President Trump Nominates Army Secretary Mark Esper as Defense Secretary

President Trump announced his intention to nominate Army Secretary Mark Esper as defense secretary on Friday in a White House statement.

The move comes after Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan, whom Trump previously had nominated for the position, withdrew his name from consideration Tuesday.

Trump announced Shanahan’s withdrawal and his appointment of Esper as acting defense secretary at the same time. Esper begins as acting defense secretary on Monday. . .

Esper previously served as a vice president for government relations at Raytheon Company. He served in the Army as an infantry officer in the 101 Airborne Division and served in the first Gulf War. He transitioned to the National Guard and retired after 21 years of service.

Esper also worked on national security issues on Capitol Hill for then-Sens. Chuck Hagel (R-NE), Fred Thompson (R-TN), and Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-TN). He also served on the Senate Foreign Relations and House Armed Services Committees and as a deputy assistant secretary of defense. He is a West Point graduate. Will He Be Dragged for Treason? Obama Accepted Unsolicited Intelligence from a Foreign Source During 2016 Election

The liberal media went nuts. The Democrats had what was to be their 10,000th meltdown over something President Trump did or said. In this case, it would his remarks about accepting dirt on his opponent from foreign sources, which he said during an interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos, a former Clinton political operative. Trump said it’s called opposition research. This isn’t anything new. It’s amazing, the gaslighting effort the Left is deploying on this front. It’s not shocking because…Hillary Clinton did it. The Clinton campaign hired Fusion GPS, who then hired ex-MI6 spook Christopher Steele to compile the document known as the Trump dossier; Democrats footed the bill for this operation.

The dossier was trash. The Mueller report debunked it, but at the time, it was a political opposition research document. It also cited sources still active in the Kremlin. And this information, shoddy and unverified, was used to secure a FISA spy warrant against Carter Page, a former foreign policy advisor to the Trump campaign. So, no, accepting dirt on your opponent from a foreign source did happen. It does happen. And even Obama accepted unsolicited advice from a foreign source during the 2016 election relating to Trump-Russia collusion. John Solomon of The Hill has more:

In July 2016, the Obama administration accepted unsolicited information from Alexander Downer, an Australian diplomat who just happened to have helped arrange a $25 million government donation to the Clinton Foundation years before. Downer said that he had witnessed a Trump campaign aide, George Papadopoulos, bragging about some dirt that the Russians supposedly had on Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

Though Downer’s claim was reported two-plus months after the alleged event, and was only hearsay gathered at a London tavern, the Obama administration gave it to the FBI which, in turn, thought it was weighty enough to justify opening a counterintelligence case against the lawfully elected Republican nominee for president. . .

In October 2016, less than three weeks from Election Day, the Obama Justice Department approved a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrant to spy on the Trump campaign through its former adviser, Carter Page. The primary evidence supporting the warrant? A dossier written by a foreign friendly named Christopher Steele, a retired MI6 intelligence agent from Great Britain. Of course, the Justice Department and the FBI forgot to tell the courts that Steele actually was working on behalf of the Clinton campaign, but that’s a small detail for the purpose of this column.

Trump Raises ‘Jaw-Dropping’ Amount of Money in a Single Day

By PJ Media. Everyone is aware of the incredibly large campaign kickoff event in Orlando on Tuesday, but the official launching of the reelection campaign was even more successful than just the incredible number of people who wanted to attend. The Washington Post reports that Donald Trump raised an incredible $24.8 million in less than 24 hours. That one-day total is more than any Democratic presidential candidate raised in the entire first quarter. . .

Joe Biden raised $6.3 million in the first 24 hours of his campaign launching and nearly $20 million to date. Bernie Sanders raised $20.7 million in the first quarter. (Read more from “Trump Raises ‘Jaw-Dropping’ Amount of Money in a Single Day” HERE)

Trump Stages His Greatest Show Yet

By Politico. . .As soon as Trump took the stage in his signature red tie, the crowd seemed pleased to have waited. They greeted him with “USA” chants as he recalled the “movement” he started four years ago.

“It turned out to be more than just a great political campaign. It turned out to be a great political movement because of you,” the president said, echoing the same nationalist message that became a staple of his first presidential run. “It’s a movement made up of people … who believe that a nation must care for its own citizens first.”

Fans camped out since dusk on Monday to secure a spot inside the 20,000-seat Amway Center. They began chanting familiar slogans as anticipation built for the evening’s main act and familiar characters took the stage. Trump’s eldest son, Don Jr., riled up the crowd with a series of attacks against Joe Biden, a telling sign that his father views the former vice president as his likeliest opponent. Vice President Mike Pence promised the crowd that four more years “means more jobs, more judges … and at least four more years to drain the swamp.” (Read more from “Trump Stages His Greatest Show Yet” HERE)

Radio Host Explains the REAL Story Behind Those ‘Absolutely Unreliable’ Polls Showing Trump’s Re-Election in Trouble

If you’ve seen any of the recent poll numbers that show President Donald Trump’s re-election bid supposedly in a heap trouble, take it with a grain of salt and some historical context, LevinTV host Mark Levin explained on the radio Monday night.

Levin ran down some historical polling numbers from past elections taken this far out in the cycle that were also way off in predicting who would win. The numbers were tweeted by NPR national political correspondent Mara Liasson:

“And yet these poll numbers — June 2019, way out from the election — are being treated as news; they’re not news.”

“They’re absolutely unreliable,” Levin added.

The media strategy in playing up polling this far out from the election seems pretty obvious.

“And so this is intended to drive down the president’s popularity for impeachment,” Levin concluded. “This is also intended to dispirit you. It shouldn’t dispirit you; it should turn you into aggressive activists.”

Levin went on to say that this doesn’t mean that the president is guaranteed to win in 2020 and that his victory is going to depend on his campaign and the input of activists.

Meanwhile, Democratic candidates in the 2020 field are working hard on policies that will alienate American voters, Levin said.

By Breitbart. CNN cut away from President Trump’s massive reelection rally in Orlando Tuesday evening after the crowd broke out in a “CNN Sucks!” chant. . .

“Ask them right there,” he said of the media.

At that moment, the crowd broke out in a “CNN Sucks!” chant.

After the chant broke out, CNN briefly cut away from the rally.

Biden, Sanders Blast Trump After He Launches 2020 Campaign at Florida Rally

By The New York Post. Sen. Bernie Sanders livestreamed a surly response to President Trump’s first official campaign rally of the president cycle, while other Democratic 2020 hopefuls tweeted about it.

“It’s going to take me a little while to settle down because I just had the extremely unpleasant experience of watching Donald Trump in action for an hour and a half. Wow, and that was certainly something,” Sanders uttered to the camera in his low-budget rebuttal. “An hour-and-a-half speech of lies, distortions and total absolute nonsense.”

Sanders said he didn’t blame his supporters for being “discombobulated” after watching Trump – who used the Orlando, Florida, rally to revive some of his greatest hits, even asking the crowd what happened to his 2016 rival Hillary Clinton’s 33,000 emails. . .

“Let’s be clear: President Trump inherited a growing economy from the Obama-Biden administration,” a tweet from “Team Joe” read. “And now, he’s in the process of squandering it.” (Read more from “Biden, Sanders Blast Trump After He Launches 2020 Campaign at Florida Rally” HERE)

President Trump Says Hope Hicks Is ‘Absolutely Immune’ from Testifying, Instructs Her to Not Answer Questions

The White House informed the Democrat-controlled House Judiciary Committee that President Donald Trump had instructed his former aide Hope Hicks not to answer questions in a hearing scheduled for Wednesday.

“Ms. Hicks is absolutely immune from being compelled to testify before Congress with respect to matters occurring during her service as a senior adviser to the President,” White House counsel Pat Cipollone said in a statement Tuesday. . .

“Because of this constitutional immunity, and in order to protect the prerogatives of the Office of the President, the President has directed Ms. Hicks not to answer questions before the Committee relating to the time of her service as a senior adviser to the President,” Cipollone added. . .

“Much of Ms. Hicks’s work during this period involved discussions with the President-elect and his staff relating to the decisions the President-elect would be making once he assumed office,” Cipollone said.

“Accordingly, her responses to specific questions about this period would likely implicate executive branch confidentiality interests concerning that decisionmaking process,” he added. “In order to preserve the President’s ability to assert executive privilege over such information, a member of my office will attend Ms. Hicks’s testimony on June 19.” (Read more from “President Trump Says Hope Hicks Is ‘Absolutely Immune’ from Testifying, Instructs Her to Not Answer Questions” HERE)

Trump Launches 2020 Re-Election Campaign

President Donald Trump will launch his 2020 re-election campaign on Tuesday evening in Orlando, Florida. Crowds have been waiting for 40 hours to get into the 25,000 capacity Amway Center, and movie screens will be outside for the overflow crowd. . .

Trump says Republicans believe that “every life is a sacred gift from God” after blasting Democrats for “ripping babies straight from the mother’s womb.” He says some Democrats, especially in Virginia, back “execution after birth.” . . .

. . .Trump says tariffs are working and America has added 16,000 manufacturing jobs a month since he took office while the country was losing thousands of manufacturing job a month before that. Referring to Obama’s “magic wand” comments, Trump says he’ll tell “Sleepy Joe” Biden that he found the “magic wand” to bring back manufacturing jobs. He now brags about getting “right to try” legislation passed.

. . .Trump now introduces Sarah Huckabee Sanders and predicts she will run for governor. She says she has been in the front row of history to see him make “drastic changes” to make America great. She says “he’s fighting for all of the people in this room” and “will have an incredible six more years to make our country stronger than it has ever been.”

Movement Re-Engages for Donald Trump Re-Election; Media Admits No One Showed up to Anti-Trump Rallies

By Breitbart. Americans nationwide are preparing for President Donald Trump’s re-election campaign official launch on Tuesday evening in Orlando, Florida, by planning watch parties–hundreds of them–from coast to coast for those who cannot trek down to the Sunshine State rally but want to watch as part of a community.

From Maine to Alabama, from Washington, D.C., to New Hampshire, from North Carolina to Florida, from Nevada to Minnesota, and in so many other places nationwide, Trump supporters are holding watch parties for the president’s rally on Tuesday evening officially launching his re-election campaign in 2020.

Trump is expected to take stage right at primetime, at 8:00 p.m. ET, and many of these parties are beginning around 7:30 or some even earlier. Some are hosted by Republican officials, or Trump campaign officials, others by conservative groups–and some just by ardent Trump supporters doing so on their own. . .

The RNC’s Mike Reed, in a follow-up memo, wrote that “the numbers and enthusiasm we are witnessing is absolutely astounding – So far, over 250 training events are planned which will train a total of over 4,400 people. And over 700 MAGA meet-ups are planned, hosting nearly 12,000 attendees, to watch President Trump’s rally tomorrow night.”

Reed compares this to the Democrat side of the aisle, which has plans to train just 1,000 college students in a year’s time, according to a report in The Hill newspaper, which he scoffs at, noting that Republicans have done more in a week than Democrats are aiming to do in a year. 797 Trump Reelection ‘Watch Parties’ Set, Six Times the Number of #ImpeachTrump Events

By Washington Examiner. Hundreds of “watch parties” and Trump-Pence reelection training events are set to take place Tuesday as President Trump announces his bid for a second term at a massive rally in Orlando, Fla., according to campaign officials.

A total of 797 events are already planned to focus on the president’s announcement, and they will occur in every state, plus Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands.

That number dwarfs the 133 “#ImpeachTrump Day of Action” events Saturday that were sparsely attended, including one in front of the White House, prompting a mocking tweet from the president.

Feds ‘Actively Working’ on Crackdown on Welfare-Dependent Immigration

Federal immigration officials at the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) agency are “actively working” to enforce President Donald Trump’s recent crackdown on welfare-dependent legal immigration to the U.S.

In a memo last week, Acting USCIS Director Ken Cuccinelli said that staff would “develop and implement guidance” on Trump’s presidential memorandum signed last month that mandates American taxpayers be reimbursed when a legal immigrant uses public welfare. . .

Cuccinelli’s memo to staff reads:

As part of USCIS’ implementation of this memorandum, USCIS officers will now be required to remind individuals at their adjustment of status interviews of their sponsors’ responsibilities under existing law and regulations. Our officers must remind applicants and sponsors that the Affidavit of Support is a legal and enforceable contract between the sponsor and the federal government. The sponsor must be willing and able to financially support the intending immigrant as outlined by law and regulations (see INA 213A and 8 CFR 213a). If the sponsored immigrant receives any federal means-tested public benefits, the sponsor will be expected to reimburse the benefits-granting agency for every dollar of benefits received by the immigrant. [Emphasis added]

Over the next several months, federal agencies will develop and implement guidance on the presidential memorandum to make sure that agencies enforce these requirements. USCIS will do our part, and we are actively working to implement the President’s directive with our federal partners, including by updating policies and regulations. We continue to advance the President’s directive to enforce the public charge ground of inadmissibility, which seeks to ensure that immigrants are self-sufficient and rely on their own capabilities and the resources of their families, their sponsors, and private organizations rather than public resources. [Emphasis added]

Israel Honors Trump with Settlement in the Golan Heights

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu unveiled Sunday a new Jewish settlement in the internationally contested Golan Heights named after President Donald Trump.

The settlement is called “Trump Heights” — or “Ramat Heights” in Hebrew — and essentially renames an existing settlement in Kela Alon that was built decades ago, the Wall Street Journal reported. Fewer than a dozen Israeli citizens live in the settlement, which sits just 12 miles from the Syrian border.

Netanyahu revealed the settlement during a meeting of his cabinet.

“We are going to do two things — establish a new community on the Golan Heights, something that has not been done for many years. This is an act of Zionism and it is paramount,” he said, according to the New York Post. “The second thing is to honor our friend, a very great friend of the State of Israel — President Donald Trump, who recently recognized Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights.” . . .

The move was internationally condemned, and did not generate any worldwide support. The international community maintains that Israel has illegal control over the Golan despite winning control over the the majority of the land during the Six-Day War in 1967. Israel officially annexed Golan in 1981.
