DeSantis 2024? Governor Has Strong Lead Over Trump in New Primary Poll, Beats Biden in Popular Vote; Trump v Desantis: Republicans Split Over 2024 Run and Predict ‘Blood on the Floor’

By Daily Wire. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has a seven point lead over former President Donald Trump in who Republican voters want to see as the party’s 2024 presidential nominee, according to a new poll released this week.

The Economist/YouGov poll found that Republican voters want DeSantis over Trump, 46% to 39%, and Independent voters also want DeSantis over Trump, 34% to 21%. For all voters, DeSantis had a whopping 15-point lead over the former president, 43% to 28%.

DeSantis beat Trump in every demographic that the poll measured except among Hispanic voters, as the two candidates were tied 37% to 37%.

DeSantis beat Trump in the following demographics: Men (+6%), women (+20%), whites (+15%), blacks (+17%), 18-29 year olds (+12%), 30-44 year olds (+1%), 45-64 year olds (+18%), 65+ year olds (+19%), income <$50k (+6%), income $50-$100k (+22%), $100k+ (+15%), 2020 Biden Voters (+21%), 2020 Trump Voters (+11%), Democrats (+19%), Independents (+13%), Republicans (+7%), Liberals (+5%), Moderates (+19%), Conservatives (+18%), Urban (+8%), Suburban (+19%), and Rural (+11%). The poll comes after a poll from YouGov last week found that DeSantis had gained an advantage over Trump in who Republicans wanted to see as the party’s 2024 nominee. Trump v Desantis: Republicans Split Over 2024 Run and Predict ‘Blood on the Floor’

By The Guardian. Terri Burl was an early member of Women for Trump. As chair of her local Republican party branch in northern Wisconsin, she twice campaigned vigorously for his election in the key swing state. By the time Trump left office, Burl rated him the greatest president since Ronald Reagan. Maybe even better.

But now Burl has had enough.

She viewed the prospect of Trump announcing another run for the presidency – as he did in Florida on Tuesday evening – with trepidation. Burl predicts “a lot of blood on the floor” if it comes to a fight with rightwing Florida governor Ron DeSantis for the Republican nomination, and defeat in the 2024 election if the former US president is the candidate.

“I will back whoever the Republicans choose to run in 2024. That’s a given. But I want them to go through the primaries and I hope it’s not Trump. He has too much baggage now. We need new blood because it’s obvious that he can’t get to business now without doing things to make people angry. His behaviour hasn’t changed,” she said. . .

The Republicans’ failure to deliver the much promised “red wave” in the midterms was a significant blow to Trump’s claim to be the voice of his party’s voters, not least because of the defeat of key candidates endorsed by him. But backing from the grass roots, which gave him a tight grip on the Republicans for years and kept its hostile leadership at bay, has been eroding for months. Social Media Platforms Have No Plans to Lift Bans on Trump’s Accounts Despite Third White House Bid

Facebook officials said Wednesday that the social media platform has no plans to reinstate the account of former President Donald Trump, despite announcing his bid earlier this week for a second term in the White House in 2024.

Officials suspended Trump initially for only 24-hours after rioters hijacked the former president’s rally at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. Other social media companies, including Youtube, Snapchat, Twitter, and Instagram, owned by Facebook’s parent company Meta, followed suit and suspended Trump’s accounts almost immediately.

Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Facebook, later placed an indefinite ban on Trump’s account on January 7, saying that “the risks of allowing the President to continue to use our service during this period are simply too great.”

Ivy Choi, a spokeswoman for YouTube, told The Associated Press the video-sharing platform also has no plans to remove the suspension on Trump’s account.

Heidi Beirich, the founder of the Global Project Against Hate and Extremism and a member of the Real Facebook Oversight Board, told The Associated Press that social media companies would be justified to extend such restrictions or permanently ban Trump on their platforms. Ex-Defense Secretary for Trump Says Former President Is ‘Unfit for Office’

Former Secretary of Defense Mark Esper thinks former President Donald Trump is “unfit for office” and that the GOP should look elsewhere for a primary candidate.

Esper said of Trump he “wishes he wouldn’t” run for office after the former president announced his 2024 candidacy on Tuesday night in Mar-a-Lago.

“I think he’s unfit for office,” he said in an interview with CNN. “I thought his remarks were very subdued and uninspiring.”

He added that he hopes the Republican Party will turn its attention to a different candidate rather than backing Trump again.

“I think that its time for the Republican Party, and frankly, both parties, to move on to a next generation of leaders, and particularly leaders that can unify our country and get us back to a more normal governance where we treat each other with dignity and respect, and we work on policy issues and not personal attacks,” Esper said. Running Man: Trump Announces 2024 Bid

. . .Following months of dropping hints about another run for the White House, former President Donald Trump officially debuted his 2024 presidential campaign at his South Florida resort, Mar-a-Lago, on Tuesday night in the hope of making “America great and glorious again.”

Though Trump is the first major Republican contender to throw his hat in the ring, his announcement comes as the GOP is reeling from a lackluster midterm outing, and some in the party are weighing dumping the former president for rising star Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL).

“There’s never been anything like it, this great movement of ours,” Trump said after strutting up to the podium while Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA” played. “America’s comeback starts right now.”

“Two years ago, we were a great nation, and soon we will be a great nation again,” he continued. “The decline of America is being forced upon us by Biden and the radical left lunatics running our government right into the ground. This decline is not a fate we must accept. When given the choice boldly, clearly, and directly, I believe the American people will overwhelmingly reject the Left’s platform of national ruin, and they will embrace our platform of national greatness and glory to America.” (Read more from “Running Man: Trump Announces 2024 Bid” HERE)

DeSantis Leads Trump by Double Digits in Key States, Conservative Polling Memo Shows

By Washington Examiner. Polls conducted for a prominent conservative organization show Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) boasting a large lead over former President Donald Trump in hypothetical one-on-one matches in several key states.

A polling memo from WPA Intelligence, which performed the surveys on behalf of Club for Growth Action, found Trump trailing DeSantis by double digits in the Iowa caucus, New Hampshire primary, Florida primary, and Georgia primary.

The biggest leads for DeSantis are in Florida, with 56% compared to Trump’s 30%, and in Georgia, at 55% against Trump’s 35%. In all four states, the numbers have only gotten better for DeSantis, while support for Trump has waned.

“Republicans need to be united behind a strong candidate and a platform that shows voters real solutions to beat Biden and the Democrats in 2024,” said a statement from Club for Growth President David McIntosh. “Our polling shows that Republican primary voters recognize Trump’s insults against Republicans as hollow and counterproductive, and it’s taking a significant toll on his support.” (Read more from “DeSantis Leads Trump by Double Digits in Key States, Conservative Polling Memo Shows” HERE)

Lara Trump Warns Ron DeSantis to Not Run Against Her Father-In-Law

By Business Insider. Lara Trump has warned Ron DeSantis against running for president in 2024.

“I think that Ron DeSantis is very smart. Look, he’s a young guy. There will be a lot of opportunity for him in the future, and he knows this, to run for president. I think he’s probably waiting to see what my father-in-law does,” she told Sky News Australia host Erin Molan on Sunday. DeSantis is 44 years old, nearly three decades younger than former President Donald Trump, who is 76.

Lara Trump, a Fox News contributor who is married to Trump’s son Eric, suggested DeSantis run for president in 2028.

“I think he’s a smart enough guy to know that it will be great to have all the support of this party, of the America First MAGA movement — whatever you want to call it — fully behind him in 2028 than possibly fracturing it in 2024,” Trump said.

Trump-Supporters Are Changing Their Minds on Who They Want to Run In 2024

There’s is no denying it: Former President Trump has a following. . .

However, a change is brewing among Republicans as the midterm elections didn’t bring a red wave as they had hoped, blaming Trump’s involvement in key candidate races.

According to a new YouGov poll, the majority of Republicans want Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla) to be the GOP’s 2024 presidential nominee.

42 percent of voters would rather see DeSantis on the ballot compared to 35 percent who would prefer Trump.

“More Republicans and Republican-leaning Independents now say they’d prefer DeSantis (42%) as their 2024 presidential nominee over Trump than say they’d prefer Trump to DeSantis (35%)… that’s a reversal from nearly a month ago, when — according to a Yahoo News/YouGov poll of U.S. adults — just 35% preferred DeSantis and 45% said they preferred Trump,” the survey stated. Trump Files Lawsuit to Avoid Jan. 6 Committee Subpoena

Former President Donald Trump is suing the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to block a subpoena requiring him to testify.

The suit contends that, while former presidents have voluntarily agreed to provide testimony or documents in response to congressional subpoenas in the past, “no president or former president has ever been compelled to do so.”

“Long-held precedent and practice maintain that separation of powers prohibits Congress from compelling a President to testify before it,” Trump attorney David A. Warrington said in a statement announcing Trump’s intentions.

He said Trump had “engaged with the Committee in a good faith effort to resolve these concerns consistent with Executive Branch prerogatives and separation of powers,” but said the panel “insists on pursuing a political path, leaving President Trump with no choice but to involve the third branch, the judicial branch, in this dispute between the executive and legislative branches.”

The suit likely dooms the prospect of Trump ever having to testify, given that the committee is expected to disband at the end of the legislative session in January. The committee did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the suit. (Read more from “Trump Files Lawsuit to Avoid Jan. 6 Committee Subpoena” HERE)

Trump: DeSantis a ‘Fine Guy,’ but He Could ‘Hurt Himself Very Badly’ by Running in 2024

Former President Trump said if he formally announces a 2024 White House bid and is re-elected, he would return to the nation’s capital with experience and a new perspective, without having to rely on Washington insiders, and would build on his “unbeatable” America First record.

The former president sat for a wide-ranging interview on Trump Force One, a Boeing 757, Monday night with Fox News Digital and four other reporters after teasing during a rally in Dayton, Ohio that he plans make a “major” announcement from Mar-a-Lago on Nov.15, likely regarding the launch of his possible third presidential campaign. . .

Before that though, Trump is calling for a GOP leadership change in Congress, specifically pointing to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky. He also warned potential Republican presidential candidates, like Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, against running against him in 2024, saying it would not “be good for the party.”

Reflecting on his administration from 2017 to 2021 and people he tapped to serve in top cabinet posts, Trump said, “I never did this before.”

“Part of the problem was that I wasn’t a Washington person,” Trump said. “You have to rely on people — I had a lot of great people, but I had to rely on people who were RINOs.” (Read more from “Trump: DeSantis a ‘Fine Guy,’ but He Could ‘Hurt Himself Very Badly’ by Running in 2024” HERE)

Dems Accused of Scheming to Claim Election Victory No Matter the Votes

Democrats, reacting to President Trump’s claims of a stolen 2020 presidential election, launched into a campaign against “election deniers” that they still pursue, despite the fact members of their own party are outspoken “election deniers” after any election won by a Republican.

Of course, after the fact, we learned that in the 2020 race the FBI lobbied Big Tech to suppress damaging information about the Biden family’s business dealings, and Mark Zuckerberg handed out, through foundations, $400 million plus, and the evidence shows either one of those factors likely changed the election winner from President Trump to Joe Biden. . .

Now THEY will, charges John Daniel Davidson, senior editor at The Federalist.

In a column at that publication, he pointed out that Democrats and corporate media on their side “have been pushing hard the message that we won’t know the results of key races for days, maybe weeks.”

“It’s not just about counting absentee ballots, it’s about getting the rigging in place, either to claim victory or deny the legitimacy of the vote. Whatever Democrats say they fear Republican ‘election deniers’ might do, they themselves are preparing to do the same or worse,” he wrote. Trump Wants to Announce He Is Running for President ‘ASAP’; Could Come as Early as Today: Report

Several Republican operatives are reportedly on edge amid speculation that former President Donald Trump will make his 2024 presidential bid official Monday evening.

Confidants close to Trump believe he is chomping at the bit and could expedite his timetable for debuting his comeback bid to Monday night’s rally in Ohio where he will be stumping for Republican Senate hopeful J.D. Vance and others, according to Axios reporter Jonathan Swan. . .

Trump has repeatedly teased his 2024 ambitions during rallies, including Sunday night in Miami in which he proclaimed he will “probably have to do it again.” Prior reporting indicated that Trump had been eyeing a campaign launch after the midterm elections and that the date in mind was Nov. 14.
