39 Missing or Endangered Kids Rescued in ‘Operation Not Forgotten’ Bust

Nearly 40 missing or endangered children have been rescued by federal and state agents in Georgia, as part of “Operation Not Forgotten,” according to authorities.

Thirteen missing children were found and an additional 26 endangered children were rescued during a two-week operation in Atlanta and Macon, The U.S. Marshals Service announced Thursday.

The missing children were considered to be “some of the most at-risk and challenging recovery cases” and some were likely victims of child sex trafficking, child exploitation, abuse and had medical or mental health conditions, officials said.

As part of the operation, investigators cleared 26 arrest warrants and filed additional charges for alleged crimes related to sex trafficking, parental kidnapping, registered sex offender violations, drugs and weapons possession, and custodial interference. Dad Arrested, Charged After Beating Man, 20, He Found in His 14-Year-Old Daughter’s Room

A Georgia dad is facing an aggravated assault charge after beating a 20-year-old man he found in his 14-year-old daughter’s bedroom.

Police say they likely would not have pursued legal action in the case had it not been for the father allegedly firing his gun as the suspect fled his property. . .

Ismael Casillas, 41, discovered Keywontrezes Humphries in his daughter’s room in the early morning hours of July 4th. Casillas beat Humphries, knocking out some of his teeth and choking him.

Authorities told WAGA-TV that they were sympathetic to Casillas’ reaction and might not have charged him with anything had it not been for the father allegedly asking his wife at that point to get his gun.

After Humphries jumped out a window of the home, Casillas met him in the front yard and continued the beating, allegedly threatening the 20-year-old’s life. Investigators said Casillas then fired shots as Humphries took off. (Read more from “Dad Arrested, Charged After Beating Man, 20, He Found in His 14-Year-Old Daughter’s Room” HERE)

WATCH: Facebook Deletes Ad of Gun-Toting Congressional Candidate Who Warns Antifa to Stay out of Her State

Facebook deleted a campaign ad from a GOP candidate in Georgia because she was brandishing a gun in the political commercial.

Marjorie Greene is running in Georgia’s 14th District, and she already grabbed attention with a campaign ad where she warns Antifa to stay out of Georgia. In the ad, Greene is standing on the porch of a local business, and she is armed with an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle.

“I have a message for Antifa terrorists,” Greene says. “Stay the hell out of Northwest Georgia.”

“You won’t burn our churches, loot our businesses or destroy our homes,” Greene tells Antifa.

Greene posted the campaign ad on Tuesday, but it was deleted by Facebook on Thursday. Facebook told Greene’s campaign that the ad was pulled because it violated the company’s policies against promoting the use of firearms.

Pro-Trump Black Lawmaker Won’t Resign After Outpouring of Support

A black Georgia Democratic state lawmaker who announced his resignation Wednesday because of his support for Republican President Trump in the 2020 election has changed his mind.

He said he would not switch parties but would work for Trump’s re-election.

“I don’t plan to leave the Democratic Party because somebody’s got to be in there to hold them accountable — hold them accountable to how they are treating black people (and) root out the bigotry,” Jones said on “The Rashad Richey Morning Show” on WAOK radio in Atlanta shortly after announcing his resignation, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. Georgia At The Center Of Clash Between Religious And Gay And Transgender Groups Over Adoption

Gay and transgender groups are on a collision course with religious adoption groups in Georgia as legislators advance a bill designed to protect religious freedom for adoption agencies.

The bill, which was read on Tuesday and is expected to work its way through the Senate in the coming weeks, ensures that adoption agencies would not be forced to place children anywhere that “violates certain religious or moral convictions.” It has raised an outcry from gay and transgender advocates.

Democratic state Rep. Matthew Wilson, a gay member of the legislature, criticized the bill upon its introduction in February as “hateful discrimination, pure and simple.”

The bill’s sponsor, Republican state Sen. Marty Harbin, countered by saying that his bill was only intended to protect the freedom of choice for mothers about how their children will be raised. . .

Advocacy groups have clashed over the bill as well. The gay and transgender rights group Georgia Equality criticizes the protections as “unconscionable,” according to a spokesman. On the other hand, religious groups have praised the effort for seeking to ensure “the welfare of children.” (Read more from “Georgia At The Center Of Clash Between Religious And Gay And Transgender Groups Over Adoption” HERE)

Fire Captain Suspended Without Pay for Rushing Into Burning House to Save 95-Year-Old Woman (VIDEO)

A Georgia fire captain has been suspended from his job because he ran inside a burning house to rescue a 95-year-old woman. . .

Atlanta Fire Captain Daniel Thomas Dwyer was suspended without pay this week because he broke “protocol” when he heroically rushed into the burning home of 95-year-old Sally Skrine last June, WXIA-TV reported. . .

WXIA obtained Dwyer’s disciplinary report, which states, “You entered the structure without your crew members which is in immediate conflict with no freelancing, accountability and maintaining crew integrity.”

Paul Gerdis, the head of the fire union, told WAGA-TV that Dwyer made a “split-second” decision to enter the burning home because the intensity of the blaze significantly decreased the survival chances of any occupants. Gerdis said Dwyer’s suspension “sends the wrong message.” (Read more from “Atlanta Fire Captain Suspended Without Pay for Rushing Into Burning House to Save 95-Year-Old Woman” HERE)

Lawmaker Drafting Bill to Make It a Felony for Doctors to Aid a Minor’s Gender Transition

A Georgia state representative is drafting legislation that would make it a felony for a medical provider to aid a minor in the process of changing genders, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The bill is being written by Republican state Rep. Ginny Ehrhart, a first-term lawmaker who won the seat after her husband held it for the previous 30 years. . .

The goal of the bill would be to prevent children from undergoing permanent physical changes at a young age when they may not be equipped to make such an irreversible decision. . .

Specifically, doctors would not be allowed to perform mastectomies, vasectomies, castration, or other forms of genital mutilation on minors for the purpose of gender transition. The bill would criminalize “the removal of otherwise healthy or non-diseased body parts from minor children,” according to a news release. . .

“These children are suffering from a psychological condition without biologic basis,” said Atlanta-based pediatric endocrinologist Dr. Quentin Van Meter in the release. “Using the bludgeon of threatened suicide as justification is first of all cruel, and secondly, not supported by valid published studies.” (Read more from “Lawmaker Drafting Bill to Make It a Felony for Doctors to Aid a Minor’s Gender Transition” HERE)

‘No Trick-Or-Treat’ Signs for Sex Offenders’ Homes Are Halted by Judge

On Tuesday a judge ruled in favor of a group of sex offenders who sued the Butts County Sheriff’s Office for posting ‘No Trick-or-Treat’ signs in their yards.

A federal judge granted an injunction to stop the Georgia deputies from placing warning signs in the yards of registered sex offenders to deter children from trick-or-treating at their homes, according to Fox 5 Atlanta. Three sex offenders argued it was a violation of their rights to free speech and privacy.

Sheriff Gary Long said he took the action to keep children safe on Halloween. “I WILL do everything within the letter of the Law to protect the children of this Community,” Long posted to Facebook.

However, Judge Marc Treadwell found the sheriff’s move went beyond the letter of the law, according to Fox 5. “The sheriff’s decision is not based on any determination that the plaintiffs are dangerous. Nor is the sheriff’s sign-posting founded on Georgia law. Rather, the sheriff’s decision is based solely on the fact that the plaintiffs’ names remain on Georgia’s registry of sex offenders,” the judge wrote in his ruling. He declined to award the plaintiffs any damages. (Read more from “‘No Trick-Or-Treat’ Signs for Sex Offenders’ Homes Are Halted by Judge” HERE)
