Poll: Trump’s Lead Over DeSantis Grows Ten Points in Two Weeks

Former President Donald Trump continues to dominate the Republican primary field as his lead over Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) has grown ten points in two weeks, according to a YouGov/Economist poll.

The survey, published Wednesday, shows that 54 percent of registered Republicans and independents who plan to vote in their state’s Republican presidential primary back Trump. He has climbed six points since another YouGov/Economist poll taken between July 8-11.

Trump stands 36 points ahead of DeSantis, who registers at 18 percent. DeSantis has fallen off 4 points compared to a few weeks ago, when he garnered 22 percent support. The movement between the top two candidates marks a net gain of ten points to Trump’s lead over DeSantis this month.

Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, who has surged in several recent national polls, has six percent support, which is good enough for third place. He has climbed four points in recent weeks, marking the largest increase in support in the field outside of Trump.

Former President Mike Pence, former Gov. Nikki Haley (R-SC), and Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) tie at three percent, while one percent say they would vote for former Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ). No other candidate secured a percentage point. Another nine percent are undecided, while three percent said they would sit out the primary. Trump Stops Short of Saying He’ll Cut off Money to Ukraine (VIDEO)

Former President Donald Trump declined to say in an interview that aired over the weekend that he would cut off funding to Ukraine.

The remarks were contained in the second part of an interview with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo on “Sunday Morning Futures” that was recorded a little over a week ago.

“Look at all the money we’re giving to Ukraine and yet Ukraine was paying the Biden family a fortune,” Trump said referencing the military aide that U.S. is giving to Ukraine in its war against Russia and the alleged bribes that then-Vice President Biden received.

“Would you stop the money to Ukraine at this point?” Bartiromo asked.

“I’d get the war settled,” Trump responded. “The money is—, number one, I’d tell Europe, you gotta—, you’re about $100+ billion short. Okay? You gotta pay. Because Europe is smiling all the way to the bank. We’re giving all of these, this, Europe is doing very little compared to the United States. And it affects them more.”

Trump World Revels Over Ramaswamy Poll Uptick to Jab DeSantis

Some allies of Donald Trump appear giddy over GOP foe Vivek Ramaswamy’s recent uptick in the polls — because it means the entrepreneur is gaining on the former president’s hated key rival Ron DeSantis.

Ramaswamy, who is now clocking in at 5.9 percentage points in the key RealClearPolitics aggregate, toppled former Vice President Mike Pence at 5.7 points to take over a distant third place among Republican hopefuls behind Florida Gov. DeSantis at 19.3 and Trump at a commanding 51 points.

And unlike many of Trump’s rivals who often face the wrath of his supporters, the 37-year-old Ramaswamy’s rise appears to be getting a somewhat warm reception — at least for now.

A multitude of Trump allies have latched onto Ramaswamy as a cudgel against DeSantis, with whom they have chaffed bitterly.

“Vivek is surging to 2nd place DeSantis is imploding into single digits President Trump remains the dominant frontrunner, and the only candidate the Deep State continues to attack,” MAGA Inc. spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt tweeted. Trump-Appointed Judge Rejects Trump’s Request to Delay Documents Trial Until After Election

A Trump-appointed federal judge overseeing former President Donald Trump’s prosecution on criminal charges related to his handling of classified documents declined Trump’s request to delay the trial until after the 2024 presidential election.

Judge Aileen M. Cannon said in her order that the trial will begin on May 20, 2024. By that point in time, nearly all the voting in the Republican Party’s presidential primary and caucuses will be over.

Cannon’s decision to push the trial back by several months takes a middle-of-the-road approach between what prosecutors and the defense had requested.

Special Counsel Jack Smith had sought for the trial to begin in December 2023 — before any votes were cast in the presidential primaries and caucuses — while Trump had pushed for the trial to be delayed until after the presidential election on November 5, 2024.

The New York Times reported that the jurors will be selected from a handful of counties that Trump “won handily” in the last two presidential elections. (Read more from “Trump-Appointed Judge Rejects Trump’s Request to Delay Documents Trial Until After Election” HERE)

Trump-Loving Ex-CEO Claims to Have ‘Naughty’ Evidence Against Jack Smith

Former Overstock CEO Patrick Byrne claims to have material that could be used against special counsel Jack Smith.

The right-wing former tech mogul responded to Donald Trump’s revelation that he had received a target letter in the Jan. 6 investigation by suggesting he had damning video involving Smith, who has twice served posts to the International Criminal Court in The Hague, reported Newsweek.

Byrne, who resigned from Overstock in 2019 over his relationship with suspected Russian spy Maria Butina, testified for nearly eight hours last July in the House select committee investigation of Trump’s efforts to remain in power despite his 2020 election loss. Democrats Try to Hijack IRS Whistleblower Hearing to Make It About Donald Trump

Democrats on the House Oversight and Government Accountability Committee repeatedly invoked former President Donald Trump and his aides during a hearing addressing alleged Justice Department misconduct in its investigations of Hunter Biden.

House Republicans called the hearing to hear from Internal Revenue Service whistleblowers Gary Shapley and Joe Ziegler, who allege that DOJ political appointees stonewalled their investigation into the president’s son. Several Democrats on the committee, however, repeatedly pivoted to Trump’s alleged political interference at the DOJ. They mentioned his pardoning of former advisers Paul Manafort, Roger Stone and Michael Flynn.

“President Biden’s traditional unscrupulous respect for the independence of the Justice Department stands in sharp contrast to Trump’s spectacular disrespect for the rule of law and his serial efforts, both in office and outside office, to get prosecutors to go after and lock up his political rivals and to suspend accountability in specific criminal cases when it comes to his friends,” ranking member Jamie Raskin of Maryland said.

“When Michael Flynn was investigated for lying to the FBI and later convicted for it about communicating with the Russians, or when Paul Manafort was investigated and later convicted for bank and tax fraud or when Roger Stone was investigated and later convicted for lying to Congress and witness tampering, an outraged President Trump repeatedly denounced the Department of Justice for prosecuting his cronies and reportedly got Attorney General William Barr to pressure prosecutors to recommend more leniency in their cases,” he continued. Trump Says He Would Directly Tell Putin, ‘Honorable’ Zelensky to End War; Trump Claims Media Lying About Ukraine War

By Daily Caller. Former President Donald Trump said Tuesday he would tell Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to end the war between their countries.

Russia invaded Ukraine Feb. 24, 2022, launching a massive attack across the latter country. The United States has sent over $100 billion in aid to Ukraine, and announced in January they would send 31 M1 Abrams main battle tanks after a December announcement that a battery of MIM-104 Patriot surface-to-air missiles would be provided.

“I know Zelenskyy very well because he was very honorable with the fake phone call impeachment hoax number one. They said I made a phone call to him and I was threatening,” Trump told Fox News host Sean Hannity. “I was actually very nice, congratulating him, but when they asked, they said, ‘were you threatened?’ He didn’t even know what they were talking about.”

“He is very honorable. He could’ve done grandstanding and said he felt threatened. He didn’t do that,” Trump continued. “As you know, I get along very well with Putin. I would tell Putin, you’ve got to settle. I would tell Zelenskyy, you’ve got to settle. I would get a settlement in 24 hours.” (Read more from “Trump Says He Would Directly Tell Putin, ‘Honorable’ Zelensky to End War” HERE)

Trump Says Media Lying About Ukraine War: ‘Hundreds of Thousands of People Are Dying’

By Daily Wire. Former President Donald Trump said during an event on Tuesday evening that the legacy media was lying about Russia’s war in Ukraine by underplaying how bad the death and destruction truly are.

Trump made the remarks during an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity in Iowa after he said over the weekend that he would threaten Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war in Ukraine by telling him that if he did not, the U.S. would send more weapons to Ukraine than they have ever received before.

DeSantis Defends Trump After Latest Criminal Indictment, Vows Action

Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis said during an interview on Tuesday that as President of the United States, he will clean house at the FBI and Department of Justice following a series of investigations that have been criticized as being politically motivated.

DeSantis made the remarks during an interview on CNN with host Jake Tapper when asked about the former president saying earlier in the day that he has received a letter informing him that he is the target in an investigation into his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

“If Jack Smith has evidence of criminality, should Donald Trump be held accountable?” Tapper asked.

“So, here’s the problem. This country is going down the road of criminalizing political differences,” DeSantis responded. “I think that’s wrong. Alvin Bragg stretched the statute in Manhattan to be able to try to target Donald Trump. Most people, even people on the Left, acknowledge if that wasn’t Trump, that case would not have likely been brought against a normal civilian.”

“And so you have a situation where the Department of Justice, FBI had been weaponized against people they don’t like, and the number one example that happened to be against Donald Trump with the Russia collusion,” he said. “That was not a legitimate investigation; that was being done to try to drive Trump out of office. And so what I’ve said, as president, my job is to restore a single standard of justice to end weaponization of these agencies.”

GOP Stands With Trump Against Biden’s ‘Unamerican Weaponization’ of DOJ

Republican officials blasted the Justice Department’s January 6 probe and the reportedly imminent indictment of former President Donald J. Trump, expressing support for Trump in the face of the “weaponization” of the justice system against President Joe Biden’s opponents.

Following Trump’s announcement of being a target in the DOJ’s probe, GOP members slammed special counsel Jack Smith’s “corrupt” investigation.

“President Trump just increased his lead in the polls. So what does the Biden Administration do next? Weaponize government to go after President Biden’s number one opponent,” wrote House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

“This is not equal justice. It’s wrong, and the American public is tired of it,” he added.

Trump Rejects Idea That He Didn’t ‘Drain the Swamp’

Former President Donald Trump is pushing back against claims he failed to “drain the swamp” during his first term in the White House.

Fox News’s Maria Bartiromo told Trump in an interview on Sunday Morning Futures that he “didn’t drain the swamp” like he claimed he would. Trump refuted her claim, saying he “fired” a number of people.

“I fired [former FBI Director James] Comey. I fired a lot of people. A lot of the people I had, I fired. I fired Comey very early. And, you know, there was a question as to whether or not you could. But I fired Comey. If I didn’t fire Comey, I don’t think I would have been able to serve out my term because that was a plot.”

Bartiromo asked Trump about his track record of hiring staff that later have spoken out against him, such as former Attorney General Bill Barr, or former Secretary of Defense Mark Esper, and what he would do differently if he gets a second term.

“The mistake would be people,” Trump said — referring to some of his personnel moves. ” I mean, I wouldn’t have put a guy like Bill Barr and he was weak and pathetic. I wouldn’t have put [former Attorney General] Jeff Sessions. And there are some people that I wouldn’t have put in. You know, most people were good, but I had some people… we had [former Secretary of Defense] Mark Esper. I didn’t like him. He was incompetent. I thought we had other people I didn’t like.” (Read more from “Trump Rejects Idea That He Didn’t ‘Drain the Swamp'” HERE)
