During a briefing on Thursday, CBS News’ Weijia Jiang asked White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki about the video from Iran showing a mock drone assassination of former President Donald Trump.
After bringing up the video, Jiang asked: “Is the intelligence community assessing this threat and working with former President Trump to offer protection of any kind?”
Psaki responded, saying that she wouldn’t “speak to the work of our intelligence community.” However, she added that this kind of “offensive rhetoric and behavior” from Iran’s leader has been seen before.
Jiang pressed again, but Psaki said she didn’t have “more details.”
The reporter did later receive a response from the White House, which condemned the video, noted that intelligence matters aren’t discussed publicly, and added: “The United States will protect and defend its citizens. Twitter is allowing official Iranian government accounts to issue death threats against former president Donald Trump and other Trump administration officials.
Twitter’s refusal to remove these ongoing threats is renewing congressional scrutiny on the social media platform. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the regime’s paramilitary fighting force that engages in terrorism and assassination plots, tweeted during the weekend that it will take revenge for the death of terror mastermind Qassem Soleimani, who two years ago was killed in Iraq in a drone strike ordered by Trump.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran considers vengeance against those responsible for the Baghdad crime to be the right of all believers; whether they are drops in the ocean or bits of sand in the desert they’ll seek vengeance next to the criminals’ homes,” the corps’s official account tweeted in Farsi, alongside a picture of Trump golfing. The post was independently translated for the Washington Free Beacon.

The tweet is the latest Iranian threat, online and elsewhere, to assassinate Trump and other senior U.S. officials—including former secretary of state Mike Pompeo—for their role in Soleimani’s killing. Republican lawmakers in comments to the Free Beacon said that Twitter continues to unevenly uphold its community guidelines. Violence and threats are not tolerated on the platform, and prominent conservative voices, including Trump, have been banned from the platform for alleged infractions. Top Iranian officials, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and scores of other terrorist groups, however, use Twitter to promote violence against the United States, Israel, Jews, and other U.S. allies. Former Jeffrey Epstein attorney Alan Dershowitz lobbied then-President Donald Trump to pardon madam Ghislaine Maxwell before she could face trial, according to a report.
The 83-year-old lawyer — himself long accused of having sex with one of late pedophile Epstein’s teen accusers — pushed for the pardon after UK media heiress Maxwell was arrested in July 2020 for the sex-trafficking crimes she was convicted of last month, the Times of London said.
The retired Harvard law professor was able to use his close ties to Trump, whom he also represented during his impeachment trial, the paper said.
One of the convicted madam’s brothers, Ian Maxwell, 65, confirmed to the UK paper that he had discussed the possibility of clemency with Dershowitz, who got Epstein his controversial wrist-slap 2008 plea deal on sex offenses with underage girls. Iran’s imposition of “sanctions” on dozens of Americans amounts to an assassination threat against members of former President Donald Trump’s administration, according to a senior U.S. official who threatened “severe consequences” for any harm done to them.
“Make no mistake: the United States of America will protect and defend its citizens,” White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said Sunday. “This includes those serving the United States now and those who formerly served.”
Iranian officials have made explicit their interest in killing one of the people involved in the U.S. strike that killed Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Gen. Qassem Soleimani. The regime observed the second anniversary of his death last week, which occasioned a flurry of truculent rhetoric and the unveiling of economic sanctions by Iran that U.S. observers take as a proxy for a threat of violence.
“Wherever it is needed, we will provide for the basis of revenge against the Americans from within their houses and by people by their side without us being present,” IRGC Quds Force Commander Sardar Esmail Qaani said in remarks published by Iranian media. “If wise people in America are found who deal with those who committed the atrocity of assassinating Commander Soleimani, this action will be much less burdensome for America than if the offspring of the Resistance Front, who know no bounds, to themselves go and take this revenge.”

Gutfeld said:
Well, this was the guy that was supposed to united the country and we’ve pretty much seen what he’s turned out to be. He basically, what he did, was he scolded millions of Americans for what he believes something very bad that they did. He is presuming their guilt. He is assuming they are guilty. That’s not what a president should do.
He just reversed the presumption of innocence, concluding that all of those people there were guilty, and he is doing it from the highest office in the land. This is exactly what he did with the border patrol agent. This is exactly what he did with Kyle Rittenhouse, there isn’t a citizen in America that he would not bash if it suited him politically without the actual facts, without the truth.

Former President Donald Trump’s new social media platform Truth Social is expected to launch on Presidents’ Day, Feb. 21, according to the latest Apple App Store listing.
Truth Social, which the 45th president announced in October, is the latest conservative alternative to large social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook, which the former president has repeatedly slammed for censorship.
The new app is being launched by Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) and can be preordered before its expected release date.
According to the app store listing, users of the platform can share their “unique opinion by posting a TRUTH, Re-TRUTH, photo, news story or video link to communicate with your friends, customers, and the world.”

In the year since the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, a handful of Democrats, constitutional scholars and pro-democracy advocates have been quietly exploring how a post-Civil War amendment to the Constitution might be used to disqualify former President Trump from holding office again.
Calls for Congress to take steps to strip Trump of his eligibility, which reached a crescendo in the aftermath of the Jan. 6 riot, have since decreased. But those who remain engaged on the issue say discussions about applying Section 3 of the 14th Amendment have been ongoing.
“If anything, the idea has waxed and waned,” said Laurence Tribe, a constitutional expert at Harvard Law School. “I hear it being raised with considerable frequency these days both by media commentators and by members of Congress and their staffs, some of whom have sought my advice on how to implement Section 3.”
An analysis by The Hill found that around a dozen Democratic lawmakers have spoken either publicly or privately over the last year about how Section 3 of the 14th Amendment might apply to those who engaged in insurrection on Jan. 6.
Among those whose offices have spoken recently with Tribe are Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), who sits on the Jan. 6 House Select Committee; Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.), who chairs the powerful House Judiciary Committee; and Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.). Former President Donald Trump’s approval rating has increased since he left office a year ago, and nearly 9 in 10 Republicans now have a favorable view of him.
In dual surveys on Thursday showing Trump’s rise and successor President Joe Biden’s fall, 52% of voters told Rasmussen Reports that they have a favorable impression of the former president. Some 47% don’t.
Among Republicans, 85% have a favorable view, with 63% declaring a “very favorable” opinion. Even 23% of Democrats and 51% of independents agree.
When he left office on Jan. 20, 2021, Trump’s Rasmussen approval rating was 51%. And his GOP approval was 84%, so he has actually increased support.
The survey, like others before it, shows that many Republicans are sticking with Trump despite efforts by legacy media and Democrats to ridicule the 45th president and blame him for the Jan. 6 Capitol riots and dividing the nation. Joe Biden on Thursday, the anniversary of the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol, unleashed a vitriolic attack on “former president” Donald Trump, but ignored the evidence that there were, in fact, issues coming out of the 2020 presidential election that should cause concern for Americans.
Those issues are that a review of the impact of the decision by leftist legacy and social media companies to suppress accurate reporting about Hunter Biden and his foreign dealings, some apparently involving Joe Biden, revealed that had those reports been carried more widely, enough people would have withheld their vote for Joe Biden to keep Trump in the White House. . .
Biden, according to the Washington Examiner, charged, “For the first time in our history, a president had not just lost an election, he tried to prevent the peaceful transfer of power as a violent mob breached the Capitol. But they failed. They failed.”
He claimed that, “A former president of the United States has created and spread a web of lies about the 2020 election. He’s done so because he values power over principle … he can’t accept that he lost.”
And he incorrectly claimed, “Right now, in state after state, new laws are being written, not to protect the vote but to deny it. Not only to suppress the vote but to subvert it … the former president and his supporters have decided the only way for them to win is to suppress your vote and to subvert our elections. While marking the one-year anniversary of the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riot this Thursday, President Joe Biden will attribute blame for the chaotic and violent episode to then-President Donald Trump, according to White House press secretary Jen Psaki.
During a press briefing on Wednesday, Psaki was asked whether the president will discuss Trump’s “role in the riot.”
“Yes,” the press secretary responded.
Psaki said that she expects the president to discuss “the singular responsibility President Trump” bears for the “chaos” as well as the “carnage.” She said that Biden “will forcibly push back on the lies spread by” Trump.
She said that Biden will talk about “the importance in history of the peaceful transfer of power, of what we need to do to protect our own democracy and be forward looking. But he will also reflect on the role his predecessor had.”
