Trump Grand Jury Hearing Canceled Today, Delaying Possible Indictment

The Manhattan grand jury hearing evidence against former President Donald Trump won’t reconvene Wednesday as scheduled, court officials told The Post.

The afternoon session was unexpectedly canceled by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, the sources said.

Members of the panel were told to stay home and be on standby for Thursday, a law enforcement source said.

It’s unclear what prompted the move, which forestalls a potentially unprecedented indictment of the 45th president in connection with the payment of $130,000 to porn star Stormy Daniels.

The October 2016 cash transfer was admittedly arranged by former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen to cover up Daniels’ alleged 2006 affair with Trump, who’s denied cheating on his wife Melania Trump with her. (Read more from “Trump Grand Jury Hearing Canceled Today, Delaying Possible Indictment” HERE)

WATCH: This Is DeSantis’ Favorite Trump Nickname for Him

Donald Trump’s likely sparring partner in the race for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination said the former prez can call him whatever he wants, including “winner.”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis was asked by Piers Morgan if he preferred to be called “Ron DeSanctimonious” or “Meatball Ron” by his mentor-turned-rival, in an interview set to air Thursday on TalkTV’s “Piers Morgan Uncensored.”

The Republican told Morgan he didn’t know “how to spell the sanctimonious one.

“I don’t really know what it means, but I kind of like it. It’s long, it’s got a lot of vowels. We’ll go with that. That’s fine,” he quipped.

DeSantis then added: “You can call me whatever you want, just as long as you also call me a winner.” (Read more from “This Is DeSantis’ Favorite Trump Nickname for Him” HERE)

Ron Takes on Don: DeSantis Rips Trump’s Character, Chaotic Leadership Style

By New York Post. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has finally taken the gloves off and launched a blistering attack on his former mentor President Donald Trump. . .

On Monday, Trump went nuts after DeSantis took a shot at him over his anticipated indictment over alleged payoffs to ex-lover Stormy Daniels, saying, “I don’t know what goes into paying hush money to a porn star to secure silence over some type of alleged affair.”

The inferred morally censorious tone sparked a furious response from Trump, who raged on his own Truth Social platform: “Ron DeSanctimonious will probably find out about FALSE ACCUSATIONS & FAKE STORIES sometime in the future, as he gets older, wiser and better known when he’s unfairly and illegally attacked by a woman, even classmates that are ‘underage’ (or possibly a man!). I’m sure he will want to fight these misfits just like I do!” . . .

When I asked DeSantis to cite specific differences between him and Trump, he said: “Well I think there’s a few things. The approach to COVID was different. I would have fired somebody like Fauci. I think he got way too big for his britches, and I think he did a lot of damage.”

DeSantis also slammed Trump’s chaotic, self-obsessed, and divisive management style, saying: “I also think just in terms of my approach to leadership, I get personnel in the Government who have the agenda of the people and share our agenda. You bring your own agenda in you’re gone. We’re just not gonna have that. So, the way we run the Government I think is no daily drama, focus on the big picture and put points on the board and I think that’s something that’s very important.” (Read more from “Ron Takes on Don: DeSantis Rips Trump’s Character, Chaotic Leadership Style” HERE)

DeSantis Hits Republican Poll Low as Trump Tightens Grip on Primary

By The Guardian. Donald Trump may be in legal trouble over his alleged weakness for vice, but his predicament is increasingly placing Ron DeSantis – his chief rival for the Republican presidential nomination – in a political vise. . .

DeSantis has floated criticism of Trump over the hush money payment but on Tuesday a new poll showed how Trump, who is also fundraising off his legal peril, has tightened his grip on the primary race.

The Morning Consult survey shows the former president has 54% support among likely primary voters and DeSantis has 26%, tying his lowest score since the poll began in December.

The two men are still way ahead of the rest of the field. Trump’s former vice-president, Mike Pence, was third in the Morning Consult poll, with 7%, three points ahead of Nikki Haley, the former South Carolina governor.

Liz Cheney, the former Wyoming representative who lost her seat after turning against Trump over the January 6 attack on Congress, and who has not ruled out a run, had 3% support. No one else, including likely candidates Mike Pompeo and Tim Scott, got more than a point. (Read more from “Desantis Hits Republican Poll Low as Trump Tightens Grip on Primary” HERE)

Trump Announces Plan to ‘Dismantle the Deep State’

Ahead of a prospective arrest on Tuesday, former President Donald Trump posted a plan to take on the “deep state,” a supposed cabal of anti-Trump federal officials working against his political agenda.

Trump’s 10-point plan largely addresses pervasive internal issues that plagued his first administration, such as leaking and bureaucratic intransigence.

First among his points was a vow to reissue a 2020 executive order “restoring the president’s authority to remove rogue bureaucrats,” a power he promised to wield “very aggressively.”

He further vowed to “clean out all of the corrupt actors in our national security and intelligence apparatus, and there are plenty of them. The departments and agencies that have been weaponized will be completely overhauled so that faceless bureaucrats will never again be able to target and persecute conservatives, Christians, or the left’s political enemies.”

Third, he vowed to reform (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act) FISA courts, which he maligned as corrupt and lamented that the judges were seemingly indifferent to the facts when addressing warrant applications. The FBI secured a FISA warrant to spy on former Trump aide Carter Page in 2016, which later faced legal challenges. (Read more from “Trump Announces Plan to ‘Dismantle the Deep State’” HERE)

There’s Been a Development in the Case Against Trump

The Manhattan grand jury weighing an indictment against former President Donald Trump has reportedly scheduled testimony from another witness on Wednesday, pushing off any decision and delaying a potential indictment against the 45th president, despite Trump’s speculation about his own indictment and arrest “on Tuesday.”

According to a report from Fox News, citing a source in law enforcement, authorities now don’t expect a potential arraignment for Trump, if he is indicted, until next week due to testimony from the additional witness whose identity remains unknown.

The reported delay for a decision from the grand jury comes after NYPD ordered its officers to wear full uniforms on Tuesday and continued ramping up its security preparations, as Leah reported on Tuesday.

If the former president is indicted and arraigned, Trump will appear in-person in Manhattan because appearing for a “virtual arraignment” has already been “ruled out,” according to Fox News’ reporting. (Read more from “There’s Been a Development in the Case Against Trump” HERE)

DeSantis Breaks Silence on Potential Trump Indictment

Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis broke his silence Monday about former President Donald Trump’s possible indictment.

Trump announced Saturday he expects to be arrested Tuesday by the Manhattan District Attorneys Office, which is led by Alvin Bragg. The potential indictment relates to a years-long investigation into whether Trump paid hush money to former porn star actress Stormy Daniels. Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen, sent $130,000 to Daniels so she would not disclose her alleged affair. Cohen claims Trump then reimbursed him for the payments, with authorities investigating whether Trump forged business records to hide the alleged payout.

DeSantis broke his silence on the issue Monday.

“The Manhattan District Attorney is a Soros-funded prosecutor and so he like, other Soros funded prosecutors, they weaponize their office to impose a political agenda on society at the expense of the rule of law and public safety,” DeSantis said.

‘That’s Obviously the Play Here’: Matt Walsh Has an Interesting Theory on Why Trump Might Get Arrested

The possibility of the Manhattan Criminal Court indicting former President Donald Trump on charges related to hush money payments to Stormy Daniels has led to a variety of theories around the inevitable political fallout to come.

Though the charges reportedly to be brought against Trump initially don’t appear to be anything that would land him in jail for even a day, the possibility of handcuffs and a perp walk for the former president has Democrats salivating and conservatives, even Trump critics, aghast that partisan politics have descended so low. This is the stuff of banana republics and Third World dictatorships, not what was not so long ago the beacon of the free world. . .

Enter the Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh, who suggested Saturday that the motivation could be to make just enough of a martyr out of Trump to ensure he wins the GOP nomination – even against a potential strong challenger like Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis – but ultimately runs out of steam and loses the general election.

“They want Trump to be the Republican nominee,” Walsh wrote Saturday morning. “That’s obviously the play here. There is no other conceivable reason to arrest and perp walk him on a bull***t misdemeanor charge. I might be overestimating the tactical intelligence of the idiot power-hungry hacks behind this. But if there is any political strategy then that has to be it.”

I think Walsh is on to something. If Democrats want Trump to be the nominee – and if you watch two seconds of MSNBC punditry you’ll know all arrows point to yes on that score – it’s because they know he can be easily beaten in the general. They can’t wait to ignite their base and replay January 6th footage from the time Trump is nominated until the day Biden or whoever replaces him wins in an Electoral College landslide. Their worst nightmare, on the other hand, is someone with Trump’s policies but none of his baggage, like DeSantis. Leading Conservatives Issue Warning as Trump Indictment Allegedly Looms

. . .[W]hile Trump called for protests, leading conservatives and attorneys who have worked on cases of January 6 defendants are issuing warnings not to take the bait. They’re also sounding the alarm about what arrests could mean for the average person.

Trump Says He Will Be Arrested This Week; Democrats Accuse Trump of ‘Inciting Violence,’ as All Part of His ‘Playbook’

Trump Says He Expects to Be Arrested Tuesday as New York Law Enforcement Prepares for Possible Indictment

By CNN. Former President Donald Trump said Saturday he expects to be arrested in connection with the yearslong investigation into a hush money scheme involving adult film actress Stormy Daniels and called on his supporters to protest any such move.

In a social media post, Trump, referring to himself, said the “leading Republican candidate and former president of the United States will be arrested on Tuesday of next week” – though he did not say why he expects to be arrested. His team said after Trump’s post that it had not received any notifications from prosecutors. . .

In an echo of Trump’s appeals to supporters in the wake of the 2020 presidential election, he called Saturday for action, writing: “Protest, take our nation back.” (Read more from “Trump Says He Expects to Be Arrested Tuesday as New York Law Enforcement Prepares for Possible Indictment” HERE)

Elizabeth Warren, Marjorie Taylor Green Agree People Shouldn’t Protest Alleged Trump Arrest

By Fox News. Democrat Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren said there’s “no reason to protest” following former President Donald Trump’s claim he will likely be arrested this week for alleged hush money payments, appearing to echo Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s similar comment to not protest. . .

Trump took to Truth Social on Saturday and said leaks from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office indicate that he will be arrested Tuesday.

“NOW ILLEGAL LEAKS FROM A CORRUPT & HIGHLY POLITICAL MANHATTAN DISTRICT ATTORNEYS OFFICE, WHICH HAS ALLOWED NEW RECORDS TO BE SET IN VIOLENT CRIME & WHOSE LEADER IS FUNDED BY GEORGE SOROS, INDICATE THAT, WITH NO CRIME BEING ABLE TO BE PROVEN, & BASED ON AN OLD & FULLY DEBUNKED (BY NUMEROUS OTHER PROSECUTORS!) FAIRYTALE, THE FAR & AWAY LEADING REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE & FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, WILL BE ARRESTED ON TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK. PROTEST, TAKE OUR NATION BACK!” Trump wrote on Truth Social. . .

Taylor Greene made a similar remark to Warren’s about not protesting over the matter, calling on Trump supporters to not take to the streets and arguing that “these idiots are sealing their own fate” in 2024 over the potential arrest. Democrats Accuse Trump of ‘Inciting Violence,’ as All Part of His ‘Playbook’

By Townhall. I’m sure if Democrats could, they would throw a parade in the wake of the news that former President Trump is facing potential indictment, making it a bit easier for them to keep the White House in 2024 and to push their radical agenda on Americans.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif) denounced Trump’s call for his supporters to protest, accusing him of inciting violence.

“The former president’s announcement this morning is reckless: doing so to keep himself in the news & to foment unrest among his supporters,” Pelosi tweeted. “He cannot hide from his violations of the law, disrespect for our elections, and incitements to violence. Rightfully, our legal system will decide how to hold him accountable.”

This comes after Trump took to his Truth Social account to tell his followers he would be arrested next Tuesday.

“PROTEST, TAKE OUR NATION BACK!” Trump wrote. (Read more from “Democrats Accuse Trump of ‘Inciting Violence,’ as All Part of His ‘Playbook'” HERE)

Elon Musk Predicts Trump Wins ‘in a Landslide Victory’ if Arrested

Twitter CEO Elon Musk predicted former President Donald Trump would benefit greatly in the 2024 presidential election should he be arrested.

“If this happens, Trump will be re-elected in a landslide victory,” Musk said in a tweet Saturday in response to a Twitter exchange discussing the possibility of Trump being placed in handcuffs following an indictment. . .

If Trump is indicted, it would be the first time in history that a former U.S. president has been charged with a criminal offense. Trump denies any wrongdoing and claims he is being targeted by a political witch hunt. He called on supporters to protest.

Musk reinstated Trump on Twitter in November in response to a public poll. Trump has yet to use the social media platform since that time, but last week he did post to Facebook for the first time since the events of January 6, 2021.
