How China’s Military Colonized U.S. Research Programs and Siphoned off U.S. Taxpayer Funding

It went virtually unreported, but the firing of a Chinese tenured professor by a major U.S. university provides one case study about the People’s Liberation Army infiltration of U.S. laboratories and the “laundering” of U.S. taxpayer dollars to supplement China’s military research and development programs.

According to a June 14, 2022 report, New York University’s Board of Trustees approved the termination for cause of Chuanshu Huang, MD, PhD for failing to disclose that he acted as a principal investigator and co-principal investigator on outside research activities on behalf of Wenzhou Medical University in China and his affiliation with China’s Thousand Talents Plan.

What was not reported was Chuanshu Huang’s deep connections with China’s People’s Liberation Army.

Chuanshu Huang graduated from the People’s Liberation Army’s Fourth Military Medical University in Xi’an, China.

Around 1995, Chuanshu Huang began working in the laboratory of Zigang Dong at the University of Minnesota, who himself was among the first wave of Chinese scientists to arrive in the United States and, thereafter, acted as one of many “anchors” for subsequent waves of Chinese “scientific chain migration.”

Zigang Dong received over $23 million in funding from the National Institutes of Health.

Zigang Dong, who eventually became Executive Director of the Hormel Institute at the University of Minnesota, abruptly left his position in May 2019, when the FBI was investigating Dong’s possible failure to report foreign backing when applying for grants.

Zigang Dong, arguably a fugitive from U.S. justice, is now back in China.

After additional training with Xianglin Shi at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health in Morgantown, West Virginia, Chuanshu Huang obtained a permanent position at the Nelson Institute of Environmental Medicine of New York University beginning around 2001.

Prior to his recent termination by New York University, Chuanshu Huang received about $12 million in research grant funding from the National Institutes of Health.

During his twenty years at New York University, while supported by U.S. taxpayer dollars, Chuanshu Huang maintained an extensive research collaboration with scientists from the People’s Liberation Army, including training Chinese military personnel at New York University.

The scientific publications demonstrating research collaboration between Chuanshu Huang and the People’s Liberation Army, and the Chinese military personnel trained by him are too numerous to list, but a few links can be provided:

2005 – The People’s Liberation Army’s Second Military Medical University, Shanghai
2006 – The People’s Liberation Army’s Fourth Military Medical University, Xi’an
2008 – The People’s Liberation Army’s Fourth Military Medical University, Xi’an
2009 – The People’s Liberation Army’s Fourth Military Medical University, Xi’an
2010 – The People’s Liberation Army’s Third Military Medical University, Chongqing
2011 – The People’s Liberation Army’s Third Military Medical University, Chongqing
2012 – The People’s Liberation Army’s Fourth Military Medical University, Xi’an
2013 – The People’s Liberation Army’s Fourth Military Medical University, Xi’an
2014 – The People’s Liberation Army’s Third Military Medical University, Chongqing
2015 – The People’s Liberation Army’s Third Military Medical University, Chongqing
2016 – The People’s Liberation Army’s Academy of Military Medical Sciences, Beijing
2018 – The People’s Liberation Army’s Third Military Medical University, Chongqing

There are literally hundreds of other similar cases of Chinese scientific infiltration of U.S. laboratories that can be documented, but are being deliberately ignored by U.S. government officials and members of Congress.

Chinese Military Set to Repeat Some of Russia’s Invasion Mistakes

Chinese military logistics appear to suffer from some of the flaws that weakened Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, according to Defense Department analysts.

A sophisticated analysis of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army’s public discourse and practical actions shows that Beijing is working to ensure that its forces can operate efficiently in a major war. That’s a difficult challenge given their lack of recent experience in such a large-scale conflict, and some current and former U.S. government analysts question whether Chinese military planners are prepared to subjugate Taiwan.

“Can the PLA really get its forces across [the Taiwan Strait], and if it gets them across, can it sustain them in combat on the island?” George Washington University’s Lonnie Henley, a former Defense Intelligence Agency officer who retired from the government in 2019, said Tuesday. “I personally suspect that the PLA air force can only sustain their combat operations for about two weeks. But we really can’t answer that question because we don’t have the data, and we haven’t had the focus on those questions that we need in order to develop the data.”

“Feedback from PLA logisticians suggests that additional refinement and investment is required to overcome long-standing limitations of PLA supply in order to sustain ground forces in a maneuver conflict like that in Ukraine,” said Maj. James Roger “J.R.” Sessions, who was characterized as appearing at the Center for Strategic and International Studies event in his personal capacity. “PLA observers note myriad shortfalls in post-reform logistics that mirrors similar problems Russian forces reportedly have faced in Ukraine.” (Read more from “Chinese Military Set to Repeat Some of Russia’s Invasion Mistakes” HERE)

China to Biden: You Will Cancel the Latest Arm Sale to Taiwan

. . .China is demanding we halt our most recent arms sale to Taiwan (via Reuters):

China has demanded that the United States immediately cancel its latest arms sale to Taiwan, the Chinese state broadcaster reported on Monday, citing the country’s Ministry of National Defence.

The Pentagon said on Friday that the U.S. State Department had approved the potential sale of military technical assistance to Taiwan worth an estimated $108 million

Shocker: Hunter Biden Tied to Chinese Company That Bought Oil Joe Released

There really seems to be no limit to the convolutions that develop when the Biden family works on its international business schemes.

Probably one of the most famous was when Joe Biden was vice president and traveled to Ukraine for Barack Obama. At that time Hunter Biden was taking in tens of thousands of dollars a month from a Ukrainian company under investigation for corruption. . .

Now the Free Beacon is reporting that some of that oil Joe Biden released from America’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve, ostensibly to help American consumers with sky-high gasoline prices brought on by his energy and economic policies, was sold to a Chinese company.

A Chinese company in which Hunter Biden has interests, the report said.

It’s through Hunter Biden’s links to Sinopec, in which he, through an equity firm, previously bought a $1.7 billion stake.

China More Dependent on US and Our Technology Than You Think

The Biden administration has been wrong to frame U.S.-China competition as a technological competition. This is because, in most areas, there is no technology competition between the two countries. There is only China’s reliance on the U.S.—a far more technologically advanced nation with far more technologically advanced allies and trading partners. And it’s in the U.S. interest to keep it that way and maintain—and even expand—America’s tech advantage.

The lack of technological superiority means China’s economic advancement is subject to other countries supplying it with critical chips and capital equipment. That’s why China has been making efforts to reduce its reliance on foreign suppliers and produce more technology domestically.

Apart from economic reasons, the ability to produce key technology of its own would allow China to further pursue its geopolitical ambitions without restraint, such as its self-declaration of sovereignty over Taiwan and the South China Sea.

In contrast, reducing reliance on foreign technology is not an issue for the U.S. Instead, given many countries’ reliance on U.S. technology, the priority for America is to improve its current technology to always keep other countries lagging behind.

China’s late start is the main reason for its inferior level of technology. The communist regime didn’t start actively promoting the industry’s development until the 1980s. Drawing lessons from the experiences of the East Asian Tigers—the four highly developed economies of Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan—China had stepped up its efforts by encouraging foreign direct investment in assembling products such as smartphones, laptops, computers, etc., in China. ‘Xi Humiliated’: Wuhan Lab Leak Theory Gains Ground as Experts Point To Evidence in Book

Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic that threw the entire world into turmoil, a furious debate has raged on about the origins of the Sars-Cov-2 virus. While China believes that the virus jumped from animals to humans, many have alleged that the virus actually leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology. In a new book, experts have investigated the various claims made by different groups and concluded it is “highly likely” the outbreak began in Wuhan, despite China suggesting that it may have come from Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and neighboring countries.

In a column written for Spiked, biologist and co-author of Viral: The Search for the Origin Of Covid-19, Matt Ridley lambasted Chinese scientists who not only rejected the lab leak theory as a “conspiracy” but also criticized the theory the virus emerged from wildlife trade in the Huanan seafood market in Wuhan.

In a study published in the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, chinese researchers slammed a group of American scientists who suggested that the virus emerged from a seafood market. . .

Mr Ridley noted that this paper reveals the dilemma that Xi Jinping is in.

He wrote: [China] cannot concede that the virus started in its legal or illegal wildlife trade without huge embarrassment to the Xi Jinping regime, which has encouraged the first and tried to eliminate the second. China Rages Over COVID-19 ‘Lie’ After Bombshell Report

China has rubbished bombshell reports World Health Organization chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the Covid-19 virus emerged from a laboratory.

A senior government source reportedly told the Mail on Sunday Dr Tedros believes a “catastrophic accident” led to the virus escaping from the Wuhan Institute of Virology at the end of 2019.

Dr Tedros’ comments regarding the virus’s origins have slowly shifted to being more critical of China’s response in the pandemic’s infancy. . .

Addressing the report on Wednesday, China’s foreign ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin rejected the Mail on Sunday’s claims.

“The report you mentioned is entirely false and the Director-General completely refutes the story in the article,” he responded, saying the WHO has confirmed Dr Tedros’ alleged comments were never made in public or private. Leaked Internal Audio From TikTok Shows U.S. User Data Accessed From China Despite Denials: Report

TikTok employees based in China have repeatedly accessed sensitive data from U.S. users despite the company previously indicating that the information would only be accessed from inside the U.S.

The revelation was contained in a report from BuzzFeed News that highlighted various statements made from numerous employees over the course of more than 80 internal TikTok meetings.

The fear that U.S. officials have is that U.S. user data could be accessed by ByteDance, the Chinese parent company of TikTok, because Chinese companies are subjected to the rule of the Chinese Communist Party.

“The risk is that the government could force ByteDance to collect and turn over information as a form of ‘data espionage,’” the report said. “There is, however, another concern: that the soft power of the Chinese government could impact how ByteDance executives direct their American counterparts to adjust the levers of TikTok’s powerful ‘For You’ algorithm, which recommends videos to its more than 1 billion users. Sen. Ted Cruz, for instance, has called TikTok ‘a Trojan horse the Chinese Communist Party can use to influence what Americans see, hear, and ultimately think.’” (Read more from “Leaked Internal Audio From TikTok Shows U.S. User Data Accessed From China Despite Denials: Report” HERE)

China Praises Cuba for Defending Uyghur Genocide

The communist government of Cuba hijacked this week’s ongoing U.N. Human Rights Council session to deliver a statement, signed by 69 countries, in support of China’s genocide of Uyghur and other non-Han ethnic groups in occupied East Turkistan.

Cuba and China, in addition to several other dictatorships and human rights abusers, enjoy seats on the Council, regularly using them to undermine the mission of the Council by forcing it to focus on Israel or America. Under President Donald Trump, America vacated the Council in protest of the disproportionate representation that human rights abuses have on the U.N. body, but President Joe Biden reversed that decision, making America a participant in the Council’s activities.

The Council recently expelled Russia in response to the eight-year-old invasion of Ukraine, which is also on the Council, but has made no similar moves against Cuba, China, Venezuela, Qatar, and other serial human rights violators.

Cuba’s intervention to defend genocide at the Human Rights Council was a response to 47 countries, including the United States, issuing a statement on Tuesday directed at U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet, who recently visited East Turkistan and concluded that the extensively documented Chinese concentration camp system had been dismantled and praised China’s atrocious human rights record. Eerie: China Reports Possible Alien Contact — Then Deletes It

State-backed Science and Technology Daily in China reported that scientists found possible signals from aliens but deleted the reporting of the discovery soon after.

According to Chinese scientists, the country’s “Sky Eye” telescope detected what could be evidence of an alien civilization. The large telescope is in China’s southwestern Guizhou province and has a diameter of 1,640 feet.

The now-deleted report said that the scientists found “several cases of possible technological traces and extraterrestrial civilizations from outside the Earth.”

The report cited Zhang Tonjie, 52, who is the chief scientist of an extraterrestrial civilization search team co-founded by Beijing Normal University, the National Astronomical Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the University of California, Berkeley.
