CDC Update: Coronavirus Does Not Spread Easily by Touching Surfaces

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has always warned that “it may be possible” to become infected with coronavirus by touching contaminated surfaces or objects.

It just “does not spread easily” in that manner, the agency now says, nor by animal-to-human contact, or vice versa.

“COVID-19 is a new disease and we are still learning about how it spreads,” says the CDC’s recently updated guidelines. “It may be possible for COVID-19 to spread in other ways, but these are not thought to be the main ways the virus spreads.”

Dr. John Whyte, chief medical officer for the healthcare website WebMD, told Fox News that the CDC’s slight update brings clarity and helps to reduce fears.

“Many people were concerned that by simply touching an object they may get coronavirus and that’s simply not the case. Even when a virus may stay on a surface, it doesn’t mean that it’s actually infectious,” Whyte was quoted. (Read more from “CDC Update: Coronavirus Does Not Spread Easily by Touching Surfaces” HERE)

WATCH: Obama-Appointed CDC Chair Caught on Camera Lobbying to ‘Get Rid of’ White Americans

A newly surfaced video features Dr. Carol Baker lobbying to “get rid of whites” to reduce “vaccine refusers.” She is a former chair of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). . .

In the 2016 footage uncovered by Patrick Howley at National File from the Achieving Childhood Vaccine Success in the US panel in New York City, Dr. Baker asserted that the way to get everyone vaccinated is to “get rid of all whites in the United States.”

“So I have the solution. Every study published in the last five years, when you look at vaccine refusers. I’m not talking about…hesitance, most of them we can talk into coming to terms. But refusers. We’ll just get rid of all the whites in the United States,” Baker said at the event on May 9, 2016. “Guess who wants to get vaccinated the most? Immigrants.”

Alaska Airlines Makes Masks Mandatory

Citing a desire to align with CDC recommendations, Alaska Airlines announced it will make masks mandatory for all passengers starting May 11.

Guests will be expected to bring their own masks, Alaska said in a blog post Friday. . .

“In light of COVID-19, we’re in a new era and are continually updating our safety standards to better protect our guests and employees,” aid Max Tidwell, Alaska Airlines’ vice president of safety.

Alaska says they’ve also stepped up cleaning efforts on their airplanes to combat COVID-19. They’re also encouraging more social distancing at the airport and on the planes.

The Seattle-based airline says they will reevaluate the mask rule periodically, and change it as the situation evolves. (Read more from “Alaska Airlines Makes Masks Mandatory” HERE)

Doctor Questions Death Toll: ‘Influenza Deaths … Have Been Called COVID-19’; Study: All-Cause Mortality Rate Is Lower Now Than in Recent Years

By Fox News. Dr. Scott Jensen, a Minnesota family physician and Republican state senator, told “The Ingraham Angle” Tuesday that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines for doctors to certify whether a patient has died of coronavirus are a “mess” and predicted that some fatalities initially reported to be COVID-19-related would be reclassified.

“We both know,” Jensen told host Laura Ingraham, “that there have been influenza deaths, influenza cases, that have been called COVID-19 [deaths] because nobody bothered to swab their throats. If you want to find out what the data is, I don’t care if they’re dead or alive, swab them. We can always run a test later and then actually get real information.”

Earlier this month, Jensen told Ingraham that under the CDC guidelines, a patient who died after being hit by a bus and tested positive for coronavirus would be listed as having presumed to have died from the virus regardless of whatever damage was caused by the bus.

Jensen also gave a hypothetical example of a patient who died while suffering from influenza. If the patient was elderly and had symptoms like fever and cough a few days before passing away, the doctor explained, he would have listed “respiratory arrest” as the primary cause of death. Study: All-Cause Mortality Rate Is Lower Now Than in Recent Years

By The Blaze. According to the CDC, a large number of COVID-19 hospitalizations had at least one underlying condition. Yet, many doctors are recording deaths as coronavirus related without doing much to investigate the actual cause of death.

Consider this: When you visit your doctor you are always asked if you or a family member has been diagnosed with common health conditions. Each patient’s medical history provides your doctor with important information that directly affects the path taken for treatment.

By process of elimination, doctors can rule out common diseases and narrow down likely causes for illness.

Now, imagine being under the impression your mother or father died from COVID-19 when, in reality, it was hypertension or heart disease that caused the death of your loved one. (Read more from “Study: All-Cause Mortality Rate Is Lower Now Than in Recent Years” HERE)

Here’s Why the CDC Is Telling Men to Shave Their Facial Hair

Men may need to hack off their muttonchops, void their Van Dykes or pluck their ducktails if they plan on using a respirator, according to information from the CDC about how facial hair can interact with the devices.

A graphic released by the agency shows the fashionable facial-hair-wearer which styles will conflict with potentially life-saving respirators as the US braces for the quickly spreading coronavirus to emerge state-side.

Handlebar, walrus, and Zorro mustaches are fine, but the CDC says folks may need to lose their Fu Manchus, Dalis, and Englishes — because they could prevent respirators from making a seal on wearers’ faces. . .

Standard beards and chops are also risky, as the hair could come in contact with a respirator’s exhalation valve, reducing their effectiveness, the graphic said. (Read more from “Here’s Why the CDC Is Telling Men to Shave Their Facial Hair” HERE)

Fact Check: No, Trump Did Not ‘Fire’ Pandemic Specialist or ‘Defund’ CDC

CLAIM: President Trump “fired” the government’s pandemic specialist, and “defunded” the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

VERDICT: Mostly false. The specialist was not fired; he quit. Some CDC cuts were proposed, but not implemented.

Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg claimed at the Democrat debate in Charleston, South Carolina, on Tuesday night that President Donald Trump had “fired” the government’s pandemic expert and “defunded” the Centers for Disease Control:

One of the great problems today, you read about the virus, what’s really happening here is the president fired the pandemic specialist in this country two years ago, so there’e nobody here to figure out what the hell we should be doing. [Applause] And he’s defunded Centers for Disease Control, CDC so we don’t have the organization we need.

In reality, the pandemic expert — Rear Adm. Timothy Ziemer — left the National Security Council (NSC) voluntarily after then-National Security Advisor John Bolton was appointed. (Read more from “Fact Check: No, Trump Did Not ‘Fire’ Pandemic Specialist or ‘Defund’ CDC” HERE)

RECALL: Romaine Salad Linked to E. Coli Outbreak

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Wednesday that it expanded its salad recall. The move comes amid a multistate E. coli outbreak linked to romaine lettuce. . .

“This advice includes all types of romaine lettuce harvested from Salinas, California, such as whole heads of romaine, hearts of romaine and packages of precut lettuce and salad mixes which contain romaine, including baby romaine, spring mix and Caesar salad.”

While the recall includes products sold under many different brand names, the CDC said the infected items have “Use By” dates ranging from Oct. 29, 2019, to Nov. 1, 2019. And the products have establishment number “EST. 18502B” inside the U.S. Department of Agriculture mark of inspection. Worried shoppers can visit the USDA website for a full list.

A total of 40 people in 16 states have been infected from the contaminated lettuce, the CDC said. A total of 28 hospitalizations have been reported and five people have developed hemolytic uremic syndrome, a type of kidney failure. . .

This latest warning comes days after New Jersey-based produce market Missa Bay recalled more than 75,000 pounds of salad products possibly contaminated with E. coli, and another outbreak in Maryland pinged by the Maryland Department of Health. The CDC Has Identified a Polio-Like Virus in the U.S.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned about an uptick in the number of cases of acute flaccid myelitis, a disease that the agency described as being polio-like. . .

While the symptoms of this virus has been described as polio-like, it is not polio, which has been eradicated in most of the world. The symptoms are also similar to non-polio enteroviruses, adenoviruses, and the West Nile virus.

It is also not clear where the virus came from. The CDC has yet to figure out a common link between all the cases that have been reported, although they did note that several of them seem to have been linked to infections by other viruses, enterovirus D68. However, this was not true in all cases.

There have been 386 confirmed cases of AFM since 2014. In 2015, the CDC identified 22 patients who exhibited symptoms of AFM. In 2016, that number rose to 149. It dipped back down to 33 in 2017, before rising again in 2018. The total reported number for this year is 127, but the CDC has only confirmed 62 of those cases so far. . .

While the CDC is not sure what the cause of AFM is, the agency suggested that the best methods for preventing the spread of this disease included staying “up to date on polio vaccinations,” avoiding being bitten by mosquitoes, and washing hands. Obama’s CDC Director Arrested, Accused of Sexual Abuse – Report

Tom Frieden, the former director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention under President Barack Obama, was arrested in New York City on Friday on charges of sexual abuse and harassment.

Frieden, 57, allegedly groped a woman inside his Brooklyn apartment, the New York Post reported.

Frieden, who led the CDC from 2009 to 2017, turned himself in for allegedly grabbing a 55-year-old woman’s backside in October 2017, police told the Post.

“He was arrested for forcible touching, for sexual abuse and harassment, for touching her buttocks without permission,” a New York police spokeswoman said.

The Washington Post reported that Frieden headed up the CDC longer than any director since the 1970s.

He oversaw the agency during the outbreaks of the Ebola and Zika epidemics, as well as the 2009 H1N1 swine flu pandemic.

Frieden resigned his position after President Donald Trump took office.

In an outgoing interview with The Washington Post, the doctor spoke proudly of his work at the CDC.

“Fundamentally, Americans are healthier and safer because of the work CDC has done over the last eight years,” he said. “Americans are safer because we have better capacities in place, better infrastructure in place in this country and around the world to find threats early, stop them quickly and prevent them wherever possible.”

Frieden continued, “We’ve done that through laboratory work that looks at microbial genomics so we can stop outbreaks sooner. We’ve done that by training the next generation of public health specialists — more than 1,000 of them, fresh out of college and graduate school — deployed out to state and local governments. These people will be protecting Americans for decades to come.”

The Post asked what scared him the most.

“The biggest concern is always for an influenza pandemic. Even in a moderate flu year, (influenza) kills tens of thousands of Americans and sends hundreds of thousands to the hospital,” Frieden said.

“So flu, even in an average year, really causes a huge problem. And a pandemic really is the worst-case scenario. If you have something that spreads to a third of the population and can kill a significant proportion of those it affects, you have the makings of a major disaster.”

According to the Washington Examiner, since leaving the CDC, Frieden has worked at a nonprofit group called Vital Strategies, in charge of the group’s Resolve to Save Lives initiative.

The nonprofit’s website states its goal is to “save 100 million lives by implementing proven solutions to prevent heart disease and stroke, the world’s leading cause of death. And we are helping the world prevent the next disease outbreak by catalyzing country action to find, stop and prevent new disease threats.”

The effort is being funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. (For more from the author of “Obama’s CDC Director Arrested, Accused of Sexual Abuse – Report” please click HERE)

CDC Official Warned Staff of Health, Safety Risks During Influx of Illegal Alien Minors

4556668580_e7c724750b_bA government official warned employees deploying for the influx of illegal immigrant minors about health and safety risks because the new arrivals would have tuberculosis and some were young adults—not children—like the Obama administration proclaimed, according to records obtained by Judicial Watch. “We might as well plan on many of the kids having TB,” states a June 26, 2014 guidance e-mail from a Centers for Disease Control (CDC) environmental health scientist, Alaric C. Denton, as the agency prepared to handle the crisis. “Most of these kids are not immunized, so we need to make sure all our staff are immunized.” Denton, who is stationed at the CDC headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, predicts in the directive that the agency will be overwhelmed pretty quickly and that screening requirements will be hard to keep up with.

Judicial Watch had to sue the CDC’s umbrella agency, the Department of Health and Human Services, (HHS) for the records. Though chunks have been redacted, the documents contradict the Obama administration’s public statements dismissing possible health and safety risks created by the tens of thousands of Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) fleeing violence in Central America. The CDC official reveals in the documents obtained by JW as a result of the lawsuit that “some of these kids are not really kids they are young adults, and we should be wary of personal safety.” JW reported this early on, when the first group of UACs arrived through the Mexican border in the summer of 2014. Homeland Security sources directly involved with the mess told JW that holding centers were jam-packed, rampant with diseases and sexually active teenagers. A veteran Border Patrol officer who heads the agency’s Tucson sector quickly established that many of the UACs were not little kids but rather 17-year-olds with possible ties to gang members in the U.S. (Read more from “CDC Official Warned Staff of Health, Safety Risks During Influx of Illegal Alien Minors” HERE)
