Trump Trails Clinton by Only 4 in Blue State New Jersey

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton only has a small lead over Republican candidate Donald Trump in New Jersey, according to a new poll, suggesting Trump may be putting another safe Democratic state in play for November.

The poll, conducted by Monmouth University, has Trump trailing Clinton 38-34 in New Jersey. Eleven percent say they plan to vote third party and 15 percent are undecided. Like other polls of the 2016 race, Monmouth’s poll shows a gargantuan gender gap, with Trump leading by nine points among men and Clinton leading by 16 among women. Trump leads 44-29 among white voters, while Clinton unsurprisingly leads 54-14 percent among all non-white voters. Notably, Trump has the support of just 1 percent of black voters, though 21 percent say they are undecided.

New Jersey has been a safe Democratic state in every election since 1992, so if it becomes competitive it’s a very bad sign for Clinton. For comparison, President Barack Obama crushed former Gov. Mitt Romney in the state by a margin of nearly 18 percentage points.

Trump’s enhanced appeal may be based partly on his life-long presence in the New York area, as well as the strong endorsement he received from Gov. Chris Christie.

The poll was conducted May 23-27 with a sample of 703 registered voters. The margin of error was plus or minus 3.7 percentage points.

Meanwhile, another poll released Tuesday, conducted by the Boston Herald and Franklin Pierce University, had Trump and Clinton tied 44-44 in the swing state of New Hampshire. Obama won the state by about 5.5 percent in 2012.

New Jersey isn’t the first blue state Trump has appeared to put in play. A Quinnipiac poll from early May showed Trump trailing by just a single point in Pennsylvania, which also hasn’t voted for a Republican since George H.W. Bush in 1988. Watch: Veteran Rips Into Liberal Media at Trump Presser

At a press conference Tuesday, Donald Trump announced he raised $5.6 Million for veterans and blasted the “liberal media” for dishonest reporting about the timing and veracity of his donations. Speaking on Mr. Trump’s behalf, New Hampshire state representative Al Baldasaro blasted the liberal media’s reporting on Donald Trump.

“I would never ever in a million years put my name on a candidate that did not from his heart, look me in the eye, and tell me he’s concerned about veterans. I met him over a year ago. That’s Donald Trump… There are many scam artists out there. He did the right thing by vetting these groups there. If you look at some of the groups that give 20 cents, 40 cents on the dollar and they’re spending the rest for, you know, their nice lavish trips. He gave 100%. The liberal media is the only ones that have been calling me on the foundation, all right? I’m the former chairman. I have been dealing with this stuff for years. Stop using veterans as political pawns…. I think the liberal media, need to get your head out of your butt and focus on the real issues.”

Baldasaro serves as the chair of Veterans for Trump. He is an advisor to the Trump campaign on veterans affairs. (For more from the author of “Watch: Veteran Rips Into Liberal Media at Trump Presser” please click HERE)

Should Cruz Endorse Trump? The Senator’s Supporters Say ‘OH HELL NO!’

With Marco Rubio’s journey towards the dark side complete, all eyes are on Ted Cruz to see if he will bow to the Trump chocolate bunny as well. I’ve already written my own analysis of why I believe this would be a tremendous mistake, not just morally but (especially) politically, so this time I decided to pose the question to Cruz supporters on Twitter. And let’s just say opinions here aren’t exactly varied.

A hefty 83 percent of them said “no” when asked if they thought Cruz should endorse Trump. But it’s not the dominant sentiment that should get the Texas senator’s attention as much as the emphasis. Cruz supporters don’t just seem to be overwhelmingly against him supporting Trump, but like really overwhelmingly against it. Like I’m against canned spinach. Like Chris Christie is against self-dignity. Like Ben Carson is against not being a willful pawn. Like Barack Obama is against the rule of law. Like Hillary Clinton is against transparency.

But don’t just take my word for it. I’ll let those tweets speak for themselves for the rest of this column:

And there’s more where that came from, but by now I think we get the picture. (For more from the author of “Should Cruz Endorse Trump? The Senator’s Supporters Say ‘OH HELL NO!'” please click HERE)

Mitt Romney Explains His Reasons for Opposing Donald Trump for President

Former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has been relentless in his attacks on the integrity of Donald Trump.

A article in Politico quotes Romney saying, “I know that some people are offended that someone who lost and is the former nominee continues to speak, but that’s how I can sleep at night.”

The former Republican nominee went on to relay a conversation he had with his son, where he was asked, “When the grandkids ask ‘What did you do to stop Donald Trump?’ what are you going to say?’”

Despite his opposition to Trump, Romney has confirmed he will not run for president as a third-party candidate. “I made it clear I’m not running,” he said.

He also stated he will not vote for Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton in the November general election.

According to an NBC news article from March, Romney, speaking on Meet The Press, called Trump “anything but presidential.” He vowed he would vote; however, his vote would be cast for a candidate who he believes is a real conservative and someone people can be proud of, adding, “and I may write in a name if I can’t find such a person.”

In a speech Romney delivered to a crowd at the University of Utah, he said, “Let me put it plainly, if we Republicans choose Donald Trump as our nominee, the prospects for a safe and prosperous future are greatly diminished.

“First, the economy: If Donald Trump’s plans were ever implemented, the country would sink into a prolonged recession,” he said. Romney pointed Trumps plan to impose a 35 percent tariff-like penalty which he says would only serve to instigate trade wars, increase consumer prices and kill export jobs.

Romney reminded the listeners of some of Trump’s failed business ideas, such as Trump Airlines, Trump University and Trump Magazine, to name a few. “A business genius, he is not,” he said. Sanders on Trump: Americans ‘Should Be Very Concerned’ About Someone Who Changes His Mind on ‘Virtually Every Issue’

Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders thinks the American people should be wary of a candidate like Donald Trump, whom he says changes his mind on “virtually every issue.”

In an interview that aired Sunday on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” Sanders discussed the proposed debate between himself and the presumptive GOP nominee.

Despite the fact that he was the first person to entertain the idea, Trump issued a statement Friday saying that he would not debate Sen. Sanders, noting that “it seems inappropriate that I would debate the second place finisher.”

Sanders told “Face the Nation” host John Dickerson that it is this sort of behavior that makes Trump an untrustworthy candidate.

“Donald Trump said he wanted to go forward, then he changed his mind, said no, then he changed his mind and said yes, then he changed his mind and said no,” Sanders told Dickerson. “Maybe we’ll get a call in five minutes and he’ll say yes again. I think that is who Donald Trump is, and I think the American people should be very concerned about somebody who keeps changing his mind not only on this debate, but on virtually every issue he’s been asked about.” (Read more from “Sanders on Trump: Americans ‘Should Be Very Concerned’ About Someone Who Changes His Mind on ‘Virtually Every Issue'” HERE)

San Diego Protester Makes Scary Prediction About Trump

Protesters of presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump have been showing up to his rallies yelling obscene things and holding up obscene signs for months.

But a San Diego protester may have brought that phenomenon to a whole new level.

On Friday, hundreds of protesters assembled outside a Donald Trump rally in San Diego, chanting “f–k Donald Trump,” which sadly, is not out of the ordinary.

What was out of the ordinary was a sign one of the protesters held up predicting the New York billionaire’s assassination if he were to win the presidential election in November.

“If Trump Wins He’ll Be Dead Within A Week The Cartel Won’t Have His Bulls–t,” the sign read.

Trump spoke at the San Diego Convention Center amid a sea of protesters in front of the venue, many of whom were holding Mexican flags.

It wasn’t long before violence began, with bottles being thrown at police, resulting in the arrests of several protesters. Some of the protesters even brought piñatas with Trump’s face on them, with one of the pinatas being decapitated in the street.

One protester dressed as Trump, wearing a wig and lipstick and dancing to the rap song F–k Donald Trump while throwing up middle fingers, grabbing his crotch, and flashing money in the air.

Others were more conventional, calling him a racist and comparing him to Hitler.

Even with all the chaos going on outside the building, everything went fairly smoothly inside, with only a handful of protesters needing to be thrown out of the event for getting out of control. Watch What Trump Did After Being Told There Was No Time for the National Anthem

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump held a rally Wednesday at the Anaheim Convention Center in California amid a heavy police presence.

Security was heightened because of the violent protests at his New Mexico rally on Tuesday night. There, anti-Trump crowds lit items on fire and hurled them at police, reportedly injuring several law enforcement officers.

In preparation, Anaheim police passed out fliers that outlined how to peacefully protest. According to reports, some protesters shouted expletives and others held provocative signs, but only one demonstrator was thrown out of the rally for disruption.

During his opening speech, Trump addressed the roaring crowd and then said, “I got here and they all said we have a great crowd but we don’t have time for the national anthem. I said, ‘Yes we do, we have time for the national anthem.’”

He then introduced Cherri Wilkens, who took the stage while the crowd chanted, “USA! USA!” Wilkens went on to sing “The Star-Spangled Banner,” and the audience cheered loudly once she was finished.

The presumptive nominee then discussed issues such as gun rights and building a border wall between Mexico and America. After the rally, Trump was expected to attend a fundraiser and tape an episode for Jimmy Kimmel Live. Trump: I Don’t Know Enough to Discuss, but Suicide of Former Clinton White House Aide ‘Very Fishy’

Donald Trump once again injected a conspiracy theory into the 2016 campaign cycle, saying in an interview published Monday that he found the death of former Clinton White House aide to be “very fishy.”

The presumptive Republican nominee told The Washington Post last week that the suicide of Vincent Foster was a “very serious” issue and appeared dubious.

“He had intimate knowledge of what was going on,” Trump told the newspaper. “He knew everything that was going on and then all of a sudden he committed suicide.”

“I don’t bring [Foster] up because I don’t know enough to really discuss it. I will say there are people who continue to bring it up because they think it was absolutely a murder,” he added. “I don’t do that because I don’t think it’s fair.” (Read more from “Trump: I Don’t Know Enough to Discuss, but Suicide of Former Clinton White House Aide ‘Very Fishy'” HERE)

Trump Cancels Plan to Debate ‘Second-Place Finisher’ Bernie Sanders

After suggesting a debate between himself and Bernie Sanders earlier this week, GOP nominee Donald Trump has since backed away from the proposal, claiming it would be “inappropriate” to hold a debate with Sanders, the “second-place finisher.”

“As much as I want to debate Bernie Sanders — and it would be an easy payday — I will wait to debate the first-place finisher in the Democratic Party, probably Crooked Hillary Clinton, or whoever it may be,” said Trump in a statement.

On Wednesday, Trump suggested a willingness to debate Sanders during a guest appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, provided the proceeds went to charity.

“Yes, I am [willing to debate Sanders],” Trump said. “How much is he going to pay me? If he paid a nice sum toward a charity, I’d love to do that.”

Trump doubled down on his suggestion the following day, claiming that such a debate could generate millions towards charitable contributions.

“If we can raise for maybe women’s health issues or something — if we can raise $10 million or $15 million for charity, which would be a very appropriate amount. I understand the television business very well,” Trump said Thursday during a press conference.

In response, the Sanders campaign released a statement claiming they had received offers from at least two television networks expressing a desire to host the event.

“We look forward to a substantive debate that will contrast the very different visions that Sen. Sanders and Mr. Trump have for the future of our country,” read the statement.

Soon after, the Trump campaign released its own statement saying he was unwilling to participate, claiming the networks would “make a killing” with no guarantee they would donate to a charitable cause.

Sanders followed up by mocking Trump and telling reporters, “Well, I hope that he changes his mind again. Mr. Trump has been known to change his mind many times in a day.”

“Well Mr. Trump, what are you afraid of?” Sanders asked.

Charitable benefits aside, a Sanders/Trump debate provides little political advantage for Trump. He has guaranteed his place as the Republican nominee and has little need to debate anyone beyond his Democratic presidential opponent.

Sanders, on the other hand, is locked in a desperate fight with Hillary Clinton, and needs all the attention he can get. A nationally televised event would have helped him achieve that goal. Rubio Makes Surprise Announcement About Republican Convention, Trump

Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida — a former GOP presidential candidate and rival of Donald Trump — has confirmed he will be attending the Republican National Convention and said he will even speak on Trump’s behalf if asked to do so.

In an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper, Rubio said, “I want to be helpful. I don’t want to be harmful, because I don’t want Hillary Clinton to be president.” The Republican National Convention will be held in Cleveland in July.

Pointing out the fact that his policy ideas and Trump’s differ, Rubio added, “That said … I don’t want Hillary Clinton to be president. If there’s something I can do to help that from happening, and it’s helpful to the cause, I’d most certainly be honored to be considered for that.”

This is in direct contrast to a tweet from earlier this year in which Rubio, using the hashtag #NeverTrump, indicated he was joining with other Republicans who would not vote for Trump regardless of the circumstances.

Rubio also told Tapper that he would release his 167 delegates.

When asked if he would be interested in becoming Trump’s running mate, Rubio said he “wouldn’t be the right choice for Trump,” adding, “He won the nomination and he deserves to have a running mate that more fully embraces some of the things he stands for.”

Admitting to still having political aspirations, Rubio said it was a “safe assumption” that he would again run for political office, saying, “I can tell you I enjoy public service. If there’s an opportunity to serve again in a way that I feel passionate about, I’ll most certainly think I would explore it.” (For more from the author of “Rubio Makes Surprise Announcement About Republican Convention, Trump” please click HERE)
