CNN’s Data Analyst Has Some Bad News for Democrats About the J6 Hearings

The Democratic Party may have wasted its time with the January 6 committee hearings as polling shows it has not helped Democrats ahead of the midterm elections.

Speaking with The Lead’s Jake Tapper, CNN data analyst Harry Enten said Americans’ primary concern is inflation, even as a majority of Americans, 58 percent, are paying very or somewhat close attention to the hearings, according to a recent Quinnipiac University survey. While Democrats are more tuned in, with 74 percent following the hearings, 51 percent of Republicans say they are, too.

The “big question” Enten pointed out, is whether the hearings are changing anyone’s minds about whether former President Trump committed a crime to change the 20202 election results. Overall, nothing has changed since April 2022, according to the survey, when 46 percent said they believe he did. While the percentage of Democrats who believe Trump’s behavior was criminal fell by 2 percent, that’s still within the margin of error. Republicans, meanwhile, jumped from 6 percent in April to 15 percent. . .

“Among Republicans, there’s been perhaps a slight upward movement to 15%, but still clearly the vast majority of Republicans do not in fact believe that Trump committed a crime and these hearings don’t seem so far to in fact change opinions across all Americans of whether Trump committed a crime to change the 2020 election results,” he said. January 6 Committee: New Witnesses Coming Forward Following Former Aide’s Testimony; Text Messages Show Cassidy Hutchinson Referring to Committee as ‘BS’

By Breitbart. Representative Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that new witnesses are coming forward after the testimony from Mark Meadows’ former aide Cassidy Hutchinson to the House Select Committee investigating the January 6 riot. . .

Kinzinger said, “…Again, I don’t want to get into who or any of those details, but – and it’s not even just Cassidy. By the way, she’s been inspiring for a lot of people. This happens every day. Every day we get new people that come forward and say, hey, I didn’t think maybe this piece of a story I knew was important, but now that you guys are – I do see this plays in here. But, yeah, I mean, look, she is going to go down in history as – mean, people can forget the names of every one of us on the committee. They will not forget her name. She doesn’t want that. She doesn’t want to be out in the public spotlight, but she has a commitment to truth.” (Read more from “January 6 Committee: New Witnesses Coming Forward Following Hutchinson’s Testimony” HERE)

Text Messages Show Ex-Aide Cassidy Hutchinson Referring to January 6 Committee as ‘BS’

By Daily Caller. The January 6 committee’s key witness, Cassidy Hutchinson, called the committee “bs” in a text message obtained exclusively by the Daily Caller.

On Feb 1. Hutchinson sent a text to a conservative activist with connections to the First Amendment Fund, which is a group started by the American Conservative Union that helps Trump officials cover costs for Jan. 6 lawyers. Matt Schlapp said Hutchinson approached CPAC for help through the First Amendment Fund. Schlapp said he is happy they did not end up assisting her because she was relaying White House “hallway gossip as fact.” . . .

In the text message, Hutchinson says: “Hey (redacted)! This is Cassidy Hutchinson. Kind of a random question, but do you still work for the Schlapp’s at the ACU?” . . .

Hutchinson then said, “Do you happen to know a First Amendment fund POC I could reach out to? I was subpoenaed in early Nov., but the committee waited to serve me until last week (after Ben’s deposition).”

“I had to accept service because the U.S. Marshalls came to my apartment last Wednesday, but I haven’t made contact with the Committee. I’m just on a tight timeline and just trying to figure out what my options are to deal with this bs,” Hutchinson added.

The Jan. 6 Committee Is Causing Never Trumpers to Lose Their Minds

Something is very wrong with the supposedly right-of-center media outlets and commentators treating the Jan. 6 committee like something other than the appalling Stalinesque show-trial that it is. In particular, the Washington Examiner and National Review both ran embarrassing, delusional op-eds about the hearings this week. The Examiner even ran an editorial declaring, “Trump proven unfit for power again.”

Why is Trump “unfit for power”? Because of former Trump White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony on Tuesday. It was hailed by the corporate press as “explosive” and “damning,” featured on the front pages of the New York Times and the Washington Post, and replayed ad nauseum on all the cable news shows.

Before we get to the Examiner and National Review, we need to talk about the Hutchinson testimony. Hutchinson, who was billed as a star witness for the committee, did indeed make a number of explosive claims on Tuesday. The problem is that she didn’t actually witness anything. Her hearsay claims were blown to pieces almost as soon as they appeared, in some cases because people with firsthand knowledge immediately came forward to dispute them, and in other cases because the claims themselves were ridiculous on their face.

Perhaps the most outrageous accusation from Hutchinson was that on Jan. 6 an enraged President Trump tried to grab the steering wheel of his presidential vehicle and lunged at his security detail when he was told he could not join the protesters marching from the White House to the U.S. Capitol after his rally.

Trump Accuses Ex-Aide of ‘Living in a Fantasy Land’ After Jan. 6 Testimony

Former President Donald Trump ripped into Cassidy Hutchinson, the one-time White House aide who dropped several bombshell revelations at a House hearing this week — deriding her as a “social climber,” claiming she was “living in a fantasy land” and discounting her allegation that he lunged at a Secret Service agent on Jan. 6, 2021.

The 45th president laughed off the suggestion by Hutchinson that he tried to overpower his protective detail and drive the presidential SUV to the Capitol, saying during a Thursday interview with Newsmax that “these guys lift 350 pounds, I don’t.”

“The woman is living in a fantasy land,” he said of Hutchinson, a former top aide to ex-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows.

“She’s a social climber, if you call that social,” he continued. “I think it’s just a shame that this is happening to this country, and we don’t have any Republicans up there to dispute it.”

According to Hutchinson, who testified under oath before the House select committee investigating the Capitol riot Tuesday, Trump became so incensed when Secret Service agents refused to allow him to join his supporters that he tried to grab the steering wheel of the SUV he was being driven in and lunged toward Secret Service agent Robert “Bobby” Engel. (Read more from “Trump Accuses Ex-Aide of ‘Living in a Fantasy Land’ After Jan. 6 Testimony” HERE)

Former Senate Security Chief Mysteriously Dies One Day Before Abruptly Added Jan. 6 Hearing; Secret Service Says Committee Didn’t Reach Out Before Bombshell Testimony

By Radar Online. The man responsible for maintaining Capitol security and protecting the Senate on the day of the deadly Jan. 6 riot in 2021 has suddenly died, Radar can confirm.

Senate Sergeant at Arms Michael Stenger, 71, died on June 27 — one day before Tuesday’s abruptly scheduled Jan. 6 panel hearing in which a former aide to White House chief of staff Mark Meadows was to testify about recently obtained evidence, officials said.

Stenger’s cause of death has not been released, however, a woman answering the phone at his family’s Virginia home told The New York Post: “The family is not here, it’s nobody’s business.” (Read more from “Former Senate Security Chief Mysteriously Dies One Day Before Abruptly Added Jan. 6 Hearing” HERE)

Secret Service Says Jan. 6 Committee Didn’t Reach Out Before Bombshell Testimony on Trump Lunging at Agent

By Fox News. The January 6 Committee didn’t reach out to the U.S. Secret Service (USSS) before its Tuesday hearing regarding an allegation that former President Donald Trump lunged at one of its agents and tried to grab the steering wheel of a presidential vehicle, an agency spokesman said.

USSS spokesperson Anthony Gugliemi confirmed to Fox News Wednesday that the committee did not contact it in the days ahead of the hearing, after it was first reported by Politico. The committee did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News. . .

However, a source close to Ornato told Fox News that he watched the hearing yesterday and was shocked when Hutchinson made the allegation about the steering wheel. (Read more from “Secret Service Says Jan. 6 Committee Didn’t Reach Out Before Bombshell Testimony on Trump Lunging at Agent” HERE)

Jan 6 Committee Member Admits Star Witness’ Evidence Is Hearsay

The January 6 Committee unveiled its surprise star witness on Tuesday — Cassidy Hutchinson, a former aide to then-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows — yet committee member Rep. Jaime Raskin (D-MD) admitted that her testimony was only hearsay.

Hutchinson testified before the committee that Secret Service agent Anthony Ornato told her that on January 6, 2021, then-President Donald Trump attempted to grab the steering wheel of the presidential limo “The Beast” and commandeer the vehicle to the U.S. Capitol to join protesters upset about the 2020 presidential election results. She added that the president was rebuffed by the head of Trump’s Secret Service detail, Robert Engel, who grabbed the president’s wrist. She then claimed that Ornato told her that Trump reached for Engel’s clavicle with his free hand.

While told vividly, the story seemed to lack any hard evidence and was only a second-hand account. CNN’s Jake Tapper pressed Raskin on that point Tuesday evening and asked for any subsequent corroboration from previous testimony.

“She did not see it happen,” Tapper said to Raskin Tuesday evening. “Do you have any corroborating evidence? You have interviewed both Ornato, or the committee has interviewed both Engle and Ornato, two Secret Service agents. Do you have any corroborating evidence that that story is true or do you only have it from Cassidy Hutchinson?”

Raskin could not provide any solid proof besides implying that it sounded true. (Read more from “Jan 6 Committee Member Admits Star Witness’ Evidence Is Hearsay” HERE)

Shock Report: Key Secret Service Figure Prepared to Undercut Jan. 6 Witness Testimony

Two key figures from the Secret Service mentioned in the Jan. 6 committee hearing on Tuesday have already testified to investigators on the panel, but questions remain about what they have said behind closed doors.

Bobby Engel, who was head of former President Donald Trump’s security detail, and Tony Ornato, the White House deputy chief of staff for operations, previously spoke to the House select committee, NBC News reported.

Cassidy Hutchinson, who was an assistant to chief of staff Mark Meadows, testified on Tuesday in a public hearing that she heard from Ornato that Trump grabbed at the steering wheel and lunged at Engel when told on Jan. 6 after his speech on the Ellipse that they could not head to the Capitol.

When Ornato recounted the story, Hutchinson said Engel, who was in the room, did not dispute any of it. Trump reacted on Truth Social, calling it a “fake story.”

After the hearing, CNN’s Jake Tapper interviewed Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), a member of the Jan. 6 committee, and also said that Engel and Ornato have been interviewed by the committee. Raskin said he was not involved in either interview and claimed he does not know if either one was asked about this incident. Secret Service Agents Willing to Testify Trump Did Not Lunge at Steering Wheel

Two Secret Service agents are prepared to testify before Congress that then-President Trump did not lunge at a steering wheel or assault them in an attempt to go to the Capitol during the Jan. 6 riot, a source close to the Secret Service tells Fox News.

The explosive new allegations were made on Tuesday by Cassidy Hutchinson, a former top aide to Trump White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows.

White House Counsel Pat Cipollone repeatedly warned staff in the days before the rally that “we’re going to get charged with every crime imaginable” if Trump goes to the Capitol, Hutchinson testified.

Following Trump’s speech at the Ellipse, he got into the presidential limousine under the impression that he was going to the Capitol, then had a “very strong, very angry response” when the head of his Secret Service detail, Bobby Engel, said that they were going to the White House.

“The president said something to the effect of, ‘I’m the f’ing president. Take me up to the Capitol now,” Hutchinson testified, relaying what she was told later that day by another White House aide, Tony Ornato. Ginni Thomas Responds to Jan. 6 Committee’s Official Request for Testimony

Virginia “Ginni” Thomas’s lawyer sent a response Tuesday to the January 6 Select House Committee, just over one week after they formally requested her testimony.

Thomas, wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, has become embroiled in the investigation into the January 6 riot, and the committee noted in their formal testimony request that they believe she has “information relevant” to their probe.

Mark R. Paoletta, Thomas’s lawyer, noted to the January 6 Committee that while Thomas is willing to speak, he does “not understand the need to speak with Mrs. Thomas.”

“Before I can recommend that she meet with you, I am asking the Committee to provide a better justification for why Mrs. Thomas’s testimony is relevant to the Committee’s legislative purpose,” Paoletta wrote Tuesday in response to the committee’s request. Former White House Staffer Confirms Jan. 6 Committee Lied About DOJ Attorney

Over the weekend, former Department of Justice lawyer Ken Klukowski called on the Jan. 6 Committee to release the full transcript of his deposition testimony to correct the lies they told about him to the American public. Now The Federalist has exclusively obtained a statement from a former White House staffer confirming Klukowski’s claims.

Last Thursday, the Jan. 6, 2021 show trial continued, with the Democrat-stacked committee presenting testimony concerning a draft letter Jeff Clark, a former assistant attorney general in the Department of Justice, proposed sending to the Georgia legislature.

That draft letter, dated December 28, 2020, stated the Department of Justice was investigating the 2020 election and recommended the Georgia legislature convene a special session to “evaluate the irregularities in the 2020 election including violations of Georgia election law,” and “determine whether those violations show which candidate for President won the most legal votes in the November 3 election.” The draft letter then suggested the General Assembly could appoint an alternative set of electors based on its findings.

The draft letter’s signature line included spaces for Clark, Acting Attorney General Jeffrey A. Rosen, and Acting Deputy Attorney General Richard Donoghue. But when Clark pitched the idea of sending the letter to Georgia officials, Rosen and Donoghue rejected the idea out of hand, because it was “not the department’s role to suggest or dictate to state legislatures how they should select their electors,” and “for the department to insert itself into the political process this way,” Donoghue told the committee, “may very well have spiraled us into a constitutional crisis.” (Read more from “Former White House Staffer Confirms Jan. 6 Committee Lied About DOJ Attorney” HERE)
