GOP War Rages and Centrists Hit Pro-Trump ‘Wackadoodles’

The internal Republican Party war continues to be red-hot between the pro-Trump and anti-Trump camps.

As Donald Trump’s supporters, including Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, Matt Gaetz, and Paul Gosar ride high with the former president’s supporters, former centrist GOP House members slammed them as “fringe” politicians.

Former Rep. Charlie Dent said that, in the past, these were “people who show up at a state party convention and you know they’d be kind of sitting out there, behind one of those stands, and you kind of ignore them. You laugh at them. You walk by.”

Now, said Dent, who retired in 2018, “some of these people [are] on the stage.” He called them “wackadoodles.”

Former Virginia Rep. Barbara Comstock, who lost in the anti-Trump 2018 midterm elections, referred to the Trump loyalists as stupid and idiots. “They so many say so many stupid things every day,” she said, referring to Greene, Boebert, Gaetz, and Gosar. Congressman Asks for Federal Investigation of Wells Fargo

Rep. Paul Gosar, a Republican member of Congress from Arizona, is asking federal regulators at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to investigate Wells Fargo for allegedly closing a woman’s bank account for “political reasons.”

He points out that the response to Lauren Witzke when she questioned the bank when her account was without warning and summarily closed was that it also was for “business reasons” pertaining to her Christian beliefs and Christian advocacy.

“It is my understanding that regulated banks cannot discrimination against customers because of the customer’s religious beliefs,” the member of Congress wrote in a letter to Greg Coleman, deputy comptroller for large bank supervision.

Gosar pointed out that under the law, “it is illegal for a regulated bank to close an account on the basis of religion.”

“By closing her account due to her membership in a protected class, Wells Fargo may have engaged in discriminatory lending practice and public accommodations,” he wrote.

GOP Candidate’s Rival Allegedly Recorded in Secret Talking About Sending ‘Hit Squad’ to Kill Opponent

. . .[William Braddock’s] running as a Republican for a Tampa Bay-area seat in the U.S. House of Representatives and, in a video recording obtained by Politico, made a series of outlandish and disturbing threats toward his Republican primary opponent, Anna Paulina Luna.

In a secretly recorded 30-minute call with conservative activist Erin Olszewski, before he became a candidate, Braddock allegedly said, “I really don’t want to have to end anybody’s life for the good of the people of the United States of America,” referring to Luna.

“That will break my heart. But if it needs to be done, it needs to be done. Luna is a f***ing speed bump in the road. She’s a dead squirrel you run over every day when you leave the neighborhood.” (Read more from “GOP Candidate’s Rival Allegedly Recorded in Secret Talking About Sending ‘Hit Squad’ to Kill Opponent” HERE)

Trump Lashes Out As Senior Republicans Threaten To Form New Party

Donald Trump lashed out as more than 150 senior Republicans threatened to form a new party if the GOP doesn’t disown him.

The new group is being led by Trump-critics Evan McMullin and Miles Taylor and is calling for a major reform of the party. . .

Mr Trump took to his recently launched blog to attack Mr Taylor and the new group.

“He is a phony who will probably be sued over his fake book and fake ‘Anonymous’ editorial, which caused so much treasonous stir,” wrote Mr Trump.

“Miles Taylor and his fellow RINO losers like Tom Ridge, Christine Todd Whitman, and Crazy Barbara Comstock voted for Biden, and now look what they have — a socialist regime with collapsing borders, massive tax and regulation hikes, unrest in the Middle East, and long gas lines. 100 Former GOP Officials: Dump Trump Or We’ll Start A New Republican Party

More than 100 former Republican officials threatened to create a new political party if the Republican Party remains with former President Donald Trump, Reuters reported.

The letter, titled “A Call For American Renewal,” was expected to be released Thursday. Beyond discussing the creation of a third party, the letter will go after Trump’s false claims of a stolen election, according to Reuters.

The group first threatened to create a new political party in February in the wake of the Capitol Riot and Trump’s second impeachment, Reuters noted. One of the groups organizers, former Chief of Staff in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Miles Taylor, said, “The Republican Party is broken. It’s time for a resistance of the ‘rationals’ against the ‘radicals.’” . . .

Other former Republican officials that backed Taylor’s group included a number of former President George W. Bush appointees, such as former DHS Secretary Tom Ridge, former Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Christine Todd Whitman, and former Bush Transportation Secretary Mary Peters among them, Reuters reported. Two States Get New House Seats, Boosting GOP 2022 Chances for Majority

Texas is getting two new House seats and Florida one, helping Republican chances of winning a majority in 2022 and scrambling the Electoral College calculus for both parties in the 2024 presidential race.

Population growth is driving the increased House representation for the two Sun Belt states in the 435-member House of Representatives, per data released by the Census Bureau on Monday that decides how many seats each state gets for the next decade.

In addition to the pickups for Texas and Florida, four others states will gain one House seat each: Colorado, Montana, North Carolina, and Oregon.

But population growth in one area usually coincides with people moving out of other states. So seven will lose one House seat each: California, Illinois, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.

The Texas population boom will boost its House membership from 36 to 38 members, while the Florida delegation will jump from 27 to 28 lawmakers. (Read more from “Two States Get New House Seats, Boosting GOP 2022 Chances for Majority” HERE)

Arkansas GOP Governor Vetoes Child-Protecting Transgender Health Care Bill

Arkansas’ Republican governor on Monday vetoed an anti-transgender health care bill that would’ve prohibited physicians in the state from providing gender-affirming “procedures” for trans people under age 18.

Gov. Asa Hutchinson told reporters that he killed HB 1570 because the bill “would be and is a vast government overreach” and because it would’ve created “new standards of legislative interference with physicians and parents as they deal with some of the most complex and sensitive matters involving young people.”

The governor called the legislation “a product of the cultural war in America,” adding that his veto comes even though he believed the bill was “well-intended.” . . .

The governor predicted during his remarks that the state’s Republican-controlled General Assembly “will likely override” his veto, noting it takes only a simple majority to do so. (Read more from “Arkansas GOP Governor Vetoes Transgender Health Care Bill” HERE)

Navy Will Keep ‘How To Be an Antiracist’ Book on Reading List

Despite objections from Republican lawmakers, the U.S. Navy has reportedly decided against removing a controversial book from its approved reading list.

The Navy came under fire earlier this year upon revelations that some of the books included in its 2021 Chief of Naval Operations Professional Reading Program had nothing to do with military history or strategy, but instead educated readers on cultural topics such as anti-racism and gender identity.

One book in particular, titled “How to Be an Antiracist” by Ibram X. Kendi, drew intense scrutiny for its characterization of America as a fundamentally racist country.

In a letter sent to Navy Admiral Michael Gilday requesting the removal of the book, Republican Rep. Jim Banks (Ind.), a Naval Reserve officer and ranking member of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Military Personnel, branded the book as “explicitly anti-American” and not fit to be included on the list.

But according to Fox News, Gilday is not budging. In a response letter sent from Gilday to Banks obtained by the news organization, the admiral said he included the book because “it evokes the author’s own personal journey in understanding barriers to true inclusion, the deep nuances of racism and racial inequalities,” and added he would like to see Navy sailors achieve the same level of “self-reflection.” (Read more from “Navy Will Keep ‘How To Be an Antiracist’ Book on Reading List” HERE)

Trump Is Getting Active Again With Endorsements in State GOP Contests

Former President Donald Trump is wading into contests for control of state Republican Party organizations with endorsements this week in Ohio and South Carolina that would help cement his national network of GOP allies.

Trump endorsed Bob Paduchik for Ohio Republican Party chairman in a Wednesday email blast after giving his “complete and total endorsement” Tuesday in a handwritten note to South Carolina Republican Party Chairman Drew McKissick, who is seeking re-election.

“Bob Paduchik is running for Chair of the Republican Party of Ohio. He successfully led my campaign in both 2016 and 2020, having even more success the second time around,” Trump wrote in a message blasted to reporters by Trump’s Save America PAC.

“He is outstanding in every way, and I give him my full and complete endorsement. Bob loves our country and the Great State of Ohio. He will be an outstanding Chairman!” (Read more from “Trump Is Getting Active Again With Endorsements in State GOP Contests” HERE)

WATCH: Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Warns Fellow GOP Members Over ‘Betrayal’

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene slammed the 11 Republicans who voted to boot her off the House committees at a press conference Friday outside what she dubbed the “House of Hypocrites.”

The outspoken Georgia congresswoman warned her GOP colleagues that their decision on Thursday to remove her from the Education and Budget committees may come back to bite them — and the party as a whole.

“That really is a big betrayal that could cost us the majority in 2022,” she said. “I hope that my Republican colleagues really think about what they’ve done. I’m sure they’re going to hear from their voters.”

The House held the vote on Greene’s committee assignments over her past support of conspiracy theories, including the QAnon movement and saying that mass shootings were “false flag” operations carried out by gun control advocates.
