Media Outraged Facebook Won’t Allow Black Market for Abortion Drugs

After ignoring (or even celebrating) six years of political censorship and election interference, leftists have found a Facebook content moderation policy they disagree with — a longstanding ban on using the platform to distribute illicit prescription drugs. . .

What has changed is the U.S. Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade, the 1973 ruling that made abortion legal throughout the country.

In the wake of the Court’s ruling, users began flooding Facebook with posts advertising abortion pills, offering to mail them to other users, or explaining how to obtain them.

Abortion pills are prescription-only, and in line with its policy, Facebook began taking down the posts — leading to immediate outrage from the media.

“It’s staggering that, at the very time women most need information about and access to these medications, Facebook and Instagram are making it hard for them to find it,” wrote a columnist for NBC News. (Read more from “Media Outraged Facebook Won’t Allow Black Market for Abortion Drugs” HERE)

Facebook Allegedly Barred Mother From Posting Meme About Motherhood

The co-founder of a Virginia-based concerned parent organization is allegedly barred from posting on Facebook for three days after reposting a meme about raising young boys, according to a review conducted by the Daily Caller.

Erin Roselle Poe is the co-founder and Vice President of “Army of Parents,” a concerned parent organization designed to fight woke indoctrination in Loudoun County Public Schools. Roselle Poe told the Daily Caller that she posted a meme about raising young boys last year.

The meme reads, “Raising boys is not for the faint hearted.” Six pictures are featured, including young boys climbing fences, sitting in mud, and jumping into a lake.

Roselle Poe told the Daily Caller that the meme popped up as a memory on her Facebook timeline and she reshared it. Facebook allegedly barred the mother from using her Facebook account for at least three days beginning on May 18, according to a warning message from the social media giant.

“This temporary block will last 3 days, and you won’t be able to post on Facebook until it’s finished. If you post something that goes against our standards again, your account will be blocked for 7 days. For violations after that, your account will be blocked even longer,” the Facebook response reads. (Read more from “Facebook Allegedly Barred Mother From Posting Meme About Motherhood” HERE)

Facebook and Twitter Are ‘Rejecting Republicans’: NYC GOP Lawmakers

Facebook and Twitter are waging war on the New York City Council’s GOP members, disabling or refusing to verify some of their accounts — including that of a Ukrainian native-turned-national figure, the pols claim.

Brooklyn Republican Councilwoman Inna Vernikov, who was born in Ukraine, says Twitter denied her request for verified status with no specific explanation.

“Welcome to the USSR — United States of Soviet Republic,” Vernikov told The Post.

“The problem is I am a conservative. They’re stifling conservative voices. There is no other reason,” she said.

The conservative politician is well-known for winning a seat on Democratic turf last fall and has been interviewed by numerous national and state media outlets discussing the Russian invasion of Ukraine. She has more than 11,000 Twitter followers and recently met with former President Trump. (Read more from “Facebook and Twitter Are ‘Rejecting Republicans’: NYC GOP Lawmakers” HERE)

Apple and Meta Gave User Data to Hackers Who Used Forged Legal Requests

Apple Inc. and Meta Platforms Inc., the parent company of Facebook, provided customer data to hackers who masqueraded as law enforcement officials, according to three people with knowledge of the matter.

Apple and Meta provided basic subscriber details, such as a customer’s address, phone number and IP address, in mid-2021 in response to the forged “emergency data requests.” Normally, such requests are only provided with a search warrant or subpoena signed by a judge, according to the people. However, the emergency requests don’t require a court order.

Snap Inc. received a forged legal request from the same hackers, but it isn’t known whether the company provided data in response. It’s also not clear how many times the companies provided data prompted by forged legal requests.

Cybersecurity researchers suspect that some of the hackers sending the forged requests are minors located in the U.K. and the U.S. One of the minors is also believed to be the mastermind behind the cybercrime group Lapsus$, which hacked Microsoft Corp., Samsung Electronics Co. and Nvidia Corp., among others, the people said. City of London Police recently arrested seven people in connection with an investigation into the Lapsus$ hacking group; the probe is ongoing. Facebook And Instagram Will Allow Calls For Violence — As Long As They’re Against Russians

Facebook and Instagram have relaxed their community standards in one very specific arena — in some countries, the platforms will allow posts that call for violence against Russia, Russian soldiers, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

Reuters reported Thursday that the Meta platforms would relax their hate speech restrictions in some instances while Russia continued to invade Ukraine.

“Meta Platforms (FB.O) will allow Facebook and Instagram users in some countries to call for violence against Russians and Russian soldiers in the context of the Ukraine invasion, according to internal emails seen by Reuters on Thursday, in a temporary change to its hate speech policy,” Reuters reported. . .

According to the report, the temporary changes applied to the nearby former Soviet bloc nations of Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Russia and Ukraine. (Read more from “Facebook and Instagram Will Allow Calls for Violence — As Long as They’re Against Russians” HERE)

Facebook Settles Decade-Old, $90 Million Lawsuit Alleging It Tracked Users’ Data Without Consent

The parent company of Facebook settled a decade-old privacy lawsuit related to protecting privacy on the Big Tech platform.

The Associated Press reported Tuesday that Meta Inc. filed a preliminary settlement with plaintiffs in a class action lawsuit dating back to 2010 and 2011, which said that Facebook abused its “cookies” policy and tracked users even after they logged off the platform. Facebook agreed to sequester and delete data that was “wrongfully collected” during that time and to pay $90 million to affected users who filed a claim in the lawsuit, after legal fees are deducted.

The lawsuit alleged that Facebook got consent from their users to track their information while they were using the social media network and promised to stop tracking that data once a user logged off the platform. But Facebook allegedly continued to track their users’ browsing data, even after the users logged off. CNN added that the lawsuit stemmed from a 2010 update to Facebook’s software called “Open Graph.” The update included a “like” button plug-in for sites around the internet allowing Facebook users to “like” web pages outside of Facebook and share those pages with people in their friend networks. But court documents alleged, via CNN, that that plug-in allowed Facebook to collect data on users’ activity on those websites, including what sites they visited, any items they purchased, and interactions they had with the site, regardless of whether or not they used the “like button.” (Read more from “Facebook Settles Decade-Old, $90 Million Lawsuit Alleging It Tracked Users’ Data Without Consent” HERE)

Facebook Suffers Biggest One-Day Value Drop of Any US Company in History

Facebook parent company Meta shed more than $220 billion in market capitalization on Thursday, the largest such single-day decline for a U.S. company in history.

Meta’s stock closed down more than 26% on Thursday, an 85-point decline. The drop was largely driven by a quarterly earnings report that found the company was hemorrhaging daily users for the first time in its history. CEO Mark Zuckerberg personally lost about $24 billion.

Meta’s crash drove declines across the stock market, with the tech-heavy Nasdaq composite dropping by 3.74%.

The much-anticipated report said that daily Facebook users declined by about a half-million in the last three months of 2021, which many investors saw as a sign that the global reach of the social media company might be peaking or has already peaked. Facebook Facing $3.2 Billion Class Action Lawsuit

Facebook (now called Meta) is facing a $3.2 billion lawsuit over the alleged exploitation of its UK users. One expert involved in the lawsuit said: “They are exploiting users by taking their personal data without properly compensating them for taking that data. I don’t think the users are entirely clear when they click on the terms and conditions how unfair that deal is.”

Engadget reports that Facebook (now Meta) is facing a major court case as a legal expert has begun work with a litigation firm to sue the company on behalf of 44 million Facebook users in the United Kingdom. The class-action lawsuit alleges that UK users had their data exploited in violation of competition laws.

The lawsuit is seeking £2.3 billion ($3.2 billion) in damages for UK Facebook users. The suit was filed by Dr. Liza Lovdahl Gormsen who specialized in competition law. The law firm Innsworth which takes on cases in exchange for a share of damages won is funding the case.

The lawsuit alleges that although users do not pay to use Facebook, the information that they provide the social media platform with is valuable. Lovdahl Gormsen said in a statement: “They are exploiting users by taking their personal data without properly compensating them for taking that data. I don’t think the users are entirely clear when they click on the terms and conditions how unfair that deal is.” (Read more from “Facebook Facing $3.2 Billion Class Action Lawsuit” HERE)

Investigation: Woman Says She Was Virtually ‘Groped’ in Facebook’s VR Metaverse

A woman claims she was virtually “groped” in a virtual reality world, and an investigation has been launched. A female believes she was the victim of sexual harassment while testing out a virtual world from Meta – the company formerly known as Facebook.

The alleged victim was a beta tester on the VR platform “Horizon Worlds” – a “social experience where you can explore, play and create.” The virtual world allows users to “design worlds of your own or get to know other members of the community and be inspired by their creations.” The virtual reality metaverse offers “interactive puzzles” and “action-packed games.”

The woman claims she was virtually “groped” during the testing period on Nov. 26. . .

Following the woman’s allegation that she was virtually “groped,” Meta launched an investigation into the incident. The company – formerly known as Facebook – determined that the tester did not activate a safety feature designed to prevent harassment on the platform.

Vivek Sharma – Meta’s Vice President of Horizon – called the incident “absolutely unfortunate,” and admitted that the tech company needs to work on making the safety blocking feature “trivially easy and findable.” (Read more from “Investigation: Woman Says She Was Virtually ‘Groped’ in Facebook’s VR Metaverse” HERE)
