Krauthammer: Hillary Achieved Nothing As Sec. of State, US Went Backwards (+video)

Photo Credit: YouTubeAppearing on on Tuesday’s Hugh Hewitt Radio Show Pulitzer Prize winning columnist Charles Krauthammer declared that Hillary Clinton did not have one achievement in her four years running the State Department, and further, the U.S. position in the world actually went backwards during her tenure…

Hewitt: That’s very true. Let me finish up there on Hillary. With these fiascoes underway in Kiev, a massacre, and in Venezuela, the arrest of opposition leader, Leopoldo Lopez today, Hillary’s foreign policy trifecta is complete. She’s lost South America, she’s lost the Middle East, and she’s lot Eastern Europe. How does anyone recover from that and run for the presidency?

Krauthammer: By losing the Pacific Rim.Then you get a straight flush. You get a royal flush. Look, you know, when people talk about Hillary being a superb Secretary of State, I just ask one question. Name me one thing, just one, not three, give me one thing she achieved in her four years as Secretary of State. I have yet to hear an answer.

Hewitt: You’re right.

Krauthammer: Obamacare Delays Stuff of ‘Banana Republic’

Photo Credit: Screenshot The latest delay in the Obamacare employer mandate is more like something done in a “banana republic” than in a democracy, says conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer.

Appearing on Fox News Channel’s “Special Report” on Monday, Krauthammer was part of a panel discussion on Monday’s delay of the employee mandate for yet another year, taking the issue past this year’s midterm elections.

“The whole idea here that the administration is trying to promote that it’s a timing issue and we’ve got to ease them into this is a farce, ” Krauthammer said. “It’s the substance of it.” In the end, he said, the White House may have to cancel the mandate altogether because it will increase joblessness.

“Generally speaking you get past the next election by changing your policies, by announcing new initiatives, but not by wantonly changing the law lawlessly,” Krauthammer said. “This is stuff you do in a banana republic. It’s as if the law is simply a blackboard on which Obama writes any number he wants, any delay he wants on any provision.”

The Affordable Care Act has seen so many changes that no one even notices or complains anymore, he added. If complaints had started with the first “arbitrary changes,” Krauthammer said, perhaps they could have been stopped.

Krauthammer: How to Debunk the ‘War on Women’

Photo Credit: Screenshot What is it about women that causes leading Republicans to grow clumsy, if not stupid? When even savvy, fluent, attractively populist Mike Huckabee stumbles, you know you’ve got trouble. Having already thrown away eminently winnable Senate seats in Missouri and Indiana because of moronic talk about rape, the GOP might have learned. You’d think.

Huckabee wasn’t quite as egregious, just puzzling and a bit weird. Trying to make a point about Obamacare mandating free contraceptives, he inexplicably began speculating that the reason behind the freebie was the Democrats’ belief that women need the federal government to protect them from their own libidos.

Bizarre. I can think of no Democrat who has ever said that, nor any liberal who even thinks that. Such a theory, when offered by a conservative, is quite unfortunately self-revealing.

In any case, why go wandering into the psychology of female sexuality in the first place? It’s ridiculous. This is politics. Stick to policy. And there’s a good policy question to be asked about the contraceptive mandate (even apart from its challenge to religious freedom). It’s about priorities. By what moral logic does the state provide one woman with co-pay-free contraceptives while denying the same subvention to another woman when she urgently needs antibiotics for her sick child?

The same principle of sticking to policy and forswearing amateur psychology should apply to every so-called women’s issue. Take abortion, which is the subtext of about 90 percent of the alleged “war on women,” the charge being that those terrible conservative men are denying women control of their reproductive health.

Krauthammer: Obama’s NSA Speech ’90 Percent Smoke and Mirrors’

Screen Shot 2014-01-18 at 11.22.23 PMConservative columnist Charles Krauthammer had a rare moment of praise for President Barack Obama’s speech on NSA surveillance — even if it was a bit backhanded. “It was 90 percent smoke and mirrors and very little substantive change, which is what we need,” he said Friday, calling it “a terrific speech.”

Krauthammer spoke to Fox News’ Bret Baier on Friday about the president’s speech on the National Security Agency’s domestic surveillance program, where he promised largely superficial changes to the contentious mass collection of Americans’ metadata. Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul said “it doesn’t sound to me like he’s really going to change,” while the American Civil Liberties Union said “the president should end — not mend — the government’s collection and retention of all law-abiding American’s data.

Krauthammer: Stop the Bailout — Now

First order of business for the returning Congress: The No Bailout for Insurance Companies Act of 2014.

Make it one line long: “Sections 1341 and 1342 of the Affordable Care Act are hereby repealed.”

End of bill. End of bailout. End of story.

Why do we need it? On Dec. 18, thechairman of the Council of Economic Advisers was asked what was the administration’s Plan B if, because of adverse selection (enrolling too few young and healthies), the insurance companies face financial difficulty. Jason Furman wouldn’t bite. “There’s a Plan A,” he replied. Enroll the young.

But of course there’s a Plan B. It’s a government bailout.

Krauthammer: ‘Huge Gov’t Bailout’ of Health Insurance Industry at End of 2014

President Obama, by issuing new rules that erode Obamacare’s “financial structure,” is putting the health insurance industry — and taxpayers — at risk, author and conservative political analyst Charles Krauthammer said on Sunday.

“The insurers understand that they’re going to be completely ruined,” Krauthammer said on “Fox News Sunday” with Chris Wallace. “And what’s going to happen as a result of this? There’s only one way out, a huge government bailout of the insurers is waiting at the end of next year.”

That’s the issue Republicans should be focusing on right now, Krauthammer said.

On Thursday, the Obama administration unilaterally delayed another provision of the law, saying there will be no tax penalty for people who had their existing health insurance canceled because of the Affordable Care Act and who did not find new coverage as required by law.

“There still may be a small number of consumers who are not able to renew their existing plans and are having difficulty finding an acceptable replacement,” Health and Human Service Secretary Kathleen Sebelius wrote to Senate Democrats. “These consumers should qualify for this temporary hardship exemption,” the Associated Press quoted her as saying.

Krauthammer: Obama has Taken a ‘Very Cavalier Attitude’ Towards U.S. Constitution (+video)

Photo Credit: Mr. T in DCConservative political pundit Charles Krauthammer hammered President Barack Obama on Friday, saying he has taken a “very cavalier attitude” towards the United States Constitution and rule of law.

“I’m talking about how the administration, particularly the president, seems to think that he has right to change duly passed statutes on his own, or to suspend whole parts of laws on his own,” Krauthammer told Fox News’ Harris Faulkner. ”I mean, the constitution is pretty clear, the president executes the law and the Congress passes the laws.”

Krauthammer: Pro-Obamacare Ad has ‘Creepy Soviet Element’ (+videos)

Photo Credit: Screenshot By Brendan Bordelon.

Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer ridiculed an Organizing for America commercial telling parents to give their kids a Thanksgiving scolding until they sign up for Obamacare.

“I love the part of the ad where the dad says, ‘We love you no matter what,’” Krauthammer joked Thursday on Fox News Channel’s Special Report. “What’s the dad supposed to say? You don’t get health insurance, you’re out of the house, you’re out of the will? I’m going to euthanize your dog?”

Organizing for America was a key component in President Obama’s election campaign and is intimately tied to the White House communications team. Krauthammer worried about the implications of tying partisan politics to family gatherings like Thanksgiving dinner.

Krauthammer: Obama ‘tossed away’ George W. Bush’s Iraq War victory

By Jamie Weinstein.

Charles Krauthammer says George W. Bush’s “surge” strategy in Iraq had essentially snatched “victory from the jaws of defeat,” but President Barack Obama squandered that victory by failing to negotiate a status of forces agreement with the country.

Krauthammer: ‘Iran Agreement Is a Farce, the Worst Deal Since Munich in 1938’ (+video)

Photo Credit: Fox News We heard some strong words from Charles Krauthammer Monday night on Special Report, as he blasted the Obama administration over the weekend’s nuclear deal with Iran.

Krauthammer likened the actions of President Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry to Europe’s appeasement of Adolf Hitler in the late 1930s, when Germany’s borders were expanded.

“It’s really hard to watch the president and the secretary of state and not think how they cannot be embarrassed by this deal,” said Krauthammer, calling the agreement a “farce” and the “worst deal since Munich” in 1938.

He argued that the United States has now formally signed off on Iran remaining very close to possessing a nuclear weapon.

Liberals Are Worried About the ‘Train wreck’- Krauthammer on The Kelly File

On Friday, Democrats joined their Republican colleagues in the House to pass a measure that would restore health insurance policies canceled by ObamaCare. Charles Krauthammer believes the Democratic support is a sign that the party is panicked about the law.

Tonight on The Kelly File, he explained why there’s a lot at stake for the left. “Obama’s an extremely ideologically ambitious president.”

Krauthammer on Krauthammer

By Hadas Gold and Dylan Byers — Politico

Charles Krauthammer was surprised when President Barack Obama invited him to the White House last month.

Since Obama took office, the columnist and Fox News contributor has been among the most forceful critics of the president’s policies. Krauthammer’s long been widely read among conservatives, but has recently raised his prominence with unrelenting and searing attacks on the president’s health care plan, proclaiming earlier this month that the “unraveling” of Obamacare, the administration, and the Democratic Senate majority could amount to nothing less than “the collapse of American liberalism.”

With Obama’s approval rating at an all-time low, and the Republican establishment at odds with the conservative base, Krauthammer had become more than “critic in chief.” Blending high-mindedness with strong conservative values, he has commanded respect on both the extreme and moderate sides of the spectrum, becoming the closest thing the factionalized GOP could have to a spokesperson, a de facto opposition leader for the thinking right.

But on that October day when a small group of conservative writers gathered for an off-the-record session with Obama, Krauthammer checked his criticism at the gates to the White House.
