Reported Pediatric COVID-19 Deaths Plummet After CDC Fixes ‘Coding Logic Error’

After CDC resolved the error, the pediatric death figure reported on its COVID Data Tracker dropped to 1,339 all-time deaths, a reduction of 23.7% from the figure reported the day prior.

“On March 15, 2022, data on deaths were adjusted after resolving a coding logic error. This resulted in decreased death counts across all demographic categories,” the data tracker said.

CDC spokeswoman Jasmine Reed told the Washington Examiner the agency’s algorithm was accidentally counting non-COVID-related deaths in the data tracker.

“An adjustment was made to COVID Data Tracker’s mortality data on March 14 involving the removal of 72,277 – including 416 pediatric deaths – deaths previously reported across 26 states because CDC’s algorithm was accidentally counting deaths that were not COVID-19-related,” Reed said. “Working with near real-time data in an emergency is critical to guide decision-making, but may also mean we often have incomplete information when data are first reported.”

Prior to the fix, the CDC’s data had been used as the basis for articles published late last week by the Guardian and the New York Post that reported as many as a third of all child deaths from COVID-19 had occurred since the beginning of 2022 amid the omicron surge. ‘Half the Country’ Did Speak the COVID Truths the CDC Director Insists ‘Nobody Said’ — And They Were Smeared

Rochelle Walensky, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, should be eating crow these days but is instead deflecting from her agency’s litany of Covid failures. In keeping with her track record of getting things wrong, she got them woefully wrong again — this time, not with regard to Covid but with regard to the people who disagree with her expert guidance.

During a visit to the Washington University School of Medicine on Thursday, Walensky threw a one-two punch at her critics, but it didn’t quite land. It instead only broadcast more elitist hubris and reinforced why federal health bureaucrats haven’t retained a shred of credibility. . .

In response to a different question about risk-benefit assessments a few moments later, she said, chuckling snidely (or as she characterized it, “a little bit tongue in cheek”), “I know I’m going to be wrong for half the country, so now that I’ve accepted that.”

The obvious implication of her remark, of course, is that no matter what she says, “half the country” will disagree with her expert opinion. Throughout the pandemic, this half has included those who have resisted mask mandates for schoolchildren (which Walensky admitted have not been dictated by science but by teachers union demands), those who have hesitated to get the Covid shot, those who have gathered with friends and family, and those unvaccinated with natural immunity who declined to wear a mask, just to name a few.

The CDC — Which Is Withholding Information — Has a Hidden Agenda

People say the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has a messaging problem. But the CDC’s problem is not messaging — it’s issuing flawed guidance while covering up the data.

Case in point: pushing boosters for young people.

After the Food and Drug Administration inexplicably bypassed its expert advisory committee to authorize boosters for all young people, the CDC director overruled her own experts’ downvote of the boosters-for-all proposal. That’s the magic of a call from the White House. Two top FDA officials, including the agency’s vaccine-center head, quit over White House pressure to authorize boosters for the young.

But after the FDA and CDC rammed through the recommendation, they made sure the public wouldn’t see the real-world data. Despite repeated pleas to release all its data, the CDC only posted stats on boosters in people over age 50.

What have they been hiding? As a proxy, let’s take a look at what the CDC just published on people 50 to 65: For the fully vaccinated, the booster reduces the risk of COVID death from four per million to one per million. Who are those three helped by a booster? They’re not healthy people. One study of breakthrough hospitalizations found 75% had at least four comorbidities. CDC’s Latest Announcement Paves Way for the End of Mandates

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its COVID-19 mask guidance Friday to no longer recommend mask-wearing in most indoor settings.

Many state and local governments have deferred to CDC guidance when implementing mask mandates, meaning the change could lead to the end of the remaining mask mandates in some blue jurisdictions. The CDC has recommended indoor masking for Americans, regardless of vaccination status, since last summer after briefly relaxing guidance in the spring of 2021.

The new CDC guidance divides communities into high, medium and low risk categories based on COVID metrics like hospitalizations. People in communities that are deemed high risk are advised to wear a mask indoors, but those in low or medium risk areas are advised only to get vaccinated and get tested if sick.

In medium risk communities, vulnerable individuals are encouraged to seek the advice of their doctor on whether or not to wear a mask. Roughly 70% of American counties fall in the medium or low risk groups, meaning those residents aren’t advised to mask. ‘Scientific Fraud’: Top Doctors Go Nuclear on CDC for Hiding Data

Urging CDC scientists to speak out, Dr. Robert Malone and Dr. Ryan Cole reacted Monday to the news reported by the New York Times that agency officials admit they have withheld COVID data broken down by age, race and vaccination status because the American people might misinterpret it.

“This meets the criteria of scientific fraud,” said Malone, the key inventor of the mRNA technology platform used in the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. “Withholding data is scientific fraud.”

Cole, a Mayo Clinic-trained pathologist who runs a major diagnostic lab in Idaho, said that as “an ethical physician who took oaths to the human race, this is incredibly disturbing.”

“These are the people that are entrusted to tell us the truth,” he said of the CDC officials.

The two outspoken medical scientists were featured at four sold-out events Sunday and Monday near Seattle hosted by a non-profit called One Washington that is helping equip parents, lawmakers and activists to counter moves by the state Board of Health to add the COVID-19 vaccine to the required shots for public school children. The NYT FINALLY Admitted What We’ve Known About Natural Immunity and COVID

The CDC has finally admitted that those with natural immunity had six times the protection as those who were vaccinated when the Delta wave hit. So, obviously—it’s not shocking that those with natural immunity represented a lower percentage of deaths and hospitalizations during this wave. It’s a thing, folks. We’ve known it for months. The experts and the media are just showing up. They’re late to the party (via NYT):

By the week beginning Oct. 3, however, vaccinated people with a prior diagnosis fared best against the Delta variant. Unvaccinated people with a history of Covid also had lower rates of infection and hospitalization than those protected by vaccines alone.

The data are consistent with trends observed in international studies, the researchers said.

Waning of vaccine-derived immunity may explain why vaccinated people were less protected from infection with the Delta variant than those who had a prior diagnosis, the researchers said.

A recent study of employees at the Cleveland Clinic suggested that while vaccination does not add much benefit to a prior bout for the first many months, it may offer better protection against symptomatic illness over the long term than does immunity from a previous infection.

The CDC Has Destroyed Public Trust by Pushing Obvious Falsehoods

Tens of millions of Americans who have relied on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s advice on dealing with Covid-19 are now adrift. Maggie Koerth, a senior science writer for FiveThirtyEight, charges that the agency “mired in political influence” has “failed to address many of the most relevant questions for day-to-day decision-making.”

This lack of leadership has consequences, Koerth observes. Having lost faith in the CDC’s ever-changing advice, many who previously heeded its counsel are now seeking wisdom “in the dark alleys of the internet, hoping the information we’re getting is the real deal and not just another cheap Rolex.”

Koerth is among those who have followed — or tried to follow — CDC’s shifting and often poorly evidenced guidance. They wore gloves when CDC told them to wear gloves, ditched the gloves and donned cloth masks when told they warded off viruses, cleansed their food with Clorox wipes and their hands with Purell, locked themselves and their families in their homes, got “fully vaccinated” with two jabs, and then a third when told that two weren’t enough, strapped masks on their two-year-olds, and got their kids vaxxed, double-vaxxed, and triple-vaxxed. . .

First, hospitals routinely test everyone they admit for Covid-19. According to Health and Human Services, just over 22 percent of inpatient beds were “in use for COVID-19” on January 19. That doesn’t mean that 22 percent of inpatients occupied those beds because they tested positive for Covid. Many were receiving treatment for conditions unrelated to Covid.

Second, the administration does not keep track of how many hospitalized patients with positive Covid tests are vaccinated. Other countries do. No Surprise: CDC Now Treats Unvaccinated the Same as Un-Boosted

In its recently updated guidance on exposure to COVID-19, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) treats double jabbed individuals that have not received a booster shot the same as unvaccinated ones.

“For people who are unvaccinated or are more than six months out from their second mRNA dose (or more than 2 months after the J&J vaccine) and not yet boosted, CDC now recommends quarantine for 5 days followed by strict mask use for an additional 5 days,” the updated guidance reads. “Alternatively, if a 5-day quarantine is not feasible, it is imperative that an exposed person wear a well-fitting mask at all times when around others for 10 days after exposure. Individuals who have received their booster shot do not need to quarantine following an exposure, but should wear a mask for 10 days after the exposure.”

The move to change the definition of “fully vaccinated” by the federal health agency was predicted by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis last month. During a press conference in Tallahassee, the Republican governor told attendees that “those individuals who have gone through a normal vaccination series for COVID …will be determined to be unvaccinated very soon.” . . .

The comments sparked outcry from legacy media fact-checkers, who were quick to label the governor’s prediction as false. Writing in The Independent, Andrew Feinberg penned an article titled “Fact Check: DeSantis falsely claims vaccinated citizens without boosters could be declared unvaccinated and lose their jobs,” in which he claims that DeSantis was “lying about the possibility that Covid-19 boosters will be used to force people out of their jobs.” (Read more from “No Surprise: CDC Now Treats Unvaccinated the Same as Un-Boosted” HERE)

Dem Civil War: COVID Enthusiasts Furious After Biden CDC Shortens Quarantine Requirements

Not everyone is pleased with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Monday decision to relax the quarantine and isolation requirements for people who catch COVID-19. . .

For others, the shift in policy represented the Biden administration caving in to big business.

Specifically, some to Biden’s left are pointing to a report from one week ago that Delta Airlines CEO Ed Bastian wrote a letter to CDC director Rochelle Walensky requesting that the quarantine and isolation periods be reduced. Requirements to quarantine and isolate have been disruptive to businesses of all kinds that have lost employees, but the airline industry has been particularly affected this holiday season.

“So we find out that Delta CEO Ed Bastian asked the CDC to reduce the recommended quarantine time from 10 days to 5 for vaccinated people because of workforce impact,” wrote former Democratic Congressional candidate Russell Foster. “This change has nothing to do with the virus or your health & everything to do with the profits of corporations.”

Others went as far as to suggest that Biden’s CDC was going to get people killed. That group includes former Hillary Clinton adviser Peter Daou, who asked “WHAT IN THE ACTUAL F*CK IS THIS?”

CDC Drastically Changes COVID Quarantine Rules

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention cut its recommendation on Monday for the length of time for isolations and quarantines of those people who test positive for the coronavirus.

Previously the CDC recommended an isolation period of 10 days for people who tested positive but were asymptomatic, but the new guidance says those people can isolate for only five days if they are vaccinated.

“Given what we currently know about COVID-19 and the Omicron variant, CDC is shortening the recommended time for isolation from 10 days for people with COVID-19 to five days, if asymptomatic, followed by five days of wearing a mask when around others,” read a statement from the CDC.
