Republican Congressman Dead at 59

Rep. Jim Hagedorn (R-Minn.) has died following a battle with kidney cancer, his family revealed on Friday. He was 59.

“It is with a broken heart, shattered spirit and overwhelming sadness I share my husband Congressman Jim Hagedorn passed away peacefully last night,” Hagedorn’s wife, former Minnesota state GOP chair Jennifer Carnahan, said in a Facebook tribute.

“Jim loved our country and loved representing the people of southern Minnesota,” Carnahan added. “Every moment of every day he lived his dream by serving others. There was no stronger conservative in our state than my husband; and it showed in how he voted, led and fought for our country.”

Hagedorn was elected to represent Minnesota’s First District, which covers the southern portion of the state, in 2018. He was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer in February 2019, just six weeks into his first term and two months after marrying Carnahan.

The lawmaker went public with his diagnosis in February 2020 after undergoing surgery and more than a year of immunotherapy treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. (Read more from “Republican Congressman Dead at 59” HERE)

Judge Shames Elderly Cancer Patient Too Weak to Mow His Lawn

A Michigan judge is coming under fire after video surfaced of her shaming and fining a 72-year-old cancer patient in court who said he’s too weak to maintain his lawn, with the judge exclaiming that she wished she could put the elderly man in jail for not keeping up his yard.

District Judge Alexis G. Krot, who presides over the 31st District Court in Michigan, delivered perhaps one of the most disgusting diatribes from the bench earlier in January – shaming an elderly cancer patient and wishing she could throw him in jail because he admitted to being too frail to personally maintain the weeds growing in his back yard.

During a January 10th virtual court appearance, 72-year-old Burhan Chowdhury appeared before Judge Krot over an August 2021 citation he’d received regarding overgrown vegetation that had begun to protrude through portions of the alleyway along the back of his property. Judge Krot read off the details of the civil infraction, telling Chowdhury he can plead “responsible, responsible with explanation, or not responsible.” In response, Chowdhury explained through labored breathing that he is simply not physically able to pull the weeds from his yard due to his cancer diagnosis. Ronald McDonald House Threatens to Evict Unvaccinated Child Cancer Patients and Their Parents (VIDEO)

Ronald McDonald Houses in British Columbia and Yukon, Canada, plan to evict child cancer patients and their parents if they don’t get the COVID-19 shot by the end of January.

“Beginning January 17, 2022, everyone five years and older who are working, staying, or visiting our facilities (both the House at 4567 Heather St, Vancouver and at the Family Room in Surrey Memorial Hospital) must show proof of full vaccination (two doses), in addition to completing our existing screening, unless an Accommodation has been sought and has been explicitly approved and granted by RMH BC in writing,” a letter from RMH British Columbia & Yukon Senior Director of Family Services Leslie Louie states.

The letter was sent to all families on Monday and only gives them a few weeks with a Jan. 31 grace period deadline to submit their vaccine passports to the RMHBC administration, which usually provides housing to families of sick children in need of regular hospital treatment.

Austin Furgason and his wife Lindsey, who are staying in the Vancouver Ronald McDonald house while their 4-year-old son receives treatment for leukemia, are just two of the people who RMH plans to kick out on Jan. 31 unless they get the COVID-19 jab.

In a video posted to Facebook, Furgason confronted a manager in the Vancouver house demanding answers on why the charity is demanding vaccination when the shot clearly doesn’t stop the spread of COVID-19.

My Husband’s Back Pain Turned Out to Be Deadly Cancer – Learn the Signs (VIDEO)

Watching her husband Jeremy lift a suitcase out from under the bed, Kerry Baggott never thought it would be the start of a heartbreaking journey for her family.

Jeremy had a shooting pain through his back, but being a ‘fit and healthy’ 46-year-old, the couple just thought it was something that would go away. . .

But that weakness turned out to be deadly multiple myeloma cancer, which affects around 24,000 people in the UK and eventually led to Jeremy’s death. . .

“He had a lump on his collar bone, pain in his arms, shoulders and had loads of MRIs that hadn’t picked up anything major,” Kerry said. . .

Breakthrough Blood Test May Detect 50 Types of Cancers

The Mayo Clinic is developing a breakthrough blood test that can detect more than 50 different types of cancer across all stages.

The test, known as Galleri, was created in partnership with Menlo Park, California-based biotechnology and pharmaceutical company Grail.

Galleri looks for signals present in the blood stream that may be associated with cancer at the time of a blood draw.

The test uses next-generation sequencing and machine-learning algorithms to analyze methylation patterns of cell-free DNA (cfDNA) in the bloodstream, which can carry cancer-specific information. DNA methylation is a process used by cells to regulate gene expression. If a cancer signal is detected, Galleri will pinpoint where in the body the cancer is coming from to help health care providers determine the appropriate next steps for patient treatment. GOP Governor’s Wife Diagnosed With Breast Cancer

The wife of Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida has been diagnosed with breast cancer, he announced Monday.

“I am saddened to report that Florida’s esteemed First Lady and my beloved wife has been diagnosed with breast cancer,” the Republican said in a statement to Fox News on Monday.

“As the mother of three young children, Casey is the centerpiece of our family and has made an impact on the lives of countless Floridians through her initiatives as First Lady. As she faces the most difficult test of her life, she will have not only my unwavering support but the support of our entire family, as well as the prayers and well wishes from Floridians across our state,” he said in the statement.

Company To Pull Several Sunscreens Over Cancer-Causing Chemicals

Johnson & Johnson (J&J) announced the recall of five of its sunscreen products Wednesday after a cancer-causing chemical was found in some of the samples.

Low levels of benzene, a carcinogen, were identified in the company‘s following five aerosol sunscreens: NEUTROGENA Beach Defense, NEUTROGENA Cool Dry Sport, NEUTROGENA Invisible Daily, NEUTROGENA Ultra Sheer and AVEENO Protect +, the company said in the Wednesday statement.

All lots of the affected sunscreens are being voluntarily pulled “out of an abundance of caution,” the statement reads.

Former Senator Bob Dole Says He’s Been Diagnosed With Stage 4 Cancer

Former Kansas Sen. Bob Dole announced Thursday he began treatment this week for stage 4 lung cancer.

“While I certainly have some hurdles ahead, I also know that I join millions of Americans who face significant health challenges of their own,” he said in a statement.

Dole, 97, is a World War II veteran, former Senate Majority Leader and was the Republican Party’s 1996 presidential nominee. His political career spanned nearly five decades.

Prostate-Cancer Treatment Leaves Men Disease-Free

Most people have probably heard or seen examples of sound waves so powerful they can break glass. Now, a new cancer treatment is using sound to destroy tumors and cure men dealing with the disease. The new, noninvasive technique for prostate cancer focuses sound waves on the tumor area, heating the cancer calls until they are blasted out of existence.

“The results so far have been very good,” says the University of Toronto’s Dr. Sangeet Ghai in a media release by the Radiological Society of North America.

“We treated a smaller area using this device, yet still had very good results. At the same time the patients preserved their erectile and urinary function.”

U.S. Doctor Wipes Away Cancer Patients’ Bills Totaling $650,000 (VIDEO)

A doctor in Pine Bluff is forgiving debt for nearly 200 of his patients with cancer.

Dr. Omar Atiq is an oncologist who founded the Arkansas Cancer Institute in Pine Bluff in 1991.

On Monday, his clinic sent out a holiday greeting to patients that read, “I hope this note finds you well. The Arkansas Cancer Clinic was proud to serve you as a patient. Although various health insurances pay most of the bills for majority of patients, even the deductibles and co-pays can be burdensome. Unfortunately, that is the way our health care system currently works. Arkansas Cancer Clinic is closing its practice after over 29 years of dedicated service to the community. The clinic has decided to forego all balances owed to the clinic by its patients. Happy Holidays.” . . .

Atiq has treated thousands as an oncologist in the Pine Bluff community over the decades but this holiday gift was a first.
