Nancy Pelosi’s Daughter Just Endorsed Felony Assault Against Rand Paul

Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., started the week by cynically blowing up a bipartisan compromise to deliver economic relief to millions of Americans whose livelihoods have been destroyed by mandated government pandemic shutdowns. And then her daughter added insult to injury by explicit endorsing violent felony assault against Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky.

“Rand Paul’s neighbor was right,” Pelosi’s daughter Christine tweeted.

Pelosi was responding to a Washington Post congressional reporter writing on Twitter that Utah Republican Sen. Mitt Romney’s biggest concern about the Wuhan virus is contracting it and giving it to his wife who has Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

Romney announced on Sunday he and fellow Utah Republican Sen. Mike Lee would be self-isolating after being exposed to Paul who tested positive for the virus. (Read more from “Nancy Pelosi’s Daughter Just Endorsed Felony Assault Against Rand Paul” HERE)

Signs of Hope as Coronavirus Panic Sets In?; Chloroquine Is Being Touted as a Miracle Drug for Coronavirus, but There Are Reasons to Be Wary

By Life Site News. Crises have a way of sorting out the good people, ideas, and institutions from the bad, and as the Wuhan virus spreads throughout the world, the sorting process is made easier. The decision to close our borders to China, criticized by the WHO, the left, and media as “racist,” has proven to be essential, and the bien pensant governments around the world are now following suit, shutting down their borders to aid in containment. . .

Speed of containment is of the essence, and the good news is that while the development of any vaccine against it requires more time, there are existing pharmaceuticals, some of which are readily available and not terribly expensive, that seem to be efficacious.

Among these are hydroxychloroquine (brand name Plaquinel) and chloroquine. Jeffrey Satinover reports that a “French clinical study with 24 patients and excellent 5 day elimination of the virus used” the more readily available Plaquinel. It must be taken under medical oversight because of the risk of interactions and the long-term “effects on the retina.” Plaquinel is produced by Teva, an Israeli company which will donate six million tablets through wholesalers to hospitals around the country by the end of the month and more than 10 million tablets within a month. Resochin has shown some potential in treating the virus as well, and Bayer just donated three million tablets.

In Italy, remdesivir, a broad-spectrum antiviral drug produced by Gilead, proved effective. That drug, however, is in limited supply, though Gilead is working “to increase its stock a rapidly as possible.” Favipiravir, a Japanese-produced drug, reportedly has proven effective in China. There is certainly reason for optimism that with closed borders, self-isolation, and available drug treatments, we can stem the spread of this virus. Chloroquine Is Being Touted as a Miracle Drug for Coronavirus, but There Are Reasons to Be Wary

By Buzzfeed News. The start of a clinical trial to test the drug chloroquine as a treatment for the coronavirus pandemic, announced over the weekend by President Donald Trump, provoked a clamor for the unproven drug, amid reports of shortages.

“There is a significant surge in demand of chloroquine/hydroxychloroquine and we are doing everything possible to work with manufacturers to increase production,” the FDA’s Michael Felberbaum told BuzzFeed News on Monday. “We are working with manufacturers to assess their supplies and are actively evaluating market demand for patients dependent on it for treatment of malaria, lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. But please know this is a fluctuating and dynamic situation we are actively engaged on.” . . .

Despite the excitement, medical experts including National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Chief Anthony Fauci raised a host of cautions about widespread prescription of an unproved medication for a brand-new disease. Here are just a few. . .

Chloroquine was added to China’s formulary for treating COVID-19 in February, leading to its widespread use there and in South Korea. But Chinese data touting its efficacy is scant, resting on a study of monkey cells in test tubes and a consensus report from doctors in Guangdong province. . .

But they do have side effects like most drugs, some severe. The Mayo Clinic lists 14 drugs that shouldn’t be taken with chloroquine, whose side effects can include blurred vision, nausea, vomiting, cramps, headache, and diarrhea. Similar side effects are associated with hydroxychloroquine, another form of the drug, which is also linked to convulsions and “mental changes” by the US National Library of Medicine.

WHO Director Was Accused of Covering up Cholera Epidemics in Africa; U.S. Funds World Health Organization That Boot-Licks China, With Deadly Results

By Daily Caller. World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus came under fire in 2017 over his handling of cholera epidemics in Ethiopia and Sudan. Physicians and health professionals at the time accused him of failing to properly classify outbreaks of the disease in order to avoid embarrassing the two African regimes.

Nearly three years later, Tedros is facing similar allegations over his response to the novel coronavirus pandemic that originated from China. He and the WHO have come under heavy scrutiny for defending the Chinese government’s response to an outbreak in the Wuhan province in November 2019.

A group of American doctors blasted Tedros in September 2017, accusing him of failing to investigate outbreaks of cholera in the African country, which neighbors Ethiopia. Sudanese leaders classified the outbreak as “acute watery diarrhea” rather than cholera, which is caused by a bacteria found in unsanitary drinking water.

The terminology affected whether outside health organizations would marshal resources to fight an outbreak of the deadly bacteria.

“Your silence about what is clearly a massive cholera epidemic in Sudan daily becomes more reprehensible,” the doctors wrote in a Sept. 11, 2017, letter to Tedros. (Read more from “WHO Director Was Accused of Covering up Cholera Epidemics in Africa” HERE)

U.S. Funds World Health Organization That Boot-Licks China, With Deadly Results

By The Federalist. The coronavirus (COVID-19) has spread throughout the world, having infected more than 100,000 people and causing the deaths of more than 4,000. Officials in charge of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and the World Health Organization (WHO) have rightly received plenty of criticism about how they’ve managed the outbreak, with nearly half a million people calling on WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus to resign.

The reason for the WHO’s failure to properly act to contain the outbreak, and its repeated issuing of inaccurate and bad advice, is not merely the result of incompetence. Rather, the malfeasance is the direct result of the CCP deliberately buying out WHO’s leadership, with tragic consequences.

Experts have pinned the virus as starting possibly as early as October, months before the CCP alerted the world about the risks posed by the deadly disease. Rather than addressing the issue, China arrested journalists and doctors who tried to sound the alarm. In addition, the “People’s Republic” blocked information on social media and removed all news stories that attempted to report accurate infection numbers. The end result of this was preventable suffering, as countries were unable to take the urgent action needed to respond. . .

Scientists and patients are rightly demanding answers as to why the WHO coddles dictators instead of holding them accountable and acknowledging the seriousness of the threat. The United States is the largest contributor to the WHO’s budget, in 2017 sending the agency half a billion dollars.

Unfortunately, few are willing to accept the cynical truth that the WHO has let funding priorities and the personal ambitions of its leadership get in the way of sound public policy. As with so many things, an understanding can be found by following the money. (Read more from “U.S. Funds World Health Organization That Boot-Licks China, With Deadly Results” HERE)

There Is a Possible ‘New’ Coronavirus Symptom; Teen Dies One Day After Testing Positive for Coronavirus

By Townhall. The Wuhan coronavirus pandemic still has the world on edge. Italy has been ravaged by the illness, with tens of thousands infected and thousands of deaths. The U.S. also has tens of thousands of confirmed cases, but the death toll isn’t nearly as high. For Italy, the good news is the number of confirmed cases today shows that the nation’s lockdown is working and there may be signs that the curve is starting to flatten over there. Again, things can change.

The disease has crashed the markets. The virus is highly contagious and very lethal to those who are over the age of 65 and the immunocompromised. That doesn’t mean younger people can’t get it. They can and have—and some have died already. A woman in her 30s is said to have passed away from the virus in the St. Louis area. Young people can still get really sick, but a great many will either have mild symptoms or be asymptomatic. That’s good and bad news. The bad news is that since people who are mild-to-asymptomatic-aren’t deathly ill, they could go outside and spread it to those who are highly susceptible to dying from the virus. This disease can survive in the air for hours and on certain surfaces for up to three days. The symptoms are fever, cough, fatigue, and difficulty breathing. Yet, across the pond, in the UK, we have a new symptom that is causing concern for doctors: loss of smell. (Read more from “There Is a Possible ‘New’ Coronavirus Symptom” HERE)

20-Year-Old With Coronavirus Reports Experiencing ‘Very Different’ Symptoms

By New York Post. A 20-year-old American woman who tested positive for the novel coronavirus said she suffered symptoms that hadn’t previously been associated with the infection, including hearing loss.

Julia Buscaglia — who was staying in Italy when she first started showing symptoms — decided to share her story in a now-viral Twitter thread because “others are reporting very different experiences than mine,” she wrote. . .

On March 1, she said, she woke up feeling better but decided to see a doctor because of the escalating coronavirus concerns in Italy. The doctor said she simply had a cold — but then she began to lose hearing in her left ear, despite having no cough, she wrote.

The next day, “hearing in both ears was significantly less,” and she said she could feel phlegm in the back of her throat, but simply brushed it off as a cold symptom. . .

“I still couldn’t hear, and at this point I lost all ability to taste and smell, yet I did not have a runny nose or cough,” she wrote. “I had a headache constantly during the day which I just treated with Tylenol. I left the next morning to return to America.” (Read more from “20-Year-Old With Coronavirus Reports Experiencing ‘Very Different’ Symptoms” HERE)

British Teen Dies One Day After Testing Positive for Coronavirus

By New York Post. An 18-year-old has died in the UK — one day after testing positive for COVID-19, according to officials.

The unidentified teen died in University Hospital in Coventry and is believed to be the youngest of 281 fatalities linked to the pandemic in the UK, officials confirmed to the Telegraph on Sunday.

The 18-year-old had “significant underlying health issues” when confirmed to have COVID-19, the hospital’s chief medical officer, professor Kiran Patel, told CoventryLive. (Read more from “British Teen Dies One Day After Testing Positive for Coronavirus” HERE)

White House Asking Senators to Include in Rescue Package… Jailbreak of Federal Prisoners?

Everything seems to be making its way into the coronavirus rescue bill, except of course for what should be in there. But now, some elements of the White House are looking to include a bill that will release some violent federal prisoners.

Throughout the country, blue-state politicians have been insidiously using the coronavirus outbreak to release prisoners under the guise of not spreading the virus. The logic makes no sense, but it’s not surprising given their long-standing desire to reduce the prison population at all costs.

On Saturday, the White House office of legislative affairs sent a message to Senate staff requesting they pass H.R. 4018, a bill to grant federal prisoners over the age of 60 early release, “as soon as possible.” In case you thought the convoluted logic of using the coronavirus crisis to push the jailbreak agenda was limited to big-city liberal politicians in Baltimore and California, this memo made clear there are those in the White House pushing it.

“Older inmates are at a unique risk to be affected by the Coronavirus,” read the email from the White House legislative affairs office, which I obtained from a Republican Senate office. “A congressional fix to allow older inmates to be placed in home confinement can help reduce the risk of community spread in a crowded environment.”

This is utterly ridiculous. The Bureau of Prisons has long shut off visitation to prison facilities and has taken proper precautions to prevent an outbreak. Prison is the ultimate quarantine.

H.R. 4018 would expand on a jailbreak program under the First Step Act. Currently, the prisoners in question are eligible for home confinement after serving two-thirds of the term of imprisonment to which they were sentenced. This bill would make them eligible for release after serving just two thirds of the reduced sentence after all the new good time credits recently created by the First Step Act are factored in. It therefore allows them to double-dip and further accelerate the date of their release.

By and large, those serving time in prison at that age are those who committed the worst crimes imaginable. This bill would lop several years off their existing sentence reductions.

However, we must also be concerned that Jared Kushner and the Koch staffers working in the White House will use this as an opportunity to let out even more people immediately. On Friday, the infamous Al Sharpton claimed in a tweet that he called the White House to “consider the homeless and incarcerated amid COVID19.” According to Sharpton, Trump personally called him back to discuss it.

Then, during Sunday’s night’s press conference, in response to a reporter’s question, President Trump acknowledged he is considering such a jailbreak. Given the zeal of Jared Kushner in pushing jailbreak and his involvement in the coronavirus task force, we must be concerned that they will follow what the blue city mayors did, on the federal level.

This is creating a second-order public safety concern amid the health concern, because criminals are being released and others are not being arrested, while many businesses and stores remain vacant. Meanwhile, some of the same cities, such as Anchorage, Alaska, that are leaving open marijuana stores are now forcing gun stores to close. For example, in New Jersey, where they are contemplating a mass prison release, it’s now impossible for a first-time gun owner to purchase a weapon to protect himself, because all gun stores have been closed down by the governor.

Consider that in Hawaii, you are facing up to a year in prison for violating the mandatory stay-at-home order. But what happens if a criminal attacks your home or property? Good luck getting him arrested or protecting yourself. In much of the country, you cannot open your business, but if you loot a business under mandatory vacancy, you will not be arrested.

One would expect such policies to be rigorously opposed by this White House. Is it too much to ask that we don’t have Senate Republicans pressured by this administration into passing the most extreme liberal bills amid all the vital policies they should prioritize instead? Groups Representing 30,000 Physicians Sign Letter Demanding Abortions Be Suspended to Conserve Medical Resources During Pandemic (VIDEO)

Groups representing 30,000 physicians signed a letter called for the suspension of abortions in order to preserve medical resources critical to fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

The letter was published on Monday as officials reported greater numbers of those infected and the stock market continued to tank.

The letter objected to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists classifying elective abortions as “essential healthcare,” and made the case to suspend abortions.

“In such an uncertain and tumultuous time, the entire healthcare profession is being called upon to conserve resources and healthcare professionals to an extent never seen before,” the letter read. “And yet, in the midst of this call, while hospitals are postponing elective procedures and many outpatient clinics are rescheduling non-essential office visits, the abortion industry continues with business as usual.”

State Releases Inmates to Stop ‘Overcrowding’

By Breitbart. California’s coronavirus policy has reached a point of contradiction: the state is releasing inmates from its jails to prevent the spread of coronavirus in close quarters, while at the same time moving homeless people to recreation centers in residential areas.

The Los Angeles Times reports:

More California counties are releasing inmates to protect their jails againstpossible coronavirus outbreaks.

In Alameda County, officials announced 247 people were being released from the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin. San Diego County officials have announced similar moves, as have San Francisco, San Mateo and other counties.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has reduced its inmate population by 6% in the last three weeks and Dist. Atty. Jackie Lacey said her office would consider reducing bail for thousands of nonviolent offenders.

State Prison Inmate in Lancaster, 2 Prison Employees in Chino Test Positive for Coronavirus

By Daily Bulletin. A man incarcerated at a state prison in Lancaster and five employees at corrections facilities in Chino, Sacramento and Folsom had tested positive for the novel coronavirus as of Sunday, March 22, prison officials said.

The Lancaster case is the first to be reported among inmates in California’s prison system.

The first three confirmed cases of the virus in the prison system involved two employees at the California Institution for Men in Chino and another at California State Prison, Sacramento, officials for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation wrote in a statement issued Saturday, March 21.

The agency reported Sunday that an additional employee in Sacramento, one other at Folsom State Prison, and an inmate at California State Prison, Los Angeles County in Lancaster had also contracted COVID-19. WATCH: Dr. Fauci Slams the Media for Continually Trying to ‘Divide’ Him and Trump

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, expressed his contempt for the media on Sunday during an interview on CBS News’ “Face the Nation.”

“You said this week that you differed from the president in an assessment that a combination of two drugs, Hydroxychloroquine and Azithromycin, combined, could have an outcome that he described to the public,” Margaret Brennan said. “Who is the president listening to and do you see a concern here that those drugs could become, basically oversubscribed, and there could be a shortage that could impact people who have persistent medical issues, like Lupus, and need those?”

“There’s an issue here of where we’re coming from. The president has heard, as we all have heard, are what I call ‘anecdotal reports’ that certain drugs work. So, what he was trying to do, and express, was the hope that it might work, let’s try and push their usage,” Fauci explained. “I, on the other hand, am not disagreeing with the fact that, anecdotally, they might work. But my view is to prove, definitively, from a scientific standpoint, that they do work. So I was taking a purely medical, scientific standpoint. And the president was trying to bring hope to the people.”

According to Fauci, the media is continually trying to find contrasts between what the NIAID director and the president have said about the Wuhan coronavirus.

“I think there’s this issue of trying to separate the two of us,” he said. “There isn’t fundamentally a difference there. He’s coming from a hope standpoint. I’m coming from it from a scientific standpoint.”

Germany’s Low Coronavirus Mortality Rate Intrigues Experts; Germany Bans Gatherings of More Than 2 to Contain Coronavirus Outbreak

By The Guardian. Germany’s relatively low mortality rate continues to intrigue experts as Covid-19 spreads across Europe, with some questioning the methodology behind its data gathering while others argue the country’s high testing rates allow a more accurate approximation of the threat posed by the novel coronavirus.

While the pandemic has hit Germany with full force, with Johns Hopkins University noting 22,364 confirmed infections by Sunday morning, only 84 people are so far reported to have died.

This means Germany currently has the lowest mortality rate of the 10 countries most severely hit by the pandemic: 0.3% compared with 9% in Italy and 4.6% in the UK.

The contrast with Italy is especially surprising because the two countries have the highest percentage of citizens aged 65 or over in Europe. If anything, the Bloomberg Global Health Index would suggest Italians have a healthier lifestyle than Germans.

German politicians and senior health officials have been reluctant to comment on the low mortality rate while the situation is developing so rapidly. Lothar Wieler, the president of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the government’s central public health body, has said he does not expect there to be a significant difference in mortality rates between Italy and Germany in the long run. Germany Bans Gatherings of More Than 2 to Contain Coronavirus Outbreak

By Fox News. Germany took drastic action Sunday to slow the spread of the coronavirus as the European Union country banned public gatherings of more than two people.

Only families and people sharing a home are exempt from the stringent action, Chancellor Angela Merkel said, according to Bloomberg News.

“No one wants to stand before the people and discuss such rules,” Merkel said at a news conference in Berlin after a video conference with regional leaders, according to the news outlet.

Merkel, who after giving her remarks was placed in quarantine after a doctor she came in contact with tested positive for COVID-19, said the public gathering ban will be in effect for two weeks. (Read more from “Germany Bans Gatherings of More Than 2 to Contain Coronavirus Outbreak” HERE)

Italian Virologist Says Political Correctness Doomed His Country’s Coronavirus Response; Italy Bans All Internal Travel to Stop Virus Spread

By The Blaze. Italy is now the epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic sweeping the globe and one of the country’s top virologists says political correctness is partly to blame.

Dr. Giorgio Palù, a professor of virology and microbiology of the University of Padova and the former head of the European and Italian Society for Virology, recently said that concerns over “politics” and being perceived as “racist” delayed Rome’s response to the deadly virus that originated in China. . .

Palù told CNN that the Italian government failed by refusing to impose a wider and stricter lockdown earlier on, instead of the initial restrictions that focused on 11 areas Rome placed in a “red zone.” . . .

Palù also believes that politics delayed the government’s reaction, which he decried as “lazy in the beginning,” saying there is “too much politics in Italy.”

The virologist added, “There was a proposal to isolate people coming from the epicenter, coming from China.” However, he says the Italian government balked at the idea of singling out travelers coming from China out of concern it could be construed as racist. “Then it became seen as racist, but they were people coming from the outbreak.” (Read more from “Italian Virologist Says Political Correctness Doomed His Country’s Coronavirus Response” HERE)

Italy Bans All Internal Travel to Stop Virus Spread

By Al Jazeera. Italy moved to stop all travel within the country, in a further escalation of its attempt to curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, a month after announcing its first death from the disease.

Italy’s travel ban was announced as all non-essential businesses including car, clothing and furniture makers were ordered to close and a further 651 people died from COVID-19, the illness caused by the virus.

Italy has recorded a death toll higher than China, where the virus first appeared late last year.

Domenico Arcuri, head of the government’s coronavirus relief effort, told state broadcaster RAI that Italy was “at war” with the virus. (Read more from “Italy Bans All Internal Travel to Stop Virus Spread” HERE)
