Pro-Trump TV Pundit Alleges Rape in New Filing Against Fox News

Scottie Nell Hughes, a pro-Trump TV pundit, has filed a jaw dropping lawsuit against Fox News.

The lawsuit pointedly names 21st Century Fox, Fox News, Executive VP Diane Brandi, Spokeswoman Irena Briganti, and Fox Business anchor Charles Payne. The suit was filed on Monday and includes a variety of allegations that range from rape and sexual harassment to “retaliation inflicted by Fox News executives in order to protect male, on-air talent.”

Hughes’s Manhattan-based attorney, Douglas Wigdor, claims that after she “confidentially” told Fox News about the sexual harassment and rape, network execs “ruthlessly” leaked her name to the National Enquirer along with a “self-serving statement” by Payne apologizing for having an “affair” that transpired between 2013 and 2015.

Hughes’s lawsuit states that Payne raped her. (Read more from “Pro-Trump TV Pundit Alleges Rape in New Filing Against Fox News” HERE)

Left Gets Vicious, Celebrates Death of Former Fox Star’s Son

In the wake of the death of Eric Chase Bolling Jr., the son of former Fox News star Eric Bolling, leftists are celebrating the tragedy on Twitter, saying it’s “karma” and “justice” for the TV host who lost his job after allegations of sexual harassment.

Bolling Jr., 19, died mysteriously in his bed Saturday in Boulder, Colorado, where he was a student at the University of Colorado. The circumstances surrounding the teen’s death remain unclear. TMZ claimed “well-placed FNC sources” said the teen “died from a drug overdose.”

“We’re told he was having a hard time dealing with the trouble his dad was having at the network,” TMZ claimed in its report. “Our sources say he was extremely embarrassed by the stories and was ’emotionally upset.’”

While other early reports suggested suicide, Bolling Sr. tweeted Saturday: “Authorities have informed us there is no sign of self harm at this point. Autopsy will be next week. Please respect our grieving period.”

The coroner’s office has completed the autopsy, New York Daily News reported Monday, but the cause of death won’t be released for six to eight weeks. (Read more from “Left Gets Vicious, Celebrates Death of Former Fox Star’s Son” HERE)

Fox News Confirms Departure of Popular Host Amid Sexual Harassment Allegations

Fox News Channel confirmed in a statement Friday that the network is “amicably” parting ways with one of its most recognizable hosts.

Eric Bolling, who was suspended last month after facing allegations of sexual harassment, will no longer be associated with Fox News, where he hosted The Specialists after gaining exposure as a co-host on The Five.

Fox News also confirmed it is cancelling The Specialists, though that show’s co-hosts, Eboni Williams and Kat Timpf, are expected to remain with the network as contributors.

A permanent replacement for the program has not been announced. According to Variety, the time slot will be filled on an interim basis with news programming featuring a rotation of Fox News anchors.

According to the statement, Fox News and Bolling “agreed to part ways amicably,” making the host the latest in a string of on-air personalities to leave the network.

“We thank Eric for his 10 years of service to our loyal viewers and wish him the best of luck,” the statement read.

The news sparked discussion on social media, with several users expressing continued support for Bolling.

Several others insisted he deserved to be fired, with at least one using a compilation video in an attempt to portray him as a “sexist idiot.”

As Western Journalism reported, Bolling was suspended in early August amid allegations that he had sent a series of inappropriate text messages to two female colleagues.

Huffington Post, which was the first to publish the allegations, cited 14 unnamed sources. Bolling’s attorney, Michael J. Bowe, denied the “anonymous, uncorroborated claims” and looked forward to seeing Bolling “return to work as quickly as possible.”

With Friday’s announcement, Bolling, who also hosted Cashin’ In on Fox News, followed the departure of other prominent network figures in recent months.

Bill O’Reilly left the network in April after at least five women accused him of sexual harassment.

Earlier this week, Fox & Friends co-host Clayton Morris announced the end of his broadcast career after 18 years in television and nearly 10 years at Fox News. (For more from the author of “Fox News Confirms Departure of Popular Host Amid Sexual Harassment Allegations” please click HERE)

Prison for the Wrong Pronoun?

Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson took on a Democratic strategist who supports a California bill that would sentence elder care workers to jail time for addressing transgender residents by the wrong pronoun.

Carlson debated Robin Biro, who supports the bill that was authored by Democratic state Senator Scott Wiener of San Francisco. He challenged Biro right out of the gate, starting the interview by saying the bill “doesn’t sound very American” because it could send people to jail for saying something others don’t want to hear.

“You can be put in jail for saying what you think is true,” Carlson said. “This bill criminalizes free speech.”

Biro repeatedly skirted around the direct issue of potential imprisonment of employees for the use of a different pronoun than a patient prefers, and instead tried to emphasize other aspects of the bill, such as its prohibition for care providers to deny treatment to someone based on sexual orientation or gender identity.

When he finally addressed the free speech issues with the bill, he called the intentional misuse of pronouns toward transgender people “abuse” and compared it to former first lady Michelle Obama being called a man. (Read more from “Prison for the Wrong Pronoun?” HERE)

Elderly Florida Homeowner Shoots, Kills Intruder

An elderly man in Florida shot and killed an unknown man who had broken into his home Saturday, authorities said.

The intruder, 33-year-old Shane DeShane, was shot when he entered the older man’s home and woke up him and his wife in Lakeland on Saturday night, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

DeShane died at the scene, WFLA reported. DeShane reportedly lived on the same street as the elderly couple. (Read more from “Elderly Florida Homeowner Shoots, Kills Intruder” HERE)

Sex Scandal Rocks Fox News

Fox News host Eric Bolling has been suspended pending an investigation into claims that, at some point in the past, he was sexting female co-workers.

“Eric Bolling has been suspended pending the results of an investigation, which is currently underway,” Fox said in a statement on Saturday.

The law firm Paul Weiss, which has led past complaints against Fox employees, is conducting the investigation, the Fox statement said.

On Friday, The Huffington Post published a story that claimed Bolling sent what it referred to as “an unsolicited photo of male genitalia” to two female co-workers.

Michael J. Bowe, Bolling’s attorney, said his client denied the claim.

“The anonymous, uncorroborated claims are untrue and terribly unfair. We intend to fully cooperate with the investigation so that it can be concluded and Eric can return to work as quickly as possible,” he said Saturday.

Bolling, a co-host on The Specialists, also hosts the Saturday show Cashin’ In. Saturday’s show had been taped Friday, but was pulled after the Huffington Post account emerged.

Bolling will be replaced on Cashin’ In and The Specialists by a series of rotating substitutes.

The alleged incident happened several years ago, the report claimed. The report, which the Huffington Post said was authenticated by 14 sources it did not identify, did not say who had received the messages or when the alleged incident took place.

The Huffington Post report said the women who received the photo said they believed Bolling was the sender because the photo came from Bolling’s phone number

One recipient told Bolling to stop sending such content, the report said. It said no more messages were received, nor was a reply received.

Some on Twitter suggested the claim was part of an effort to target conservative hosts at Fox.

Fox News has faced numerous sexual harassment allegations over the past year. The accusations began last July when former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson sued Fox News, claiming she was sexually harassed. He claim led to the ouster of Fox News CEO Roger Ailes. This spring, Fox News host Bill O’Reilly was ousted after it was revealed he had settled several sexual harassment claims. Fox News Reporter Assaulted at Campaign Event

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from living in 2017 America, it’s that anything you do or say to a woman that she doesn’t like is misogyny. It’s sexism. It’s rape culture. Unless, of course, you really disagree with that woman politically. Then it’s justifiable. She should’ve thought about that before she pissed you off, right?

I don’t know Kat Timpf from The Specialists on Fox News very well, and I don’t always agree with her. But she seems like an honest, thoughtful person. Her sense of humor isn’t for everybody, but I like it. She’s a good TV host and a great writer. So I’m pissed off about what just happened to her. Last night she was scheduled to speak at a campaign event for Ben Kissel, who’s running for Brooklyn borough president. But then this happened:

Drain the Scandal Swamp: Fox News’ Eric Bolling Spills Secrets on D.C.

Fox News host Eric Bolling says corruption in Washington has been around since D.C. became the nation’s capital but it’s getting worse, is a plague on both parties and President Trump is in a unique position to uproot the system.

That’s the focus of Bolling’s latest book, “The Swamp: Washington’s Murky Pool of Corruption and Cronyism and How Trump Can Drain It.”

Bolling, an unabashed Trump supporter, told WND and Radio America politicians have been corrupted by all sorts of vices since America’s founding, but he said the infusion of big-time lobbying money really changes the game into what Americans witness today.

“As more and more money got introduced, the type of scandal changed, and they all became money scandals,” Bolling explained. “Literally hundreds of billions of dollars come to D.C. on an annual basis to find a home in lawmakers’ pockets for votes. Everyone became corrupt. Everyone became up for sale.”

He said many lawmakers come to Washington with the best of intentions, but the system quickly swallows them up. (Read more from “Drain the Scandal Swamp: Fox News’ Eric Bolling Spills Secrets on D.C.” HERE)

Bernie Sanders Attacks Fox News

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’ office crafted and published a video attacking Fox News commentators for mocking Sanders’ claims that the proposed Senate health care bill — which was recently shelved due to a lack of votes — would cause “thousands” of people to die.

Sanders’ Twitter account posted the video, which reached almost three minutes in length, with the caption: “Fox News may not like it, but these are the facts: Thousands of our fellow Americans will die if the Republican health care bill is passed.”

Tweets that aren’t personally signed by Sanders are “from a staffer,” according to the socialist senator’s Twitter profile.

Sanders relied on a PolitiFact fact-check as the basis for attacking Fox News’ health care coverage. The fact-checking site rated his claim “mostly true.” (Read more from “Bernie Sanders Attacks Fox News” HERE)

The Firing of Bill O’Reilly

Fox News fired its most popular host, Bill O’Reilly, this week. The firing came after The New York Times reported details of more than $13 million paid to women who worked on or appeared on O’Reilly’s show. The women had accused O’Reilly of sexual harassment. O’Reilly at first “denied the claims have merit,” but Fox apparently concluded otherwise.

It must have been a difficult conclusion at which to arrive. O’Reilly has been a ratings and economic juggernaut for Fox. He attracts about 4 million viewers, and in 2015 the program generated about $178 million in advertising revenue.

I do not want to put O’Reilly on trial here, but it is fair to say that Fox would not have made this decision unless the evidence was compelling. A statement released by Fox read, in part, “After a thorough and careful review of the allegations, the Company and Bill O’Reilly have agreed that Bill O’Reilly will not be returning to the Fox News Channel.”

O’Reilly’s fans are attempting to paint him as a victim of a politically correct environment. Ed Martin, president of Eagle Forum, the organization founded by Phyllis Schlafly, wrote: “O’Reilly is a folk hero to the regular folks in America who know the truth.”

I have a different perspective. I commend Fox for making a courageous decision that will no doubt cost it millions of dollars in the short term. What is sad is that a man many people saw as an effective spokesman for their values has been rendered impotent because of his character.

This story is not a new one, of course. Moses, David, and Samson are just three of many powerfully gifted men whose character flaws kept them from being and doing all that God intended for them. More recently, Roger Ailes and Michael Flynn have likewise risen because of their competence and fallen because of their character. Young media celebrities such as Tomi Lahren and Milo Yiannopoulos have flamed out in spectacular fashion.

But National Review columnist David French has pointed out that the rises and falls of these conservative celebrities may be as much our fault as theirs. French writes that we have created a “toxic culture of conservative celebrity” in which we value not the character of our leaders, but rather their ability to inflict wounds on our political enemies. “Knifework, not character or integrity, is what we demand from our ideological gladiators,” French writes. “We’re paying the price.”

Lessons from the O’Reilly Episode

So what can we learn from the O’Reilly episode? Here are a few possible lessons:

First, we should demand character, not merely competence, from our political leaders and cultural spokesmen. Those who oppose conservative and Christian ideas will seize any opportunity to discredit the message by attacking the messenger. We should be careful about whom we look to as spokespeople.

Secondly, let’s remember that “conservative” does not always equal “Christian.” We live in an era in which the culture is trending away from Christian ideas and toward secularism. So conserving what came before often — not always, but often — means conserving Christian ideas. But when and where that is not the case, we should be careful to promote Christian ideals and not merely conservative ideology.

Thirdly, we should remember that the ends do not justify the means. The Christian worldview is true, but it is not merely true. It is also good and beautiful. If we resort to the ugly, the evil, and the banal in our public discourse and private lives, we undermine the truth of the story we want the world to hear.

Finally, let’s not depend so much on our media stars to do the heavy lifting of cultural change. Here at the Colson Center we talk often about “de-professionalizing” the work of the Gospel, including the work of cultural change. By that we mean that raising our kids means more than just sending them to the right youth group. And cultural engagement means more than following a media celebrity on Facebook or retweeting a clever meme.

I often speak to young people who are burning with enthusiasm to “make a difference” in the world. My counsel to them is usually “If you want to change the world, first make your bed.” We should remember that the best evidence for the transformative power of the Gospel is the testimony of our own transformed lives. Christians should live differently if we want our ideas to have credibility in the public square.

To conclude: I cannot say with certainty whether Bill O’Reilly is guilty or innocent of the sexual harassment charges, but the evidence we do have, and his spectacular fall from public favor, should lead to a teachable moment for the conservative movement and Christians in particular. We should take a good, long, hard look in the cultural mirror and remember Shakespeare’s words: “The fault . . . is not in our [media] stars, but in ourselves.” (For more from the author of “The Firing of Bill O’Reilly” please click HERE)
