Trump Reaffirms ‘Strong’ Support For Pete Hegseth’s Defense Secretary Nomination

President-elect Donald Trump reaffirmed his support for Pete Hegseth’s nomination to become the next secretary of defense on Friday, putting any GOP senator seeking to tank the Army veteran’s confirmation on notice.

“Pete Hegseth is doing very well. His support is strong and deep, much more so than the Fake News would have you believe,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “He was a great student -Princeton/Harvard educated – with a Military state of mind. He will be a fantastic, high energy, Secretary of Defense … one who leads with charisma and skill. Pete is a WINNER, and there is nothing that can be done to change that!!!”

Within the past few days, Hegseth has come under a barrage of unsubstantiated allegations of wrongdoing during his time working at Fox News and spearheading veteran-related nonprofit organizations. Numerous former colleagues and associates have come out strongly disputing the accusations from anonymous individuals.

Dozens of military veterans have signed onto a letter backing Hegseth’s nomination in light of the media’s smear campaign, according to Fox News.

A woman also previously accused Hegseth of sexual assault following a purported 2017 sexual encounter between the two. Prosecutors declined to press charges due to a lack of “proof beyond a reasonable doubt,” according to reports. Trump Reveals Several State Department Picks, Announces Role for Attorney Alina Habba

President-elect Trump announced that Alina Habba would be joining his White House team as the counselor to the President on Sunday evening.

“Alina has been a tireless advocate for Justice, a fierce Defender of the Rule of Law, and an invaluable Advisor to my Campaign and Transition Team,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. “She has been unwavering in her loyalty, and unmatched in her resolve – standing with me through numerous ‘trials,’ battles, and countless days in court.”

The president-elect noted that there are not many who understand the weaponization of the “injustice” system as well as Habba.

“As a first generation American of Middle Eastern Heritage, she has become a role model for women in Law and Politics, most recently being named Chaldean Woman of the Year,” Trump continued. “Congratulations to Alina, her husband Gregg, and her three beautiful children, Chloe, Luke, and Parker.”

Habba responded on X, saying, “Honor of my life to serve the 45th and 47th President of the American people.” (Read more from “Trump Reveals Several State Department Picks, Announces Role for Attorney Alina Habba” HERE)

Trump-Proofing: Biden Officials Strike Deals, Spend Taxpayer Money Before Trump Can Stop It

President Biden’s breathtakingly broad pardon of his son’s criminal behavior is just one step the administration is taking to block potential action from the future president — what analysts call an attempt to “Trump-proof” government.

Mr. Biden’s allies in various departments are rushing to push cash out the door and lock in policies they think President-elect Donald Trump will not favor.

In an undercover video by Project Veritas, one Environmental Protection Agency figure said the agency had been funneling billions of dollars to climate change organizations “as fast as possible.”

“It truly feels like we’re on the Titanic and we’re throwing gold bars off the edge,” said the person, identified in the video as EPA special adviser Brant Efron.

A similar effort to shovel money out the door is underway at the Commerce Department. Politico, a news organization in Washington, said Secretary Gina Raimondo wants to “leave no cash for Trump” from a $50 billion microchip subsidy program. Trump Assassination Hearing Erupts Into Absolute Chaos (VIDEO)

On Thursday, chaos erupted during a task force hearing on the assassination attempts of President-elect Donald Trump.

As Townhall covered extensively, Trump was nearly killed when he was shot in the ear at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania in July.

Shortly after, the USSS thwarted another assassination attempt on the former president, this time, at a golf course in Florida.

During Thursday’s hearing, Texas Rep. Pat Fallon (R) sparred with acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe about the agency’s failures to protect Trump.

The screaming started when Rowe was explaining how he responded to the 9/11 terrorist attacks over 20 years ago. As he explained how he made his way through the rubble of the twin towers, Fallon cut him short and got back to the topic at hand.

Pete Hegseth’s Mother Sets the Record Straight After ‘Despicable’ NYT Published Private Email

The mother of embattled Pete Hegseth, President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for defense secretary, appeared on live television to set the record straight after the New York Times published a private 2018 email sent to her son in which she deeply regrets.

During an interview with Fox and Friends, the show Hegseth used to co-host before being nominated by Trump to work in his cabinet, Penelope Hegseth said she wrote the email out of haste due to her anger in the heat of the moment. She pointed out that she apologized to her son hours later in a second email—which, of course, had not been leaked.

Over the weekend, I covered the absurd NYT article in which the outlet tried to persuade its readers that even Hegseth’s own mother had claimed he has “mistreated women for years” amidst the sexual misconduct allegations against the former news host.

Six years ago, Penelope emailed her son, expressing her disappointment with him amid his divorce. She said he was displaying a “lack of character” and called him an “abuser of women.”

“That is the ugly truth, and I have no respect for any man that belittles, lies, cheats, sleeps around, and uses women for his own power and ego,” Penelope Hegseth wrote. “You are that man (and have been for years), and as your mother, it pains me and embarrasses me to say that, but it is the sad, sad truth,” advising the former Fox News host to “get some help and take an honest look at yourself.” (Read more from “Pete Hegseth’s Mother Sets the Record Straight After ‘Despicable’ NYT Published Private Email” HERE)

Trump’s Press Secretary Pick Deleted Posts Praising Pence and Capitol Cop on Jan. 6

Karoline Leavitt, the longtime Donald Trump aide who will become his White House press secretary when his second term begins in January, removed a pair of social media posts in which she reposted praise of former Vice President Mike Pence for certifying the 2020 election.

The Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine shows that Leavitt — who was then an aide to New York Representative Elise Stefanik — retweeted a January 7, 2021, tweet from Tim Scott spokesperson Ken Farnaso in which he called Pence “a steady hand through the chaos” at the U.S. Capitol the previous day, when a riotous mob of Trump supporters tried to prevent certification of the 2020 election. . .

Three days later, Leavitt retweeted a post from a CNN producer, who shared a screengrab of now-famous video footage of Capitol Police officer Eugene Goodman.

In the widely-viewed video, Goodman is seen goading a pack of rioters and leading them away from the unsecured Senate chamber door, giving senators and staff time to lock the doors as the mob approached the second floor of the Capitol.

Yet, according to CNN, Leavitt subsequently removed both posts as she was attempting to reinvent herself as a pro-Trump congressional candidate ahead of the 2022 midterm elections. (Read more from “Trump’s Press Secretary Pick Deleted Posts Praising Pence and Capitol Cop on Jan. 6” HERE)

Trump Sends Clear Message To Some Of America’s Biggest Companies With His Pick For Top DOJ Spot

President-elect Donald Trump announced Wednesday that he will tap economic policy adviser to Vice President-elect J.D. Vance, Gail Slater, as assistant attorney general for the Antitrust Division at the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Before his second victory, Trump repeatedly called out Big Tech’s involvement in manipulating information behind the scenes, alleging that the companies have “systematically” colluded to advance a “censorship regime.” In an announcement on Truth Social, Trump stated the corporations have used their “market power to crack down on the rights of so many Americans” and “those of Little Tech.”

“I was proud to fight these abuses in my First Term, and our Department of Justice’s antitrust team will continue that work under Gail’s leadership,” Trump wrote.

“In her new role, Gail will help ensure that our competition laws are enforced, both vigorously and FAIRLY, with clear rules that facilitate, rather than stifle, the ingenuity of our greatest companies. Congratulations Gail – Together, we will Make America Competitive Again!” Trump continued. Trump Makes Major Move in Crumbling Fani Willis Case

President-elect Donald Trump has filed a motion requesting that the Georgia Court of Appeals “confirm its lack of jurisdiction” to continue hearing his appeal and then direct the trial court to “immediately dismiss” altogether the Fulton County election interference case against him brought by Democrat DA Fani Willis.

According to the five-page notice of jurisdictional issue filed Wednesday, Trump is arguing the case’s unconstitutionality, now that he is about to enter the White House again with the protection of presidential immunity.

“A sitting president is completely immune from indictment or any criminal process, state or federal,” Trump’s defense counsel wrote.

Accordingly, the U.S. Constitution prohibits “plac[ing] into the hands of a single prosecutor and grand jury the practical power to interfere with the ability of a popularly elected President to carry out his constitutional functions,” as a 2000 memo out of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ)’s Office of Legal Counsel upheld. Trump Vows To Make U.S. Steel Great Again As Debate Smolders Over Nippon Merger

President-elect Donald Trump posted Monday on Truth Social that he opposes the sale of U.S. Steel to Japan-based Nippon Steel Corporation and said he will use a “series of tax incentives and tariffs” to make U.S. Steel strong.

“I am totally against the once great and powerful U.S. Steel being bought by a foreign company, in this case Nippon Steel of Japan,” Trump wrote. “Through a series of Tax Incentives and Tariffs, we will make U.S. Steel Strong and Great Again, and it will happen FAST! As President, I will block this deal from happening. Buyer Beware!!!”

The December 2023 announcement that Nippon intends to buy Pittsburgh-based U.S. Steel for $14.9 billion left many stunned and vowing to block the deal. President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and a bipartisan selection of members of Congress have all expressed a desire to keep the iconic company American-owned.

Soon after the merger announcement a year ago, members of Congress urged the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) to review and block the acquisition based on national security. Steel is used in the construction of bridges, railroad tracks, warships, vehicles, missiles, and munitions, making it critical for the U.S. to maintain control over steel. . .

But U.S. Steel workers have warmed to the idea, seeing the sale to Nippon as a path to modernize their aging plants and keep the fires burning for years to come. With recent comments from President-elect Donald Trump, and federal decisions on the sale imminent, steel workers wonder what the future holds for their industry. Court: Fani Willis Must Turn Over Communications With ‘Get Trump’ Special Counsel, J6 Committee

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis must forfeit any and all communications with Special Counsel Jack Smith and House Democrats’ Jan. 6 Committee, a state judge ruled on Tuesday.

In his six-page order, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney ruled that Willis is “in default” for failing to file court documents responding to a legal challenge brought by Judicial Watch.

The conservative watchdog group filed a lawsuit against Willis in March after the Democrat district attorney denied having any of the records the group sought in an August 2023 open records request. That request aimed to obtain communications between her office and the special counsel and/or the Jan. 6 Committee.

Judicial Watch argued in its lawsuit that Willis’ “representation about not having records responsive to the request is likely false,” citing a December 2023 letter issued to the Fulton County prosecutor by the House Judiciary Committee. The committee indicated that Willis— who indicted Donald Trump and 18 other Republicans last year — “had coordinated [her] politically motivated prosecutions” and “investigative actions” with Smith’s office and the Jan. 6 Committee, respectively.

Despite Willis having multiple opportunities to respond to Judicial Watch’s legal filing, McBurney noted that she “never moved to open default on any basis (not even during the period when she could have opened default as a matter of right), she never paid costs, and she never offered up a meritorious defense.” (Read more from “Court: Fani Willis Must Turn Over Communications With ‘Get Trump’ Special Counsel, J6 Committee” HERE)
