine journalists at The New Yorker ran with the claims, despite massive corroboration problems. . .

If it was important to investigate the claims because Kavanaugh was up for a lifetime appointment on the Supreme Court, it remains just as important to investigate it now that he’s been confirmed. This would be true even if impeachment were not an option if the allegations were ever substantiated. That impeachment is an option makes the October silence even weirder. Why did media outlets go from hourly updates on this story to dropping it like it’s hot?

Recent coverage is limited and devoted to political considerations of the allegations, but not the merit of them. If Kavanaugh had credible sexual assault allegations against him, as the media claimed, they should be fully investigated even after his confirmation, since he continues to work with and around women, and has children at home. Right? Why would his confirmation change anything about the tenacity with which the media covered this story? Is it less scandalous to have a “credibly accused” rapist on the Supreme Court than to have a “credibly accused” nominee to the court? . . .

If the media and other Democratic leaders wanted to have any credibility at all that the post-hearing release of multiple allegations wasn’t a pure political stunt for which they were willing to destroy a man, they’d continue to fight for justice every day, wouldn’t they? They would ask every Democratic candidate whether he believed Ford and supported impeaching Kavanaugh. Kavanaugh Turns Down Nearly $600g Raised Online for His Defense: Reports

By Fox News. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh has reportedly turned down nearly $600,000 that had been raised in his name after sexual misconduct allegations were leveled against him during his confirmation process.

A GoFundMe page through which the funds were raised had a message saying Kavanaugh would not accept the money in order to avoid judicial ethics violations, the Washington Examiner reported.

“I’ve spoken to a former clerk for Judge Kavanaugh who told me that Kavanaugh’s supporters loved the outpouring of support from this GoFundMe,” said conservative blogger John Hawkins, who launched the page Sept. 24. “Judicial ethics rules caution judges against permitting the use of the prestige of judicial office for fund-raising purposes. Justice Kavanaugh will not accept any proceeds from the campaign, nor will he direct that any proceeds from the campaign be provided to any third party.”

The page launched one day after the New Yorker published allegations from Deborah Ramirez, who claimed Kavanaugh exposed himself to her while they were in college, and a week after Christine Blasey Ford accused him of trying to force himself on her, also decades ago.

Hawkins said he received a statement from the law clerk several days ago saying Kavanaugh was not able to accept the money and said Kavanaugh requested that Hawkins discontinue the use of his name for any fund-raising purposes. WaPo Ran Kavanaugh Story With Knowingly False Information

The Washington Post falsely suggested that Georgetown Preparatory School was hiring a new employee to deal with fallout from the Kavanaugh hearings, despite the school directly contradicting WaPo’s report.

Emily Heil reported on October 18 that Georgetown Prep was hiring a director of alumni relations, and wrote that the school posted the advertisement for the position this week. The article further suggested that the school was adding the position because of the news surrounding the confirmation of Justice Brett Kavanaugh, a Georgetown Prep alum, to the Supreme Court.

However, Heil was informed prior to publication of her article by a spokesperson for Georgetown Prep that the position was posted back in July. . .

“I noted in my message below that the Director of Alumni Relations position was posted in July 2018,” Coyle said. “Your article says, ‘The listing went up after Georgetown alumni were very much in the news.’ This is not true and I, in fact, gave you the month in which the position was posted.” . . .

WaPo added a correction to the top of the story that said, “A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that Georgetown Prep posted a job listing this week for a director of alumni relations. The school began advertising for the position in July.”

Sexual Assault Claims Against Dem Sen. Sherrod Brown Put His Post-Kavanaugh Hypocrisy on Display

It’s amazing how putting a shoe on the other foot can change a man.

Let’s take Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, as an example. He’s running for re-election in a state President Trump won in 2016. The campaign of his GOP opponent, Jim Renacci, claims that he’s recently been accused of sexual misconduct by an unnamed woman.

Now let’s take a look at how this has changed Brown’s reactions to uncorroborated allegations of sexual misconduct.

First off, here’s what he said after Christine Blasey Ford testified about her allegations against now-Justice Brett Kavanaugh last month:

“Dr. Ford’s courage is inspiring and I am very grateful to her for coming forward to tell her story, even in the face of deep personal cost. She was moving, heartfelt and honest,” Brown tweeted, adding that this “was a powerful moment for our country.”

In contrast, Brown responded to the allegations put out by the Renacci campaign Thursday night by telling a local newspaper, “Renacci should be ashamed of this. He’s clearly a desperate candidate just doing whatever he can do to upend everything. There’s no truth to those.”

So here’s a question: Where exactly is the line between the moving, heartfelt, honest, and powerful and the desperate and shameful? After all, the accusations both came from sources with clear partisan motives, both have so far presented the same amount of corroborating evidence, and both became public at the 11th hour of a major political event. So why the disparate treatment?

It’s almost as if evidence and the presumption of innocence are things we ought to continue to value. Maybe. Just a thought. (For more from the author of “Sexual Assault Claims Against Dem Sen. Sherrod Brown Put His Post-Kavanaugh Hypocrisy on Display” please click HERE)

O’Keefe Undercover Video Nails Tennessee Democrat’s Senate Campaign for Lying About Kavanaugh Support

The latest sting video from journalist James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas exposes Tennessee Democratic candidate Phil Bredesen’s dishonest campaign for U.S. Senate, indicating that he lied about his support for Justice Brett Kavanaugh to win the election.

Captured on video by an undercover reporter, a staffer for Bredesen’s campaign explained that the candidate’s public support for Kavanaugh was a “political move” to boost his support with some moderate Republicans.

“He thinks that, like, we’re down like half a point right now. It’s, like, really close and we’re losing by a point or two. So he thinks that if, like, by saying this he’s appealing to more moderate Republicans and he’ll get more of them to vote for us,” said Maria Amalla, a field organizer for Bredesen’s campaign.

“Phil Bredesen and his campaign have been shown to lie to Tennesseans, saying one thing to persuade voters on the campaign trail but clearly planning to do something entirely different should he get into office,” O’Keefe said in a statement.

Another New Poll Shows Republicans Are Furious, More Likely to Vote in Midterms After Kavanaugh

It’s been less than 24-hours since Justice Brett Kavanaugh took his rightful seat on the Supreme Court and two weeks since Democrats attempted to derail his nomination with a supercharged smear campaign.

Brett Kavanaugh took the bench with his new Supreme Court colleagues for the first time Tuesday in a jovial atmosphere that was strikingly at odds with the tension and rancor surrounding his high-court confirmation.

The new justice dived into his new job, asking a handful of questions in the first arguments of the day following a traditional welcome from Chief Justice John Roberts, who wished Kavanaugh “a long and happy career in our common calling.”

But according to a new survey from Rasmussen Reports, Republican voters are furious about the salacious, unfounded accusations lobbed at Kavanaugh and are more likely to vote in the upcoming midterm elections as a result.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 54% of all Likely U.S. Voters say they are more likely to vote in the upcoming midterm elections because of the controversy surrounding President Trump’s U.S. Supreme Court nominee. Only nine percent (9%) say they are less likely to vote. Thirty-four percent (34%) say the controversy will have no impact on their vote.

Senator Reveals Who He Believes Leaked Ford Letter

By The Daily Caller. Republican Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas accused Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer Tuesday of being involved in the operation to leak Christine Blasey Ford’s letter to the public.

“I believe the Schumer political operation was behind this from the very beginning,” Cotton told conservative commentator Hugh Hewitt during his radio show.

Ford wrote Democratic lawmakers a letter in July accusing Justice Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct more than 35 years ago. During the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing in September, Ford said she did not authorize the letters release, despite it being made public.

“We learned last week that a woman named Monica McLean was Ms. Ford’s roommate and she was one of the so-called ‘beach friends’ that encouraged Ms. Ford to go to [Sen.] Dianne Feinstein and the partisan Democrats on the judiciary committee,” Cotton continued. “It just so happens that Monica McLean worked for Preet Bharara, the former U.S. attorney in Manhattan, now a virulent anti-Trump critic on television and former counsel to Chuck Schumer.” (Read more from “Senator Reveals Who He Believes Leaked Ford Letter” HERE)

Sen. Tom Cotton Pushes Conspiracy Theory Involving Blasey Ford, Preet Bharara and Chuck Schumer

By The Hill Reporter. . .Last night, Trump apologized to Brett Kavanuagh on behalf of the nation for the “Democrat’s hoax.” Today, Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton took it a step further by creating a conspiracy theory involving Dr. Blasey Ford, Chuck Schumer and Dianne Feinstein.

Cotton made his claims this morning on Hugh Hewitt’s radio show. He claimed, “I believe the Schumer political operation was behind this from the very beginning.”

The senator explained that there was a connection between Ford’s friend Monica McLean and Preet Bharara.

Bharara was a celebrated US Attorney who was famous for taking on financial corruption in New York City. He was fired by the president shortly after Donald Trump took office.

Cotton claimed that McLean once worked for Bharara and then worked for Schumer so there was a line connecting the three of them. (Read more from “Sen. Tom Cotton Pushes Conspiracy Theory Involving Blasey Ford, Preet Bharara and Chuck Schumer” HERE)

According to a press release from Intermediate School District 917, the district immediately put Ness on paid administrative leave while the complaints were investigated. Ultimately, they found out that the special education teacher made the threats on her own personal device on her free time.

“The actions of the employee did not occur at school, and there was no school devices, equipment, or other school staff involved in the actions,” Superintendent Mark A. Zuzek said in a statement. “At no time were students or staff in danger.” (Read more from “Here’s What Happened to the Special Education Teacher Who Tweeted About ‘Killing Kavanaugh'” HERE)

Rosemount Educator Resigns After ‘Kill Kavanaugh’ Tweet

By Star Tribune. A Rosemount school district employee has resigned over a social media post in which she appeared to suggest that someone should kill new U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

The district said Tuesday that the instructor at the Alliance Education Center, whom it did not name, had voluntarily resigned from her position with the district. In a statement posted on the district’s website, Intermediate School District 917 Superintendent Mark Zuzek wrote that the staff member did not make the post on Twitter while at school, adding that “there were no school devices, equipment or other school staff involved in the actions.”

“At no time were students or staff in danger,” he wrote. “The employee was placed on paid administrative leave and an investigation conducted.”

Zuzek said the district began receiving complaints about the tweet on Sunday. It read: “So whose [sic] gonna take one for the team and kill Kavanaugh?” By Monday, a spokesman for the FBI office in Minneapolis said the agency was aware of the posting, and the school district was conducting its own review. 1-In-4 Military Sex-Assault Claims False

. . .A new compilation of statistics based on actual cases in the U.S. military found as many as 26 percent of allegations are false.

The issue has been in the headlines in recent weeks because of Christine Ford’s claim that now-Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh assaulted her when both were in their high school 36 years ago.

In a 50-48 vote to confirm Kavanaugh, only one Democrat supported him.

“We are very fortunate that the waves of bizarre accusations against Brett Kavanaugh did not kill his nomination to the Supreme Court,” said Elaine Donnelly, president of the Center for Military Readiness. “But the verbal assault could have worked to achieve that result.”

The report explains the categories do not include instances in which the victim declined to participate in a prosecution or the statute of limitations had expired. (Read more from “1-In-4 Military Sex-Assault Claims False” HERE)

New Poll Shows What Americans Thought of Democrats Smearing Kavanaugh, and It’s Stunning

By The Blaze. A stunning new poll asking Americans what they thought about how Brett Kavanaugh was treated in the confirmation process has a stunning result for Democrats. . .

Among the crucial election demographic of independents, Democrats are underwater by a 28 percentage point margin.

While 30 percent of independents approved of how Democrats handled the nomination, a whopping 58 percent said they disapproved.

The CNN/SSRS poll was released Monday just head of Kavanaugh being sworn in to the Supreme Court.

Independents are key indicators of elections because while those identified with either party generally vote according to their identification, independents are seen as swing votes that can decided an election. Independents Disapprove of Democrats’ Handling of the Brett Kavanaugh Nomination by a 28-Point Margin

By The Washington Examiner. After a blistering confirmation battle, Justice Brett Kavanaugh will take his seat for oral arguments on the U.S. Supreme Court with a skeptical public, a majority of which opposed his nomination. However, Democrats may not be able to exploit this fact in the upcoming elections as much as they hope, because the independent voters overwhelmingly disapprove of their own handling of the nomination by a 28-point margin, a new CNN/SSRS poll finds.

Overall, just 41 percent of those polled said they wanted to see Kavanaugh confirmed, compared to 51 percent who said they opposed his confirmation. In previous CNN polls dating back to Robert Bork in 1987, no nominee has been more deeply underwater.

What’s interesting, however, is even though Democrats on the surface would seem to have public opinion on their side, just 36 percent approved of how they handled the nomination, compared to 56 percent who disapproved. (Republicans were at 55 percent disapproval and 35 percent approval). A further breakdown finds that 58 percent of independents disapproved of the way the Democrats handled the nomination — compared to 30 percent who approved. (Independents also disapproved of Republicans handling of the matter, but by a narrower 53 percent to 32 percent margin). Kavanaugh Supporters Celebrate, Spark Social Media Outrage With beers4brett Hashtag

By USA Today. Supporters of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh are raising glasses on social media under a #Beers4Brett hashtag to congratulate the self-described beer lover on his hard-fought confirmation.

Even Texas Sen. John Cornyn, a Republican member of the Senate Judiciary Committee got in on the act, sharing a photo of a champagne flute in a tweet reading, “Not quite #Beers4Brett but #Bubbly4Brett instead.”

Many decried the celebration as being in poor taste given that Kavanaugh’s confirmation fight centered on psychology professor Christine Blasey Ford’s accusation that he sexually assaulted her in 1982 when they were in high school. Ford claimed Kavanaugh was drunk during the alleged assault.
