The death threats, Mary Willingham expected.

More shocking is that the University of North Carolina is now disavowing her research as a whistle-blower — research that showed between 8% and 10% of the school’s football and basketball players are reading below a third-grade level.

UNC issued a statement Wednesday night saying it did not believe Willingham’s account of a basketball player who could not read or write.

It went on: “University officials can’t comment on the other statistical claims mentioned in the story because they have not seen that data. University officials have asked for that data, but those requests have not been met.”

As well as questioning UNC many times about the story before publication, CNN has also detailed Willingham’s research.

Man Attacks, Threatens to Shoot Pro-Life Activist Outside Abortion Clinic

Photo Credit: Life News An angry man jumped out of his vehicle and threatened to shoot pro-life activist Mark Gietzen, who had offered to help him as he left a woman for an abortion at the South Wind Women’s Center abortion clinic, located inside a building where George Tiller once operated in Wichita, Kansas.

Gietzen, Director of the Kansas Coalition for Life, was setting up a pro-life display early on Thursday, November 21, when the man drove into the abortion clinic parking lot and dropped off a woman. As he left, Gietzen offered him pro-life literature and urged the man to go back and bring the mother of his baby out of the clinic.

As the man lunged at Gietzen, a clinic security guard, who happened to be nearby, intervened. According to Gietzen, the security guard “attacked [the man] from behind, locking both of his arms around the young man’s arms and torso, and lifted him off the ground in a full-body hug.”

Gietzen called the police but the man had already fled by the time they arrived. As the police were taking Gietzen’s statement, the man returned and was detained by police. It is unknown at this time if the man was actually charged. Wichita Police Officer G. R. Morris issued Gietzen a case number: 13C77676.

Feds Upset Over Release of Mexican Drug Lord who Ordered DEA Agent’s Killing (+video)

Photo Credit: Fox NewsA Mexican court’s releasing of a drug lord who killed a Drug Enforcement Administration agent in the 1980s is sparking outrage this weekend among U.S. law enforcement officials.

Rafael Caro Quintero, who was sentenced to 40 years in prison for ordering the 1985 killing of DEA agent Enrique Camarena, was released earlier this week by a Mexican court that overturned the conviction, saying he had been improperly tried in a federal court for state crimes.

The Justice Department said it found the court’s decision “deeply troubling.”

“The Department of Justice, and especially the Drug Enforcement Administration, is extremely disappointed with this result,” the agency said in a statement.

The Justice Department also said it “has continued to make clear to Mexican authorities the continued interest of the United States in securing Caro Quintero’s extradition so that he might face justice in the United States.”

A Houston man is accused of threatening to burn U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz and his father unless the senator paid him $3 million, according to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office…

An intern at Cruz’s Austin office told investigators that a man called the office on June 5, saying that Cruz “owed him money or a bomb would explode,” according to an arrest warrant filed in the case. The man, who identified himself as Abolfazi Akbori, called again the same day after the office had closed and left a threatening message on the office’s voicemail system…

The message states, “Ted has a choice. Give me three million dollars or lose the sun.” The caller said that “due to government misconduct the sun would blow up and said he might be able to prevent the sun from blowing up if he receives three million dollars,” according to the arrest warrant.

It didn’t take long for investigators to track down Gates, who allegedly made the threatening calls from his home telephone.

In a June 10 interview at his Houston apartment with an agent with the Federal Protective Services, Gates admitted to making the phone calls, prosecutors said. He told investigators that he previously spent 12 days in the Harris County Mental Health Center.

Comedian Calls Out Muhammad for Pedophilia, Gets Hammered With Death Threats (+video)

Photo Credit: YouTubeComedian Steven Crowder’s recent “Jesus vs. Muhammad” video – just posted this week – has gone viral, generating almost 250,000 views.

Why? Its content is a bit edgy, calling out Muhammad for pedophilia and the Koran for its incitement of violence.

As one might expect, that has generated significant backlash. Crowder is reporting from his Twitter account that he has received many death threats, profanity-laced insults, and other not-so-nice reactions from Muhammad defenders on social media.

Here’s the video that’s created all the fuss:

Two 11-Year-Olds Receive Threats For Testifying Against Same-Sex Marriage

In the past two months, in attempts to offer an argument against same-sex marriage, two children have testified before their state legislators, countering other children who have been testifying for it. The two children testifying against it have either been crudely insulted or received death threats.

In February, speaking to the Minnesota House Committee on Civil Law, 11-year-old Grace Evans offered this statement…

Her father, Jeff Evans, revealed the treatment Grace had received from political opponents:

We haven’t had any physical threats, but we’ve had some rather colorful comments about my 11-year-old. I’ve been monitoring it to keep my family safe and have a heads up on it. It’s really shameful the things that people will say, hiding behind an Internet alias. We see it as more representative of where political discourse is in our country, where you can’t take a position without receiving a great deal of flak, which is unfortunate.

Jon Voight defends Brad Pitt’s mom after she gets death threats for penning anti-Obama letter

Last week, Brad Pitt’s mother Jane Pitt hit headlines after penning a response letter-to-the-editor of her local newspaper, Missouri’s Springfield News Leader, in which she advocated support for Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney, referring to him as a “a family man with high morals, business experience, who is against abortion, and shares Christian conviction concerning homosexuality.”

“Any Christian who does not vote or writes in a name is casting a vote for Romney’s opponent, Barack Hussein Obama – a man who sat in Jeremiah Wright’s church for years, did not hold a public ceremony to mark the National Day of Prayer, and is a liberal who supports the killing of unborn babies and same-sex marriage,” she continued. “I hope all Christians give their vote prayerful consideration because voting is a sacred privilege and a serious responsibility.”

However, it seems the backlash surrounding Jane’s opinion has become so vehement that she has reportedly been “scared into silence.”

According to WND, Mrs. Pitt has not only been the victim of vulgar and hate-filled attacks, but she has also received death threats which have left her very frightened.

“So apparently Brad Pitt’s mom is a c***,” tweeted one, while another wrote that “Brad Pitt’s genetics have been brought into question.”
